THE MCCANNS AMERICAN ALLIES (PLEASE SEND A PAYPAL DONATION/CHEQUE/BROWN ENVELOPE ) http://actinternational.org/ACTIntl/supporting/support.htm

I have long felt that the McCanns have a purpose in visiting America - to mobilise support and some of that support is very perverse and responsible for much of the sickening blogging, here are some examples, this man certainly preaches the gospel, according to Gerry McCann, a man, self-confessed, who only found religion, just when it suited him!

Note the abuse of "fat people who ate all the pies", myself included apparently! See first post on here "anon" from ST's blog, a blog that quotes American law, a blog that to the average person in the UK is depraved and sick, I think you may have been rumbled "Mr John Wearne". I would also point out that UK people are well aware of just how many cranks and thieves posture in America spouting "religion"! We are also well aware of just how racist such people can be!

“my husband has always refused to sit around from nine to five in the comfortable chair in his office???????//” — that’s because he was at the diner across the road gorging himself on pies instead of looking for our beautiful Madeleine!!!
Amaral is a disgrace and very representative of the pj.
International day of prayer for madeleine sept 19th 1-2pm and 10.30-11.30pm 10000 people onboard…….lets get madeleine home people…please join us in prayer for madeleine.

ASSIST News Service (ANS) - PO Box 609, Lake Forest, CA 92609-0609 USA Visit our web site at: http://www.assistnews.net/ -- E-mail: assistnews@aol.comThursday, September 11, 2008 Circle of Prayer for Missing Madeleine McCann Holds Second Worldwide Day of Prayer for Her Safe ReturnBy Michael IrelandChief Correspondent, ASSIST News Service
UNITED KINGDOM (ANS) -- Five-year-old Madeleine Beth McCann was abducted in Praia de Lux, Portugal, while on vacation from Great Britain in May 2007. She was taken while sleeping in the same bedroom as her sister and brother.
Her parents, Gerry and Kate McCann, were dining close by, but regularly checking on the children. Since her abduction there have been several sightings of her, most notably in Morocco, Spain and Portugal.

A photo of Madeleine taken in May, 2007.Since May 2007, there has been a worldwide search for her and an investigation into her disappearance, which continues to this day. Madeleine is distinguished by a mark in her right eye.
Now two friends of the McCann family are organizing a second Worldwide Day of Prayer for Madeleine, to be held on Saturday, September 19, 1.00 - 2.00 pm and 10.30 - 11.30pm.
"The idea for the day of prayer came from two individuals, myself and Nina Jones," said Madeleine Prayer Circle organizer John Wearne.
"We met via a website and both have interests in her disappearance as well as many Christian contacts in the world that involve their own circle of Christian friends and churches in prayer these days," Wearne told ASSIST News.
"In the last prayer session on August 8, we had reached out to thousands of people and approximately 6,000 people prayed for Madeleine and other lost children during the August event," Wearne said.
"As yet there is no website supporting the prayer event directly, although this is planned before the next event," he said.

Another photo of Madeleine in May, 2007
Wearne said it is believed that Madeleine was 'taken to order' by a child trafficking network and is currently being held by a European pedophile network.
"Belgium and its surrounding countries are a hot topic at the moment with a belief that she may well be hidden in this region," he said.
"The McCanns are Christians and pray as we do for her safe return. The McCanns recently campaigned for the introduction of the 'Amber Alert' system in Europe," Wearne added.
Wearne was asked what is the current situation regarding the investigation into Madeleine's disappearance?
"The investigation team is pursuing a line that Madeleine was abducted and is still alive (no proof contrary to this) and being held by a network somewhere. They have several investigation teams involved in looking for her," Wearne said.
Wearne said Madeleine's parents, "both have faith, and there is support via the church and from their close family and friends."

Madeleine Prayer Circle logoThe main goal of the Day of Prayer is to unite Christians throughout the world in prayer for Madeleine and other innocents held by child trafficking networks.
"We feel that the battle is spiritual and by going through prayer that God will listen to the cries of His people and that this will sway the spiritual balance in Madeleine's favor," said Wearne.
"Everything is done through God and there is total belief that one day Madeleine will one day come home. God may have a greater plan for others and may well be using Madeleine in that plan. We petition God always for His will to be done and ask that Madeleine be brought home," he said.
Wearne cited two Bible verses the Madeleine Prayer Circle is basing their hopes upon.
Mathew 18:19(New International Standard Version) says: "If two of you agree about anything you request, it will be done for you by My Father in Heaven."
Colossians 4:2-3 (New American Standard Bible) states that "praying at the same time will open up a door for the Word."
Widespread Problem of Missing and Exploited Children
Wearne explained that in the US there are almost 1 million children reported missing each year; 60,000 children are victims of non-family abductions (National Center for Missing and Exploited Children). In Italy, 2,000 children go missing each year (Labor Online, 2005). More than 1 million children are missing in India, he said.
"The problem is worldwide. The problem is that due to the power involved in child trafficking the numbers are hard to ascertain, but the figure would probably be around 6 million children that go missing every year. In Spain and Portugal there are also serious concerns. The prayers are needed not just for Madeleine, but for these other innocent children," Wearne said.
Law enforcement bodies worldwide are involved in the search for Madeleine.
"There are approximately four or five different investigation teams working on the case, including Interpol. The use of Madeleine-related websites get the message across to people and there are affiliates that help the family to find Madeleine by working to their agenda," Wearne said.
Please feel free join the Madeleine Prayer Circle group for the second worldwide prayer session to be held September 19, 2008 between 1.00 - 2.00 pm and 10.30 - 11.30 pm to pray for Madeleine and all the children held by criminal networks throughout the world.
Wearne concluded: "We truly believe that the battle for the return of Madeleine McCann is a spiritual one and we would welcome anyone and everyone to join us.
"Prayer is the way forward for us now, rather than active involvement," he said.
The following is a suggested list of Prayer Points for those interested in interceding for Madeleine and the many other children being held against their will by those who seek to do them harm.
Prayer agenda:
1) For the Holy Spirit to be with Madeleine -- to fill her, guide her and protect her so that she feels God's presence at all times and for the Holy Spirit to likewise be with all missing and exploited children around the world.
2) For God to actively intervene in Madeleine's life and for her whereabouts to be revealed to the world and for Madeleine to be returned to her Mother.
3) For God's perfect wisdom to guide and direct Gerry and Kate McCann in everything they do.
4) For the revelation of the truth of Madeleine's disappearance to the world and the imminent exposure of any falsehood that has served to obscure the truth and prevent Madeleine being found.
5) A miracle for Madeleine. For the Holy Spirit, God's supernatural power that only comes through the Lord God Almighty, to intervene in Madeleine's life.
6) For God's miraculous intervention in the lives of all missing and exploited children and their loving families.
7) For the downfall of all criminal networks involved in child sexual exploitation, slavery and torture, and the downfall of the protection afforded to these by corrupt authorities.
8) For all children held in slavery and abuse by criminal pedophile networks to tangibly experience God's divine protection, perfect peace and love and that no matter what is done to them, they will NEVER be separated from His love.
9) For God to reveal the truth of these children's experiences to the world, for the motivation of His people to actively stand up for these children and put an end to this system of evil, and for the delivery of His justice to ALL the victims of these criminal networks.

It is well known that i figured out these two cases may be connected, I have been banging on about this for months.
I also said there were far too many similarities for this case not be properly investigated. I also say that the case of Mari Luz-Cortes maybe linked to Joana and Madeleine.

All murdered by people they knew and trusted. And you've been banging on about it for months and I didn't even notice. Well done you!

You've fought a valiant fight all the way from the beginning -- when there was only a whisper that the McCanns (according to some fools) were involved in the disappearance of their daughter. You were attacked viciously and yet, you defended others that were attacked. The antis are going to drive themselves crazy (personally, I think most of them are already insane).

And along the way many people from DE became friends through the internet - Diane, Mum21, Tinkerbell, Helen, Mandz, Chinadoll, etc... all wonderful, kind people - the kind of people that if the world ever turned their backs on someone, one would wish to find such knights of honour! Congrats to all of you - you are the greatest and Rosie you are a leader amongst all these great people.

Another arse licker. Careful now Gisele, Rosie's got more than enough ego problems to work through already. And you'll get halitosis.

Open letter to Notdoc

Dear Sir,

You will forgive my boldness, but after I read your comment I cannot avoid sending you these words of gratefulness. a) Professionally

- As a pretend doctor, you have always refused to go out and visit the hospitals - you'd much rather sit around and read the pink blog and ST's blogs. Not only do you read them every single day, but you copiy and paste comments on Vile's blog.

The problem is that this dedication to become a professional blogger has earned you non promotion in your pretend career.

- As you probably know, even because you seem like a very well informed person to me, you have to work to earn a salary, you ought to try it.

As a person, your behaviour has also been a disgrace, because to begin with we could never distinguish that you even had a personal life, due to the manner in which you dealt with the blogging world that you so embraced. -

My dear friend Notdoc, without wishing to bother you any further, I would like to request one last favour from you: GET A REAL JOB, YOU FOOL!!

Gisele

Yes you are right, you have to work to earn a salary. Although you do not seem to grasp that some people do not need a salary to live. Some people do not even need to work. Some people give their time and skills for free. Some people have choices.

Thus Doc you posess something in a Doctor that many do not - a desire to track down the 'cause' of an irritant or the 'cause' of a cancer.

Thus those who are trying to undermine you with words are thosew who feel threatened by those with such minds. WHY? because people like us EXPOSE the irritants and cancers in our society.

By the way, what happened to b)?

PS, I don't actually need to work :-)))

Yes you blog, you also search for animal cruelty videos and sex videos to post on blogs where the disappearance of a little girl is discussed, you post lie after lie about fellow doctors because you hate real doctors, you callously encourage vulnerable people to put their children in danger because you hate to be in the wrong, you make sexualised comments about women everytime you get the chance because you hate real women, you humour and encourage people who are clearly suffering from mental illneses if their theories are sick enough to suit your tastes, you post anonymously on ST's when your rage gets the better of you, and using different sock puppets on other sites, you make up grandiose claims about your life to impress people who are not very bright, you google up answers to medical questions...

I really hope you are nowhere near those babies during those moments of blind panic as the thought of someone with your disturbed mind tending to such vulnerable infants is very worrying.

The 5% blind panic you must go through at work is probably when the staff who really work in healthcare are calling for you to mop up some mess on the floor and you can remember where you last left it due to so much time dreaming up sick stories in your head.

Why on earth should the existence of MRSA make it imperative that I should work. To be frank, we have had some problems with Enterobacter, Serratia and especially Klebsiella in the recent past. And of course Strep is always the biggest threat in any neonatal unit. No, I don't need to work because the license fees that I receive from various governments for publishing rights to my book mean that the next few generations of the docmac family are very well catered for. Comprehende?

Morning ICTOAN,

Thanks for the link. I tend to agree that it's not looking at all like the LP will be investigating. It seems that justice for poor Madeleine has been buried beneath a pile of bureaucratic hidden agenda. Just why are these two child neglectors so important? More important than a child?

Docmac, that "anon" is a bit thick to say the least!

Off to work now (which, incidentally anon,I'm not being paid for!)

Good Afternoon All,
I was just reading a report by Anorak 25th September 08 regarding BK. Well….
"Can the credit crunch be linked to Madeleine McCann? It’s been tried before.
DESPITE the credit crunch, one or two businessmen and woman are doing well enough to make it onto Stockport’s rich list, according to a recent publication. Stockport’s rich list is required reading in the area’s golf clubs and jails…
Stockport’s top spot is reserved for Sale Sharks owner Brian Kennedy. Kennedy, the son of a window cleaner, bought the Guinness Premiership Club in 1999 and has also owned Stockport County.
That link… It’s coming…
Despite being estimated to be worth £350million, Kennedy is probably most famous for offering his financial support to Kate and Gerry McCann in their search for daughter Madeleine.
And has the credit crunch affected Mr Kennedy’s double-glazing empire?
Kennedy stepped in to back the couple after they were both made formal suspects in the Madeleine inquiry. At the time, he also offered the help of his company’s in-house lawyer.
And the credit crunch?
In a statement released by Kennedy last year he said: “In light of the quite literally incredible accusations against Gerry and Kate McCann, which are clearly exacerbating their incredible torture, I felt compelled to offer financial and logistical support.”
Due to the, er, credit crunch journalist Rob Dawson’s investigation ends there."

"The little girl died in that apartment" - Gonçalo Amaral on TVI

I’ve just finished reading a translation of this interview on Joana Morais’ blog – well worth a visit and read. Follow the link

This interview clears up a number of confusing points and I think clarifies the situation.

ICantThinkOfAName said...

Wizard

I have just finished reading the transcript and was going to post a link but see that you have beaten me to it.

I certainly agree that it is very enlightening.

Wizard said...

ICTOAN, it’s interesting that GA tells us that Mark Harrison one of Britains leading police officers in complex crimes believed M died in the apartment. It was he who suggested bringing Eddie and Keela in.

GA also tells us that M was moved 3 times, to the beach, when spotted being carried by Gerry by Mr. Smith. To a refrigerator then moved in the Scenic to final her resting place by which time, of course, the McCanns had a good opportunity to familiarise themselves with the area and find a suitable hiding place

ICantThinkOfAName said...

Wizard

I'm still not sure about the Scenic.

I tend to accept Doc Mac's view that the traces from there were from a "shroud" or from cloths used to clean up after the event.

ICantThinkOfAName said...

Wizard

BTW did you peruse the thread initiated by Luz that I referred to at 8.51.

docmac said...

Thank you Wizard for the link to the TVI transcript. He does get in a couple of decent digs at both Clarence and Stuart Prior, doesn't he? I get the feeling that his desired conversation with Mr Prior would not be very friendly..

ICTOAN I read that thread and much of it dovetails nicely with the TVI interview while giving a bit more detail. I agree with you. I think senior officers in LP were instrumental in derailing the investigation and I truly believe they are under orders not to continue. How sad for Madeleine.

ICantThinkOfAName said...

Doc Mac

Yes! Sad for Madeleine but a disaster for Justice.

docmac said...

The class was working peacefully. It was the first lesson of the morning and everyone was a little bleary-eyed.

Joe Smith, I notice was doodling on a text book. 'Come on Joe. That's enough of that. Get on with your work please.'

I was new to teaching and trying to be firm but fair. The next minute, Joe grabbed his neighbour's pencil case and threw it across the floor. When I remonstrated him he told me to 'f*** off'.

At the end of the lesson I asked him to stay behind. Demanding an apology, I told him I'd be phoning home as well as reporting his behaviour to the head.

Joe simply shrugged. 'It's not my fault. I'm ill. I've got ADHD. I can't help it.'

This was the first time I'd heard of Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and I actually laughed. Appalling behaviour an illness? I'd never heard anything so ludicrous.

Sadly, however, it certainly wasn't the last I'd hear of it. This mysterious ailment made a sudden and dramatic appearance among British and American schoolchildren in the early 1990s. Before that, it was practically unheard of.

On the Continent, you'd still struggle to get a doctor to agree that a child who ran riot in the classroom, shouted and swore at staff, was anything other than extremely badly behaved.

But in the UK, youngsters like David, a 14-year-old I teach, who last week kicked a chair across the classroom because he was enraged that I'd asked him to stop texting during an exam, are now routinely labelled as having a psychiatric disorder.

David and thousands of badly behaved children like him are deemed to have ADHD and are medicated accordingly.

During the decade I've been teaching, the number of children prescribed the amphetamine Ritalin, used to 'treat' ADHD, has simply exploded. It is estimated that 400,000 children are currently prescribed the drug.

In 1991, the number of prescriptions issued was a mere 2,000. When I first started teaching I'd never heard of Ritalin or ADHD.

Now, I can honestly say I don't think there's a single class I teach without at least one and often two or three children being medicated with this very powerful class B drug.

Ritalin has unpleasant side effects - including sleeplessness and nausea - and the penalty for selling it illegally is a maximum of 14 years' imprisonment.

Recent research has linked it to depression, stunted growth, heart problems, insomnia and weight gain and, according to the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency, 11 British children on Ritalin have died.

Yet this drug is now routinely prescribed to children as young as six or seven.

Now, finally, serious concerns are being voiced about the way it is being doled out like sweets to thousands of young children.

The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE), which advises what drugs should be made available on the NHS, has just issued guidelines recommending that Ritalin be used only as a last resort.

Parenting classes, they urge, might be more effective in controlling the bad behaviour which has become endemic in our schools and on our streets.

Boys are three times more likely to be diagnosed with ADHD than girls. And looking at the 'symptoms' that characterise it, it's not hard to see why.

Is the child easily distracted and quickly bored? Do they forget things such as instructions, homework and spellings? Do they fidget, doodle and lose things?

If the answer to these questions is yes, then according to the 'experts', the child might well have ADHD. Alternatively, they may simply be a typical boy.

Added to the list of symptoms are, in my experience, extreme rudeness and a dislike of being asked to wear school uniform.

If asked several times to stop talking over me, children with the 'illness' generally swear at me.

When I phone their home, their parents react with the uniform comment: 'He can't help it. He's got ADHD.'

Unsurprisingly, an increasing number of doctors and psychiatrists are expressing the fear that children are being labelled with a mental illness and given drugs for behaviour that in the past would simply have been labelled 'very naughty.'

And anecdotally, there is plenty of evidence to suggest that schools are pressurising parents to put children who cause mayhem on Ritalin.

As a teacher, I'm secretly relieved when I hear that a particularly difficult child, one who won't do any work, who chats and texts through the lesson, who sneers and swears at staff without a second thought, has been prescribed Ritalin.

The drug isn't known as the 'chemical cosh' for nothing. If I'm honest, though, I don't believe that these children are ill. I think they come from insecure, unstable backgrounds where the concept of a bedtime is as fanciful as the fairy tales they've never been read.

I believe that many of the children labelled with ADHD and drugged into acquiescence are simply youngsters who have been raised without any boundaries.

They live in homes where junk food is the norm, where there is no parental control over what they watch on TV and when they watch it, and where authority, whether it be teachers, the police or the lollipop lady, is routinely sneered at and derided.

A study some years ago in America suggested that much of the behaviour labelled ADHD was in fact simply exhaustion, and that children were magically cured of their affliction when they went to bed and slept at night instead of watching gory horror movies.

Personally, I think that many children would benefit from firmer and more consistent parenting.

Of course, having an active, boisterous seven-year-old child is hard work. But it seems to me that far too many mums and dads are happy to have their children labelled with a psychiatric condition and drugged - even if the existence of the disorder is hotly disputed by the experts.

Youngsters might be turned into wide-eyed, slow-witted zombies, but at least they're not running amok in the playground and inconveniencing their parents by getting suspended.

Ritalin, like Valium, has become mother's little helper. It relieves parents of the responsibility of actually having to discipline their children. But as a society, we may pay a very high price indeed for drugging a generation of our children.

Frances Childs is a teacher in a comprehensive school in the South of England.

Well said Ms Childs!!! Notice the reference to Valium?

ICTOAN

Sorry I ignored you this morning, I did not have time to read the post by Luz,and I was rushing out. I have read some of the link now though.

Stuart Prior, I am assuming that is the Stuart they are refering to, has much to answer for, it would appear LP were on a cover up from day one. It had to be an abduction WHY??

Quote..

In a relaxing moment of one of these reunions I may have committed a slip or, maybe, I was a little inopportune or less diplomatic. Worried with the possibility that the McCann were, in any way, involved in the disappearance of their child, and while I reasoned about the sort of crimes in which the same could be involved, I concluded a fact. If, really, it became confirmed any sort of responsibility on the part of the McCann, then it would put in cause the existence of the Fund created for searching for Madeleine, which was up to 2 million pounds, a crime of fraud and confidence abuse. A debate opened up, and in fact, with the forwarded premises, this crime of fraud and abuse of confidence could exist, but Portugal wouldn’t have jurisdiction to investigate and trial such a case. This belonged to the United Kingdom, because the Fund was registered in that country. Then the British partners became aware of a tough reality: a strong possibility that they had a crime to investigate in their country, having as eventual suspects the McCann couple, a thing that didn’t seem to please them very much. Just got aware of a sudden paleness on the faces of the british present.

(sudden reality perhaps that this is for real and the british public will not buy it)

Or is it something somewhat simpler. If the McCann's had been arrested, Gordon Brown, JK Rowling, Brian Kennedy, David Beckham etc., would have all looked absolute fools.

Personally I think they all still do, however Gordon Brown had the most to lose.

ADHD docmac is like many conditions on a spectrum. Some children may have it mildly others to extremes. In the past these children underachieved and a significant high proportion ended up in penal institutions. Drugs like Ritalin, may not be the answer but they give the child a fighting chance in life which is better imo than none at all. As knowledge of this condition increases so will the knowledge on the best way to treat it. Lack of discipline or boundaries at home is a naïve response to a serious condition. The condition not only effects the child but devastates the whole family a condition to be taken very seriously indeed with no simple answers.

ratonthebeam said...

There is also a whole Amaral thread now on the 3as. I just got home and settled down to read - now I am gobsmacked. In fact "gobsmacked" doesn't even begin to describe it.

Tick tock, McScums. It's very, very, very far from over.

Wizard said...

No your right Rat it is very far from over. I can’t help but ponder over the Mc’s private investigators looking into the private lives of GA, Insp. Tavares de Almeida and Guilhermino de Encarnacao. No doubt to discredit them and to ruin their credibility a bit like the successful OJ defence when he was on trial for murder.

docmac said...

Wizard, the fact is that ADHD is massively overdiagnosed. Like cow's milk allergy. And the 'diagnosis' is being made by teachers and parents who then 'demand' that the child be put on Ritalin, Risperdal or one of the other drugs used. I know ADHD exists. But why didn't it exist in the middle of last century? Just a thought.

Di said...

Doc

A bit like dyslexia..

How many children were classed as stupid!!

Now we know it is real and sadly so many children slipped through the net.

Off now catch up tomorrow.

Cláudia said...

Doc, as a professional in that area I believe that the percentage of children correctly diagnosed is very, vey low. Saying your child is hyperactive and getting him/her on Ritalin is, many times, used as the easy way out. While your son/daughter is kind of under the influence, you don't have to worry about him/her, pay that much attention to him/her and really take the time to educate him/her. I've had contact with hyperactive kids. Truly hyperactive kids. Then I had contact with kids who were supposed to be hyperactive but their only problem was that they had never had contact with discipline and rules. And don't get me wrong. Discipline and rules have nothing to do with abuse or beating. It has to do with respect and showing them the consequences of not respecting people. Never have I had a serious disciplinary problem with any of those children. Some of the ones who were said to be hyperactive were simply neglected children whose parents wouldn't give a flying f*** about them, besides buying them the latest, most expensive gadgets. And some of those are already in university and still in contact with me.

Wizard said...

Hi Docmac,

That’s my point it did exist but these kids ended up in remand homes, borstals, prisons etc and they still do today because it is difficulty getting to get a diagnosis. I have to disagree with you it is very difficult to get a professional diagnosis and even more difficult to get drugs to combat the effects of the condition. The effects of the condition fall completely outside the normal range of parenting skills needed hence the problem.

ICantThinkOfAName said...

Doc

Earlier you posted an item about ADHD.

In the 1980’s I was Chair of Governors of a special school which catered for boys with this sort of problem although the terminology was not one used at that time.

The School was a boarding school set in rural Sussex but funded by the Inner London Education Authority and catetered for boys from the Inner Boroughs.

The staff were very dedicated and had a high success rate in helping these boys. The regime was fairly liberal and worked on a peer pressure principle. Not in an oppressive way but the pupils gained privileges by their behaviour, the terms of which were agreed and overseen by meetings between all staff and pupils. The pupils often called for higher standards that the staff would contemplate. Medication was not an issue.

The ILEA at that time was under intense pressure from the Government of the day for their so called failings. I have no knowledge of what happened in main stream education but my own experience and that of representatives of governing bodies of other Special Schools is that Special Education was taken seriously and well provide for both in funding and the aid of psychologists etc.

Alas ILEA was broken up and the schools allocated to the various Boroughs. My school ended up in the care of one of the poorest London Boroughs which soon found it impossible to finance it and it was closed.

Wizard said...

ICTOAN, I think you hit the nail on the head schools like yours are few and far between - it is cheaper and quicker to give a drug which allows children to remain at home.

In July 2007 Mark Harrison MBE of the National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA) made a report to the Portuguese police stating that in his opinion: “Police have concentrated on finding Madeleine alive, they now need to start to consider other options and the possibility that she has been killed and her body hidden.”

docmac said...

Wizard there was a lady in Cape Town who was regarded as probably the world's leading expert on this condition throughout the 80s and into the late 90s when she tragically succumbed to cancer. Her name was Kate, RIP. She made the diagnosis in significantly less than 10% of the kids who were referred to her. Nowadays it seems to be the other way around, unfortunately. This issue seems to be of some personal relevance to you, so I feel should just agree to disagree.

Claudia and ICTOAN, I agree.

I quite regularly see disruptive students later claiming "but I have got ADHD!" to excuse their antisocial behaviour. "Dyslexia" is another popular one, especially in the last week of term when they know they are going to fail after having messed about all year with poor attendance and even poorer committment to their studies. It actually makes me quite angry, because Mr Rat is really dyslexic and he has worked hard to overcome it and do well in life. I do agree with Doc that it is over-diagnosed nowadays, which does the "patient" no favours, and takes the attention and resources away from those who genuinely do have those conditions.

Wizard, all I can say is that the best study I have ever read on the overtreatment of 'ADHD' (I think it was done in West Virginia, USA) found that around 60% of the kids on stimulants did not satisfy the DSM-111-R criteria for ADHD and 30% had no symptoms of the condition at all.

I consider my profession to be very personal to me by the way.

Anonymous said...

Doc, completely agree with you.

Over diagnosed and over treated with Ritalin, because the teacher/occupational therapist/nursery care worker requested medication via a phone call to the GP.It happens as simple as that. I worry about the number of ADHD,Dyslexia and in some cases Asthma being "diagnosed and treated"

docmac said...

Thanks, SC. It does happen exactly like that, and it is very disturbing.

None of my kids has been hyperactive, but if one day my youngest is singled out by a teacher, we will refuse treatment.

I will not take the risk of my young boy developing early hypertension. And I will personally go and consult Dr David Stein in the USA for a non-drug solution. Thankfully, it seems this will not be necessary.

Cláudia said...

I also once had a student who was clearly dyslexic. Everyone was aware of that. The student himself knew, of course. And I'll never forget the way he explained it to me. He said in his owm way: when I'm writing it's like people writing using Word, making a typo and going back and deleting. I just can't go back an delete it and can't avoid making the same mistake over and over again.
His parents were called in to discuss the situation. Both said the kid was easily distracted and a bit lazy and apart from that that there was nothing wrong with him. The father was a doctor, the mother was a teacher.

Anonymous said...

Claudia, thankfully there are numerous tests nowadays to establish whether a patient's performance really satisfies the diagnostic criteria. I am afraid, there are many children/adults misdiagnosed .

Doc, a healthy "symptom-free" child is such a blessing. But I agree with you, I would personally go to long lengths before administering any of the so-called miracle drugs to my children.

I've seen too many children drugged into a zombie-state...making a clinical evaluation almost impossible.

ratonthebeam said...

Mr Rat used to be made sit up the back of the class with a colouring book until he left school. His dyslexia was not diagnosed until he was 28. Of course, things were different when we were young. I have had a few truly dyslexic students and they get a good level of support from us; some of them do really well. That's why I get so p*ssed off at others pretending, because they see it as an easy option.

Doc, what do you make of this injection to prevent cervical cancer? They want to give it to all girls in Scotland in secondary school.

docmac said...

Claudia and SC

I know less about dyslexia than just about anyone else on the planet :-)

SC, the way these kids have been treated in such an experimental way is what bothers me. Stimulants, antidepressants, antipsychotics.. Serious side effects all. And kids have died. Many of them should never have been diagnosed. Tragic.

I just feel like screaming, don't you judge MY daughter by your own shabby standards!!!

The Senior school is brilliant and she is like her Dad and Nan works so hard and is above her expected grades and will make a go of anything she decides to do.

I am sick of the lazy kids pretending to need help and disrupting her classes and claiming dyslexia as if it is a get out of work free card though.

No Rosie, you have a poor memory. I said I had only ever met one orthopaedic surgeon in SA who was arrogant enough to call himself'Mister'. It's a peculiarly British affliction.

I am not a surgeon, but as you would know if you knew anything about the subject, many neonatologists do perform some surgical procedures. Often when the surgeons are drunk and telling anyone who will listen they are a Mister.

He does get in a couple of decent digs at both Clarence and Stuart Prior, doesn't he?

I have read the interview with Goncalo with great interest but he is not referring to Stuart Prior. He is talking about an officer who retired but says he cannot disclose the reasons why. Stuart Prior went to Portugal in July and has only recently been promoted to Superintendent it would seem. He is clearly not the retired officer that Goncalo is referring to.

I think we should remember the closing words of the interview with Goncalo which clearly heralds a new dawn in the investigation! He clearly intends to see justice done for the sake of himself, his colleagues and above all, for Madeleine xx

I only want, Gonçalo Amaral, I only want to know one thing. Will Maddie return to your life one of these days, or not?

GA: I think yes. This book has the will of clarifying and of contributing to the investigation, I think yes, there are more things to talk about.

JP: Is that your mission?

GA: It’s not a mission, it’s a question of recovering my dignity and my honour and that of my colleagues and of this institution to which I was so proud of belonging to for so many years, and of justice being done for the little girl.

Hi all,

'Oops I forgot to say, you do remember a surgeon is mostly referred to as Mister'

Ah, imo, that explains why no rush from the Muckas to demand that the papers/media call them Drs. Mr & Mrs makes them seem more important maybe even some think he really is a surgeon.

With regard to ADHD I really do believe that there are a large number of children being lablelled with it when they in fact do not have it. The amount of children who are fed junk from very young is astonishing. It is disgusting to see little babies with their milk bottles filled with fizzy drinks and very little ones eating sweets and convenience foods. These all contain additives. I believe that the majority of the behaviour problems experienced today is due to what goes into the child and that is the reason that in the past the numbers of children with the problem were less. I am not saying that these problems do not exist of course they do I just do not believe that they are all ADHD problems.

ROTB,

Hi all!

I managed to catch up on yesterday's comments but not today's. I don't know where the week has gone. It's Friday and it still feels like Tuesday!

Re: Dr/Mr. A colleague of mine was talking about a Dr that we have on our committee. She said that the reason why we have that whole "Mr" palaver here is because centuries ago, barbers used perform routine surgery (quite impressive if you take into account that they provide for the weekend too - sir!) and so proper surgeons did not want to be classed in the same ilk as barbers. So this is where the term "Mr" came from!!

Re: ADHD, I had forgotten about all of that (or forced it out of my mind, at least). There were at least two that were statemented as 'ADHD' in every maths set that I took. I tend to agree that it is far too often misdiagnosed and is a simple case of lack of discipline from the parents. OK so ADHD children have a clinical disorder but that by no means proports that it predisposes children to rudeness such as telling their teachers to F**k off, calling their peers W@**%$s and emptying large amounts of fountain pen ink onto their neighbour's exercise books! There is a perfectly adequate old-fashioned term for that and it's called naughtiness! I have had conversations with parents in the past where they have had the cheek to say to me "It's not my place to discipline my child, it's yours and it's your fault if they act up in class". This is the inherent problem you see. Some parents, having passed the buck on the discipline front, seem to forget that teachers are actually there to TEACH thier little darlings and not to perform the role of mummy, daddy, society, police, welfare officer and educator because they're too bloody lazy to do something about their own child's behaviour!!

I do believe that ADHD has a genuine medical foundation, just not in the numbers that have been statemented as such and I still feel really angry that teachers have to put up with this bull to this day - they're not paid enough.
BT - I applaud you for managing to carry on teaching where I failed :-)

I have seen what Ritalin does too and it turns the kids into zombies where they have gone from extremely disruptive to not learning anything at all and gazing into space. Where is the value in that? There has to be an alternative or maybe it's just natural selection in progress!
xx

Mr Amaral
You have the correct words

It’s not a mission, it’s a question of recovering my dignity and my honour and that of my colleagues and of this institution to which I was so proud of belonging to for so many years, and of justice being done for the little girl.'

Many thanks for your integrity

ICTOAN

I only moved to SA aged 8 and had relatives (deceased) who fought in the Boer War. Of course I heard anecdotal tales from my family concerning the heroics of the Brit troops. But I have had good access to the accounts of local historians too. The war was a tragic occurrence and my sympathies lie with both sides. But by all accounts, those Zulus gave the Brits a whipping, considering their limited weaponry.

How did one of your brothers get to be named Serge?

French connection?

"If i do win the Euro Millions tonight believe me it will be a case of spend, spend , spend, and another thing I would do would be to book us all a no expense spared Holiday at Butlins, letsparty Clawsies Tsunami
I would even lay on a coach to pick up all the others, Rosie, Tinks, Mandz, Christobell, Jane, Marie (Mavis) and you of course, save you all travelling on National. And that's not all Clair, as soon as you walk into the camp the "first" drinks would be on me! I'd be leaving my wife at home of course, no point in spoiling her which may mean my lifelong ambition of "five in bed" some nights if you girls don't mind my snoring and sweaty feet! perfect Well ladies, I guess you will now all be willing, and even praying for me to win tonight won't you, watch this space, you'll be the first to know I promise, and get ready to pack your bags! Alroy. XXXXXXXX"

Well, I wish you all the luck in the world to win the Euromillions jackpot tonight, Alroy.

But that's a few more than 5 in a bed, and at almost 80 you might like to reconsider this foolish suggestion. Besides, Rosie accuses me frequently of sexual innuendo and of demeaning women in my posts. I am quite sure she'll now respond in a similar vein to you. Or perhaps not.

£100 million. Butlins? Hey, big spender :-)))

Hiya Everyone!

Strange how this ST fella has such a morbid fascination with childrens' christian names available on the internet.

It kind of reminds you of someone whose mission is to find out more about the child and their location, much like he has done with myself and ROB. The thing is those who harass and pester children themselves are committing a far more serious offence, of course.

Hiya Doc,

Well I always had right Royal Alroy down as a bit of a classless old pervert, now I know it:-))

I'm extremely pleased the Zulus defeated the British. What our country did in those times was almost beyond belief. Walking around the British Museum makes me fill so embarassed and frustrated at our imperialistic past AND I make sure my children are very aware that we went off to foreign countries stealing whatever we could and laughing at the locals as well as looking down on them. Ring any bells !!!

You can see the likes of social climbers like the McCanns sitting in their african bungalows 150 yrs ago whilst the commoners of the land go searching for their delightful 3yr old who has gone missing.

Pour me another gin darling. It's obvious she's being tenderly cared for by lions and there is no evidence that she has been harmed.

But those specialist sniffer dogs from England have found evidence what shall we do.

Keep blagging and we might just get away with it. I know a man whose brother is Disraeli and his friend has made a fortune selling glass for the British exhibition building - the Crystal Palace. Shifty looking bloke but shed loads of cash and we need it to buy everyone off like the bloke who saw me walking into the bush.

Anyway I know someone else who helped Gladstone with his newspaper briefings and he has agreed to join forces.

I'm so bloody good at what I do no one will see through me straching my face, cheek and neck. And darling you look so pretty in your accesories, don't worry everything will be alright. the only thing we have to worry about is keeping our mouths shut but I'm such a ego driven status orientated arrogant so and so I just can't promise that.

Doc, can you imagine them swinging? I mean the dance, of course. PMSL!

I truly am sorry for the smuck we did in South Africa. Indeed, wasn't it in the Boer War us British invented the Concentration Camp. We were exporting all sorts of scamming tricksters all done under the umbrella of expanding an empire when basically we were robbing the locals and controlling them. I am truly ashamed of our past and we should hand everything back. They can make replicas and keep them in the museum but hand the stuff back.

It's never too late to start handing things over !!!!!!

Doc

Butlins Bognor Regis is quite close to Bracklesham Bay.

As an expat in peru I can assure you the swinging is still there. I turned another cheek ! and left quietly out the door whenever a doctor's group from the hospital arrived.

Or to start telling the truth, BT!

bath theory said...

Well done Rat, can you see the McScammers fitting into colonial duties abroad?

Cláudia said...

That would be a hell of a sexy 'party'! ROTFLMAO!

Argh as I leave the safe haven of HMS Rothley and stand looking out over the cold atlantic sea my thoughts turn to planning yet another charade in the name of truth and dignity. My paymasters will be happy.

But first we must get completely pissed and ignore all our children all evening for a week in order to bond and enhance the circle of trust.

Hiya all

I have read with interest all the comments on ADHD.

I just wanted to add that in order for a child to be "statemented" they have to be assessed by an Educational Psychologist. Having said that, I do agree that many may exhibit symptoms that are not down to any inherent defect in the child.

I do agree that food additives, together with lack of consistent love, nurturing and (reasonable) discipline can cause many problems in children. To me I think the big problem is lack of education. Children learn from their parents and this gets passed on. If that is how they were fed and brought up they will tend to treat their own children in a similar way.

I think life skills classes for children are terribly important and could be a way forward in preventing or reducing child abuse. This has been trialled in many areas in the UK with great success and should be given a far higher priority. It is often more expensive to feed children on fizzy pop sweets and crisps than it is to buy them carrots and apples to munch on. I also think that many mums find baby formula so expensive that they put children on to cows milk far too soon, and often dont even realise how important this is, as you say filling the baby bottle with fizzy pop or other cr**.

In UK we generally need to take the art of child rearing far more seriously as happens in many other jurisdictions.

Oh yes BT. Papa out hunting the tigers in the Jolly Old Empire. Mama bossing the servants about in between gown fittings and tea parties. Pinkie the butler chasing the natives with a big stick. Poor Tarquin, Cressida and Anastasia left home all day (and night) with the swarthy Ayah.

It isn't the McScums fault. They were just born 100 years too late.
