Maddie case: In their first interview since they quit being suspects in the disappearance of their daughter, Kate and Gerry McCann spoke about the re-launch of the investigation, the fear that they felt in Portugal and the unshakable certainty that Madeleine was abducted"Nothing in the process says that Madeleine has died"Q – What are you presently doing to find Madeleine?

Gerry – We have had private investigators working with us for several months. Now that the case has been archived, it's easier because we accessed the process. We carried out new interviews with those that had already testified. And we interviewed others who approached us and had never spoken before.

Kate – As we didn't know what the PJ had done, we repeated everything that seemed important to us.Q – Do the new witnesses offer clues about the disappearance?

Gerry – Some report sightings, but it's not likely that they lead to our daughter. We are more interested in people that offer credible information that can be verified through photographs or in another form; people who know who may be involved.Q – What impression did you get from the process? Were you shocked over its contents?

Gerry – We were investigated into the smallest detail. There are entire volumes about us. We can jump those. It must be disquieting information that will not help us to find Madeleine.

Q – Don't you think that everything that was possible to do, was done? The investigation reached Poland, the Netherlands, Spain, Morocco…

Gerry – Morocco is a good example of what went wrong. A sighting was reported and it was said that there were cameras at the petrol station. When the inspectors went there, they concluded that there were none. The truth is that there were none in the pump area, but in the shop. And when the PJ returned, the tape had been recorded over.

Kate – It's difficult to describe how it feels to have our daughter taken away… We want to see action everywhere. We wanted spotlights, we wanted helicopters, we wanted everyone on the street, searching.
Q – If Madeleine had disappeared in England, would things have been different?

Gerry – If it had happened in a British city, I have no doubts. But I don't know if it would have been different if we had been in a small village in Scotland. Clearly, the English police are more experienced in abductions, they are more alert.

Q – If you have an important clue concerning Madeleine's whereabouts, will you transmit it to the Portuguese police?

Gerry – If something needs to be done in Portugal, we'll have to. We cannot go around breaking doors down or arresting people. But only when we feel that we cannot advance any further on our own.
Q – Do you trust the Portuguese authorities, after having been considered suspects?

Gerry – We wouldn't mind if we had been investigated at the beginning, if they thought that could help. But months later, when the evidence had been lost? It's that once the suspicion is installed, we can never prove our innocence again.

Q – Didn't you find it strange that the dogs found traces of blood in your room and in your rental car…

Gerry – There was no blood found! The indicia are worthless if they are not corroborated by forensic information. And they were not.

Q – 40 apartments were investigated and the dogs only marked yours. Ten cars and they only reacted to yours.

Gerry – These dogs' frailty was proved by a study that was carried out in the USA, in the case of a man that had been accused of murder. They had ten rooms, and in each room four boxes were placed, containing vegetables, bones, trash. Some contained human remains. They stayed there for ten hours. Eight hours after the boxes were removed, the dogs came in. And the dogs failed two thirds of the attempts. Imagine the reliability when these dogs test an apartment three months after the disappearance of a child.

Q – Were you surprised when you were made arguidos?

Kate – It was not surprising after weeks with the media saying that we were suspects. And there we have to ask why the information that reached the media was disfigured. Why do the newspapers say that blood was found in the apartment when the police report does not confirm it? Why was it said that the DNA that was found in the car was a 100% match with Madeleine's?

Gerry – In a way, we would like to have been accused so we could defend ourselves openly. Now, reading the process, there is no evidence that justifies the suspicion, apart from the dogs' action. There was never a sustained explanation. And the questioning: 'What happened to Madeleine? How did you get rid of her? Who helped you? Where did you put her?' All fantasy! If they had found DNA – so what? And if Madeleine had hurt herself inside the apartment – why would that be our fault?

Q – Do you investigate information that point towards Madeleine's death?

Kate – We want to find her alive, but if she is dead we want to know.
Q – Do you still believe that she's alive?

Kate – There are great possibilities that she is alive, aren't there? There is nothing in the process to indicate that something bad has happened to her…

Q – But there are no indicia that she has been abducted, either.

Gerry – We firmly believe that she was abducted by a man, minutes after I went to see her in the bedroom. There are two independent witnesses that saw a child of around four years of age being carried that evening. Our friend Jane Tanner and also the Smith family.

Q – The PJ discredits Jane Tanner's testimony. They say that when she saw said man with the child, you [Gerry] were chatting nearby and it was impossible that you hadn’t seen him as well…
Gerry – I didn't see her because my back was turned to the location where she passed. I was talking to a friend. And there is also the couple with children that saw a man carrying a child with pyjamas that were similar to Madeleine's, blond hair, the same age.

Q – Later on, that family stated that the man they saw was Gerry…

Gerry – At that time I was at the restaurant. The fact that we became suspects has probably influenced the Smiths' testimony.
Q – Was it a coincidence that you were made arguidos on one day and returned home the next day?

Gerry – They questioned us on that day because the PJ knew about our return.

Q – Were you afraid of being arrested?

Kate – Obviously. At a certain point we didn't know very well what could happen.

Gerry – From the information in the newspapers, of course we were afraid. It was scary.

Q – Being in England, you would not be extradited anymore.

Gerry – We asked the inspector that was in charge of the case if he had any objection: the answer was no. It's obvious that we were afraid that people might think we were escaping, but it was better not to be in Portugal at that point in time.

Q – Why?

Kate – Because of the hostile environment. We couldn't even leave the house.

Q – Why did Kate refuse to answer questions during your interrogation, that Gerry accepted to clarify the next day?

Kate – I was advised by my Portuguese lawyer not to reply.

Gerry – I received the same advice but decided to disobey. My plan was to remain silent, but the first question was: 'Are you involved in your daughter's disappearance?' It was nonsense and I decided to answer. From there onwards, I replied to all of them.Q – Why didn't you authorise the police to see the messages that you sent and received on your mobile phone on the eve of Maddie’s disappearance.

Gerry – Nobody asked to see my messages. On the day before and on the day of the disappearance I did not receive or send 16 messages. I could hardly write a text message. I received three or four phone calls and two were from work. After the disappearance I received hundreds. And when the police asked me for the registry, I told them to ask the service provider. My phone only registers the last ten.

Q – The chief inspector in the case, Tavares de Almeida, writes a report where he says that your friends lied to save you, that Maddie died in the living room, and that you hid the body.

Gerry – What can we say? You will have to ask the police chiefs why they wrote that, why they saw us as suspects.Q – The majority of crimes where the victims are children are committed by the parents.

Gerry – Not in the case of abducted children. And this is a case of an abducted child. It's an exceptional case.

Q – When he archived the case, the prosecutor said that the investigation can be reopened if a new clue appears. Do you think that is possible?

Kate – Of course! It could happen at any moment. All that it takes is for one person to make the phone call that we wait for so much. We know that she was abducted in Portugal and we vehemently believe that someone knows or suspects something.

"Mr Amaral's behaviour is a disgrace"They have not read the book that is a best-seller in Portugal. And they don't spare the author and former PJ inspectorQ – Former inspector Gonçalo Amaral remains convinced of your involvement in Madeleine's disappearance. Did you read 'The Truth of the Lie', the book that he wrote?

Kate and Gerry – No.

Kate – Why would I?

Gerry – I won't learn anything from reading it.

Q – It was a success in Portugal.

Gerry – Was it? How many copies did it sell?Q – Approximately 200 thousand. Next week, it is released in Spain.

Gerry – That is what can be called illicit enrichment.

Q – Your English lawyers already have a translated copy and they are analysing it. Do you intend to sue Gonçalo Amaral?

Gerry – At this moment we are focused on what we can do to find Madeleine and not in suing anyone.

Kate – All that I am going to say about this – because I'm not going to waste any time on Mr Amaral – is that as a professional and as a person his behaviour has been a disgrace.

Q – Aren't you curious to know what the book says?

Kate – What for? It must be nothing but a load of rubbish. It is so secondary… It certainly won't help to find our daughter. My consolation is that on the cover he calls her Maddie, the name that the media have invented. We never called her anything like that.

Q – But you do know the theory that Gonçalo Amaral defends: Madeleine accidentally died in the Ocean Club apartment and you concealed the body.

Gerry – It really is a waste of time. And we need all the time that we can get to analyse the investigation's documents, which contain a lot of information that we didn't know about.

Kate – You just have to cross, loosely, his theory with the process in order to understand that the facts that he reports are not correct.
Q – There is a theory that defends that the coordinator was removed from the investigation due to British political pressure.
Gerry – Who dismissed him?Q – The PJ's national director.

Gerry – Then you have to ask him if he was pressured. Or if Gordon Brown discussed the case with him. He surely didn't.

Q – He also resigned. And largely due to this process.

Gerry – That was not what I was told. Apparently he had a vision of the police itself that was different from the one held by the Justice Minister.

Q – In a final analysis, they both left the PJ because the investigation failed.

Gerry – That's not our fault. I do not criticize the authorities over not trying to find Madeleine. It doesn't matter anymore. Now all that matters is that we do everything to try to find her, through our own methods.

Q – Did you ever get to know Gonçalo Amaral?

Kate – The question is the other way around: did he get to know us?

*
There are photographs of her all over the houseGerry has returned to his work as a cardiologist. Kate did not exercise medicine again. Twins Sean and Amelie fill up her days as a mother.Q – How has your life changed with the disappearance of Madeleine?

Gerry – Independently of what happens, it will never be the same again. If you talk to the parents of other abducted children, they also mention this parallel life which we entered. Sean and Amelie, being so young, force us to introduce a certain normality in our lives, to make it normal for them. And it's them who, for moments, make it normal for us. But it will never be normal for us. They are aged three and a half, and they are very, very happy.Q – Did you explain to the twins what happened to their sister?

Kate – They perceive Madeleine's absence perfectly. I have no doubt whatsoever. But they don't know the details. They know that she disappeared and that we're looking for her.

Gerry – We were advised concerning what we should tell them, how and when. Larger explanations are kept for later. We realise that they miss their older sister. They know that her not being with us is not a good thing, and they hope that she returns.

Q – How do you keep Madeleine present in your lives?

Kate – There are photographs of her all over the house. And we speak about her with the twins every day – it's an important part of their lives. Sean and Amelie talk about her and still include her in their playing… If they receive sweets, they say "Let's keep one for Madeleine". Or "When she comes home I'll give her this or that". It's endearing and it makes our days less difficult.

Q – Did you fear that you might lose custody over Sean and Amelie because your behaviour was considered to be negligent?

Gerry – We were not negligent, we did what any reasonable parent would do. But we deeply regret what happened, because in our action, someone saw an opportunity to take Madeleine. I'm an optimistic person. I never thought that something like this could happen.Q – Did you change the manner in which you deal with Sean and Amelie?

Gerry – We are more protective and less trusting. We never left our children alone again and many families will never do so again because of us.

Kate – Now we think about everything that can happen, about predators, abductors. We don't even let go of them in the shopping centre.

*€1.200.000The McCanns say that the fund has spent €1.2 million with the private investigation. But the reward of €3 million still standsQ – How much have you spent on the private investigation so far?

Gerry – Approximately one million pounds, over the past ten months, paid with money from the Find Madeleine fund. A substantial sum was also spent on our defence, but two benefactors have covered that expense, which means that the fund was solely used in the search for our daughter.Q – Do you maintain the offer of 2.5 million ponds to whoever finds Madeleine?

Gerry – We do not control that reward, but everything leads me to believe that it still stands. And that there will also be money available for whoever supplies credible information.

Kate – It's a lot of money, but we cannot set limits, a child is priceless. We'll pay whatever is necessary.

Q – Is there still money left in the fund?

Gerry – There is still some money left. Recently, British newspapers ('Express newspapers') paid us compensation of 550 thousand pounds, which fed the fund. That had an important impact. And there are still donations, people who send money directly.Q – But less than in the beginning, before you were made arguidos.

Gerry – Of course! Those who were in doubt stopped contributing. Many write to us asking for forgiveness because they believed in our guilt. We know that we have to make an effort for people to know that there is no evidence that Madeleine is dead and that we were not involved in the disappearance.

*Other issuesDogs – "We read everything that we found about these dogs that detect cadavers. It was due to them that we became suspects"Clues – "The sightings continue. Since May we received one thousand phone calls and an equal number of emails, some containing relevant data"Media exposure – "Appearing in the media was never good. We did it to publicise Madeleine's face and to find her. We failed"Background

Details of two hours of conversationKate and Gerry are different. More relaxed, or conformed. It is difficult to tell. "The twins force us to a certain normality", the mother explains. It's been 16 months and the mystery of the disappearance of Madeleine McCann remains unsolved.

The parents have already been victims of a tragedy and suspects of a terrible crime. The process was archived, but they are judged every day. Gerry agrees: "From the moment when the suspicion is installed, we can never prove our innocence".

This is the first interview since the process was archived, on the 21st of July. It is scheduled in Rothley, a small village in the British Midlands where nobody suspects the McCanns' guilt. Even less the owner of the Court House Hotel, which is installed in a medieval building and where the interview is held, in the late afternoon last Monday. There is tea with milk and biscuits. There is no guide and there are no forbidden questions.

In almost two hours of interview, Kate and Gerry, both 40, clearly state the intention that supports their availability for the conversation. "We believe that in Portugal someone knows about Madeleine, that it is where the solution for our daughter's disappearance lies". And they want that person, whether singular or collective, to know that they search for him, that they ensure his anonymity and that they will even give him 2.5 million pounds if he tells them where Madeleine is.

Every day, in their very British house of little bricks, they study a little more of the process of the Polícia Judiciária's investigation, which they personally consult as it is being translated. They understand "nothing" of Portuguese. From a first reading they reinforced their hope of finding Maddie alive. Nothing tells them that she is dead. The volumes about themselves, from the time when they were made arguidos, have been put aside. "We do not intend to read them".

They remind them of the days when they were afraid of being arrested in Portugal, accused of Madeleine's death.

Gerry McCann buried Madeleine's body on the beach, Portuguese detective says Telegraph

The Portuguese detective who was sacked as head of the team investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann has accused her father of burying her body on the beach near their holiday apartment the same night that she was reported missing.

By David Harrison
Last Updated: 5:56PM BST 06 Sep 2008

In the latest of a series of extraordinary claims about the case, Goncalo Amaral, says he believes that Maddy died accidently in the McCann's rented flat as the result of a fall and that her father disposed of the body.

The disgraced detective - who has sold 120,000 copies of a book he has just published a book about the case - says an Irishman had claimed that he had seen Mr McCann with a child in his arms walking towards the beach on the night that Maddy reportedly disappeared.

The McCanns dismissed the claims, made in an interview with a Spanish newspaper, as "ridiculous".

Clarence Mitchell, the family's spokesman, said: "As Kate has said today Mr Amaral is a complete disgrace.

"His comments are grossly defamatory and utterly without foundation."

Mr Amaral, who has now retired from Portugal's Judicial Police investigation force, says in the El Mundo newspaper: "The Portuguese police, like the British [police], and also the prosecutor, who has now changed his opinion, thought the same. We are talking of a death involving third parties, not of homicide.

"In the bedroom blood and the smell of a body were found just below a window where there was a sofa. The father was there for a short time just outside this window having a conversation with a friend.

"The parents said the girl did not have a bad dream. Maybe the girl heard the father and climbed onto the sofa under the window. But the parents had pulled it away from the wall. so that the girl would not get out, and Madeleine could have fallen."

The former policeman talks about the Irish witness seeing Mr McCann carrying a child towards the beach and about sniffer dogs finding traces of blood and the scent of a body on the wall of the apartment and in the boot of a car the couple hired 23 days after Maddy disappeared.

This prompts the interviewer to ask: "Gerry McCann buried his daughter on the beach and then disinterred her and put her in the boot 23 days later?"

Amaral replies: "We don't know. The Irish witness I have spoken about saw on television Gerry with a child in his arms arriving in the United Kingdom and declared it was the same image that he had seen in May in Portugal. This man went two days without sleeping when he realised what he had discovered."

The interviewer says that Amaral's claim implies that the Tapas Nine - the McCanns and their friends who dined together on the night of Maddy's disappearance - had all ageed to lie.

Amaral says: "All of them. Because, in case you don't know, British legislation covering negligence in caring for children is very hard...In the United Kingdom, if you leave a child alone for half an hour you will lose custody. After the death of Madeleine, if it had been made public that it was an accident, all of them would have lost custody [of their children]."

The former detective describes how on one occasion during a meeting Kate McCann had lowered her head and seemed to be totally distracted for several seconds before coming back to being her usual self. "It appeared that she had escaped from the role that she was interpreting," he says.

Asked how she reacted when she was asked if Maddy had been killed by falling from the sofa he replies: "She didn't say anything, she just lowered her head for a moment as if she was on the point of fainting. She had an emotional crack that lasted for just a moment."

Amaral adds: "For me, Gerry hid the body of Madeleine on the beach. And after some days he transfered it to his car. We were working in this direction.

"We lacked establishing the date, some details, but we were on the way. The Irishman was on the point of coming to Portugal, but it took too long, and there were external pressures. In the end he didn't make a statement to the [Judicial] Police."

A friends of the McCanns dismissed Amaral's claims as "nonsense and legally extremely dangerous", and said that Kate and Gerry would sue Amaral if he published his book in the UK.

Mr Mitchell said: "Mr Amaral needs to be very careful in repeating those allegations. Kate and Gerry's lawyers are watching his words very carefully.

"He is also completely at odds with with his own Attorney-General who, in lifting Kate and Gerry's "arguido" - official suspect - status, made it clear that there is no evidence to suggest they are guilty of any crime whatsoever."

Mr Amaral has a law degree and unlike what many people here in the UK seem to think there are many very rich people in Portugal. It is not hard to think that one may step forward and assist Mr.Amaral further. It is very clear to any rational thinking human being that the McCanns are withholding information and it is more than likely that information is evidence that would incriminate them. It is only right that the money they are using to prop up their story be given to the man who led the investigation who believes they are involved in her vansihing off the face of this earth.

bath theory said...

So Claudia help Mr Amaral locate a rich Portugese businessman and he can use the monies to take the McCanns & Clarence & the newspapers overhere that acted for them in specific articles to court.

bath theory said...

Or indeed a rich Portugese businesslady who will let her monies be used to help protect Mr.Amaral's reputation and expose the charade

I believe we are not too far now from a level playing field.

GA's problem is not the money but the fact that the legal profession in the UK refuse to act for him. He has asked.

"Kate – It's difficult to describe how it feels to have our daughter taken away… We want to see action everywhere. We wanted spotlights, we wanted helicopters, we wanted everyone on the street, searching."

Everyone searching!!!!! Not you Gerry or any of your freinds though!!!!

"Gerry – We do not control that reward, but everything leads me to believe that it still stands. And that there will also be money available for whoever supplies credible information."

Everything leads me to believe it still stands??? WTF Gerry give up now your Daughter is missing and you dont know if the reward is still available??? As much as you and Kate revolte me with your happy pictures and lack of cooperation with anyone if there was a chance that Madeleine was alive I would pay myself towards a reward for her return...

What a sickening Pair the reward has hardly been mentioned by them the money in the Reward fund was offered out of Love for Madeleine McCann because she deserved a chance if she was really missing what's the matter Gerry does the reward get you as you cant touch it unless Madeleine is found.

Keep talking both of you I could pick holes in all of that interview but really cant be bothered...

Poor Madeleine you just dont care do you!

Daft question but...

If the McCann's sued GA I take it he would have to come to England for a trial???

So if GA sues the McCanns would they not have to return to Portugal???

I’ve just finished reading the first article Viv posted today.

Gerry spins to mislead with the USA dog study’s findings. There is a distinct difference from failing to detect human remains in a jumble of other rotting items to detecting human remains and alerting the handler to them. In other words the dogs not indicating falsely that human remains were there when they were not.

This distinction is critical to understand the findings of dogs in apartment 5A and Gerry is aware of this and tries to fudge the findings to produce an impression of unreliability. In the case of apartment 5A and the rental car he would have us believe the cadaver dog was wrong 7 times. E.g. Madeleine and Kate’s clothing, the wheel well of the car, behind the settee in the sitting room and at the bottom shelf of the cupboard in the bedroom, fob of the car keys and the Kate’s bible. (The blood dog of course was proved right a fact, of course, he does not mention).

If dogs were as unreliable as Gerry suggests they would never be used!

Wizard said...

In the parallel universe inhabited by Team McCann it’s a wonder we are not being told they stored decomposing chicken/Sunday roast behind the settee and also in the cupboard of the bedroom. Perhaps this doesn’t sound like squeaky clean Kate – two showers in a hour – McCann.

Morning Wizard

The fact he has to mislead is another clear sign to me that he is worried and fears being found out...

What the arrogant prat does not realise is an innocent person does not have to justify themselves over and over again spinning black into white makes them look very very bad in the eyes of the general public.

Nothing people hate more than being conned and when it is over something as precious as a 3 year old little girl who was first ignored and neglected for most of her holiday along with her siblings the contempt for these two is increased 100 fold...

For now they seem to have got away with it lets hope they do lots more of these arrogant interviews every time they look worse than before...

Claudia, your words 'Bath Theory, this has got nothing to do with money whatsoever'

Well I thought we all agreed on here that without the money behind them this couple like Mrs Matthews found out would be exposed. I see no reason given that both Portugal
and Britain are in Europe that Amaral cannot take certain people and newspapers to court for defamation od character or whatever the correct term is. To me Claudia this whole case shows that money is central to this case from so many angles. I would love you to explain why it has nothing to do with it. Very rarely has money nothing to do with issues. What is the context of your statement?

bath theory said...

Wizard, I like your expression of a parallel universe.

The reliability of any scientific experiment, as conducted by the US team Gerry mentions, is the ease the findings can be duplicated by other researchers using exactly the same technique. One study does not prove anything i.e. it could be contaminated and flawed unintentionally by the researchers. The study has to be conducted by others numerous times with the same results to prove the hypothesis. Does anyone know of any other findings especially findings that show dramatically wrong indications of detecting human corpse remains by dogs? For example a dog indicating the scent of human remains incorrectly 7 times out of 7 attempts.

It may answer your question. The information was from Claudia on her blog.

Hope, to be honest, I have no idea. But I think it is not easy for the McCanns to sue in the UK and for Mr Amaral to sue in portugal. But I have no legal backgound whatsoever.

Cláudia said...

Bath Theory, I already gave you my opinion on that yesterday. The reason why Mr Amaral may not have luck in trying to sue has got nothing whatsoever to do with money. The problem is finding a lawyer in the UK who would take the case. As I explained yesterday he managed to find two of them previously who accepted the case and then backtracked and said: Sorry, no can do. The reason why lawyers in ther UK will not accept the case is the same reason why the UK press only publishes oink crap.
Even if Mr Amaral did not have enough money, that would never be a problem. As soon as His Pinkness started shouting sue threats, many, many people commenting Portuguese newspaper articles immediately said they would donate to pay for Mr Amaral's lawyer so he wouldn't have to spend a cent of his own money.

Good morning everyone!

ICTOAN - BT -

Having worked for lawyers for most of my working life, I am surprised that not one of them has come forward to act for GA in view of the high profile the case would attract and the ensuing cash rewards! This makes me feel that there is political interference from a high level preventing them doing so, bearing in mind the assistance the McCanns have had from the very beginning which is unparallelled in British legal history in a case like this I should think!

We mustn't give up hope though - there must be a lawyer out there who will take on GA's case - there are always moles everywhere and in this case he or she would be a very welcome mole!!

Wzard, the interesting part is that Gerry uses the Zapata case to rubish the dogs' work and say how unreliable they are. What he fails to mention is that in the Zapata case the dogs were right all along and that the murderer is now in jail after having confessed to the crime.
Ironic or what? :-)

Wizard said...

Claudia, well noted.

Cláudia said...

Wizard, isn't he embarrassed to quote a case of a murderer who confessed to his crime to ribbish the dogs' work? Well, I guess not. He also doesn't seem embarrassed about leaving three toddlers home alone to eat, drink and have fun.

ICTOAN & Claudia
Two points.
1)Did he go to every barristers chamber in London town?Claudia please feel free to e-mail all the places he went and I will check to see if my connections are included in that list. Viv & Doc have my e-mail
2)Even if he did and not one person would help him, which I find hard to believe,he can represent himself ?
3)If all else fails he could buy advertising space and use that as a medium to contact the public. Ring Clear Channel and see if they turn down the money. If they do then print thousands of leaflets and deliver them direct. The only thing these strategies need are money. If people in the establishment get in the way you go directly to the people which is what he is now doing via his book. These are more assertive options which as we said only require money.

So Claudia what is the context of saying money is not the issue. To me I would like to eat prawns and steak everyday but I don't because I can't afford it. If I had limitless money that option or choice would be available. If Amaral is backed by a huge wealthy person they would be able to widen his options. Wealthy people have connections and power and thus MONEY is, was and always will be the main issue in most things in life.

Now people like you and I are not so easily swayed as others by the power of the greenback but those in mighty powerful positions are. It is one reason why those in power lose something of themselves when they take on such jobs. They take the easy route and go along with the status quo.

So of course whilst I realise you don't have to answer my question it would help if you clarified why you made that comment about money not being the issue.

Thanks for that lengthy but very interesting thread today. I take my hat off to the interviewer - he or she did a much better job than our media by asking them very pertinent and direct questions for a change! They really were put on the spot more than a few times and hurrah for that! They are such a shallow pair I'm sure their answers had been stored in their heads so as not to put a foot wrong; but I don't think for one moment they were believed!

Guilty (but not charged YET unfortunately)!!

Ok just seen your post whilst writing the previous one. Even if political interference is there right now Brown will be gone soon so that part will free him up to employ a suitable barrister.

bath theory said...

Just a question of time now.

Cláudia said...

Bath Theory, you seem not to understand what I mean. And I can't explain it more than I have. The reason why Mr Amaral can't get a lawyer to represent him in the UK has nothing to do with money. If it had, no lawyer would have accepted the case. They did and then backtracked.

"1)Did he go to every barristers chamber in London town?Claudia please feel free to e-mail all the places he went and I will check to see if my connections are included in that list."

How am I supposed to know that? What I know is what Mr Amaral stated. And what he stated was exactly what I just said. I know Mr Amaral has made contacts in London. That's all. And I also know that he may not have said everything about this and that sometimes surprises happen.

Bath Theory -

In my opinion, even if GA managed to get the best lawyers in the land to present his case, bearing in mind the backing the McCanns have had from those who pull the strings in the UK, I doubt he would win! However, he would get his findings relayed to all corners of the globe so that would certainly help his case and, at the same time, make the McCanns, CM and the media come down from their lofty perches!! It might also get the tapas pals to finally end their deafening silence!!

So bring it on GA!

docmac said...

Can not comment on this subject.

Next thing we'll be hearing that some of the tapas lot owned mobile phones and wore watches. Or even that when Gerry was witnessed making a cash withdrawal at an ATM in Lagos he was actually using a card. Very unhelpful article.

Doc, Correio da Manhã and 24 Horas are reporting that Mr Amaral is seriously thinking about suing their butts. The man is doing his best to be sued and nothing. It seems he'll have to do it! ;-)

Gerry – Some report sightings, but it's not likely that they lead to our daughter. We are more interested in people that offer credible information that can be verified through photographs or in another form..

Careful Gerry, Rosiepops will report anyone who takes a photo of a child as a paedophile. Oh wait, that's brilliant! You'll have someone to frame then.

docmac said...

Gerry – If it had happened in a British city, I have no doubts. But I don't know if it would have been different if we had been in a small village in Scotland. Clearly, the English police are more experienced in abductions, they are more alert.

No Gerry, they are not 'more alert'. It's because there are so many more abductions in England.

docmac said...

Gerry – We wouldn't mind if we had been investigated at the beginning, if they thought that could help. But months later, when the evidence had been lost? It's that once the suspicion is installed, we can never prove our innocence again.

docmac said...

Q – Didn't you find it strange that the dogs found traces of blood in your room and in your rental car…

Gerry – There was no blood found! The indicia are worthless if they are not corroborated by forensic information. And they were not.

Doesn't give a shit does he? Bustard.

docmac said...

Q – Were you surprised when you were made arguidos?

Kate – It was not surprising after weeks with the media saying that we were suspects.

Really? Then why did you look like you'd been hit by the sad truck? And why did Gerry look like he'd been slapped repeatedly with a wet skunk?

docmac said...

Kate – There are great possibilities that she is alive, aren't there? There is nothing in the process to indicate that something bad has happened to her…

Nope, paedophiles are just great with kids.

Careful Gerry -

As has often been said on here:

Slowly, slowly, catchee monkee!!

Gerry – We firmly believe that she was abducted by a man, minutes after I went to see her in the bedroom. There are two independent witnesses that saw a child of around four years of age being carried that evening. Our friend Jane Tanner and also the Smith family.

Would you agree to an unscripted live TV debate with Martin Smith and Jane Tanner Gerry? Would you?

docmac said...

I don't think they've proved their innocence at all to the vast majority of the public, but maybe they have to themselves. After all they only left a vulnerable child with two younger siblings while going out to enjoy themselves in a strange apartment in a foreign country!

Just how do they sleep at night knowing Madeleine would be alive and well and with her family if they had not been completely selfish, especially bearing in mind Madeleine had been complaining about them not coming when she was crying the previous night - would any responsible and loving parent have ignored that plea from a 3 year old and repeated their actions the following evening?

docmac said...

Q – Aren't you curious to know what the book says?

Kate – What for? It must be nothing but a load of rubbish. It is so secondary…!!!!!!!!!! It certainly won't help to find our daughter. My consolation is that on the cover he calls her Maddie, the name that the media have invented. We never called her anything like that.?????????

docmac said...

Oh really, I thought all your time was devoted to 'finding Madeleine'! I must have been mistaken.

So, Brian Kennedy is going to financially support the McCanns for the rest of his life if necessary, as reported in the Mail on Sunday.

They are also going to hire their 5th Private detectives, I know of M3and Oakley, does anyone know who the others were?

What would make someone like Brian Kennedy make such a pledge? it is totally bizarre.

I'll fund the McCanns until they find Maddie, vows double-glazing tycoon Kennedy

The multi-millionaire tycoon financing Kate and Gerry McCann's search for their daughter has said he will support them for the rest of his life if necessary.

Double-glazing magnate Brian Kennedy, 48, said he would use his estimated £450million fortune to back the couple as long as Madeleine remained missing.

His pledge will alleviate concerns about what will happen when Madeleine's Fund, made up largely of public donations, runs out. There is currently less than £500,000 in the kitty, with £1million having already been spent on the hunt for Madeleine since her disappearance in May last year.

Missing: £1m has been spent seeking Madeleine but glazing millionaire Kennedy has offered to pay for the rest of his life

Team McCann is now hiring a fifth group of private investigators to help with the search.

Mr Kennedy, who has five children with his wife Christine, lives in Wilmslow, Cheshire, and made his money through double-glazing firm Everest. He had not met the McCanns before offering his help but now speaks to them almost daily.

A source said: ‘Mr Kennedy got involved after seeing Kate on television after she became an arguido. He felt compelled to do something. A fifth company is going to be hired.

'Everything that can be done is being done. But it is like looking for a grain of sand on a sea shore. The team are just desperate for leads now.’

The couple's lawyers are still sifting through 13,000 pages of Portuguese police files, released last month. One team of investigators believed they had found Madeleine in Morocco last year – but it turned out to be an American girl being kept against her will in a dispute between her parents.

‘It was desperately disappointing when it turned out not to be Madeleine,’ said a source. ‘It was a low point for everyone concerned.’

Madeleine’s Fund is already paying investigators Metodo 3, Control Risks, Oakley International and an unnamed fourth company.

Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns' spokesman, said: ‘We will leave no stone unturned in finding Madeleine.

I have just googled Control Risks this is what they do.

What we do

Control Risks is an independent, specialist risk consultancy. We provide advice and services that enable our clients to accelerate opportunities and manage strategic and operational risks. Mmmmmmm

Perhaps they were helping them with the wider agenda.

hope4truth said...

Hello DI

The crazy thing is they have wasted over a million (yeah right) on a fraud investigation firm and have come up with nothing.

There is well over a million in rewards that they cant spend unless of course she is found and they dont bother to publicise it and Gerry is not even sure if it is still available???

Peadophiles may be a tight little group of evil people but for a million pounds they would turn in their own Mother for the cash yet nothing...

The wider agenda is all about them not a care for Madeleine and her suffering because no matter what happend to that poor child she suffered night after night alone crying for parents who even after she told them about it left her again...

Hello Hope

I totally agree it is all about them.

We have also been told that Madeleine had sleep problems, I think it was Kate's mother who revealed this.

So why would responsible parents go out night after night, leaving the doors unlocked when Madeleine could have easily left the apartment to look for them and come to great harm.

I personally don't think the doors were ever left unlocked, it just fits nicely into their abduction plan, and as I said yesterday they are both in denial.

Soft toy found by death smell - Correio da Manhã

Investigation: CM reveals images of the dogs’ work

The cadaver odour on Madeleine McCann’s soft toy was proved when the sniffer dog was able to find it while hidden inside a closed cupboard.

The process of the toy’s marking is demonstrated by the images from the investigation’s videos that are published by Correio da Manhã, as well as the moment when the springer spaniel that is trained to detect the smell of death, changes its behaviour next to a piece of Kate’s clothing.

The cadaver odour on the soft toy was marked inside the residence that was being occupied by the McCanns in July 2007, but the experts repeated the diligence in a scenario outside the house, where the dog, ‘Eddie’, gave signal again.

Confronted with the indicia that resulted from the inspection done by the dogs, which are widely used in the United Kingdom – English expert Martin Grime asserts that in over two hundred searches, the sniffer dogs have never marked a false positive – the Polícia Judiciária questioned Kate and Gerry and made them arguidos. The authorities were forced to admit a possible involvement of the McCann couple in their daughter’s disappearance and to confront them with elements that could result in incrimination.

Kate McCann, who after Maddie’s disappearance was accompanied everywhere – and in a visible manner – of her daughter’s favourite toy, did not deny the fact that two pieces of her clothing and her daughter’s soft toy had been marked by the English dog that is trained to detect cadaver odour and justified the fact with her profession: she alleged that as a doctor at the Health Centre in Leicester she attended six death situations during the period immediately before her vacation time in Portugal.

Manipulated evidence

The soft toy was found on the bed where Maddie allegedly slept on the night that she went missing, but on the bed, no cadaver odour was detected, contrary to the soft toy. This fact led the Polícia Judiciária to believe that the crime scene was manipulated in order to better justify the abduction theory that is sustained by the McCanns and their friends.

In one of the investigation reports the inspectors write that the soft toy was placed on the bed’s end in a moment that was posterior to the disappearance. “There was an intentional modification, in an attempt to take advantage for the simulation of the abduction scenario”, the process reads.

McCanns devalue dogs

Kate and Gerry McCann continue to defend that Madeleine McCann was abducted on the evening of the 3rd of May 2007, in the Algarve, and they devalue the indicia that was collected during the investigation – mainly the traces that were detected by the sniffer dogs.

“The frailty of these dogs was proved in a study that was carried out in the USA”, the McCanns stated in an interview to ‘Expresso’, reiterating the hope of finding their daughter alive: “We want to find her alive, but if she’s dead we want to know. There is nothing in the process to indicate that something bad has happened to her.”

Kate and Gerry say that they “firmly” believe that Maddie was abducted by a man and they criticise the former case coordinator, Gonçalo Amaral, who defends the homicide theory. “His behaviour has been a disgrace”, they said, considering that the success of his book is a case of “illicit enrichment”.

Thats good enough for me!

docmac said...

'Shingle' says:

If anyone has watched this video of the dogs alerting to the car, it is quite clear that the handler has to call the dog back several times before it alerts.

Um, these instructions are used with all sniffer dogs.

Why would he need to do this? It was not done to the other cars, and it is clear from the video that the dog is not interested in the Renault.

You have the whole video? Would you be so kind as to upload it and post the link? I would love to see it.

It is also well to remember that the last people to use this car were the police when they drove it to the garage.

Condolences to family of the policeman who perished in the wheel well while on duty.

Are some people REALLY this uneducated in the UK now? Mind you, as this poster refers to 'the fat controller' in a rather poorly concealed attempt to get a jibe in at Viv, it is obviously yet another alias :-)))))

Hi all,

'Gerry – Some report sightings, but it's not likely that they lead to our daughter.'

Mmmm...why would reported sightings not lead to the daughter you claim is missing? Surely any parent with the amount of funds donated by the public that you have would personally check out every sighting of their missing child, quietly just to be sure.

'We are more interested in people that offer credible information that can be verified through photographs or in another form..'

Mmmm...would that be the pics that have been speculated in the Press recently, the one at Chaplins perhaps?

With regard to the REWARD:

'Gerry – We do not control that reward, but everything leads me to believe that it still stands. And that there will also be money available for whoever supplies credible information.

So is this the reason why you never offer it up as an incentive to get your daughter back. Looks like the £2.5 million is no longer available to you. Making this info known would not look good in the eyes of the public. Any parent in your circumstances would know if it was still there, not 'believe that it still stands'.

I do not know if there is Government backing or support for this pair. What about the July court hearing where they were not granted access to British police files. They got 81 out of 11,000. There was Senior police representation at that court hearing. The 81 files were info they already had and lost. I am still hoping Viv is right and that this is being investigated here in the UK. It cannot be accepted or allowed that a group of Brits go on holiday with their children, systematically neglect them night after night, one disappears, all the info from PT in the files IMO does not make them squeaky clean and they effectively are not held accountable for anything. Viv I still have faith in what you say and I do believe that is why you are so viciously attacked, they do not like you making that information available on line.

I support and admire greatly Gonçalo Amaral, former head of the investigation into Madeleine McCann's disappearance. I am looking forward to being able to buy his book, preferably here in the UK. If it is available to buy in the UK then I do hope extracts of it are in the UK Press/Media, there can surely be no threats to sue the UK Press/Media as all they have to do is claim that the are quoting from a book that the former head of the investigation into Madeleine McCann's disappearance wrote. This I am sure is the reason why certain parties have tried to have this book blocked in the UK, they do not want people who would never read a book anyway or who have not followed the case to have access to such damning information, IMO. If Gonçalo Amaral ever has to set up a Fund for legal fees then I pledge here today that I will at least donate to his legal Fund the same amount that I have to pay to buy his book here in the UK.

New slur on Madeline McCann's father Gerry by shamed cop
By Nick Owens 7/09/2008

Gerry and Kate McCann
Shamed Portuguese detective Goncalo Amaral stooped to a new low last night - disgracefully claiming Gerry McCann buried daughter Madeleine on a beach the night she went missing.

In his most sickening outburst yet, sacked Amaral said Gerry went back days later to move her body so the police would never find it.

Last night Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns official spokesman, said: "Mr Amaral is a complete disgrace. His repetitive slurs are not only grossly defamatory but they are completely unfounded.

"What he says is so utterly at odds with reality it beggars belief.

"Kate and Gerry are looking and watching at everything he does and will not hesitate to take legal action against him if he continues to act in this sickening manner." Last week Kate herself spoke angrily about Amaral. She said: "As a professional and a person he has been a disgrace."

Perhaps the key to this is we are told by G & K it was usual to bath the kids first then take them to play for a while by the tennis courts. Both G&K would then return to 5A change the kids into their night clothes and put them to bed. That was the routine.

On the evening of 3rd May this routine changed hence GM asking DP to call on Kate and ask her if she and the kids were coming over (6.30pm). DP tells us that Kate says the kids are tired and already in their pyjamas and won’t be going out again. She answers the door to him in a towel as she has just had a shower.

At about 7.30 after the kids are in bed Kate tells us she has a bath, puts on her make-up and has a glass of New Zealand wine with Gerry. They leave at about 8.30 for the tapis bar.

Gerry says after the kids are in bed he and Kate showered and relax over a glass of sauvignon blanc. They leave at about 8.30 for the tapis bar.

The blood spatter detected by the dogs could have been on the clothing of the perpetrator. The clean up by the perpetrator/s might mean clothing or parts of the their bodies came in contact with blood. It would be necessary for the perpetrator/s to shower/bath even it they had just bathed prior to when the blood splatter occurred.

I’m not sure if the last paragraph is clear or as clear as mud but I hope you follow my argument.

When Brown leaves office these two will certainly go down in my opinion and even if he is still there his mafia type scottish groupies who all look after one another may well be forced to let go of adopting these two into the club due to the overwhelming evidence accruing.
I would like to know from G&K what their closest family members think about them looking after their other two children. As I said yesterday I would rather leave my children with Eddie & Keela than G&K as a babysitter.

I thought that the McCann's said they hadn't read the book so how can Gerry say that what GA says is so utterly at odds it beggars belief!

What really beggars belief is that these two child neglecters and their tapas pals have still got their heads in the sand and are unable to face the truth which is that it was their actions that caused Madeleine to disappear in the first place. GA is not a child neglecter but a man who shows that he cares deeply for children.

They should biting the hand the man who did everything he could to help find Madeleine along with all the PJ's and the people of PdeLuz whose help has been so ungratefully received. These Police gave up their holidays and worked many extra hours to help look for Madeleine and the reaction of the McCanns has been disgraceful.

Did they really not expect to be made the main suspects being the last people to see their daughter alive, or did they expect to be treated differently from normal parents whose child had disappeared from the face of the earth!

Did they ever get in touch with that young priest who suffered so much because of their selfish actions? I think we all know the answer to that.

Still, not to worry, I see Uncle Brian has promised to finance them; which I predicted yesterday, so he'll be there to cushion their falls when they eventually fall from those pedestals!

Hi Nancy

I have to agree with Hope on this one, anyone normal when finding their child missing would have screamed from the balcony and not left the twins alone. Don't forget the Tapas bar was only like being in their back garden.

We’ve heard from the parallel universe now 3A reports on a vision from beyond. I copy below.

06.09.2008
A clairvoyant who claims to have worked for Metodo 3 accuses parents to hide the accidental death of Maddie

A visionary, Spain, ensures that the body of Madeleine was launched at sea by his own parents after an accidental death caused by a too large dose of medication, "his mother tried to make her react , she shakes her, hit her, this is where the blood squirts. "

According Emilce Oliva, "this night, a man carries the child in arms. What I did not imagine that it was her father."

This personn, which deserves as much credibility as any other - and there were hundreds around the case - also claims to have worked with the agency detectives Catalan Metodo 3, what, theese responsible for the agency have refused to confirm, saying it is confidential information.

According to the clair-voyant, a native of Argentina, but residing in Spain, the night of the disappearance of Maddie, there would have been only his parents and a friend of the couple to be present.

"What happened that night was an accident, the child received too much sedative. That is why I see that the mother is trying to make her react, she shakes her, moves her, hits her, and this is when (Maddie) discharges blood through the nose, "says the visionary.

Of course he is flawed and has made terrible mistakes in this case, but his reputation and future life is just as important as is the two McCanns.

This is so ridiculous, that a man supposed to be a senior investigative officer can come out with such a load of nonsense, no wonder this investigation reached such

a dire state and no wonder this man was sacked and I hope he gets what is coming to him this month. Poor Madeleine and her parents never stood a chance if this

man Goncalo Amaral, is the standard of policing in Portugal, then God help the young, the old, the sick and the vulnerable in trouble and in need of a reliable

trustworthy above reproach police force. Goncalo Amaral epitomises all that is wrong with the Portuguese police force.

Ex Portuguese police chief claims that Gerry McCann hid the body of Madeleine McCann on the beach

Sep 6, 2008 - 11:36 AM

The ex Director of the Criminal Investigation department of the Police in Portimao, Gonçalo Amaral, who head the team searching for Madeleine McCann, has

given an interview in today’s El Mundo newspaper.

The man who was sacked after making the parents suspects in the case claims that Gerry McCann hid Madeleine’s body on the beach, and that the child died

from an accident, claiming she could have fallen off the sofa or there could have been an overdose of Capel, a sleeping drug.

1...If Gerry McCann hid Madeleine's body on the beach, where is it now? Ask Gerry, not us. I don't suppose a couple of hundred tides would

not have helped reveal it, not to mention tourists, or those searching for her?
You mean laptop boy and his moll?

2...If Amaral thought that Gerry buried Madeleine on the beach, why did he *NOT* take up the British dog handler's offer of allowing Eddie to comb the beach

of Praia da Luz?
Is that 'offer' a matter of record in the official files?

3...If Madeleine dies of an accident, why her parents both doctors did not simply request an ambulance, why on God's earth would they concoct such a highly

convoluted story involving many witnesses being sworn to secrecy to ostensibly hide what was just an accident?
She didn't suffer an accidental death. You

have told us this hundreds of times.

4...it is NOT Capel, it is Calpol.

* Calpol is as (all parents know in Britain) liquid paracetamol.
* Liquid paracetamol does NOT have any sedative properties, other than giving pain relief and lowering fever, which naturally would settle a fractious

uncomfortable tired baby or small child and help them to sleep.
* Even if Madeleine's parents *BOTH* doctors had somehow managed to give this child an overdose of liquid paracetamol, or even if Madeleine herself had

managed to get the bottle an drink the whole lot in one go, it would *NOT* kill her immediately, in fact if medical treatment is sought immediately then the effects of

drinking a whole bottle of Calpol can normally be reversed.
* Paracetamol kills by damaging the liver, it does not kill by sedation and depression of the respiratory system ie it does NOT stop you breathing. In fact people

with paracetamol damage often appear fit and well as the damage to the liver is insidious.
* There is an antidote to paracetamol overdose and as doctors Madeleine's parents would be aware of this.
* Provided the antidote is given within 12 hours, a complete recovery can be made.
* Even if the antidote is given beyond 12 hours and within 48 hours, paracetamol toxicity on the liver can be reversed in most cases of a previously healthy person.
* There could *NOT* have been a build up in Madeleine's system of paracetamol given over a number of days, as paracetamol is *NOT* stored by the body it is

metabolised and providing dosages are kept to within safe limits, toxicity should not build up in normal fit healthy people with healthy livers.
Quite an

obsession with Calpol, eh? Trying to divert attention from diazepam or promethazine perchance?

The ex Police chief, whose book on the case has sold 120,000 copies in two weeks – a record in Portugal, claims there are many inconsistencies in the case.

Yes there are many inconsistencies in this case and 99.9% stemmed from the involvement of Goncalo Amaral AHEM! and what he should have

done at a certain time and *FAILED* to do and what he should NOT have done at a certain time and did. ie.

* He SHOULD have attended the scene of a missing toddler, vanished from her bed in the night and he did NOT.
You were there!
* He should NOT have allowed the world and his brother to contaminate a crime scene. Who, Gerry?
* Amaral should NOT have assumed Madeleine a little girl had simply woken up an wandered off in a strange place in a foreign country. He had a

number of theories. I think you may have confused him with Kate, who was convinced Maddie had been abducted. Anyway, you just said he wasn't there.

* I could go on and on the catastrophic list of Amaral/Portuguese police blunders is endless! Name them, with proof.

He says a window which Kate McCann claims was found open when Maddie vanished was in fact always closed, and he speaks of an Irish witness who said he

saw Gerry McCann with a girl in his arms walking down to the beach on the night she disappeared.

Amaral says the window that was open was always closed. How would Amaral know this? He was NOT there, how could he say if it was open or closed?

Ummmm, let's see...forensics? Amaral did NOT attend the scene the night Madeleine disappeared. We know this to be true, because you have

just said it for the third time and the second time in this paragraph
Why has Amaral decided to say this about this window? Does Amaral detect that his

(Amaral's) whole thinly fabricated tissue of non facts comes crashing down?
Amaral was a lone ranger, working entirely on his own. There were absolutely

no other police officers in Portugal at the time to contradict this statement. Lucky him.

So much is made of this "Irish Witness" where is he? In Ireland. If this witness statement is so important why did both Amaral and later Rebelo

not question him further
;-))))))) and provide proper witness testaments and again if what this witness saw was so important, why is it that the

Portuguese Attorney General (a) does not agree
;-))))))) (b) has NOT seen this witness statement ;-)))))))
Where is this statement in the files? Somewhere between pages 11001 and 30000. Is it the statement that a man has said well the person I saw

carrying the child must have been Gerry McCann because of the way he held his child in his arms when alighting the plane on their homeward journey?
No,

he just said it was Gerry.

In other words a complete load of hollyhocks, like Goncalo 'lardy boy' Amaral himself. This from a lardy girl club member>

One thing about this "Irish" statement (you don't like "Irish" statements then), (if it exists) with a view to the two *INDEPENDANT* witness

statements given by two different *unconnected* people of a man seen loitering suspiciously *outside the McCann holiday apartment* in the days

(months?) immediately before Madeleine vanished, did it not occur to fat boy Gonc, (here we go again) to get an e-fit from this "Irish

witness?"
See above. The guy said it was Gerry. What do you need an e-fit for? Then compare it to the other TWO e-fits they already had from

other independent witnesses?
Why? The last e-fit I saw looks EXACTLY like Gerry. Or is this too much like good basic police work, which could

very well have led to Madeleine's abductors being apprehended and brought to justice?
Oh, there was MORE than one abductor. Hopefully they didn't hurt

themselves trying to get out of that closed window at the same time.

Or is this what Goncalo 'fat lardy boy' Amaral, was really afraid may happen? I smell a lawsuit coming..

He thinks it possible that she was then dug up and moved in the hire car which the McCann’s rented 23 days later, and where Scotland Yard dogs found DNA

remains which could have been from Maddie.

* So Amaral would have us believe that Gerry carried Madeleine down to the beach in full view of the public. Does Martin Smith not count as 'public'?

What have you got against the Irish?>

* Scouted around for an impossible to find spot to bury his beloved daughter. He certainly made it tough for people who actually searched, yes.
* Found this spot, completely out of the range of holiday makers and their propensity to dig large holes in the sand and away from little children who love to

make sandcastles. (after having popped into the local DIY store to purchase a spade.)
Yep, bought it in Lagos after drawing cash with one of his many

non-existant bank cards.

* Away from the ebb and the flow of very strong tides that would unearth most buried things within days. Right again!
* Having successfully carried this out, without being seen (except for the "Irish witness" of course) Returned 25 days later after having popped into the local

DIY store and purchased another spade.
He needed two? Why? Did ROB break the first one?
* In full view of the glare of the public and by now the entire world's media camped out on his doorstep, (what are friends for?:-))) dug his

beautiful daughter up, put her in the hire car through the *front* door only managing to touch the seal
(you didn't listen to what Martin Grime said, did

you?)
and the key fob (Gerry obviously does not go for the easy way of just simply placing her through the tail gate) then drives her away and to find yet

another impenetrable, impossible to find place to lay his his beloved daughter?
Is Mr Geraghty's villa impentrable and impossible to find?
* He did all of this without being seen by the world and his wife (and dog, sister, brother, uncle, aunt, etc etc etc) The world, his wife, family and the

pet were there? Got a link?

* If this is true, why is it that Eddie the famous sniffer dog, did *NOT* detect the scent of cadaverine on Gerry McCann's clothes, which after 25 days must

have been extremely strong, especially in the full Portuguese summer heat?
Remember the trip to Huelva? And the trip home?
* Why was there *NOT* found inexcusable amounts of Madeleine's *conclusive' DNA in the hire car? Don't read Crapese. But I do see DNA in

there. Ask the FSS.

* Oh and of course silly me, where was all the sand in the hire car? If Madeleine had been buried on the beach and then dug up again, where is mention of all

the sand that *MUST* have been present in the hire car *beyond reasonable doubt?*
You don't recall the car having been washed to get rid of the smell of

rotting meat and fish? I'll be darned, I was sure you had mentioned it before.

* Oops and was this sand tested for Madeleine's DNA? sand is porous, it would have soaked something up. Damn sure. Pity it was washed

away.

[8*]Where is the sand? There MUST have been sand, bring in the sand. Sand gets everywhere, you cannot get rid of it, it is like pine needles from Christmas

trees, you hoover them tricky little suckers up and you still find them throughout the year, despite repeat vaccuming.
You are becoming as obsessed with

sand as you are with Calpol. Interesting, VERY interesting.

He claims that the nine people who dined together with the McCann’s that night must have agreed to lie in the case.

Oh yes of course the McCann's have managed to swear 9 people (7 people actually, if you take away Kate and Gerry) to absolute secrecy, putting at risk their

liberty, their careers, their lives and not to mention putting at risk their children's lives. For what reason exactly? To stop the world finding out that they left their

children returning to check on them every 20/30 minutes, while they ate dinner 89 steps away? Oh right, that makes sense then!
If you say so.

It does not stop here the swearing to secrecy of these 7 people either because as the plot thickened so the help of other people outside this list 7 family people

away on a week's holiday would have been required.
Correct.

* Staff at MW lol! Have you watched the interview from just a few days ag where the staff fingered the whole lot as liars?
* British Ambassador Not surprised.
* Several Nannies The drunken stripper and who else?
* Tapas 7 Yes :-)))
* Jes Wilkins Sworn to secrecy? You sure?
* Other MW holiday guests Finished the 30000 pages yet?
* Several Eye witnesses Name one.
* The British Prime Minister Not surprised
* The British Foreign Secretary Ditto
* The British Home Secretary Ditto
* The British Press Ditto
* The Fisherman etc etc ?

He also tells the paper that the McCann’s are human, ‘If they admit that Maddie is dead then they cannot collect from a fund of more than a million pounds’.

So because the McCann's are human Amaral wants us all to believe they took their beloved little girl away on holiday, killed her in some way, swore the world and

his brother to secrecy and then never told anyone in anticipation of garnering a million pounds which they could collect from? Incidentally it is only around £500.000

now and that was because they were awarded damages for libel from the British press, if it were not for this then the fund would be depleted.
What a shame.

The police don't charge though. All is not yet lost.

Is this man Goncalo Amaral for real? Poor Madeleine, she did not stand a chance. Last two comments are true. I can't believe I agreed with you :-(

Well said Blossom..

I posted this Aug. 13 and still feel the same...

He was treated shamefully by the British and his superiors. He was demoted for having the temerity to criticise the U.K. police. From what we've learned about the two-faced LP force, he was fully justified in his comments.

His reputation was dragged through the mud, he was personally insulted, he was forced into early retirement after all his years of exemplary service, his marriage crumbling, his family afraid. The only piece of good news i've read this week is that his book is selling like hot cakes, going into print in Spain and other publishing offers in S. America. I hope he makes a fortune and lives it up with 3 hour lunches eating sardines and drinking wine.

He didn't create the situation he found himself in; the McCanns and their self-centred friends did that.
And i don't think they've done their worst to him yet. I bet they're waiting for enough of his books to sell, calculating how much money he's made, to sue him and take it all away from him to add to their fund. After all, they wouldn't get much from a retired policeman even if their lawsuit was successful. The first rule of suing is to sue someone with money. They'll wait til it's a million or so...jimo

After seeing the dog video yesterday, my support for Mr Amaral is reinforced. What Police Force in the world could not have suspected them in the face of that damning evidence ? Does anyone think they should have ignored it ?

Di says..

Not me Blossom and not anyone else I have sent the video to.

Hi Docmac,

You did a great job with the interview.

Do you remember a quote from Napoleon Bonaparte that you used a while ago?

"Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake"

So I'm waiting for more interviews with Kate and Gerry.

Goodnight all,

Doc and Claudia,

Thanks for those links to the 'Maddie' refrences from the McCann family and Co who have called her that. They really do make themselves look stupid, not just on the night of 3/5/07 but it seems every time they open their gobs.

BK pledged his life support.

CM pledged he would make it his life mission to track down every blogger who does not support them. Wonder if that is possible on a retainer?

Q – Aren't you curious to know what the book says?

Kate – What for? It must be nothing but a load of rubbish. It is so secondary… It certainly won't help to find our daughter. My consolation is that on the cover he calls her Maddie, the name that the media have invented. We never called her anything like that.

Hi all,

Just stopped by for a read-back.

Not much to comment on as you've all done this thread such justice!!

Re. the grains of sand - the majority of grains of sand are not porous. Porosity means having pores (voids) that can take up fluids and is measured as a ratio of voids:rock volume. Sand is mostly comprised of quartz grains which is one of the strongest minerals behind diamond. It doesn't dissolve to leave pore spaces!

Sandstone, on the other hand, IS porous to varying degress and so would a bucket of sand left in a boot, have its own porosity, depending on the packing of the sand grains.

So: " Oops and was this sand tested for Madeleine's DNA? sand is porous, it would have soaked something up "

..... Is she suggesting that the sand grains had already lithified in 3 weeks (blimey!) or that a very large bucket of sand (wheel well size) was found in the back of the hire car???? ( bit careless!)

lol! off to bed. Goodnight all.

I have it on good authority that Brian Kennedy is not the type to ignore the kind of libellous comments coming out of Notdoc.

"At least when Kennedy goes for Notdoc we will actually see where he really lives and it aint South Africa! Wherever he lives it will not be far enough away from Kennedy's legal team!"

Good Morning All I copy below GA's interview with El Mundo - apologies for the length of this post but its well worth the read.

The full interview of Gonçalo Amaral in El Mundo

Gonçalo Amaral: Gerry McCann hid Madeleine corpse in the Beach – El Mundo Interview

By Silvia Taulés

* The apartment window stayed always shut, in spite of what Kate McCann said

* The girl might have fallen from the sofa; there could have been an accident because of the sleeping solution

Gonçalo Amaral in a moment of the interview (Photo: Bernabé Cordón)

Madrid - He arrives late, with a certain’ star’ look. His book (Esquilo, 2008), which will be officially presented on the 9 of September, has sold 120.000 copies in two weeks, a record in Portugal.

This, once begun, was unstoppable. Gonçalo Amaral, the visible head of an investigation that had thousands of people in suspense, tells why he remains insistent that it was Madeleine's parents, Kate and Gerry, who were responsible for her disappearance.

Question – You defend the theory that the parents are guilty of what happened to Madeleine McCann.

Answer – No. That is not in the book.

Q - However that is the theory that one can understand from reading it.

A - From the synopsis you also obtain the same conclusions of the book.

Q - What are the reasons that make you believe that imply the McCanns in the disappearance of their daughter?

A - First, it is that they always defended the theory of the kidnapping. The mother said that the window of the room was open when she saw that the girl was not there. That is not correct, the window was closed and is impossible that the girl left that way. We worked in the apartment and the window was closed. The parents have always defended that the girl was alive and they were the first saying that Maddie could be dead.

Q - Other evidences?

A - The witnesses, there were several incongruities between their statements. Those that had dinner with the McCanns that one night, their friends, invented the system of monitoring of the children. Why? There are various details that take to you to think about the culpability of the parents. There are two different lists about the monitoring system.

Q - You speak of incongruities in the declarations about the monitoring system. The book also indicates that the nine people who had dinner together drank an average of eight wine bottles, four of red and four of white. Isn’t there the possibility that, between the disappearance and the alcohol, they were confused and that they did not remember the exact minutes in which they watched the children?

A - Right, but then there is the window where we found Kate’s finger prints, the mother of the girl. She said that she had never touched that window, and the cleaning lady assured that she had cleaned it on the previous day. And above all she said that the window was open when it was closed, it doesn’t add up.

Q - It could not be that the mother or the father closed the window later, when returning to the room to search for the girl?

A - There are three people who say that they walked in front of the apartment and saw the window closed. Didn’t they state that it was open? After all what is the truth? And there are other things. The mother says that she entered in the room and that the windows were open and the shutters were raised. No one else saw that. They simulated a kidnapping. They wanted us to say that someone went in to steal and when the girl was discovered he killed her.

Q - That could have happened?

A – It is very complicated.

Q - Why?

A - Let us return to the persons who passed in front of the apartment. Nobody saw anything strange. We investigated all the persons who commit theft in the area. There were no unknown fingerprints in the apartment, of course they could have used gloves, that is true, but that could not have been the case. Furthermore, the parents were the first to speak of death. And it is normal to think that their daughter could have died, but they have never admitted this in public. I do not believe that the parents killed her.

Q - So, what are we talking about?

A - About an accident. The child could have fallen from a sofa, could have had an accident with Calpol (a sleeping solution). We never had access to the girl’s medical history, so we don’t know whether she was healthy or not. We can only speculate. There are many very strange details.

Update - The rest of the Interview, thanks to Mercedes from Hasta que Se Sepa La Verdade (Until the Truth is Known)

Q - What do you think that could have happened that night?

A - Both the British and Portuguese police, and even the prosecutor, who has already changed his mind, thought the same. We talked about death by others, not murder. In the room blood and cadaver odour was found just below a window where a sofa was. The father was talking to a friend just outside that window for a while. The girl did not have a a heavy sleep, that's what the parents said. Perhaps she heard her father and climbed to the sofa bellow the window. But the parents, for the girl not to go out, moved it away from the wall. Madeleine could have fallen.

Q - The girl falls from the sofa, dies with the blow and the parents find her.

A - The mother. It is the mother who finds the girl dead.

Q - But I am trying to think out an idea. How can a mother who has just found her daughter dead on the floor decides to hide the corpse? And how do you hide the corpse of a girl of nearly four years old so that no one can't find it?

A – This is what we were investigating when I was dismissed from the case. I want to recall that there is an Irish man who claimed to have seen Gerry McCann with a girl in his arms, on his way towards the beach that same night. That testimony has been hidden. The dogs specialized in finding traces of blood and odour of cadaver, found both in the wall of the apartment and in the boot of the car that the McCann rented 23 days later.

Q - Did Gerry McCann buried his dead daughter on the beach and then unearthed and put her in the boot after 23 days later?

A - We do not know. The Irish [witness] that I have told you about saw Gerry on television with a child in his arms arriving in the UK and stated that it was the same image they had seen back in May in Portugal. That man spent two days without sleeping when he realized what he had found, but nobody has talked about them. And what one of the Irish has said is logical, a man with a child in his arms toward the beach.

Q - But this implies that the whole group, the nine people who eat dinner that night, had agreed to lie.

A - All of them. Because, if you do not know, the British law regarding negligence and child welfare is very strict. They left their children alone in the apartments. In the UK, if you leave a child alone for half an hour, you lose the custody. After Madeleine's death, if it had been made public that it was an accident, everyone could have lost custody.

Q - So you consider that one of the reasons for the parents and friends to have lied is because they feared to loose their children's custody.

A - Yes, yes. Nobody has opened legal proceedings for what happened, for the negligence, and we have asked to the British authorities why. Have they answered? Of course not.

Q – Let's go to the day of the disappearance. At 17h30 is the last time that neutral witnesses have seen Maddie alive. At 20h30, her parents sit down, composed, at the table for dinner with friends. In the middle, Gerry even plays tennis. Is there enough time for the girl to fall from the sofa, to kill herself [sic, se mate], for the parents to realize, to decide to conceal her, for the brothers to be sleeping, and for them to arrive undisturbed and sit at the table as if nothing had happened? Even more, for them to sit down at the table after having convinced the rest of the group that they mustn't report the death of the girl?

A - In those three hours there are inconsistencies between witnesses. Some said that the checkings lasted half an hour, others said 30 seconds...

Q – It is obvious that they contradict each other, but did they have time to do everything you say they did?

A - Yes, of course they had time. Some say that Gerry had a strange behaviour on the table.

Q – Did they?

A – They said that he spoke too much, gesticulated a lot, quite the opposite from the previous days. For me this is a very real hypothesis.

Q - You have a long career as an investigator, years in which you have faced criminals and innocents. What do you see when facing the McCanns?

A - They are two persons with much fear. I do not know if they fear to be discovered or fear the police of an unknown country.

Q – It was said that Kate was very cold. But I've seen her cry.

A - So did I. She is not cold. There was a moment, in a meeting with them, when we set out the sofa theory. Kate puts her head down, looking distant, and, after a few seconds, she looked up again as if nothing had happened. She looked like she was escaping from the role that she was interpreting.

Q - When you raised the hypothesis that the girl might have died after falling off the sofa, did Kate McCann answer?

A - She did not answer, she just dropped her head for a moment, as if she was about to faint. She had an emotional collapse that lasted just a moment.

Q - And Gerry McCann?

A – He is a very strong person, dominant. He's a surgeon, a man capable of making decisions very quickly. That was good for him to be able to decide over Madeleine. If you have to hide the body, you must decide quickly. And it could only be hidden on the beach, and you have to take her on foot. This is where the statements from the Irish witness is important, the one that no one has taken into account.

Q - What is your opinion?

A - To me, Gerry hid Madeleine's body on the beach. And after a few days he moved her with his car. We work following this lead. Trying to find out the date of the switch, some details, but we were on the way. The Irish was about to arrive in Portugal, but everything was delayed too much, he even received external pressures. In the end, he didn't testify for the Police.

Q – They [McCanns] have appeared in all the media to announce the disappearance of their daughter and if t ends up that they have done it, what are they, psychopaths?

A – No, they are human. If the McCann admit that their daughter is dead, they can no longer collect money from the Maddie fund, and that's a lot of money, over one million pounds. That's why they say that the girl was abducted.

Q - What if they do not want to lose hope? It all seems very morbid.

A - It is. If they admit that she is dead they will lose their style of life. They are human, not psychopaths.

Q - You said that the girl was frozen.

A - For there to be vestiges in the boot of the car rented 23 days later, they must have preserved the corpse in some way. I believe that when they put it in the boot, with the heat of those days in the Algarve, happened a similar situation with that of the shopping bags, which melt and then the water is transferred to the car.

Q – Couldn't the vestiges be transferred from the room to the parents clothes and after to the car?

A - But if you have blood on your clothes it is because you've seen it [sic]. And the blood that the dogs found was washed blood, it was remains not clear spots.

Q - Neither you nor Alípio Ribeiro (former director of the Judicial Police), nor Olegário Souza (former police spokesman), are still on their posts. You have even pre-retired.

A - There were too many pressures. The McCanns have many contacts and nobody was interested to know the truth.

Q - Is it the British Empire against Portugal?

A - Yes, it seems so.

Good morning all!

Hi Wizard -

Thanks for that long account of GA's answers to pertinent questions put to him. Three of the PJ's were shown the door it seems, but GA has the guts to write down his version of what happened that night to Madeleine.

It looks to me as if there has definitely been cover up by what to me seems to involve both the Portuguese and the British!

Regarding the witness Mr Smith for example. Why have the newspapers not put him and his family on the front pages or shown on television for example. They are soon quick enough to put all the other what have turned out to be bogus sightings - but the sighting that maybe would have implicated Gerry is met with a heavy silence! Unbelievable!

GA is right when he talks about the British authorities not taking any legal action against the McCanns and their tapas pals for negligence in leaving their young children - eight vulnerable toddlers and babies between the 8 of them, all under 4 years of age. Yes, Payne and his wife used a listening device, but that wouldn't have stopped a predator intent on grabbing one of their two little girls getting away before they returned from the restaurant.

These tapas parents are all as guilty as hell of negligence but they are being treated as whiter than white, so what sort of message does this send out to other parents hell bent on enjoying themselves rather than facing up to their responsibilities to their children.

The contradictions in all of their stories has been plain to see and then they wonder why they were made arguidos.

In Rachel Oldfield's statement she said that Gerry got back to the bar after Jane Tanner, but Jane Tanner in her statement said just the opposite and that Gerry was there when she arrived at the bar.

So who can believe a word of what they all say.

Regarding GA's comment about Madeleine perhaps being hidden on the beach - there is a very interesting photo of Gerry and Michael Wright (whoever he is) on the beach with Wright looking out to his right to the sea and Gerry, as usual, texting or just about to ring someone on his mobile. Just why were they there?

I hope GA's book comes out in English soon. Even though I have a good knowledge of Spanish, it would not have the same impact reading it in another language I shouldn't think.

It seems that BK was really busy on behalf of the McCanns -

Visiting Murat and offering him a job. Why?

Organising Metodo 3 (the fake child abduction agency).

He visited the important witness Mr Smith in Ireland who has since kept a discreet silence over what he and his family saw.

I shouldn't be at all surprised if he visited the poor priest of PdeL who suffered so badly after this tragedy struck his parish.

And did he also visit the woman lived above the McCann's apartment who heard poor Madeleine sobbing for her parents.

Talk about a good samaritan - but then he can afford it!

The McCanns certainly have a powerful fraternity surrounding them and, in my opinion, assisting in a cover up.

Surely it's not because Gt Britain wants to be on bad terms with their old friends Portugal.

I could understand if it was our old adverseries in catholic Ireland, France, Germany or Spain for instance, but Portugal has always been a great ally.

But with a clunk-whoosh the McCanns put an end to that friendship overnight!

Wizard said...

Hi Nancy - Michael Wright is I believe Gerry's brother-in-law - he is married to one of Gerry's sister.

nancy said...

Thanks Wizard -

I seem to remember that now!

Maybe he could see a boat in the distance. Gerry was too intent on using his mobile to notice!

Where is everyone today - very quiet on here!

nancy said...

Hi Zodiac -

Just what does Kate mean by GA's book being 'so secondary' - secondary to what? Secondary to her failure to answer all the questions put to her by him and his fellow PJ's and trying to keep as much information from them as possible in their hunt for Madeleine!

I've never gone along with the idea of people suspected of involvement in a horrendous crimes, especially where children are concerned, being allowed to remain silent.

She probably knew she would put her foot right in it if she did answer all they wanted to know, and end up tying herself in knots!

She and Gerry have already shown that with their very first interview since dumping CM!

And I wasn't surprised to see her breaking out laughing at one of the questions put to them - such a tragic bereaved parent I don't think! But then we've seen them laughing and grinning many times since Madeleine went missing - and GA was nice enough to comment that she wasn't cold!!

If she wasn't she would finally admit that her daughter is not going to be found, especially if a million pounds has been offered, and give her some sort of final ceremony so she can rest in peace.

Justice for Madeleine!

For those of are naive enough to say parents would never do such a thing, I just read that a Brazillian couple from São Paulo just confessed to having killed their 12 year old children. The children were from the man's previous marriage. They confessed that they chocked the children to death and then cut them into pieces. The pieces were distributed by several landfills so it would be more difficult to identify the bodies. When asked the reason for such a terrible crime both refused to comment.

Cláudia said...

I think I could also open an exception for these two and suggest justice Texas way.
