THE TAPAS AND HOW THEY JUST SAID NO WAY

Funny how this lot, with one notable exception, can stand on the steps of the High Court to receive a great big wad of dosh for Kate and Gerry McCann and their Defence Fighting Fund, but when it comes to doing something for little Madeleine, like going back for the reconstruction, no they could not manage to all turn out booted and suited for that. What a bunch of ************I hope every night before they sleep they think of that gorgeous little girl and every morning when they wake up the same thing happens again, live with it! Especially you Jane!

(processo/16 - VOLUME XVIa.pdf P84, 85 )

Dear Ricardo,

I refer to our recent telephone call conversations and can confirm that we will starting the interview process w/c 7th April 2008. I hope the e-mail sent on Thursday 13th March helps with your arrangements for your accommodation.

I am in receipt of your e-mail regarding further questions for John Lowe at the FSS and I will forward them for him to answer.

As discussed on Friday, we have made contact with the holiday group ( Paynes, Webster, O'Brien, Tanner, Oldfield, Manpilly ) regarding their availability for the proposed dates for a re-enactment in Portugal. We are still awaiting response from Jeremy Wilkins.

Before they will fully commit to attending they have the following questions that they reguest are answered:-

1 - Why do the PJ want them to take part in the re-enactment?
2 - What is the aim, what are the PJ trying to achieve with the re-enactment?
3 - Why so close to the anniversary?
4 - Why don't the PJ use actors?
5 - Will the footage of the re-enactment be released to the press/TV etc?
6 - What protection is there for the friends in relation to the media coverage/likely frenzy?

Would you please speak with the Director regarding these questions and consider how you would like us to respond. I would be grateful for a prompt response as this will hopefully ensure that the witnesses are available to attend.

Yours Sincerely

Mick Graham
Detective Inspector
Major Crime Unit

(processo/16 - VOLUME XVIa.pdf P86,87 )

Hello good morning Mick.

In answer to the questions raised by the holiday group regarding the re-enactment in Praia da Luz, Mr Paulo Rebelo wishes to clarify them as follows:

1 - Why do the PJ want them to take part in the re-enactment?

The PJ wants them to take partin the re-enactment because they were the ones who experienced the situation. Therefore they are in the best conditions to reproduce it.

2 - What is the aim, what are the PJ trying to achieve with the re-enactment?

The PJ is trying to find out, with accuracy, the circunstances of the events occurred, using for that purpose the exact place of events and the same persons who took part in it.

3 - Why so close to the anniversary?

Only now has the PJ contitions to carry out these procedings, and also because it is desirable that the weather conditions are as similar as possible to those at the time of the events.

4 - Why don't the PJ use actors?

The reason is because only the persons involved can clarify, with accuracy and at the same place, their position and movements.

5 - Will the footageof the re-enactment be released to the press/TV etc?

The PJ won't release any pictures/footage to the press.

6 - What protection is there for the friends in relation to the media coverage/like frenzy?

The place will be isolated and press interference will be avoided to its maximum.

The re-enactment will be carried out in one single day, at the exact time the events occurred.

However, the witnesses are requested to stay in Portugal for a couple of days more, in order to allow the production of all the material which shall be analysed, checked and signed by the persons involved.

Best regards.

Ricardo Paiva

Dear Ricardo,

An update for you, as discussed this morning;

We have spoken on a number of ocasions with the holiday group and they are still undecided whether they will agree to attend Portugal to take part in this process.

As a group, they are waiting to see if Gerry and Kate McCann will be invited to attend and participate in the re-enactment. It is my understanding that if Gerry and Kate do not participate in this process, then the decision will be that they will not attend.

In addition, the group have stated that they would require written reassurances about how the process was going to be conducted before agreeing to attend.

Therefore, until these issues are resolved we are unable to get a firm commitment from the holiday group to attend on either of the proposed dates.

Mick

Re: Re-enactment of Events of 3/5/2008

Dear Stuart, Many thanks for your email, and for forwarding the reply from Senhor Rebelo. Also, thanks to you and your colleagues for arranging the re-interviews.

It is somewhat reassuring to see in writing from the PJ that there are "no suspicions over [us] regarding the commission of any criminal acts." However, we heard something similar in the weeks before Kate and Gerry were made arguidos! Additionally, the thrust of the PJ's closed questions during the re-interviews seemed only to focus on Kate and Gerry's culpability, suspicion about our written timeline or who involved the media.

After a year of lies, accusations and intrusion, I am sure that the Mr Rebelo can appreciate our complete revulsion at what Kate and Gerry have been forced to endure. Furthermore, we cannot help but feel that the re-interviews and re-enactment are all too little and far too late.

However, the last thing we would ever want is a standoff between us and the PJ, something that would only delight and benefit the press. Kate and Gerry desperately need the cloud of suspicion over them to be emphatically lifted, and the PJ need to complete their investigation. We also appreciate the legal obstacles to removing Kate and Gerry's arguido status, but would request that prior to us agreeing to the re-enactment the PJ:

• publicly dispels the damaging and disturbing lies churned out by the Portuguese press regarding alleged changes to statements, re-interviews or alleged lack of co-operation.

• publicly states there are "no suspicions over [us] regarding the commission of any criminal acts." This in no way compromises judicial secrecy.

This in no way compromises judicial secrecy. But without some official intervention on their part, a return for the re-enactment seems little more than a perfect opportunity for the press to speculate and libel us all once again.

We are very keen to help an investigation aiming to establish what's happened to Madeleine, but have no desire to assist one that seeks only to damn our innocent friends. By actively restoring the focus on Madeleine and robustly dispelling the countless speculation, the PJ can expect our continued co- operation.

Yours sincerely,

Russell O'Brien & Jane Tanner

PS: We certainly do not request any specific reimbursement for travel or accommodation.

De: Paulo Fernando Gaspar Rebelo Enviada: terça-feira, 29 de Abril de 2008 12:39 Para: 'Prior Stuart' Assunto: Witnesses' Questions

Dear Stuart,

In Portugal, the criminal investigation is conducted by the Polícia Judiciária, under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor's Office. The competence to evaluate the interest and need for the performance of any criminal inquiry acts lies with these two entities, not with the witnesses.

In fact, according to Portuguese law (article 132, section 1, subsection a) of the Code of Criminal Procedure), whenever a witness summons is served, the witness is compelled to attend the authorities so that any action mentioned in the summons may take place.

Following the messages sent by the witnesses, I hereby inform you that both the PJ and the Public Prosecutor responsible for the investigation consider all the questions and doubts previously raised by the witnesses to have been properly answered.

Therefore, in this context and in a clear way, the witnesses shall inform, till tomorrow noon, if they will attend (or not attend) the re-enactment.

Thanks once again for your valuable cooperation.

Best regards Paulo Rebelo

Dear Stuart,

Thanks for your call last night.

I spoke with Rachel last night who is chasing Brian Spiro for a response to our legal queries. We are hoping to have that today.

Until then we cannot give a definitive answer. Hoever I believe Matt and Rachael cannot do that date, so it may be immaterial anyway!

I would just like like to reiterate what I said last night, in that it is so sad we have to consider so many peripheral issues rather than just doing everything we can do to help find Madeleine.

Thanks and regards.

Jane

Dear Stuart,

Further to our recent emails, Matthew and I have made the decision not to return to Portugal for the proposed re-enactment on 15th/16th May 2008.

We will respond to the formal notification when we receive it as well.

If you need anything further from us, please do not hesitate to give me a call.

Dear Stuart.

Apologies for the late reply.

We gather now that at least Jez Wilkins, Matt and Rach and Dave/Fi are not going/able to make the re-enactment. Given the prosecutor's requirement for all to be in attendance or none at all, and the absolute nature of the planned date, the decision appears to be academic ...

I hope you are well.

Best wishes,

Interesting letters flying between the PJ's and the tapas lot. Thanks for putting those up for all to see.

What happened to the 'leave no stone unturned' they've all been on about since Madeleine disappeared.

The PJ's were bending over backward to accommodate these disgusting people in an effort to get some clues as to what really happened on 3rd May 2007, but this pompous crew decide not to go; the obvious reason being they may say something that doesn't accord with their previous statements; as if the world's press hasn't seen all the discrepancies before.

What a lilly livered bunch they all are - just like the McCanns themselves who are only intent on looking after themselves. Madeleine seems to be the least of all their concerns, otherwise they would have all gone to Portugal for the reenactment without a second thought!

And they call themselves doctors!!

Hiya Nancy

I saw the link to 3 As and thought they should not miss the chance of having their little exchanges publicised just as much as possible. It is very clear from reading Tanner and O'Brien ensured they would not have to attend by waiting for the others to refuse first and then saying fait accompli. I am sure they gatherered in some smutty hotel again to plot this one out!

They will always be remembered as the people who did not think little Madeleine was worth their time or that she deserved justice and truth to be told about what happened to her. I hope she comes back to haunt them, it is what they deserve.

Bon Voyage Viv!

And good morning everyone.

As Tommy Steele's old song goes:

What a picture - what a picture - put it in the family album!!

They certainly all look very glum -strange being that they've just won themselves a hefty compensation payout - maybe it's because they won't get their hands on it as it's going to the FM Fund! They have to be shown to be good guys after all their contradictory stories over what happened on the night of 3rd May 2007!

Now,according to the McCann Files latest article, an FBI hired medium has come up with a 'sighting!

Paulo Sargento writes a very descriptive account and it's well worth a read!

As he points out, it's strange that this medium has concentrated on 'seeing' where Madeleine is, rather than all the other thousands of missing children!

nancy said...

I should point out that it was the Sunday Express who first put the story of the FBI hired medium around, so probably we should take it with a pinch of salt, as Paulo Sargento seeme to.

THESE WORDS SUM IT UP DON'T THEY

...Funny how this lot, with one notable exception, can stand on the steps of the High Court to receive a great big wad of dosh for Kate and Gerry McCann and their Defence Fighting Fund, but when it comes to doing something for little Madeleine, like going back for the reconstruction, no they could not manage to all turn out booted and suited for that...

Elsewhere, I have just seen on BBC 1 this morning Clarence Mitchell on the sofa captioned with 'media consultant' and talking about the BBC's approach to the Ross-Brand childish prank.

Classic quotes from him...

'The BBC is where it is cos of its failure to handle it..' (REMINDS ME HERE OF SOMETHING ELSE)

'The BBC needs to show the public...' (REMINDS ME HERE OF SOMEONE ELSE)

'...to try and avoid issues happening later...' (TRUE COLOURS OF THE DARK WORLD SHOWING)

'...The essence of crisis management...' (ALMOST CHOKED ON MY TOAST LAUGHING)

'... One of the problems is accepting... find it hard to accept this has actually happened..' (!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Basically, having spent time after University earning my corn in the world of sales promotion PR/marketing and now being a teacher of young children in my forties it is clear to me that PR is an area that usually seeks to manipulate.

A few honourable people are open and sincere and do not seek to control, they seek to reflect, evaluate and share their knowledge or interpretation of events etc.

However, many in this world lower themselves morally and ethically and present themselves as experts on this and that but really they are selling themselves and controlling to a point that seeks on many occasions to distort or blur in order to evade.

So on the one hand a person can recognise that in others and speak using words in a way that accuses or points out a mistake or wrongdoing but in a blink of an eye follow that policy almost religiously if it suits them.
Remember CM is a former head of the COI opposite Lambeth North underground.

In short, living in this media PR world makes it virtually impossible in my opinion to be consequent with your words and your actions. The lure of the pay cheque or the stroke of an ego is often drives the story rather than the facts in my humble opinion.

So on one hand one can stand on steps and collect the dosh like this group did but they can't return to assist in a reconstruction that solidifies timelines and facts. One gets the feeling if we asked them directly that question they would say...'No comment'

ie They maintain control rather than assist in seeking the truth or facts.
i.e They continue to blur in order to evade. (IMHO)

Morning ALL

Just re read the above thread and feel nothing but despair.

Not only for Madeleine but for our country.

Here stands a group of people who went away on holiday (a family holiday) and each and every one of them thought Neglecting their children for a night out in a bar (including the Grandmother who had no thought for her Grandchildren) was the right thing to do. In fact they each believe anyone who dares to criticise their abhorrent actions is wrong.

It is 2008 and for years I wrongly believed that leaving children home alone was not only against the law but bloody dangerous. Yet here they all stand arrogant looks on their faces “we have won money for the fund” and the DX has apologised???
Sorry but I have become far more involved in this than I ever should have been and the reason for that is their attitude and the attitude of many of the people who post on their behalf.

Can you imagine going back to work after all this publicity? Because the public don’t like people who miss treat children and most people would feel so ashamed at their part in this terrible crime they would never hold their head up again.

When it became clear that Karen Mathews and some of her family were involved in taking Shannon (who was found alive and relatively well) the police had to go and board the house up in case her neighbours and others decided to trash her house. She has been threatened and no doubt is being watched in jail in case someone attacks her.

But isn’t Karen Innocent until proven Guilty? I don’t condone anyone taking the law into their own hands but when a child is involved emotions run high.

So the tapas 7 and Gerry and Kate are desperately trying to prove they are the victims in all this. Well whilst they are warm and fed at home with their family around them Madeleine is still missing. Kate refused to answer questions Gerry said he would but could not shut up. They cant see the point in a reconstruction (well sorry that is where you are proved liars if Madeleine was really missing nothing would stop any normal person with nothing to hide doing anything they could just in case).

The pictures at the top of the page of Gerry and Kate a few days after they say she was snatched by an evil paedophile ring on what would have been her 4th Birthday speak volumes. I cant imagine ever smiling again if my child were missing yet they are truly radiant not a brave thanks for coming smile but pure joy (in fact if you showed the pictures to people who had not seen them they would probably wrongly assume Madeleine had been found in the care of a lonely lady who had treated her like a princess). The Pros are always telling us that if Madeleine was to read what we have written about her parents it would make her angry. I think the picture of them laughing it up would break her heart.

This is all about defending the indefensible. There was cadaver odour and blood, they refuse to take a polygraph test and more to the point Kate the loving Mother could not be bothered to answer a single question for her Daughter. Yet I am sick and twisted for posting, Jealous of the McCann’s, and will burn in hell. All for believing that a 3 year old child and even younger twins should never have been left alone so her parents could party.

As Pat Brown said in the last thread SHUT UP if they had wanted to get away with this they should have sought better advice as their “Campaign” has only gone to show they want to cover their own backs. They have tried to turn themselves into the victims even Gerry says “We have no reason to believe she has been harmed” and in the next breath explains why he thinks she is in the hands of a Paedophile Ring!!!

I don’t know if they read here or if any of the others that were with them that night does but for gods sake start talking and telling the truth. If Madeleine was taken you may just save her life and if there was an accident or something worse save your soul and get it off your chest.

A 3 year old child is more important than any adult’s reputation, lifestyle and status. I can’t believe she was abducted because if she had of been people would have gone to hell and back doing anything they could to bring her home.

I can only imagine how I would feel in the same situation (although I can say 100% I would never leave my children) but the worry and guilt of a missing child and the pain I would feel for her parents would make me do anything asked of me by anyone if there was a chance it could help and if I had doubts about my closest friends I would feel no sense of loyalty to defend them in fact if I knew it was an accident I would encourage them to come clean so they could move on in life and work through their grief. And if they would not do it themselves would do it for them.

God will be their final judge (mine too and that is not something I take lightly) and so far in my life he has not guided me wrong.

HOPE - in a nutshell you speak words which I truly feel those around this couple know and feel.

However, something very big or extremely misplaced must be stopping them from acting in an appropriate way.

Time will tell as you say for the truth has a funny way of rising to the surface.

I think this story reflects the way 'integrity' has almost evaporated from our society. Indeed if you have values and act according to those you are judged as almost weird now. I am genuinely worried by how materialistic and status orientated the young especially teenagers are. The idea of protesting and being assertive about your thoughts and rights has almost disappeared in this age group hasn't it. Instead people are applauded if they can evade and get away with things or gain something out of nothing. People are rewarded if they can find words that convince you - a soundbite to sooth. But words are merely that words and are often very cheap and meaningless drivel.

The credit crunch is one example where integrity and substance are put to one side and when it does eventually the house of cards collapses.

I give this house of cards 3 yrs to collapse at the most.

Knowing you would rather state 'no comment' than tell your honest feelings surrounding the disappearance of your own flesh and blood must eventually catch up with you. No human can withstand that sort of duality going on inside one's brain.

Prefering to evade questions when your own child conceived through a painful IVF process has vanished from the face of this earth. It beggars belief doesn't it.

Contrast this couple with Rhys Jones' parents and their actions and words.

Hi BT

This morning I actually stopped for a long time before posting and looked very hard at their faces standing outside a court of law and honestly cant belive none of them have any feelings.

How can they hold their heads up and look so smug thanks to their stupidity and arrogance a 3 year old child is missing. Not because the PJ got it wrong but because each one of them said it was ok to go to a bar and Neglect their children.

None of them have ever asked for Madeleines forgivness none have shown any remorse for being so stupid yet each and every one of them want the world to belive she is in the hands of a peadophile gang.

That sickens me to the core if this is what they believe happend to this darling little girl how dare they look smug because they have some cash from a newspaper who in my eyes could not have made them look any worse than they already had by their own actions.

Dont any of them think it is odd that Kate refused to answer any questions? Or have they all got something to hide and know if they rock the boat they will all go down with Gerry and Kate?

If some of the rumours are true then social services should be involved and the children should be protected not left with parents who still dont think the life of a 3 year old is important compared to their own.

I dont think this will remain a mystery forever and the thought they all have to worry every day that one of them may crack may be a worse punishment than any prison sentence and will follow them for the rest of their lives.

Exclusive
McCanns slam Maddie websiteBy SEBASTIAN LANDER

Published: 07 Feb 2008
THE McCanns' spokesman has slammed an unofficial Maddie website which asks for 'donations' to support its jobless author.
www.mccannfiles.com, run by Nigel Moore, 48, was set up in a bid to "find the truth" about Madeleine's disappearance.

'Nige' - who works full-time creating the site - says that due to its popularity, "it now requires virtual full-time attention, 7 days a week."

He adds, "I have spent over 500 hours putting this site together (yes, scary, isn't it?) and I hope you appreciate my efforts in continuing to ask questions, and highlight inconsistencies, that other media outlets seem disappointingly reluctant to explore."

Missing ... Madeleine
The homepage - which features profiles of those involved in the case and key events - also carries a prominent 'donate' button.

The website owner explains: "To enable me to continue to maintain and develop the site, I need support. Yours! Unfortunately, I do not have the luxury of rich benefactors behind me!"

The McCanns' spokesman Clarence Mitchell hit out, saying that unofficial sites such as these distract from the search for Madeleine.

He said: "This man did not seek our permission. We have not cooperated in any shape or form.

"Most of this is ill-informed comment at best. While some of it might be accurate, this sort of site runs the risk of repeating mistakes."

He added: "He's now seeking money to maintain the site. We'd rather people's efforts and money went to helping to find Madeleine."

Nigel told The Sun that he had not contacted the McCanns but was "trying to get something from them to put on the site."

He admitted: "They probably don't want to touch it with a barge pole.

"I've heard from someone there. I gather they're not particularly happy with it. I've had some feedback through an email but I'd rather not say from who."

Nigel added: "I've carefully sourced everything. I've not made anything up on there."

Asked if the McCanns' disapproval deterred him from continuing with the website, he added: "I still feel there are questions there that have not been answered that require answers. Not just around the case but the fund and things like that.

"My personal view is that the McCanns have some questions to answer."

Nigel added that the site - which has banner ads - was "costing him an arm and a leg."

"I'm not out to make a profit from it. There is no money coming from the actual site. The donate button is there for people to help me to keep it going. It's become quite popular," he added.

Nigel admitted that no one had yet made a donation.

And asked why any money should not go to the Madeleine fund, as suggested by Clarence Mitchell, he said: "I don't think a lot of people have confidence in where the money's actually going in the Madeleine fund."

Nigel added that his main concern was that Madeleine would be found.

He said: "That's the bottom line for everything. It's not a vendetta against the McCann family. I appreciate it's an incredibly difficult time for them."

Yes when I saw him on the sofa on BBC1 this morning he almost spat out the word 'blog'. However, the man who was interviewed on Radio 5 earlier this year and who has written a history of PR book (can't remember his name) said the place to get the truth these days is the internet as the system in the mainstream media is too skilled in manipulating and controling stories.

Over to you Clarence to answer that

Furthermore, I have one question for you...?

How do you KNOW 100 % that Madeleine was abducted?

you don't do you and nor do we. But we prefer to say let's keep all possibilities open and why would a mother say 'no comment' etc. A common sense approach.

Yet, you are paid to represent them and to belittle the common sense approach that keeps angles open and Madeleine's voice truly represented.

What is it that threatens you and the people you know who want this case swept under the carpet.

What is it Clarence?

What can you tell us and show us that is based on facts that shows us beyond any doubt that Madeleine was taken from the apartment that night ? And if we flip that 180 degrees ..
What can you tell us and show us that is based on facts that shows us beyond any doubt that Madeleine was not taken from the apartment that night ?

You see we are ordinary people with questions and you seem threatened by that, WHY? We are not being paid anything to ask them. Those questions come from our souls which are clean. Whereas you are being well paid to represent one viewpoint and your name & face is out there for further employment opportunities after this case shuts down etc.

Thus you are making money from pushing one side that bases its view on certainty and yet you produce nothing that allows people like me with genuine concerns to say , oh yes I see that now.

One last time then ...

What can you tell us and show us that is based on facts that shows us beyond any doubt that Madeleine was taken from the apartment that night ?

BT - excellent post.

That is something neither the McCanns, their tapas pals, or any of the pros have been able to give any opinion on - how an abductor managed to get into the apartment and leave with Madeleine in the very limited time (according to their timetables that night) without being spotted by one of the parents doing their half hourly rounds, or anyone else going by, other than Jane Tanner, that is.

They (and Kate seems to think it was 'they) certainly wouldn't have been able to get through any open window without leaving DNA, and no finger prints, other than Kate McCann's, were found on them. The same goes with the door, open, locked, or whatever their final statement about that was.

We all know the reactions of the dogs both after the 'abduction' and most recently, and none of them have been able to come up with a satisfactory explanation of their positive reactions.

The pros were asked time and time again on the DX forum just how they thought the abduction was carried out and they all skirted around the issue and refused to give any explanation whatsoever.

Oddly, none of the interviewers have asked that question of the McCanns, or if they have I haven't seen it.

The truth is there was no abduction!

You are right - a bit of luck they mentioned the McCann Files!

Maybe they did it on purpose - they can hardly get sued for it.

hope4truth said...

Hi Nancy

I am sure the papers want to get to the truth and they are all in it to make money. They know when this breaks it will sell many newspapers and I am sure they have the copy ready to go any time...

I would donate to Nige but not if it ends up in the McCann's pockets he has done such a brilliant job and it is not his opinion either so why have a go at him... xxx

nancy said...

Good morning everyone -

LGC -

It's nice to see you again and I hope all is well with you!

My guess is that Wilkins didn't go because of pressure put on him by that elusive body or bodies who seem to have a strangulation hold on anyone who could maybe willingly or unwittingly reveal something which would get to the truth of what happened to Madeleine.

What happened to freedom of speech I wonder?

To my mind, what makes it more obvious that there is pressure from some direction is because not one person either strongly or loosely connected with the McCanns and tapas pals has uttered one word that would negate what they have said, and that to me smacks of a cover up.

The McCanns and their pals seem to be enclosed in an unbreakable bubble - let's hope that someone one day has the guts to pop it and reveal the whole truth so Madeleine gets the justice she deserves.

bath theory said...

It is clear a cover up of something is happening but the question is what is being covered up and why?

Big money goes a long way. Remember how I mentioned that top footballers spend a fortune keeping stories out of the papers. The reason the Beckham story with Loos broke was because he decided to change agencies and she worked for the one he was leaving and thus they got there own back by 'allowing' the story to break. The main job of a sports lawyer is to negotiate contracts etc but that is easy for those guys. Where they really earn their money is in keeping stories out of papers ie paying the ones involved in whatever and in paying their 'contacts'

As we have said it is not a large jump to make to see that this sort of thing goes on with other stories where large amounts of money are available.

The accounts of the fund are not available despite little children giving their pocket money etc Thus that says it all anyway.

bath theory said...

The bubble will burst as the life of an innocent 3 yr old first born girl is involved.

It is a question of how long someone's soul and heart can resist what their inside voice is telling them.

Me thinks 3 yrs at the most.

Well, that's something I wasn't aware of; footballers, and no doubt other rich celebrities, paying to keep their sordid stories out of the media. It seems if you have money you can move mountains!

If an event occurs that has serious impact on us and inside you know it was you that was partially or totally responsible but you evade and deny to yourself the responsibility of that action then it gets to you sometime.

Let us hope with regards to this case the 'no comment' mentality gets replaced as soon as it is possible for that strength and security to surface.

Good Morning All,

Yesterdays article on Joana Morais blog (31/10/08) claims that in Cipriano/McCann case Aragao is being paid to frame Goncalo Amara which of course Aragao deniesl.

It makes an interesting argument on how money can buy and influence the results achieved. I’m sure we all knew this before but to see it as work in progress is still an eye opener.

It seems to me our prisons would no longer be overcrowded if everyone who was charged with a crime had backers money to aid their defence. Of course this is not going to happen which just highlights the injustice of justice.

Found the below on the BBC website... By Clarence Mitchell

"the first rule if you like - is to actually understand and accept that you do have a bona fide crisis on your hands."

I know the below is not about Madeleine but is this man really needed to speak for a couple who in basic terms could not be bothered to be parents night after night on their family holiday?

They had a crisis allright but it had nothing to do with their reputations it was about the life of a 3 year old child.

So their campaign has been all about saving their reputation and nothing to do with their daughter. They could have saved their reputation on day one by admitting they were wrong searching for their child and helping the PJ..

But they did not do any of these things and went on to have a ball on other peoples money.

Their reputation is shot and it is in a big way thanks to people like CM for tryining to turn them into the victims and allowing Gerry to blog.

Kate showed she did not care by refusing to answer any questions. If this is what the UK is all about then god help every child because if these two are held up as decent parents by anyone then social services should give up now because frankly Madeleine McCann was not important enough for anyone in authority to stand up for..

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/7701962.stm

It's been a torrid week for the BBC as it has struggled to contain the fallout over the Russell Brand-Jonathan Ross prank calls. But what should organisations do in such situations? Crisis management consultant Clarence Mitchell explains.

Reputation is as precious and fragile for the grandest corporation with global reach as it is for the individual. Often won with great difficulty and effort over many years, it can be lost utterly in the moment.

Whatever the reality of the situation, a sudden dip in public confidence can quickly erode an organisation's status. That dented image itself becomes the reality.

The basic principles of effective crisis management are deceptively simple. The very essence of success - the first rule if you like - is to actually understand and accept that you do have a bona fide crisis on your hands. This might seem stunningly obvious, but may not be so for those at the centre of such storms.

Timeline: Russell Brand prank calls
This is partly because of the sheer bureaucratic scale of large multi-national organisations. It can take time for simple decisions to be processed, approved by line management and brought to the attention of directors.

It is also underpinned by an often institutionalised reluctance to see any approaching icebergs. These combined can lead to a collective blindness to the subtlety of the incoming, submerged problem.

Secondly, once the crisis is seen for what it really is, one that is gaining traction in the modern media environment, with a lethal momentum to roll beyond control without swift, decisive and appropriate remedial action, do just that. Take swift, decisive and appropriate remedial action. Within minutes.

And then, just as importantly, be seen and heard to do so - very clearly and very loudly. It will not only buy you time, it might even win plaudits. How many organisations are condemned for showing leadership and purpose during the firestorm?

Without such a basic framework of visible, immediate action, within which a more considered remedial strategy, investigation or sanctions regime can be implemented, the common errors that merely compound a crisis stand out for what they are.

Grudging apologies

Across today's media landscape the signs that a bad situation is being made far worse are merely magnified by the 24/7 on-demand, online culture. It spans broadcast, print and the blogosphere, all of which - like nature - abhor a vacuum, particularly one without information. Those organisations that do not fill that vacuum will suffer.

Clarence Mitchell, centre, has managed many a media scrum
Common symptoms for bodies mismanaging a crisis are apologies, where obvious and appropriate, that are still seen to be slow in coming, grudgingly given or issued in stages, despite the rising clamour from stakeholders growing ever louder.

Equally damaging is the appearance that the organisation is being buffeted by events. Worse still, the public perception that its actions are merely reactive, responding to events rather than controlling them.

Senior executives shouldn't come across as adrift, blinking uncertainly as they are swept from wave to wave of negative headlines swelling into the perfect storm, so easily avoided just a few days earlier.

Issues and crisis management is today increasingly important. Given the modern media environment, it is not a luxurious add-on for an organisation. It is a vital business component.

Imagine a world where global debate surrounding your company's products and their failings can be dissected across continents in minutes, where campaigns against you can be started in seconds and have thousands of people signed up within hours.

The media now operates 24 hours a day across all time zones and YouTube happily ensures your communications disaster can be rerun and rerun at leisure.

Reputational crises don't die away any more, they just get posted online for posterity. That world is here and now and effective crisis management has never been more relevant or valid.

Clarence Mitchell is an issues and crisis management consultant with Freud Communications.

That is very intresting a couple of years ago myself and many other people complained to Amazon about the sale of a book for Peadophiles that told them that they were normal people and it was ok to abuse (or love) children as they put it.

The reply came back that they do not ban books just because someone does not like the subject.

Looks like Peadophiles are ok by them and Neglecting parents are to be protected as well.

Cant remeber the name of the book now it was something like Child love and one of the bios said "at last a book I can show my parents I am normal it is no more wrong to be a peadophile than to be gay"...

So Amazon books will sell books about paedophilia, which is against the law, but not a book about a little girl whose been missing for 17 months now.

Could it be because it may possibly contain something that would hit a raw nerve with certain people, and come up with something near the truth.

Absolutely disgraceful, and just confirms what most of us think, and that is there is a monumental cover up going on.

I, for one, will not buy from Amazon again.

Just had a google below is one decent publisher who acted over the book "Understanding loved Boys"

So Amazon says "we've always said that we dont feel we should censor reading habits" yet wont print a book about a neglected child!!!

See below for article...

A Washington State sailing book publisher has removed his list from online bookseller Amazon.com in protest over the company's refusal to stop selling a book which he claims promotes paedophilia.

Larry Reynolds of Evergreen Pacific Publishing also took out two adverts in the Seattle Post-Intelligencier and Seattle Times voicing his concerns after Amazon refused to stop selling 'Understanding Loved Boys and Boylovers' by David L. Riegel despite a year of correspondence.

Reynold's said that he far from supports censorship but that when dealing with a book that 'justifies the exploitation of children' a 'line needs to be drawn.'

A spokesperson for Amazon said 'we've always said that we don't feel we should censor reading habits. It's up to the customer to decide what they want to read'.

hope4truth said...

Sorry for long post but just found the below re Amazon looks like they were threatend by court this time as well but it did not seem to bother them???

So does this mean they support Peadophilia and child Neglect???

A controversy is brewing on the internet, as Amazon.com continues to sell "Understanding Loved Boys and Boylovers," while anti-pedophilia groups protest. As part of Amazon's reader review process, their web site also publishes commentary about the book. This includes the opinions of pedophiles who want to increase the book's readership, as well as outraged readers, and a critical review by Amazon staff.

The United States Justice Foundation, a California legal advocacy group, has accused Amazon of "an unfair and unethical business practice," and threatened "protracted litigation." They have already filed a criminal complaint in Seattle, where Amazon is based. They object even more strenuously to publicizing the pedophile reader reviews than to the selling of the book.

Amazon refuses to remove the book from its offerings, claiming First Amendment protection. They have reportedly removed email addresses from the pedophile reviews, in response to the complaint that they were providing a public channel for pedophile solicitation.

Author David L. Riegel argues in his book that "Men who sexually pursue young boys are not monsters, but sincere, concerned, loving human beings who simply have a sexual orientation that is neither understood nor accepted by most others." The book apparently has no sexually provocative content, but centers on promoting the idea that consensual, "responsible intergenerational" homosexual relationships are wholesome and should be legally permitted.

Currently, each state has "age of consent" laws that set an age below which a child may not legally consent to sexual activity. That makes consensual sexual activity between children and adults legally impossible. Riegel and other proponents of pedophilia want to remove this restriction.

I hope that American culture has not yet devolved to the point where we need to debate any possible merit in Riegel's arguments. Clearly pedophiles are vile predators, and our age of consent laws are one necessary line of defense against them.

What is controversial is the decision of Amazon and any other book retailers to sell books such as Riegel's, and the legal approach being taken to force them to stop offering the books for sale. Does the First Amendment protect Riegel and Amazon? What are proper approaches to combating the evil effects of books such as this? Regardless of what they are legally permitted to do, what is the right way for Amazon to handle such material?

If it is true that Riegel's book attempts to change public opinion while avoiding advocating illegal activity, I believe the First Amendment does protect his right to publish. If, on the other hand, he incites pedophiles to approach children for sex, he is beyond the protection of the Constitution. Someone with a strong stomach would have to study his book to make that determination. If the First Amendment protects Riegel's right to publish his book, it also protects Amazon's right to sell it.

Not everything that the law allows to be done should be done. Amazon protests that it would be "censorship" not to offer such a book for sale. Censorship is a legal restriction on publication. A private decision to avoid doing business with a publisher is not censorship. In this case, it would be quite proper for Amazon to decide not to be associated with Riegel's arguments.

On the other hand, I think the United States Justice Foundation is taking the wrong approach to the problem. Attacking Amazon's bookselling practices in court gives the pedophiles an opportunity to bring First Amendment advocates into their corner.

Amazon lives in a very competitive on-line world. There are hundreds of companies selling books on the internet: BarnesAndNoble.com and FatBrain.com, for example. How long could Amazon stand up to a determined publicity campaign against their pedophilia-neutral policy? They could be damaged in a matter of days by such a campaign, and ultimately put out of business if they were to persist in selling pedophilia-promoting books.

Let's stop relying on the courts in cases like this, and apply a little "dollar diplomacy" to the problem

ratonthebeam said...

There are three pages of hits on Amazon UK for Mein Kampf. They don't seem to have any trouble selling that despite "legal reasons".

(I wonder who gets the royalties???)

Changing the subject slightly, what a lovely photo of Madeleine with her little sister at the top of Viv's thread?

I should think the McCanns and their pals will have some very difficult explaining to do when their children are old enough to understand the tragic results of their parents' neglect of them all and the consequences on that fateful night. Having to tell them that they went out and left them alone in a strange apartment on several evenings in order to enjoy themselves will surely be a bitter pill for their children to swallow.

As Mandarinn pointed out, some pointed comments by GA on Joana's blog.

Talking of Political interference he said:

"Why did a spokesman of the British government (CM) leave his position to become the spokesman of a couple; why did an ambassador in Lisbon not remain in Lisbon but speak to the National Director of the Police. And why does he have to speak 24 hours later with the Police who are working on the case? Why did we have to come out later with a press release saying that there has been an abduction when we didn't even know if there was an abduction? All this is very complicated"

And of the British government intervention he said:

"As police we must always work in an objective manner and base ourselves upon the facts and try to understand the facts and what could have happened.

We don't worry what is politically correct - in this case there have been many political pressures; there has been an implication on the part of the British Government. I don'tknow if this is the same in other cases in England; a Prime Minister is concerned about some parents who have lost a daughter and I don't know if he does this for all children and all parents who lose children. It is a domestic problem in England. I don'tknow why they get so involved"

You and us both Goncalo!!

Viv - wonderful that you are having a lovely time :-) Luke has been diving too! - I've done it only once in cold, British waters and I'd love to do it again somewhere warmer next time! It was weird at first, getting used to breathing underwater, but it was like being in a whole new world once I got used to it! Did Luke feel like that too? Have a fab time. x

Docmac, I hope you didn't bathe in eau de mop ;-)
I'll mail you soon as xxxx has now made up his mind to go to med school and any tips on getting in would be good.

Hello everyone else. It's good to be back and I hope I won't have another emotional down-turn again online!!

So Troll has silenced itself?? Can't be because it wants to post even nastier stuff because that's just not possible. Funny that they were playing the "freedom of speech card too - how ironic?! I read GA's comments, from the interview, on Joanna Morais' site. It looks as though many of us Brits are tarnished with the same brush as the McScams in that the Portuguese can only draw the conclusion that it is perfectly normal for us to go out and leave our little ones alone at home. :-(

Doc, yes, feeling better at the moment (thanks) but I still have a long haul ahead. I'm worse when my children aren't around but I've a full house again now that xxxx is back from Wales :-))) I'm thinking of getting him to apply to UEA. It's a new med school but I've heard that that they favour students who reside on campus rather than at home so that they generate the extra accommodation (sp?) income but surely that is descrimination?
Obviously his best bet is to do as well as he can at his A-levels. He selected all of the sciences and maths (mechanics) so that he could have the choice between med school and marine biology but I suspect "Scrubs" has swayed it for him - oh dear ;-) He's been given the advice that he needs to get involved with medical stuff now, such as volunteering, but I've no idea how he should go about it. I'll mail you!! Re the shower thing - whenever I've sat in the docs' waiting area and picked up a glossy mag for women, there is always an article that says how good that can be for a marriage ;-)

See Aragao Correia now claims he had a 'vision' about the dam. Hello sir, you previously claimed you were informed by the 'mafia'. You have also already admitted to receiving payments from Metodo3. Who's your REAL paymaster and what is your and their agenda? Hmmm? I see that the McApologists are starting to mumble 'unfair trial' because you are a little unhinged. Umm, whose trial is it anyway and why are they so interested in the outcome. Hmmmmm?

It's past 1am. Time for a nap. Goodnight all.

Cláudia said...

Aragão is a joke. Thank God he is so stupid. He is just like his client Everytime he speaks, the hole gets deepe. Let's not forget that leonor's first lawyer told her to be silent during her trial. We all know why now.

Boa noite, Doc.
Dorme bem.

Goodnight, all.

dylan said...

Good morning all,

Thank you to Joana Morais for the following extract(from two articles she has posted, one from 24h and this one from CdM):

Five Polícia Judiciária inspectors are on trial over torture on Leonor Cipriano, but the plaintiff’s lawyer, who got involved in this case under orders of the McCanns’ detectives, has already tried a deal. “He proposed to our lawyer that we let Gonçalo Amaral ‘fall’ and in exchange he would redraw the torture accusations against the other four inspectors”, denounces Carlos Anjos, the president of the PJ’s union. And Aragão Correia also confirms: “If the other four want to confess that it was him who gave the order to assault…”

So it appears that someone acting on the instructions of the McCanns has tried to deliberately target Amaral for the "assault" on Cipriano. Now why would the McCanns do that??? How bent can you get? After all of their lies, I find this unsurprising but this really does take the biscuit and it's a disgrace. If they were innocent, why on earth would they be trying to do this? I am afraid it just goes a little further towards making the pair of them look like crooks and it's got to stop. Poor Amaral. What did he do to deserve this? Oh, I know, he found evidence that incriminated the McCanns in the disappearance of thier daughter, hmmmmm....

Have a good day all!

xx

Zodiac said...

Hi all,

Dylan,

Hmmmm indeed! Why is this news not making it's way to the UK. Shame on the UK Press/Media. A 3 year old child disappeared without a trace of an abduction yet there are indicators to involve those closer to her. I trust my instincts from 4/5/07 onwards.

dylan said...

Hi Zodiac,

I not only trust my instincts but happen to believe the parents were involved as there is no evidence for an abduction at all, yet there is reliable evidence that Madeleine sadly died in that appartment, from two different dogs with an incerdibly accurate track record. Also the FSS did a u-turn on the DNA findings (very dodgy) and the Tapas crew have changed their stories and now this deliberate attempt to sabotage the case against Amaral and incriminate him in something he clearly didn't do. It makes me really bloody cross that the McCanns are not only happy to ruin yet another innocent person's life but also provide a woman, who sh*gged her brother and allowed her daughter to be killed and dismembered, with ammuntion against the PJ and an "ah poor me" card to play. Sick.

I have no idea why our country's government and media are complicit with such a sickeningly dishonest set of affairs and it scares me why these two are being let off of the hook with such unprecedented child neglect and perhaps manslaughter too. (I know what I think regarding the latter but I wouldn't want Poops patrol threatening a knock at my door!). Well our country can condone leaving children alone if it wants but I shan't jump on that particular bandwagon, thank you!

Sorry Zodiac, rant wasn't directed at you, of course :-) I'm just fuming since I read about what is being attempted against Amaral.

xx

Hi everyone -

Just why is Goncalo Amaral's book not being published in English? I know no publisher in the UK will touch it (unprecedented I would think), but surely it could be published in any other English speaking country, i.e. America, South Africa, to name just a couple; after all English is the most widely used language in the world. He must be losing millions, unless he has plans up his sleeve we don't yet know about.

Di said...

Hi all

Doc thanks for your opinion last night on S O, much appreciated.

I tried to reply twice but posts were wooooshed cluuucked. After my, thought to be lost posts on Claudia's site, I was beginning to think I was jinxed, and gave up.

Hi Dyl

Great post.

Hi Nancy

I think most of us would like to know why GA's book is not going to be published here in UK or in English. We know no publisher is prepared to take him on, the question is WHY? What are they all afraid of?

Personally, I don't think G A is bothered about the money. I think he, like the rest of us, wants Justice for Madeleine!!

Di said...

Nancy

Sorry, I meant to say JUST wants justice for Madeleine.

nancy said...

Di -

I'm sure you are absolutely right, but the money would be handy when the McCanns, the tapas pals, or CM, carry out their threats to sue him!! I think we'll have a long wait for that to happen.

The silence is deafening right now. It's as if they are hoping that the issue of Madeleine's disappearance will just fade away.

They have all kept up the pretence of leaving no stone unturned, but just what are they really doing about it, apart from getting all the money they can from anyone daft enough to contribute towards another bunch of useless detectives like they've used before.

dylan said...

Hello Di & Nancy & thanks Di -
I was just a wee tad annoyed and it helps to have a bit of a vent occasionally!

Actually, I've been trying to put a wardrobe up and after 3 hours of frustration, I think I took it all out on that instead :-)))
It's up now and the next big job is to sort all of littlun's mess out and put her clothes away in it! She has a big chest of draws (or is it drawers?!) but her excuse for dumping all of her clothes and toys on the floor is that she didn't have enough room for them all. Now she has no excuse and I'm hoping that this is the last time I do a major clear out for her!

As for the chances of Amaral being sued, I'd place them at virtually nil because I don't think a certain couple would want to go to court over it. If they did, in order to prove that they have been libled and slandered (from the interviews), they would then have to prove the PJ's findings wrong, which, of course, they can't! What a pity they won't sue. However, they are getting their own back on him by trying to discredit him instead and the hope is (IMO) that they will "kill two birds with one stone" and sway world-wide opinion towards thinking that if GA is a bad cop then the police work he carried out on the Madeleine case will be thrown into doubt too. I suppose that they will try to claim that they were set-up again!

xx

nancy said...

Hi Dylan,

Well done with the wardrobe! I'm useless when it comes to anything DIY!!

I don't think the McCanns will ever carry out their promise to sue Amaral themselves for fear of something coming to light they wouldn't want They prefer to use stealth tactics to get at him, as they are doing with their interference in the Cipriano case.

I have no doubt that one of these days the whole conspiracy will be blown sky high!! Maybe the likes of the Smiths, or even one of the tapas pals, will come out from their hiding place and talk to the PJ's and Leicestershire Police when their consciences have given them enough sleepless nights.

Until then we have to be patient and continue looking for Justice for Madeleine.

Off to watch the US election now, so see you all tomorrow.

Nx

dylan said...

Nancy, I am useless with DIY too, that's why it took me so long ;-)

I hope you get the result you want from the US elections - let us know what happens as I'm giving it a miss tonight! I was all for Obama until my American friend said that he is in favour of the death sentence and now I'm undecided!

xx

Di said...

Dyl/Nancy

I think they are hopeing Amaral is brought down!! Therefore, no need to sue.

I hopefully don't think that is going to happen.

Off now

Enjoy your evening.
