Kate's Maddie holiday premonition

By JAMES CLENCH

Published: 20/10/08
KATE McCann had a haunting premonition about the holiday on which daughter Madeleine went missing.

She told a close pal before the trip had been booked: “I don’t know why, I’ve just got an uneasy feeling about it.”

Fiona Payne, 36, revealed Kate’s worries to Portuguese police.

Tapas friends ... Fiona and David Payne

Kate and husband Gerry, both 40, were at first undecided about whether to make the trip, she said.

Fiona was one of the Tapas Seven who dined with the McCanns on the night of three-year-old Madeleine’s disappearance at the Mark Warner Ocean Club resort in Praia Da Luz.

She told an officer: “This always haunts me. Kate ... what she said ... she was unsure.

“Gerry was quite keen but Kate said, ‘I don’t know why, I’ve just got an uneasy feeling about it.’

“And I don’t know why she said that. I don’t think even she knows.”

Fiona’s husband David, 42, said: “Kate didn’t feel quite easy about it.”

The details emerged during interviews given by the Tapas Seven — David, Fiona, her mum Dianne Webster, 64, Dr Russell O’Brien and his partner Jane Tanner, both 37, Dr Matthew Oldfield, 39, and his wife Rachael, 37.

They spoke to cops in April at Enderby, Leics.

The documents, which have been seen by The Sun, total more than 1,000 pages.

Asked how Kate appeared after Madeleine’s disappearance Fiona, an anaesthetist, said: “Awful. I’ve never seen such horrible raw emotion in my life and I’ve seen a lot of it in my job.

“She was bereft. She didn’t know what to do, she was panicking, extremely frightened for Madeleine and was wondering where she was or what was happening to her.

"And the helplessness of not being able to do anything, what should she be doing, what could they do.

“She was angry, really angry, punching walls, kicking walls.

“The next day she was covered in bruises. She was angry at herself.

“She kept saying, ‘I’ve let her down. We’ve let her down, Gerry. We should have been here’. And she prayed a lot.”

Husband David said: “Gerry broke down ... just a broken man.

"He would fling a cupboard open and have a look in a vain, desperate hope she might have been there.

“Then he flung himself on the floor and was just kicking the floor and was just, ‘She’s gone, she’s gone’.”

David’s mother-in-law Dianne said: “Gerry was distraught. I’ve never heard a man make the noises Gerry made.”

The Express do not use this picture in their articles, they use a picture of little Madeleine, I suspect the only one they are actually concerned about, time will tell.
Hiya all, You will see from the third report below that Express published an apology to all seven of the Tapas crew on 16/10 but then on Sunday 19/10 in a further apology apparently to the TAPAS 7 again, just two specific reports are referred to and only Rusell and Jane are apologised to. So why were they all standing on the steps of the High Court? And where was Russell, the one was really ahem, libelled! Taking his solicitor's advice I suspect and staying well out of it. Carter Ruck are not renowned for giving their clients good advice...Mr Justice Eady commented that Derek Jamieson's case was doomed to failure, did Carter Ruck tell Mr Jamieson, well no, they forgot to mention that culminating in Mr Jamieson picking up a £75,000 legal bill, nice one Carter Ruck the firm who "acts" for clients and costs them a packet!

Not only are the Express a little unclear as to who they are apologising to and for what... as we know, Clarence has been telling us for months that Kennedy is looking for a British Detective to head up the hunt for Maddie, somewhat cynically the Express also publish a report about this finishing with the rather odd words of Gerry McCann ...knowing what has been done and what has not been done is important in planning our future strategy. Well we never had any doubts about that, Gerry, even in the early days in PDL your frustration at not knowing what the Police had on you was all too apparent. I have never met a criminal yet who is not extremely anxious to know what the police are up to and just how much they have found out. You are no exception!

‘THE TAPAS SEVEN’ - AN APOLOGY

Sunday October 19,2008
In articles published on 16 September and 2 December 2007 we suggested that Russell O’Brien and Jane Tanner, the holiday companions of Kate and Gerry McCann, might be named as official suspects by the Portuguese police investigating Madeleine’s disappearance and that Dr O’Brien might have helped to cover up the true facts.
We now accept that these suggestions should never have been made and were completely untrue. We apologise to Russell O’Brien and Jane Tanner to whom we have agreed to pay substantial damages which they will be donating to the Find Madeleine Fund.

Hunt for detective to head Maddy probe - Sunday Express

By Brendan AbbottSunday October 19, 2008Kate and Gerry McCann are reviewing their strategy as no major breakthrough has emerged in the hunt for Madeleine.Millionaire businessman Brian Kennedy, their financial backer, is seeking a former high-ranking police detective to mastermind the private investigation. He has interviewed several candidates and will see more in the coming weeks. Whoever takes on the job faces the mammoth task of assessing information gathered by many private detectives since Madeleine vanished 18 months ago.The investigator will also have to read thousands of pages of Portuguese police files released in August and painstakingly translated. The family's spokesman Clarence Mitchell said the investigation was continuing in many countries as the McCanns study the files line by line.Heart specialist Mr McCann said in his blog report last week: "Kate and I have been incredibly busy over the last couple of months since the files were made public."We and our family have always vowed to leave no stone unturned in the search for our daughter and knowing exactly what has been done and, more importantly, what has not been done is vital in planning our future strategy."

'THE TAPAS SEVEN' - AN APOLOGY

Thursday October 16,2008
In articles published between July and December last year we suggested that the holiday companions of Kate and Gerry McCann might have covered up the true facts concerning Madeleine McCann’s disappearance and/or misled the authorities investigating her disappearance.
We also reported speculation that one member of the group, Dr Russell O’Brien, was suspected of involvement with Madeleine’s abduction. We now accept that these suggestions should never have been made and were completely untrue. We apologise to Jane Tanner, Russell O’Brien, Fiona Payne, David Payne, Matthew Oldfield, Rachael Oldfield and Diane Webster to whom we have agreed to pay substantial damages which they will be donating to the Find Madeleine Fund.

By the way folks, do you think Rachel looks just a tiny bit pregnant, I hope there will be no more McCann type holidays for her and her little one(s)!

Lesson learned, I hope, Rachel!

This reminds me of when people are made to appear in front of cameras and don't wish to so they look a certain way to show their thoughts rather than state them.

Hiya BT

They all look to as though they are trying to avoid putting on any expression/avoid the camera and hence the truth. But Mat Oldfield looks the most uncomfortable of all IMO, is he the one with the most intact conscience?

or would that be O'Brien, hence he is not there at all!

Hi All

Back for a while as OH is watching something that does not interest me.

Viv

Yes, I do think Rachel looks pregnant, quite honestly I am surprised all the women don't look pregnant!

I think this, is their get out clause!

Could it be JT & Kate next? I just wonder IMO.

Oh the poor women they are with child, how can we possibly condem them, blah blah blah, how can we put pregnant women on trial!!!

I rest my case :o((((

Unknown said...

Blimey Di, Jane looks rather large too, is that what they have been up to!! Pregnancy is not usually a get out clause, but I would not put it past them to try and arouse some sympathy, but sympathy with Maddie, never, and finding out the truth about what happened to her - they could not even bother with the reconstruction, the truth is all concealed within their pact of silence, poor little Maddie!

Doc, this is the new thread! Get your ass over here! :-)

Back to my translation which was sent to me tonight and has to be done well...TONIGHT!

These are especially for the Chucky Doll:

The McCanns have had to cancel their reconstruction of the night their daughter dissapeared.
The restaurant is fully booked.

What's the difference between the Find Madeleine Campaign and CSI?
One is an over-the-top, money-spinning work of fiction possibly based on a real crime, and everyone knows what CSI is.

Kate and Gerry McCann have said they will never forgive themselves for going to the tapas bar that fateful night.
The Chinese round the corner was doing a buffet for half the price.

"We Know What You Did Last Summer" has just hit box offices worldwide. Kate McCann is not expected to attend the premiere.

Do you know why there are no Gerry and Kate McCann stamps?
Because people wouldn't know which side they should spit at.

Di said...

Hi Viv

I felt rather cynical with my last post, but quite honestly I would put nothing past the lot of them.

It would not even surprise me if they wear fake pregnancy padding ;o))

It's not an anti forum. It is neither anti nor a forum. You can stop pissing now. See you're not that bright. Neither is ST for asking for the link. All one has to do is copy the first few words and do a google search.

Bark, you need to check the meaning of the word 'bigot'. You are certainly not the sharpest tool in the shed, though you are a bit of a tool.

Ok Snotdoc,

I know I am not the sharpest tool in the shed, but here, here man, do tell (google it man) how many miles per hour the car that carried the much loved Diane Princess of Wales was travelling at, upon impact and thereafter snotdoc, how many miles per hour Leanor was travelling down the staircase?

As a snot doctor, can you really align the injuries man?

Get your mop out of your arse man and start thinking

Erm, I was talking to Bark about the shed. As for the injuries, they both sustained basal skull fractures. Most survive this injury. Diana was moving just a wee bit faster. She died remember?

I haven't visited that forum for ages, poor Mrs Consecutive Numbers, I did not realise she was on there! Now that site is not good for anyone's health, let alone poor 2345.
Oh? That site makes me laugh. Just like your own. Laughter is good for one's health.

I see she is winding people up on there too? Poor lady, when is someone in her family going to realise what she is doing and help her? It will only end in tears on there, as it has done every other single place this lady has posted.

The only ones that recognise this person needs help are the pro's!
Lose the apostrophe. Your 'editors and publishers' are going to get tired of this sh*t ;-)))))

Of course the "Care and Control & Edit Button" means she believes that the McCanns and Clarence Mitchell are controlling her posts, or some such belief. I am afraid it will not be long before she starts accusing everyone of being clones.

Poor lady this is a symptom of a very serious mental health illness.
Oh? Is this a social worker's diagnosis?

I wish her well and I only hope her family cotton on to what she is doing on the computer and help her. It is very sad.
Eh? Are you the internet police now? I don't think your family would approve of what you are doing when they discover what really happened in PDL.

She certainly will not get any help from the author of that forum.
When she posted on Vile place, not one of them *INCLUDING* a supposed doctor, recognised this poor woman was seriously ill, we were telling them every single day and still they took no notice and Notdoc did and said nothing, he just joined in encouraging the poor woman using her as and when required, as did Vile herself!
You have read my *EMAILS*?

They got rid of her, just unceremoniously dumped her, when she had served her purpose. 2345 had considered those people friends, so this must have felt like a double whammy to her.
You're talking about K&G, right?

Well Doc, Rosiepops does not just diagnose ahem, other peoples' mental health problems, "she" recommends that certain people with such afflictions should be committed to a "secure unit". No judge, no jury, no psychiatric assessment, Rosie said so, the man is innocent but lock him up! lol lol lol: This from the one who loved to bleat about the Human Rights of Kate and Gerry McCann!

PS Rosie are they still taking their case to Europe?? Oh and if matters ever became as Orwellian as you prescribe, I would submit your real name for committal to a secure unit without trial, because I said so, care in the community having failed you so miserably. xxxxxxxxxxxx

Mental Health and Criminal Law Expert "Blogger Rosiepops" gives his/her expert opinion....
"It is extremely unlikely that this man killed Jill Dando, this does not mean that I think that Barry George should be free, neither do I think the poor man should be locked up in a prison. He is mentally unwell and needs proper care and supervision and needs to be in a secure unit for his own good."

Ive actually read this before in one of the many media sources that used little things to smear Kate and Gerry with. It was used(im sure) to suggest Kate and Gerry knew Madeleine would be taken whilst away. She was probably referring to the airplane journey which i think gives a lot of people the jibs before flying. I enjoy going abroad although in the run up to the flight i do get a little nervy..not because im afraid of flying as such, but because I would rather get there fast without being in the air...When the plane lands im one of the first to sigh a big sigh of relief.I lose 2 stone from sweating whilst up there and the air hostesses usually run when they go passed me because they are worried i might ask them for a bit of fresh air!!LOL No windows open up there and in case of an emergency just bend over and kiss your arss goodbye.

Kate will no doubt be smeared by antis Diane, your right...they will use this to suggest she was aware that Madeleine was going to be taken. When Madeleine is found and safely back home im sure they will also spew up some deranged garbage about how the mccanns must have known along she was safe. Thats after they have accused them of harming her mind you??Hmmmmm

Its like a vicious circle isn't it...they are as thick as sh#t...the lights are on but no bodys in....somethings cooking but no one knows what....and if you cant get a honest answer from any of them just make one up.Thats the antis for ya. Totally deluded to say the very least. They are continuously accused k&g of all sorts of sickening things. Some being really detailed and graphic in their opinions of the mccanns to. They are sooo sure that Madeleine as met her fate at her mammy or daddy's hands. If a news report points to another theorie the antis suggest that taking notice of news in papers is crazy and that it must be wrong. However if a news report suggest they are involved, the antis say that it must be true because it was printed int he local free herald!!

Hmmmmm basically they believe whatever is supporting their own deluded imaginations.

Think you need to look closer to home when you accuse people of being 'thick as sh#t'. Oh, Rosie must be so proud to have posters like you. Where's your old tjommie Sian btw? You got together not too long ago remember?

And for Rosie:
Your forum has '91 members'. Why have less than 20% of them logged in over the past few weeks? Methinks Sass was right :-))

Before I read back just wanted to say, Claudia, from previous thread ROFLMAO:-))) Was it a rival version to her own film? Did they beat her to the box office, aww what a shame! Never mind Kate, at least you have £800,000 left, steady on the Botox, Hun!

"We Know What You Did Last Summer" has just hit box offices worldwide. Kate McCann is not expected to attend the premiere.

hope4truth said...

Hi Doc

Is that a new post from him or part of the same long rant he posted a while ago???

He makes me laugh who said I wanted to be decent who said I was a nice person (wasnt me)...

I think Kate and Gerry McCann are discusting parents who have done nothing for Madeleine and plenty to protect themselves from any come back over their evil parenting skills. Along with every other parent on that holiday. If that makes me an evil bitch what the hell...

I am here as as stupid as it may seem I think children are very special and should never be neglected. The 3 year old from the fire is in care his Mother neglected him. What's the diffrence?

As for Kate hitting the walls dosent account for the grab marks on her arms. Or will someone now come forward and say she had to be dragged away.

"Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to decive"

That is where they went wrong you see troll no mother or father of a missing or dead loved child could act the way they did.

This Mother who was so bereft did not know how to act and beat the walls the Father beat the floor and neither of them searched....

A few days later both looked so joyus on what would have been Madeleine's 4th Birthday did they think enough time had past as they were working really hard???

If Madeleine was still alive and in the hands of evil perverts with access to a TV how do you think her parents looking so happy without her would make her feel? No words for her from either of them even Gerry's blog was all about them sick the pair of them.

Unknown said...

Doc thanks for the Article from the Sun.

It is nice to know that in spite of all the abuse I took for pointing out all the bruises on Kate I was not after all imagining things!

So, it only took them a year to come up with some excuses to the Police in April this year as to why Kate was covered in bruises. But punching walls and kicking the floor would only cause bruising and injuries to those extremeties, I am sorry "Dr Payne" it does not explain the bruising all up her arms, at all, does it? Was she violently grabbing her own arms to make such classic signs of domestic violence?

Additionally rage and violence are not a typical reaction at all to the plight Kate McCann supposedly found herself, no, it would have been a very different emotion altogether, abject grief and despair, with floods of tears, not fits of rage. We already knew Kate does rage, however, Phil McCann made a point of telling us how utterly furious she was, having been interviewed by the Police, as a suspect. That is what brought out the real rage in Kate McCann, that people, police included, just will not accept she is an example of a kind caring mum! Still on the night, at least she calmed down enough to give the press, friends and relatives her side of the story and of course contact a priest to absolve her of her sins!

Oh and by the way Dr Payne, I can think of a reason Kate was so fearful of going there, it was discovered there was no child listening service, which meant Kate and Gerry would be compelled to just do what they did and leave their children completely alone every single night of their holiday! I suppose she knew her husband would have none of the er normal parental behaviour, you know, taking the children with them, or getting a proper babysitter, they did not warrant that, they were too much of a nuisance. Both Kate and Gerry McCann are equally responsible for what happened to little Madeleine and this blog will continue until they are brought to book for that!

Kate's Maddie holiday premonition

Hope, it is rather ominous that Eddie indicated death scent in or right by their bedroom cupboard!

Why keep opening cupboards anyway given they knew for an absolute fact she had been abducted! They were very categoric about that in their first interview with Jane Hill. The sad truth is normal parents would not have jumped to the ocnclusion she was in the hands of "predatory paedophiles", they would damn well have gone out and looked for her!

Hey, ST, Poops and all you anon alter egos, it's an HONOUR to be insulted by you. I'm glad to know that Kate's got a good femine sixth sense. She had a premonition something was going to happen during their holiday.
Oh wait, you don't have to have a good sixth sense or a premonition that something might be wrong if you leave three under 4 year old children home alone to go eat and drink. That's not a sixth sense or a premonition, Kate. That's called logic. Got it?

Hiya Claudia - that was the link I was trying to make above, before she went on holiday she knew there would be no adequate childcare provision made for her children, she had heard there was not even a baby listening service on offer. They have all stated they expected something to happen, well sure that is quite inevitable when, as you say, two two year olds and a child nearly four, quite able to get up and wander around, are left alone to cry and worse!

She knew something had happened the night before, two of her little ones were crying for her, futile tears and distress as it happened because mom was where she could feel happy out of sight and out of earshot of her own little children. I know why she would not answer the question from the Police, did you want to give Maddie to a relative, because it was true. That would have only served to confirm the impression we have about McCann attitudes to looking after tiny tots..Gerry had tennis lessons to pay for, nowhere in the holiday budget could he find the wit to hire a nanny to do what his wife plainly did not want to do, act like a normal mom and look after her children!

Viv, I have no idea how a mother can hear that question (Is it true that in England you considered the possibility of handing over Madeleine’s guardianship to a relative?) and remain silent. Any normal mother would have jumped and screamed and yelled at that question.

I agree with you that Cipriano looks as though she has suffered a basilar skull fracture.

Well well. Why has the boss not disagreed with this one? I got endless grief after stating this on the DX forum.

Would have been interesting to see postmortem MRIs of MADDIE'S brain though, eh? I'm willing to bet there were a good little mix of SAHs and SDHs to be found. Maybe even a few hypodensities in the basal ganglia region too. And I'll bet fundoscopy would have been quite revealing as well. Good enough reasons to hide her body very well...

Hi All

Don't forget the bruises above Kate's eye.

Oh I know she was head banging, why did I not think of that.

Dream on Kate, come clean. Remember, if you don't confess to what actually happened someone else just might, and it may not be what you want to hear, or that far around the corner. IMO of course.

dylan said...

Claudia,

Your 18.13 post: Well said! :-))))

Hi Viv, Doc and anyone else around.

Doc, I have no idea what all of the long words mean but I'm sure your mop does ;-)

Viv, we always knew you were right about the bruises and it is a lame excuse as to how Kate received them. My ex used to ounch the walls and the only bruises he had were to his knuckles, not his arms.

Di, thanks for the compliment re my avatar. There were some photos published in a paper last wekend by an American who goes to extraordinary lengths to get his photos of the night sky in amazing surrounding landscapes, and I just googled his name. I'll give you a link so you can see his others if viv doesn't mind my posting it here.

Am I the only one who noticed that the identikit produced by the American 'psychics' is Gerry McCann? And the silver car, the remote farmhouse, the body transported in the boot...

Is the DX starting to hit back??

bath theory said...

Hi Claudia
Those words seemed somewhat amiss to me as well

'...She was angry, really angry, punching walls, kicking walls.

“The next day she was covered in bruises. She was angry at herself...'

So we are led to believe KH didn't hit a wall once without her friend or husband intervening and stopping her.

Come on. She wants us to believe the child got taken but left the other two in the room when going out to tell the people in the restaurant. Why couldn't she either ring the bar or reception or better still take the kids with her? Then we are led to believe she behaved like a ninja against the wall while all the 'comforting' adults around her just let her do it enough to bring out bruising. This is laughable.

Once again if you take the rule of good old common sense the words don't stack up. (IMO)

Also, I once had a bad feeling about a flight out of Kathmandu airport and guess what I didn't get on the plane. Kate had such a bad feeling about that week she repeatedly left her 3 children alone to be risked of harm and injury by some raving lunatic egg man ?

These 'stories' and words may well be proved to be true one day but I still believe they will be proved untrue and further than that I know for a fact very famous sportsmen pay huge amounts to cover up stories that are about to be published and thus it is not a big step to believe someone with a lot of money floating around could be doing the same.

Once again a scripted comment and not a soul felt response from the heart. Very telling body language.

Hello ALL

It is a shame that Leonor did not suffer something to her head that would cause constant pain for the rest of her vile evil life after abusing her daughter and murdering her....

How can anyone hate poor Joana that much to defend her bitch of a mother?

While I am on the subject of defending I wonder how the person who told the PJ that they had been asked to take Madeleine on is feeling? They must have loved her very much to agree to have her and must be heartbroken it was too late.

Cláudia said...

BT, I think one of these days they will ask us to believe in an alien abduction and the eggman will grow two little antennae.

I will be publishing a very academic and interesting article about psychology later that discusses how human beings react when they have conflciting thoughts going on in their minds. Extremely interesting reading folks. But must give the children a bath. Can't promise they will be in bed by 7.30pm on the dot though.

Cláudia said...

Viv, I think the police officer posing me such a question would end up more bruised than Kate after physically abusing the walls. :-)

bath theory said...

Yes one of the intriguing ongoing points is the issue of what is in their medical files. Surely the Portugese should have been informed whether speciofic drgus had been prescribed on a temporary or permannet basis prior to the holiday.

bath theory said...

But Claudia, even if the police officer had a lovley set of teeth and a shiny mop ?

Unknown said...

Doc, the technicalities of your 19.09 post are somewhat lost on me but I know we have often exchanged views about the frequent injury that happens to children, a parent in a rage, violently pushes the child into the wall causing catastrophic head injuries that can and do result in death. This is what has always defeated the idea of Maddie's demise being a pure "accident". If that were the case Kate and Gerry clearly have the wit to work out they should have faced the music. But, on the contrary, what has always been abundantly clear is there is no way they are ever going to let anyone find that body:

"Find the body and prove we killed her".

We do not need the body Gerry, but for the sake of your "beautiful little Princess" it would have been such a kind thing..an act that actually showed you had some respect of your children, as well as yourselves!

Di said...

Hi Doc

I do hope so :o))

We live in a small village with several elderly residents.

Interestingly, when Maddie disappeared they were all saying "Oh the poor child and poor parents."

Since the Tapas received their payout, you would be surprised by the change in opinions.

Only this morning I was told from an elderly lady, who was such a pro, "there time will come, what goes around comes around"

Bless her.

bath theory said...

Also, thinking about it my children had to be rushed to casualty several times and what was Maddie's history here. that would be an interesting read perhaps?

Unknown said...

Hiya BT

But from what we have seen of the video of the villa the McCanns went on to hire, the contents of Kate McCann's medicine chest are some pretty dangerous drugs prescribed for her father, and his particular condition. What was she doing with all of those?

Cláudia said...

BT, even so!

Unknown said...

BT I also recently made a post about how dangerous moms can be who suffer from untreated/undiagnosed depression. What was wrong with Kate may not necessarily be in her medical files, in fact I think given her position it is perhaps understandable she may have gone to extraordinary lengths not to be diagnosed and treated. How much better if she had got treatment, and given up work, like she has now done anyway. That would have been a far better prognosis for Kate McCann! But there again there was something else IMO she needed to get rid of in order to be well! You all know what I mean by that. Those bruises on her, and yes Di, the split above her eye, were certainly not self-inflicted, what a sad suggestion.

Fiona Payne seems to be going out of her way to try and shield Kate and Gerry, now why is she doing that, who else could she be shielding? I think there has to be a limit as to how far you will go for your best friend, if that is what she ever was to Kate!

Most parents do not take any chances with their precious children!

two points in my mind

1) BK claims to be on the side of wanting to assist the parents but why isn't his starting point to be on the side of Madeleine first. He is a father.

2)WHY IS MURAT BEING SO QUIET these days? I am still not convinced he did not know them.

Cláudia said...

BT, it is my personal opinion that Murat is trying to forget he was involved in this sordid affair and just wants to go back to the life he had before this. I was one of the people who questioned Mr Murat's part in all this. I am more and more convinced that he was framed and had absolutely nothing to do with it. That is my opinion after a bit of heavy reading.

Cláudia said...

Viv, ;-)

Unknown said...

BT - I am little wary of printing just what I think BK's motivation(s) may be, if you know what I mean:-))

But one thing is for sure he did not amass a £250M fortune by being that stupid!

Murat, I would expect him to be quiet somehow, that is the dignified way he has always behaved. I expect he is just enjoying his money and trying to get his life back. But yes, I do think it is likely there was some prior knowledge there! But more in terms of Gerry and perhaps another deciding he would make the perfect Patsy!

BT I look forward to that, psychology, definitely one of my favourite subjects and very helpful in understanding the bizarre, ongoing show the McCanns and their friends put on for the public, even 18 months later!

That picture above is quite a spectacle really, isn't it, if I did not know better, I could be forgiven for being as ignorant as Rosie and calling them "Pretendy Doctors". It is like an American film, but I guess that is what they wanted it to be! So maybe they are playing to that ultimate market...I never thought Gerry was one to do things on the spur of the moment, no, there has been a lot of work going on behind the scenes for months, fat lot of good that did them. Well, depends on your point of view, the public may think they are guilty but they have still not been arrested so he may think he has a result for all his efforts, somehow I really doubt that. If there is one thing Police love to defeat it is someone as psychopathic as him, oh and his lovely wife, of course x

THINKING & MAKING DECISIONS

When two things don't match it creates a dissonance in your brain. This article is a classic 'The Rationalising Animal' by Elliot Aronson from Psychology Today Magazine 1973.

'...In 1957 Leon Festinger proposed his theory of cognitive dissonance which describes and predicts man's rationalising behaviour. Dissonance occurs whenever a person simultaneously holds two inconsistent cognitions (ideas, beliefs, opinions)...

Festinger maintained that this state of inconsistency is so uncomfortable that people strive to reduce the conflict in the easiest way possible. They will change one or both cognitions so that they will 'fit together' better...

...he doesn't want to believe that he did an absurd thing. When a person reduces his dissonance he defends his ego, and keeps a positive self image. But self justification can reach startling extremes; people will ignore danger in order to avoid dissonance ...

Dissonance theory would predict that you will not listen to the witness, because to do so would be to admit that your judgement and decisions were wrong....

...Your conscience, let us suppose tells you that it is wrong to cheat, lie, steal... The easiest way to reduce dissonance is to minimise the negative aspects of the action one has chosen and to change one's attitude about its immorality...

...He found that a subject with high self-esteem was most likely to derogate the victim...

... It is clear that people will go to extra-ordinary lengths to justify their actions. They will lie, cheat...accuse innocent bystanders of being vicious provocateurs, ignore information ... and generally engage in all manner of absurd postures...'

THE ARTICLE extends further into how humans escape from reality - a fascinating subject.

IN SHORT when we have two very conflicting things going on in our minds bizarre actions can occur to justify our actions internally to ourselves and externally to others. We try literally to convince ourselves our decisions are not cruel, unkind, immoral etc and to justify this action it is even better if we can find/latch onto a strong purpose for it to gain credence.

:)

Tomorrow I will be talking something about The Self as Causal Actor ie people take credit for good things that happen and deny responsibility for the bad things that happen.

bath theory said...

Hope you enjoy it and yes Viv this is a picture of part of my farden. A peaceful place indeed. Glad you liked the song. Now I must watch the end of Amazon.

Unknown said...

BT, thanks for that, it also brought back many memories for me on my probation studies degree, about behaviourism and other psychological approaches to dealing with offenders. In fact this has, of late, become the be all and end all with offenders often simply being put on cognitive behavioural programmes which seek to creat cognitive dissonance and thus develop awareness and insight into their behaviour. I am afraid I was not altogether convinced by that approach alone though arguing that we should be taking a far more holistic approach and it seems this is now starting to happen, but of course that is expensive! Sending certain offenders on programmes with a psychological approach may reduce re-offending by 10% but training an offender for work and getting him into a job - 50%, but the programme at least teaches the relationship skills that are necessary to get and keep that job! Programmes that teach social skills and have the aim of reducing angry aggression seem to be far more successful, Rosie should try one! Impulsive offenders do act before they think, Rosie, when encouraged to reflect what they have written or more likely, what they have done, can be a deep embarrassment, but you need to develop insight to be able to see this, hence I do recommend a good CBT course for you:-)))

Have you got over the celebrating yet?

Unknown said...

Hiya Doc

I too have never been very impressed with this man, who sought to interfere in a serious criminal investigation by starting his own private prosecution purely on the basis they neglected their children. If he is a lawyer he clearly should have known that he simply could not have a trial about part of the case and this would have precluded the more serious charges from being brought at all. In short, he must have known he would not be allowed to bring this prosecution and was just a publicity seeker. I am also very suspicious of someone who just wants to emphasise neglect, per se, because that would be tantamount to saying they did nothing else!

xx

Rori Hegarty said...

ICTOAN, sadly i did not get to see the match as i was working, unplanned of course, but these things happen. Il put the celebrations on hold for the big one!

Unknown said...

I have had a quick look at his article and I am perplexed! If he is saying Madeleine was not abducted then he is clearly implying the McCanns killed Madeleine and disposed of her body, that is not child neglect!!

I think this blog is more realistic in being against child abuse which covers both neglect, and worse! This is not to decry the fact that children can die due to neglect but this more typically tends to be parents who starve/fail to get medical attention for their children.

Oh, of course, she fell down the stairs - not that she remembers that, but ashtrays and thugs spring to mind.
Oh? You believe a convicted child killer?

What is the difference between Kates' bruising and Leonors?
Well, Leonor's injuries were self-inflicted.

Let me remind you that charges have been brought against five PJ

If they are found guilty I'll eat my monitor. Without sauce.

NO charges have been brought against Kate & Gerry McCann or their holiday companions.

Tony Bennett does give a very good account of why we just cannot believe Drs Kate and Gerry McCanns' varying accounts, with a couple of glaring errors. Most notably he describes Professor Mark Harrison, MBE, National Police Improvement Agency who made a report stating that Madeleine should be considered dead and the investigation conducted accordingly as a "Police dog handler with Leicester Police". A bit of a come down, I think! He seems to think he is at the same level as PC Grime!!

Docmac,

Your post at 19:09:00 o'clock BST. I wonder if this is why the child was made a WoC. If she were ever found alive or dead would she be returned to the UK? Would any PM be performed in the UK? Easier to keep details within the one circle then, imo.

docmac said...

Hi Zodiac

The revelation that she was made a WoC was very, very interesting. One must hope that if any remains are found the relevant examinations and tests would be conducted in Portugal. I'm willing to bet that the McConns would not jet out to identify those remains.

Viv, you should read the 11.35 post on ST. Apparently I'm on a power trip and you're just a jealous fat neck :-))))) Oh, and Claudia is a traitor. Bloody Portuguese! :-)))

Cláudia said...

Doc, ROTFLMAO!!!!!

Cláudia said...

Doc, you could make a collection of the more significant posts and send them to K & G to make them proud! PMSL!

docmac said...

Rosie's got something to say to Di too. Just using another name, which she NEVER, EVER does ;-)

Claudia, please don't address me. I'm having a power surge and I've decided to ignore swarthy Portuguese people, even those that are not swarthy :-)

Cláudia said...

Doc, LOLOLOL

Think about it. After all, G encouraged people to get in touch. ;-)

docmac said...

'Someone' is talking to themself on ST again ;-)

docmac said...

See another poster also made a post at 12:47. Trying to derail my power struggle? Portuguese?

docmac said...

Off now. To all British people, have a great afternoon.

Cláudia said...

Doc, PMSL!!!!
És de partir a moca a rir, meu! :-)

docmac said...

Oh, I see the Russians are on the blog now. Probably pretendy oil billionaires. Time to get out of here :-)

BBL.

Cláudia said...

Doc, you're inspired, today!
I would also be if I hadn't something really boring to translate.
Laters.

Anonymous oooh docmac is sooo jealous of rosie (and doesn't it show?) said...
Your parents gave you a really odd name.

Oops looks like Rosie's gone and done it again! Good for Rosie.

She has wound the Doc up and let him go, and now he is buzzing about all over the place like a jealous thing demented [sic].

Docmac, you 'aint [sic] anywhere near Rosie's level. You just have not got what it takes.

How jealous you have made yourself look. ha ha ha you prat!
Me, jealous? Of whom? Or of what? There is nothing in my life that I would want to change.

Anyone else notice there are a lot of 'jealousy' and 'green eyed monster' posts today? Guess who the author is :-)))

Claudia, if you are about later , you may want to have a look at this. http://www.24horasnewspaper.com/total.php?numero=2975&link=07... suggestions that Barra Da costa has submitted some documents to have the case re opened, not sure how to take this , Obrigada.

There's another post at 15:18 that I can't translate. Could be Bulgarian, but not sure :-)

Had to repost. Jeez, I'm having Rosiepops moments. Can't type English today.

hope4truth said...

Oh is the jealousy card being played again not been used for a while LOL...

Cláudia said...

Isis, I've read that. But it comes from Barra da Costa. The one who said on live TV the McCanns liked a dance called the swing and then apologised. From then on, in my opinion, everything the man has done and said he has done and said to avoid being sued. Unless he finds Madeleine and cracks the case, I won't believe a word of what he says.

Cláudia said...

Doc, if you copy paste the post I could try to identify the language! :-)

Rori Hegarty said...

Thanks Claudia, appreciate your viwepoint. Wasnt quite sure what to make of it.

Hope, you should see the post about your bunnies :-(

Cláudia said...

That's Hungarian, Doc! ;-)

ST had to bring back to life some anons because the shit hole wasn't looking stupid enough. For their standards, that is. :-)

hope4truth said...

What have they said about my bunnies???

docmac said...

Hungarian, hey? Who would have thought.

No, Claudia. The shit hole always looks stupid. It's because it wasn't busy enough.

docmac said...

It looks like Hope's bunnies have had enough of her ignoring them in favour of posting the same repetitive nonsense over and over and over and over....again.

Who can blame them.

Check it out

There are only two people on that blog who know how to post hyperlinks. The owner and the infamous one. Take your pick.

Gotta go for a bit.

Hello Claudia, Hope, Doc & Isis,

Looks like I've missed all of the entertainment this morning!

Doc: "Docmac, you 'aint [sic] anywhere near Rosie's level. You just have not got what it takes." - that is a work of genius :-)))

Hope, I wouldn't worry your lovely bunnies, they have more brains than ST and its bloggers, collectively ;-)

Claudia, hope you finish your translation soon.

xx

Cláudia said...

I know it always looks stupid. But sometimes, when it's not busy enough, it doesn't look as stupid as it normally does. Then the 'anons' are brought back to life. :-)

Cláudia said...

Hi, Dylan.
It's in progression, thank you.

Doc, did I ever tell you that I really like Mrs Fenn? ;-)
'See' you!

hope4truth said...

DOc

LOL bloody hell they must be getting fed up of posting under a load of diffrent names if that is all they can think to say...

Then again supporters of child neglect idea of rabbit care would be to put one in a hutch and ignore it until they can be bothered to feed or clean it out...

And just for that poster...

HOW CAN THE McCANNS HOLD THIER HEADS UP AFTER NEGLECTIN 3 CHILDREN AGED 3 AND UNDER NIGHT AFTER NIGHT. LEAVING THEM ALL DAY IN A CRECHE. IGNORING MADELEINES PLEA WHEN SHE TOLD THEM SHE CRIED. KATE REFUSED TO ANSWER A SINGLE QUESTION ON HER DAUGHTERS BEHALF. THEY NEVER LOOKED FOR HER. THEY LOOKED SO HAPPY SO OFTEN HOW WOULD MADELEINE FEEL ABOUT THAT?

Cláudia said...

Oooops, Clarrie, didn't Kate tell you that in her statement to the police she said they took her mobiles with them, you silly billy? You should communicate more. Or lie less.

Cláudia said...

Oh, and she also never opened Madeleine's bedroom windown. But the only fingerprints found were hers and consistent with the act of opening it. Despite the window having been cleaned on Wednesday, the day before the phantom attack.

Hope/Dylan,

'Hope, I wouldn't worry your lovely bunnies, they have more brains than ST and its bloggers, collectively ;-)'

I think the Bunnies droppings have more intelligence than ST and it's bloggers collectively!

Rori Hegarty said...

Claudia, no wonder it was called " A Story Badly Told". Hi Dyl , nice to see you and catch up , hope all is well with you:)

Anonymous said...

'Despite the window having been cleaned on Wednesday, the day before the phantom attack.'

Claudia didn't you know that all Phantom Abductors have to clean the windows before they leave with their abductee/s. It is in their 48rules for Phantom Attacking guide book.

Anonymous said...

'48 rules' son distracted me by giving me a goodbye hug and kiss.

Cláudia said...

Isis, it certainly is very badly told.

Zodiac, sorry, I wasn't familiar with the 48 rules for Phantom Attacking. :-(

dylan said...

Hi Zodiac! lol! Maybe Hope would be kind enough to parcel the droppings up on a weekly basis and send them in brown paper envelopes to Troll!

Hope, I confess I just had a read too. How sad and derranged they all are. When did we ever resort to using personal insults such as "fat" etc. How childish. We may use the words "thick" and "spiteful" but then I think that is perfectly justtified!

Claudia, gald you ar nearly done. When do you start your PhD? I have the memory span of a goldfish at times!

xx

dylan said...

Hello Isis, nice to see you too. I am fine, thank you. I've a spot of washing-up to do but it can wait ;-)

Zodiac/Dyl

Well after trolls long rant about me I have proved I am really pushing the right buttons...

Poor Troll fancy having to invent lots of posters and have to keep company with a very bad poet and a man named Rosie...

Did I mention Child neglect is evil and wrong?

xxx

Cláudia said...

Bye, Zodiac.
Dylan, :-)

dylan said...

Hope, yes you must be, & lol!!

That Cipriano woman and her incestuous brother make me feel sick for a) what they did to thier daughter & niece respectively, and b) for sleeping with each other.
However, whislt 'b' is not deserving of any injuries she sustained, I have no sympathy for her because of 'a' and I don't blame you for wishing it had been worse. I don't think they seriously can have any sympathy for her and it's just to score yet more cheap shots at you, but, put it this way : If they REALLY do have sympathy for her and really don't agree with your sentiments, then that makes them REALLY SICK. (or in their childish diction - Sickos!)

xx

hope4truth said...

Dyl

Actually if I had a tendancy to feel sorry for people who neglect their children and then laugh their way around the world and refuse to cooperate in any way whatsoever to help find the daughter they say was abducted...

I would feel very sorry for the sort of support they have atracted as it makes them look like evil monsters...

A site that is there to defend them make excuse after excuse for any other Mother who had a hand in murdering her child poor woman she should be given a sainthood in their eyes for a crime which is heinous in every way...

I would have stopped posting long ago but they just keep me going...

Whoever hired them must be kicking themselves LOL x

docmac said...

Someone is STILL talking to himself over on ST. Only using his real blogger name this time.

BTW, Poops.
"Generally this post of yours was you trying to make yourself look smart and clever. It was a post about nothing, just you trying to be funny and guess what? You failed."
Of course I failed at being funny. As you just said in the previous sentence I was trying to look smart and clever. Don't do multitasking. I'm not a woman you know. ROTFLMAO! Where the hell did you go to school? The same one as Clairesy?

Cláudia said...
