Good Morning All,

Folling my post detailing the Madeleine Fund accounts yesterday I copy below today’s Daily Mail's opinion on the recently release accounts for the Fund I copy them below:-

"Where the £2m you gave to find Madeleine McCann has gone

The fund set up to help find Madeleine McCann raised almost £2million in the first ten months after she vanished, it was revealed yesterday.

The wave of shock and public sympathy that swept Britain after her suspected abduction led supporters to donate money at a rate of almost £260 an hour.

Accounts lodged with Companies House show the fund received £1.4million in bank donations, another £391,000 over the internet and £64,000 from the sale of T-shirts and wristbands.

In total, it received £1.85million in its first ten months and earned £33,424 in interest. It spent £815,113 on the search for Madeleine in that time.

This included £26,000 to fund the purchase of merchandise and £250,000 on the fees for private investigators.

But the accounts – which have been made public for the first time – have been published with a warning that donations had gone on to fall dramatically and were now ‘significantly lower’ than in the immediate aftermath of the three-yearold’s disappearance in Portugal in 2007.

Support for her parents – Kate and Gerry – was rocked when Portuguese police named them as suspects, and when it emerged they had used public donations to pay two £2,000 instalments on their mortgage.

Madeleine vanished from a holiday flat in the Algarve resort of Praia da Luz on May 3, 2007, while her parents ate dinner at a nearby restaurant with friends.

The accounts provide a fascinating insight into the surge of support the family received, but also the costs of their worldwide campaign to find their child.

The fund’s biggest expense in the first ten months was £250,000 spent on private investigators hired to try to find her, including the Spanish agency Metodo 3.

Agency boss Francisco Marco boasted he would find Madeleine within three months, but his ‘leads’ seemingly came to nothing and the firm is no longer involved with the hunt.

The fund spent £123,573 on campaign management, which is believed to include the salary of the McCanns’ temporary spokesman Justine McGuinness and the fees of a PR agency.

A later spokesman, former BBC journalist Clarence Mitchell, had his salary paid by one of the couple’s wealthy benefactors.

The fund spent £111,522 on legal fees and expenses and £81,904 on posters and television and newspaper adverts appealing for information about Madeleine. Mr and Mrs McCann, both 40, set up the fund in May 2007.

Legal restrictions meant it could not be set up as a charity, so it is run as a not-for-profit company by a board made up of McCann friends, colleagues and relatives.

Mr McCann’s brother John is its chairman and wrote a foreword to the accounts. He said: ‘As expected, the level of donations has fallen over time, although we have a number of loyal donors continuing their support.’

He went on: ‘However our expenses are ongoing and likely to increase . . . The release of the police investigation files has enabled our investigative team to access a wealth of new information to be followed up, resulting in increased search and investigation activity.

'We will continue to ensure that Madeleine is not forgotten and will leave no stone unturned in our continued search for her.’

The accounts cover the months from May 2007 to March 2008, when the fund had £1.05million remaining in its coffers.

It has since been boosted by several libel payouts to the McCanns and their friends, the so-called Tapas Seven, which they donated to the fund.

The McCanns were cleared as suspects last August.

Their spokesman Mr Mitchell said: ‘People will be able to see that every penny of the money they so generously donated has been spent properly in the hunt to find Madeleine.’"

and just as we rather belatedly get last year's account up to April 2008 the other bombshell for the McCanns, yes, it is official, British Agencies continue to investigate them:

Dear Ms xxx
RE: FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT REQUEST
HOME OFFICE MATERIAL RELATING TO MADELEINE MCCANN

I am writing further to my correspondence on the 16th December 2008. We are now in a
position to offer a full reply to your request. I would like to apologise for the length of time it
has taken to respond to your request. This delay has been due to giving full and due
consideration to the public interest test together with the necessity to consult with other
agencies.

It is noted that your request was to essentially seek information for any record or document
or extract thereof reporting or evidencing that neither of the parents of Madeleine Beth
McCann possessed any credit card or debit card from any financial institution during the
period 25th April 2007 and 12th September 2007. You additionally requested any record or
document or extract thereof reporting or evidencing that the alleged affirmation was made by
any official of the Home Office to any police officer in the Leicestershire Constabulary and
failing the existence of any written record whether such affirmation was made verbally the
name of the official(s) and the recipient officer(s). The request was also seeking information
of any record or document or extract reporting or evidencing the credit card or debit
transactions made by the parents of Madeleine Beth McCann between the 4th May 2007 and
21st July 2008.

Your request for information has been considered under the Freedom of Information Act
2000 (the Act) and we are now able to provide you with a substantive response to your
request.

Section 1 of the Act places two duties on public authorities when handling requests. The first
of these duties, provided at s1(1)(a) is to confirm or deny whether the information requested
is actually held by that authority. The second duty is for that information to be disclosed
where it has been confirmed that it exists. This is provided under s1(1)(b).

The Home Office can neither confirm nor deny that we hold information relevant to your
request as our duty under s1(1)(a) does not apply by virtue of the following provisions of the
Act:

* Section 27(4) – prejudice to International Relations;
* Section 31(3) – prejudice to Law Enforcement activities; and
* Section 38(2) – endangering Health & Safety.

This letter therefore also serves as a refusal notice under s17(1) of the Act.

Furthermore, the Home Office will not comment on any of the information contained in
Goncal Amaral’s book, ‘A Verdade da Mentira’ as it would potentially undermine ongoing
investigations.

There are a number of sensitivities relevant to your request, given that Madeleine McCann is
still missing and the investigation is still ongoing. Confirming or denying whether any
information is held could undermine the investigation, prejudice international relations and
could endanger the health and safety of members of the public.

We have considered public interest considerations in making our decision and we have
attached these to this letter. We believe that, at this time, the public interest strongly favours
neither confirming nor denying that the information you have requested is or is not held by
the Home Office.

This response should not be taken as conclusive evidence that the information you
have requested either does or does not exist.

If you are dissatisfied with this response you may request an independent internal review of
our handling of your request by submitting your complaint within two months to the below
address quoting reference xxx

During the independent review the department’s handling of your information request will be
reassessed by an official that was not involved in providing you with this response. Should
you remain dissatisfied after this internal review, you will have a right of complaint to the
Information Commissioner as established by section 50 of the Freedom of Information Act.
I realise that you may be disappointed with this response. However we have considered
your request with great care, and the Home Office always seeks to provide as much
information as it is able to.

Thank you for your interest in the Home Office.
Yours sincerely

Public Interest Considerations

s.17 – Refusal of request

(1) A public authority which, in relation to any request for information, is to any extent
relying on a claim that any provision in part II relating to the duty to confirm or deny is
relevant to the request or on a claim that information is exempt information must,
within the time for complying with section1(1), give the applicant a notice which -

(a) states the fact,
(b) specifies the exemption in question, and
(c) states (if that would not otherwise be apparent) why the exemption applies.

s.27 – International Relations

(1) Information is exempt information if its disclosure under this Act would, or would be
likely to, prejudice,

(a) relations between the United Kingdom and any other state,
(b) relations between the United Kingdom and any international organisation or
international court

(4) The duty to confirm or deny does not arise if, or to the extent that, compliance with
section 1(1)(a) –
(a) would, or would be likely to, prejudice any of the matters mentioned in
subsection (1)

s.31 – Law Enforcement
(1) Information which is not exempt information by virtue of section 30 is exempt
information if its disclosure under this Act would, or would be likely to, prejudice-

(a) the prevention or detection of crime,
(b) the apprehension or prosecution of offenders,
(c) the administration of justice,

(4) The duty to confirm or deny does not arise if, or to the extent that, compliance with
section 1(1)(a) would, or would be likely to, prejudice any of the matters mentioned in
subsection (1)

s.38 – Health & Safety

(1) Information is exempt information if its disclosure under this Act would, or would be
likely to-

(a) endanger the physical or mental health of any individual, or
(b) endanger the safety of any individual.

(4) The duty to confirm or deny does not arise if, or to the extent that, compliance with
section 1(1)(a) would, or would be likely to, prejudice any of the matters mentioned in
subsection (1)

Harm and prejudice

The investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann is still ongoing. There are
significant unknowns in relation to her disappearance. Leicestershire Constabulary are the
lead force in the UK dealing with this investigation but the principle investigation agency is
Policia Judiciara (PJ) in Portugal. We believe that significant harm to the investigation could
result from either confirming or denying that we hold the information you have asked for.

Should this investigation lead to a prosecution, saying whether or not this information is or is
not held by the Home Office would risk undermining the human rights of any suspect to a fair
trial and the rights of a victim, particularly if the prosecution would fail due to such an
announcement.

If the Home Office was to either confirm or deny that it did or did not hold any information that
was gathered in the course of this investigation, it might risk compromising the conduct of
this investigation. This could ultimately prejudice the administration of justice. In any event,
to confirm or deny that any such information that was or was not obtained in the course of a
criminal investigation, either voluntarily or through compulsory powers, ought not to be
generally disclosed, save as far as it is necessary for the purposes of establishing or
defending rights in litigation.

There is consequently a strong public interest in ensuring that evidence is not contaminated
for any future trial. In addition there is a strong public interest to preserve relations with the
Policia Judiciara (PJ) in Portugal whilst Madeleine remains missing.

Two of the Home Office’s objectives are to support the efficient and effective delivery of
justice, and to lead visible, responsive and accountable policing. The manner in which the
Home Office works to support the Police Service as a whole is one of our core business
functions.

If the Home Office prejudiced such a high-profile and sensitive investigation by confirming or
denying that we either do or do not hold any of the information that you have requested, we
would be seen as working against the efforts of both UK and Portuguese policing authorities,
undermining their determined efforts to locate Madeline McCann and her assailants. This
would not be in the best interests of the public..

Any prejudicial effects to these ongoing investigations could jeopardise the health & safety,
of Madeline McCann, in that it might significantly affect the chances of her being found.
There is no actual public interest served in releasing information that may jeopardise the
health & safety of any individual.

There is a strong public interest in the UK maintaining the arrangements it currently enjoys
with other States in matters of judicial and mutual legal cooperation in criminal and other
matters. Any act that would prejudice this investigation may discourage other States with
complying with reasonable requests issued by the UK or from pursuing legitimate
investigations in the UK for fear that the product of such requests or investigations may be
disclosed to private citizens.

Morning all,

There were some really good posts yesterday and I've just finished catching up on them all.

Claudia - well done, it's good to see you make the 400 spot and back on form ;-)

Viv, it is nice to see the purple blog talking about nature and gardens, isn't it? It shows that they do have a good side and I like to think there is good in just about anyone, well, somewhere! :-)

I liked this passage from yesterday's posts:

'October 2007: a woman who was babysitting at Ocean Club, in apartment 5A, on August/September 2006, spotted a man “hiding in shadows” on a Thursday – the same day Madeleine, four, vanished”, as The Sun wrote on October 31.”

“The nanny – identified only as M.H. – reported the chilling incident to police in England shortly after the hunt for Madeleine began in May, but did not speak to cops in Portugal.”, according to the newspaper. Clarence Mitchell added: “This evidence backs up what we have always said, that Maddie was taken from her bed by an abductor.”'

Amazing! Thanks The Sun and Pinkie, just goes to show we can all breathe a sigh of relief in the knowledge that paedophile, children snatchers only ever strike on a Thursday and our children are quite safe on any other day of the week!

Hope you all enjoyed the snow yesterday. Ours has gone now but I'm thankful there's no slush. I hate slush!

Hiya Dilly!

Well yes, it is nice the Pinks suddenly got an interest in nature and wildlife but maybe someone needs to explain to Rosie, hedgehogs hibernate in the winter, otherwise they would die!

I am actually very shocked about Brian Kennedy and the Metodos going to tell the Police all those fantastic lies and in the process making Michaela ill with worry. Not nice!

Kennedy says he is just interested in child abuse and neglect and finding out who the real culprits are including the McCanns, I did not find those words very sincere, if that were genuinely the case he clearly caused himself a massive conflict of interests!

The snow has certainly not gone here it is pretty thick on the ground and looks like paradise out of my windows. In fact Luke and I are debating whether to visit my mom and step father, the roads look pretty clear, so long as we avoid lanes!

On the report, which is in the DVD files, it's referred that Mr. Kennedy stressed, just as the meeting started, that his only intent was a charitable one, because he was concerned with cases related with child neglect and missing children. He stated that his concern, in that specific case, was only the truth and nothing more than the truth, no matter the McCann, their friends or any other person was involved or suspect.

A meeting he attended with :

Mr. António Jimenez (former head of Police Anti-Kidnapping Unit from Catalonia)

MY GOODNESS IS THIS A MISTAKE IN THIS REPORT, BRIAN KENNEDY, A DIRECTOR OF THE DETECTIVE COMPANY!!!!

Volume XIII

Service Information
2007.11.14

To: Coordinator of the Criminal Investigation
From: Joao Carlos, Inspector

Concerning the investigation of the disappearance of the British minor, Madeleine McCann, I present you Sir with the following:

On the 19th of October, we were contacted by the Commissary General, located in Madrid, by the Chief of the Kidnapping Unit, Alberto Carbas, who passed to us the information that the McCann family had contracted a Spanish company known as “METODO 3”, composed of Spanish private detectives. This business, or in other words, the costs of the activities of this business were being covered by a Scottish multi-millionaire whose name is BRIAN KENNEDY and whose objective was to locate the British minor.

With this information, we were asked if we were available and interested in meeting with a representative of this Spanish business, and also with the Commissary General and Chief of the Kidnapping Unit of the Police of our neighbouring country, whose operation is in Madrid.

The meeting had as its objective to receive on behalf of the private detectives, from that moment and for their own wishes, relevant information with the aim to ascertain the truth, and to state that they would not interfere in police work, and at most they would serve as a complement to some useful information. They firmly state that they are not working directly for the McCann family, but for Brian Kennedy and that their sole purpose is to locate the missing child, or to gather the inescapable truth of what happened.
They did not ask for any information regarding the investigation, nor was any offered to them, for obvious reasons as this is found incorporated in the Portuguese penal process.

On the 13th of the current year, in the presence of the signatory and inspectors Paulo Ferreira and Ricardo Paiva, a meeting was held, in this department, with Brian Kennedy, the director of the detective company, Francisco Marco and an advisor of this same company, Antonio Jimenez, ex-chief of the Kidnapping Unit of Catalan. From the beginning, Brian Kennedy was questioned, and ascertained that the meeting only had this scope--of transmitting that his objective in all of this was purely charitable in that he is interested [in helping to stop] the bad treatment of minors and in missing children. He affirmed that he only was interested in discovering the truth and nothing more even if the McCann family, the friends, or any other person is found to be involved in the disappearance.

During the course of this meeting, the director of METODO 3 gave us a small book (attached), with information relative to the disappearance of the minor. This information, as we were told, was received via telephone and that they had already opened a line in Spain, specifically to receive and deal with information.

In this book, written in Spanish, we can analyse three pieces of information:

1. In the first case, we observed that there was report of facts which occurred in August/September of 2006, and which appears to us somewhat extemporaneous, as it cannot now be related to the material under investigation.
2. In the second point, we should remember that the computers of Sergey Malinka were searched and that nothing of suspicion was found there or related to paedophilia.
3. In that which concerns the third point, we are currently carrying out diligences with the intent to confirm or disprove the related information.

With nothing more to report.

Joao Carlos, Inspector

Hi Viv,

Yes it is shocking, indeed. It wasn't a child as it was too light to be handed over like that, the driver didn't even see the person he witnessed as he was driving-by at speed, and I always thought the nanny had said she saw a person in the bushes just before Maddie disappeared. Well I call almost a year before much longer than 'just before' and the Thursday thing a 1 in 7 coincidence! It just goes to show how, when you know the facts, that a completely different slant can be spun on an account, just by leaving out a few details!

Enjoy your day in the snow :-)))

Unknown said...

Hiya Dilly

Well yes, it just goes to show that the delightful Messrs. Kennedy, Marco and Jimenez were very interested in completely wasting the time of the Portuguese Police and harassing and accusing innocent people.

xx

dylan said...

Viv, how true! An anyway, if BK is so interested in helping to find missing children, I would have thought it would be a far better thing to donate to, or set up, an entire charity, dedicated to helping the parents of all missing children in the UK. Sarah Payne's mother campaigned tirelessly to obtain Sarah's Law, I wonder if BK helped her too? If so, I take it all back!

xx

Unknown said...

Hiya Dilly

I think Mr Kennedy felt it prudent to stress to the Portuguese Police that he, not the McCanns, was employing the Metodos, otherwise they would not have even given him the time of day! And neither would I!!

Later, he goes to offer Robert Murat a job, all in the name of working for children, I am sure!

Well done Robert, for sending him off "with a flea in his ear"

So Gonçalo Amaral party leaders have overruled the local party activists’ opinion and the opinion polls, which clearly put him in the lead, and have not given him their blessing as their official candidate. Imo this wasn’t the right time for Amaral to make his political move as the Cipriano and MBM case and the allegations from these two factions are still not completely resolved.

What he should do is wait to a more appropriate time, which a lot of people have had to do before. What I would say is sometimes it is better to stand as an independent candidate like Ken Livingstone, in the London Mayoral election. If you remember the Labour party turned their back on him because they thought he would be an embarrassment to them. He subsequently went on and won the election as an independent candidate and was in position for two terms. The Labour Party of course inviting him back into the fold along the way. If you can’t beat him join him.

With Amaral I still can’t put out of my mind completely the possibility of someone connected with the McCann case putting the boot well and truly in. After all it wouldn’t do for someone in opposition to the McCanns’ version of 3rd May to make political headway. They have gone out of their way to ridicule and rubbish the pj so if the lead police officer was elected this might cast doubt on their summation.

Didn't poops say we were not going to like what we were about to hear or similar.

I for one am not worried, every dog has his day ;o))

Unknown said...

Hiya

Well I kind of echo the sentiments, it is very hard to triumph in the face of adversity and I was surprised Goncalo ran for office whilst the Cipriano case was ongoing.

In relation to the Maddie case, I do think it is very likely the boot was put in for him, and there seem to be clear connections in the Cipriano case too with this peculiar lawyer being linked to the Metodos and "searching" for Maddie in the Damn of Arade. That there was an unprecedented smear campaign carried out by Clarence and his minions in the British media cannot be in any doubt and the sickening adjectives used to describe him were an absolute disgrace.

As for Poops why does he/she hate Goncalo Amaral, which seems to be very apparent? Me too for that matter! Quite how any normal person could pen thousands of posts containing such sickening abuse of a fellow human being defeats me. Neither of us have abused any children or been prime suspects in their disappearance either!

I am sure both Goncalo and all of us get very near the truth and that is what really upsets them!

Hi Di,

Keep the willpower up and don't go there! I posted ages ago that I wasn't going to Troll's anymore, and I didn't, however I am getting to the point where I think I shouldn't go to Rosie's anymore. It gets addictive because you see something unpleasant posted about yourself or one of felow bloggers, and you feel you have to reply (here, I might add- I've never posted there!). It's not that it really bothers me what they say about me, but just that it is usually spiteful, and I feel I have to stick up for myslelf! They have again mentioned about IP addresses and it is beyond creepy.

With regards to the DNA, the FSS gave 15 markers that matched Maddie's DNA from the samples taken. When Docmac is back (and he will be Poops, as Viv has not fallen out with him), he will be able to explain how likely those results are to be Maddie's.

What is more unusual, is the absence of any forensics from an abducter. Neither on the windowsil, patio doors, cuddle cat or Madeleine's bed which can only leave the outcome as having come from an alien ;-) All human beings leave DNA behind in some form, and fibres etc from clothing. All very strange!

Off out to meet with some of my friends. Have a good eve, all.

Hi Viv

I know everyone on 3A's is denying a plane left PDL on the night Maddie went missing but I remember it very clearly. A man and his teenage child left via a private plane.

Now who would that be? There are many on 3A's trying to discredit this information but I remember it clearly, hubby who is not the least bit interested, also remembers as well. Believe me that says it all to me.

Who left on a private plane and why?

Hi Viv and all. Had a nice eve. Nice pub, nice friends, no alcohol. Don't need it and better off without it. I am so glad that I had you guys when my life fell apart last summer and you didn't judge me like Poops and Co do on a daily basis, otherwise I would not have been here to blog anymore as I was verging on suicidal at the time. Thanks again, I am glad that there are people who care here enough to forgive, unlike the purple hell-hole! Since then, I have built up a circle of close friends and have learned to help myself through them and my doctor. I had had a hell of a time and even my mother thought she was going to lose me. Shame on people who have to constantly slag off those that are in trouble.

I would just like to make it known that Viv, Docmac, Hope and Nancy made life that little bit easier for me, enough to make a difference between my kids having a mum or not. It really was that bad. I know it is only a blog, but it helps and it may have just saved me. xxxx

Yours, thankfully,

Jackie

Jackie, thanks for your lovely post, I just do not know what else to say other than we are just normal decent people on here, who care and do not need to mock others.

They even went on about my swollen ankle on holiday complete with large scar from surgery, I would hate to be like them!

But thanks for this "Rosie" - and your little troll on 3 As got anhilated, what a shame eh! I will keep standing up for justice for maddie and there is absolutely nothing you can do to stop me or other decent people who do just the same.

"One point though, why on earth would witnesses have counted that there were 10 people in that party? When I am out and there is a large crowd I don't sit around counting them and if something happened and someone asked me how many of them were sat at their table, I would say I don't know, I didn't count them, why? should I have done?

Viv you get more pathetic and stupid every day. NO ROSIE I GET CLOSER EVERY DAY TO JUST WHAT YOUR "FAMILY" DID WITH LITTLE MADDIE AND IF I CAN GET CLOSE, IMAGINE WHAT THE POLICE CAN DO, TOUGH!

Hiya Viv,

You are welcome :-) I just wanted everbody to know what these people are like who claim that they are there for M and her family. They have never stopped laughing at me for my very public breakdown and they don't seem to care that it could have destroyed me, in fact they continue to perpetuate it. I have just said to Nancy in an email that we may write "Bum" or "Poops", but that is just silly rhyming and in no way intimates anything about their size, weight, creed or IQ. I just don't understand why they have to be so nasty and cruel and what they said about your ankle is plain wickedness. If they are grown-ups, they should be ashamed.

I am very glad that you continue to fight for justice for MM because this is why I came here in the first place. IMO, purple blog serves no purpose other than to feed off of other people's misfortunes. Madeliene included.

Keep it up, Viv!

Hi all,

Dylan,

Well said!

They should do something productive with their time. Like collect the hazelnuts from the cute little squirrels that visit them, then package them off to M3 to analsye. That way M3 won't have to rely on the Internet for info regarding nuts!

.....lol!! :-)

BTW, I meant all of you last night, but only mentioned those that I have email contact with because they helped me away from this blog. They didn't have to but they did and I am grateful for their help. Would it be OK to ask Viv for your addy?

Have a good day all. xx

Di, I enlisted the help of others on 3 Arguidos in looking at that NOW photo and one has pointed out that "boy" is Rachel Oldfield and I certainly agree. It was worth having a look at but clearly does not take us any further forward on that one!

The poster also pointed out the child on ROB's lap looks just like Maddie and it does, but I do not think it is her, I think it is his little girl of the same age.

Di/Nancy,

'Glad you enjoyed CDWM. Monet made me laugh, taking a bottle of wine which she would ask to be opened if she did not like what was provided, surely a kind guest would accept whatever was provided.'

Di, did you see the one where the host provided Lambrini as the wine! Maybe Monet saw that one!

I Sky+ CDWM over the festive holiday season begeez lots of episodes! My daughter and I watched them off and on and enjoyed them. Although some of the folks I wonder where they got them from to take part! Di such as a grown man sitting in the host's back garden crying because he felt the others in the group were more interested in another stronger member and he felt invisible, FFS! I have continued to Sky+ the prog and watch it when my husband is working in the evening or weekend. Although I make sure it is Sky+'d in a room away from the keyboard because when he is typing away it is like Michael Flatley and his dance troupe is performing Riverdance in the background. I am sure he uses hammers to type!

Hi all

Viv

Thanks for pointing that out I have just had another look and yes it is RO, oh well back to the drawing board.

Zodiac

I did not see the episode of CDWM where the man was crying, some do take it so seriously. Did you see the episdoe where the host disappeared upstairs for a nap and the guests had to continue with the cooking. What made it funnier was she could not understand why she came last as she thought the evening had gone really well.

Lambrini, nothing like pushing the boat out LOL

nancy said...

Hi Di

I agree with you about the girl who took a good bottle of wine along on CDWM and then asked for it to be opened. What a nerve and what bad manners! Then to make it worse, a bottle of red was spilled all over the immaculate settee. That poor lawyer, what with the over breaking down - I think she deserves to win because if it had been me I would have gone to pieces!! Can't wait for tonight's episode!

How misleading is that article?

nancy said...

Hi Zodiac -

I missed the one where the chap broke down and cried! I must take my hat off to those people who do the cooking - do they actually write in and offer to do it? I'm quite happy cooking for a couple of guests, but no way could I do it in front of a television crew! I expect they eat the leftovers if there are any! And Lambrini! Give me a good bottle of Rioja any day!

Di,

Di,

I think the one you mention with the woman snoring upstairs is the same group of people where the guy is greetin that he feels he would be better off not being there cos he felt invisible. Now Di you will have him greetin again cos you did not notice him either but you did notice the woman (snorin upstairs) he was jealous of! She drove a yellow sports car and snored really loud. The guy that won had a Hollywood scene dinner in his garden and also joked he had plastic plants in amongst real one. Was it that show?

Did anyone read the statement by an ex-cleaner of the McCanns, on 3A's, name of AMANDA COXON. She became a close friend and has nothing but good to say about them. Mind you it was years ago, and people can change markedly over the years, which the McCanns seem to have done, because they were very protective of Madeleine in those days, - circa 2000.

Di said...

I think it was the week before last the new series 5. I did miss two nights though so it could have been the same one.

Hi Nancy

I am glad you are enjoying it. I presume they must write in, I must admit I wouldn't like to do it even though I really enjoy cooking.

dylan said...

Hi all,

Nancy, I am sure that the McCanns were truly loving parents at one point. I wonder what changed in the meantime? Before the Maddie case, I had considered going abroad with my children for a holiday, but I remember being dubious about leaving them in a creche with people that i didn't know, and discarded the idea. Back in 2004, I took my two eldest to a lovely harbour town in Ireland. We did everything together and on the last day we opted to go kayaking. It was with an outward bound school and I had every faith in them. Alas, I ended up terrified for Xxxxx because it was open sea kayaking. I was struggling to keep the kayak on the water and so was Xxxx, but L was in such a mess with it, she had to be rescued! Still, we can look back upon it now and see it as an experience, and one which I will never regret, as we stuck together and made us stronger!

Di, my best freind was on Britain's best dish. She made a yummy chocolate mousse cake which only just lost out to the other dessert. She was really nervous but i was so proud of her as she came across really well. :-)

xx

Di said...

Hi Dyl

That sounded really scary, my nephew does stunt kayaking here and abroad. Some of the videos I have seen are unbelievabley dangerous, he just has no fear.

That chocolate mousse cake sounds delicious.

dylan said...

Hi Di,

I think I was more scared for my daughter than she was. Since then, she has gone on to do difficult scrambling on some of N Wales' scariest peaks, rock climbing and a 40ft cliff jump. All under expert supervision, of course. I think she gets her tom boy side from me, but I prefer to do these things myself than to watch her and bite my lip!

My friend who was on Britain's best dish is here with me tonight. She said that although it was really nervy cooking on TV, it was great fun too. Jilly Goulden was one of the judges and she said it was a really grown up chocolate cake. I can vouch for it, it was delicious! She is my youngest's god mother and has brought over chocolate cake, flake chocolate bars, chocolate buttons and icing, with which my daughter and her friend have made a fantastic hedgehog cake :-) We are so lucky to have her!

xx

dylan said...

PS. Your nephew is really brave. I wish I was good at kayaking as I love it but I'm only good on calm waters!

xx

Di said...

Hi Dyl

You would not even get me on calm waters LOL, I love swimming but that is it.

When we go to our holiday home we watch the extreme sports on the sea with kites, mad the lot of them, we have seen so many accidents. I like firm ground beneath my feet.

Jilly Goulden, it smells of almonds with a zing of! She is great, well done your friend and enjoy your evening.

PS. My nephew is a nutcase as we all keep telling him, he takes too many risks but there is no stopping him, the thrill I suppose.

Dylan -

I'm sure you and the children are strong swimmers, but you were very brave to kayak - I couldn't imagine doing that! We have to face dangers sometimes in life I'm sure - as they say "character building"!
----------------------------------
I would say that the McCann's have changed beyond all recognition from how they were when the cleaner friend knew them.

I am sure they are covering up a fatal accident to Maddie and that they already know she won't be coming back.

If, by any chance, she does reappear, that would be absolutely wonderful, but then I would never believe they didn't know all along, because they have never acted like a couple grieving over a lost child. And I'm not alone in thinking that - it's been said many times by many people.

What I do know is they, and others, including CM, and the tapas pals with their libel award, have cashed in on Maddie's disappearance which is unforgivable. Last year, for instance, they were planning all sorts of events well in advance, whereas if she was alive and well out there with a paedophile, as they seem to think, she could have shown up any day.

I think they are involved in a cover up with a few of the tapas pals, if not all. They have had so much help from one man in particulr who I believe has his own hidden agenda, namely Brian Kennedy, who in my opinion is more involved with Metodo 3 than he has ever admitted.

I can imagine that many families who have lost a child in this way must feel particularly aggrieved at the assistance from people with clout that the McCanns have had.
-----------------------------------

Changing the subject Dillie. Is it as cold where you are as it is here - it's cold enough for more snow I'm sure.

We are off out this evening, whereas I would just love to curl up on the sofa and keep warm! However, I'm sure we'll enjoy a nice meal and wine!

See you all tomorrow!

Mystery Accounts: Where is the McCann’s Money?

The McCann accounts continue to be a mystery, but so does the Madeleine Fund. Of the money received only 13,3 % was spent in investigation and searches for Madeleine.

by Hernâni Carvalho

A document that tvmais had accesses reveals that up to the 31st of March of 2008 the Find Madeleine Fund received 2.819.403,00 Euros. Of this amount only 13,3% [375,000 Euros] was spent in searches and investigations (including private detectives). The Find Madeleine Fund was created [15 May 2007] with the objective of helping to find (sponsoring the searches) the ‘kidnapped’ girl and to deliver the abductors to justice. In the case of being proved that Madeleine was dead, the money would no longer be accessible to the McCanns.

The donations arrived to the Fund in various ways: 2.085.540,00 Euros were the donations received in the bank; 587.610,00 were received via Internet and 96,.117,00 Euros was the profit gained in the On Line Shop. This amount is increased by the interest rate of 50.136,00 Euros, which makes a total sum of 2.819.403,00 Euros.

In an analyses made to the accounts presented by the fund relative to the 31st of March 2008 (see box) soon we realize that in the area of publicizing [the posters which never appeared] and searches (of Madeleine) only 17,66% was spent of the money received. That is less than 500.000 Euros.

The profits of the On Line Shop are of 96.117,00 Euros; however the shop itself costed 167. 283,00 Euros in legal expenditures.

The fund has seven directors, but only two remain since the beginning.

The 'unveiling' of the fund accounts to which the tvmais had access is registered at the Companies House with the code number X5NBF0CR

Hi Di! Good to see I'm not the only confused one:-)

McCannfiles has this on the news-page:

The McCanns views on leaving their 3 children alone, to fend for themselves, in a dark and strange apartment

Gerry McCann

"It's difficult because if you are [at home] cutting grass in the back with the mower, and that takes me about half an hour, and the children are upstairs in a bedroom, you'd never bat an eyelid. That's similar to how we felt."

Timesonline 04 September 2007

Kate McCann

"If I put the children in the car the chances of having an accident would be greater than somebody coming in, breaking into your apartment and lifting a child out of her bed. But you never think, I shouldn't put the children in the car."

Timesonline 04 September 2007

---

I for one can't forgive myself for this: One New-years-eve when my youngest was 10mnths old, I was with the rest of the family on the balcony to see the fire-works one floor above the bedroom where the baby was a sleep. As the first BANG goes of (and of course continiue without stop), I went in to see if the baby woke up. The terrified crying I heard from the HALLWAY...!!! Out of fear he had managed to jump/fall out of his cot! Still I can not understand where the baby got such a power from.... Thanks God he did not break his neck!!!

My son had an operation in his ear today and I am trying to catch up. Who is Michael Wright again ?

In terms of the private plane it was shown on the news either the very next day or just after that a private plane left that night and it was being investigated. I remember it well because it seemed a significant point.

Who is Michael Wright? I await Viv for an update.

So glad you remember the private plane leaving that night, as I do and hubby as well. No mention since, so we are talking of someone who either should not have been there, or something happened and the person was spirited away very quickly.

Evening All,

This is a reply from findmadeleine.com to pamalam regarding the reward. It is their explanation from Sandy Cameron as to why they do not promote the reward.

Subject: RE: Reward

Dear Sir/Madam,

In answer to your questions:

As far as I know the rewards offered by the ‘News Of The World’
and other benefactors are still available.

However, we have had varying advice about the possible benefits
and problems of rewards.
So after consultation, a decision was made not to push the rewards
on our website - although the situation is constantly being reviewed.

In the meantime, if anyone has any information that may help our
Investigation Team, they should contact:

Hi all,

Nancy, it is freezing here still but I hear that we are not in for more snow. Such a pity as littlun has been ill and I wanted to take her to a nearby hill to mess about with our makeshift sled now she is better.

BT, hope your son is better soon.

Thanks for the link another intresting site had not seen it before no wonder they are not looking so happy these days 13% spent on searching they really are the scum of the earth how the hell can they sleep at night first they neglect her then say she is missing then refuse to help then scam a load of cash and spend just 13% searching for her...

One question why dont any of the family give a damn about Madeleine bloody Aunt Phil was gobby enough in the beginging would sell her house to find her but isnt stomping because there is well over a million left and hardly anything has been used to search...

Sick the bloody lot of them,,,

I am still trying to find out who owns this site, any help!

I have no idea who owns it but have been reading and it is very intresting....

I thought when the fund was audited it would show what a farce it all was....

Sadly people forgive neglect and give them the benefit of the doubt but no one likes to be scammed...

How will people explaine this to children who thought they were helping a small child not paying for lawyers and family members salary???
