MCCANN STATEMENTS LEAKED BY M3, NOT PJ!

Hi All

I though today I would have a look at how the latest McCann campaign (forgive me) is being played out.

Firstly, as the article below confirms the statements that were leaked of both Kate and Gerry McCann were actually those given to their private investigators, Metado 3. It has been categorically confirmed they were not police statements from the official investigation.

So, the reality is quite shocking. On the very same day the McCanns headed to Brussels they also cynically leaked statements themselves in an attempt to discredit the PJ so they would have an excuse to avoid the reconstruction they had been asked to attend as the PJ's were arriving in UK to further investigate their fellow conspirators.

Is this what they call desperately seeking Madeleine and co-operating with the Police? Just like the lie detector test, we hear how they will co-operate but when they get the chance to do so, they run a mile (next Easyjet flight please and an immediate home visit from a very expensive extradition lawyer). There is no question here of an innocent couple wanting to clear their name either, is there?

Emphasis is very much being placed on Kate in all the latest spin. Why could this be? Two thoughts spring to mind, the most obvious being if it is clearly put into the public domain that Kate herself is being treated harshly and unfairly by the PJ, it is calculated this is far more likely to engender public sympathy than Gerry McCann.

Dumb Clarence Mitchell, on behalf of the increasingly desperate Kate and Gerry seriously believes he has come up with another cunning plan. First, they leak a statement where Kate is openly admitting serious negligence, then we are told this is what she will be prosecuted for. Clarence must believe we are just a load of old sponges. When leaking the statement of course it opens up the way again for an "abduction" and of course the leaker, very conveniently located, in Spain, tells us this " proves they are innocent". In short more of what they have been trying to tell us from day one. Yes we neglected our children and that is why Madeleine got abducted..

It has probably been cynically accepted the public like Gerry less still. At the same time as the leaked statements, we were also told by "friends" how "emotionally fragile" Kate is. She is unwell, she in vulnerable, why are the wicked PJ just picking on her? This, I believe, is the impression they seek to give. The other possibility of course is that Gerry, ever the manipulator, seeks to distance himself still further from accepting any personal responsibility.

Kate joins this circus and allows herself to be used, is she really so weak and fragile? Why does she not just do the decent thing, go to the police and tell the truth? Does she really care what the public think about her? It would seem not, the only thing she cares about is trying to avoid prosecution.

Continuing with the let's get sympathy for Kate theme, in the most lying rag, I think that graces the Sunday press in UK, and featured on Rosie's blog, although just for a change admitting it came from "The People", (because he/she has learned I would point that out!) on Sunday 20 April, tell us the perverse tale that PJ have no evidence to proceed with more serious charges and are therefore set to prosecute Kate, alone, for child neglect/abandonment (we lost but we will get them for something).

Not only is it too late for the PJ to prosecute her for this, there being a 6 month period when they must bring charges, and let's face it, they were not lacking in evidence, why on earth would they just prosecute Kate? From a legal point of view this is utterly perverse, both parents took the decision to keep walking out the door and leaving those children. Then of course, what of the remaining TAPAS who did just the same? The truth is from a legal point of view, the PJ had to investigate the whole case and then bring appropriate charges at the end of that process. There is no way, in law, they could have just prosecuted them for negligence and then proceeded to prosecute again for something far more serious arising from that negligence e.g. sedating their children so they could go out and leave them. If that is what happened, that is not neglect it is manslaughter or maybe even murder.

This same story, that Kate is to be prosecuted for neglect/child endangerment is then repeated in 24 Horas, a Portuguese newspaper, but one, as I have often reported clearly linked to American media, and often printing the rubbish that Clarence Mitchell gives them to print, in fairness, among other things.

What utter rubbish! Madeleine was not just neglected, she died, the parents are responsible for that and wickedly disposing of her body and that is what they are being investigated for and what they will be charged with. Quite posssibly also, very serious fraud.

I am sure we all recall, Detective Superintendent Prior of Leicestershire Police actually specialises in fraud. What is more, within about 10 days of Madeleine going missing the UK Serious Organised Crime Agency were called in by Portuguese Police to assist in the investigation. Senior UK detectives also immediately flew out to Portugal and have been involved ever since.

So much for Portugal, apparently, not asking for help! They have always wanted our help, and it has always been given. That is only natural when it is two British subjects, not without considerable means and intellect who even at that early stage it was obviously quite apparent, may well be involved in the disappearance of their own little child.

Remember the ridiculous lies they immediately told to the two Portuguese GNR officers who were first at the scene. They were utterly bemused to be told that a "predator" (pick the most sinister sounding word Gerry) had damaged the shutters, jemmied the window and stolen Madeleine. The reasons for their bemusement being quite obvious, absolutely no evidence whatsoever of any such break in. Silly Gerry had been glued to his mobile for two hours, telling all his friends and family just the same thing and of course Philomena gave Sky News a scoop for which they have always demonstrated their gratitude.

It is high time Kate and Gerry McCann stopped their sickening campaign and faced the reality of their situation. Sensible people the world over are not convinced by their self-serving propaganda or the "evidence" of their friends.

Jane Tanner, has simply made herself a laughing stock with her constanly changing bizarre tales. Initially describing a man of the same age, height and build and even clothing of Gerry McCann himself. Very interesting indeed. We have seen the pic of Gerry sitting on a sofa giving one of their many interviews wearing that dark jacket and beige trousers, but of course in later accounts he not only changed direction to head directly for Robert Murat's villa, he later even developed a face and grew long hair, he became a bizarre looking swarthy Moroccan with huge teeth, but immediately after the event, she could not put a face to this mystery predator. You could not make this stuff up unless your name was Jane Tanner and someone was pulling your strings who maybe knew some witness spotted him.

As we were recently reliably told from Portugal, justice will soon bring its results, no matter who it hurts.

We know that and I would just say one thing to Clarence Mitchell, Kate and Gerry McCann, they gave you the rope, you used it. We find your conduct repulsive. If PJ do actually sue Clarence Mitchell, it just serves him right and the Daily Mail too, who ran the most sickening story, also on Sunday 20 April.

Finally, it has been reported Robert Murat may get about £2M in libel damages from UK press who have joined the sickening campaign against him and the Portuguese Police. Good luck to you Robert and decent people in the UK understand what you have been through and think you deserve every penny. If the press want to print false propaganda then there is clearly a price to pay for that.

PJ of Portimão takes legal action against McCann’s spokesmanControversy: Kate's statement to detectivesThe declarations of Kate McCann remembering a conversation with her daughter Maddie, on the day in which she disappeared, on the fact that in the previous night Kate left the girl crying in the bedroom are not in the official process secured by the Judiciary Police, established the CM. They were reproduced by the Spanish TV channel Telecinco, the journalist Nacho Abad says to have proofs that they are true - but in fact, they are accounts given by Kate to private detectives. The process continues in secrecy of justice, but, 'on the day that the process is opened to the public, it will be easy to prove that those declarations are not there ', said a source close to the investigations. Therefore, this leak of information could never have appeared from inside the Judiciary Police.'On the day in which this situation is clarified accurately ', Clarence Mitchell will be the target of a process for the damages caused against the image of the elements of the Department of Criminal Investigation of Portimão, after they had been 'unfairly accused' by the McCann’s spokesman of passing informations that are part of the process to the Media.Besides, the British police also know that Kate's declarations, about her difficult relationship with the daughter, are not in the process. When the Spanish TV channel reproduced them a PJ’s team was in Leicester, in the period in which the McCann’s friends were heard, and the English authorities confirmed to be Kate's account to the private investigators. It is a company that worked for the couple before the Metódo3 agency and, in the end, they printed a report where these sentences are in. According to our sources, only three parts kept copies of these documents: the company, the McCanns and the British authorities. The problems with the international press do not end here, yesterday, it was the Telegraph turn to advance 'declarations' from Guilhermino Encarnação, where after a meeting with the Public Prosecutor, he would have said that ‘The investigation will bring its results, whoever they hurt', a source close to the responsible of the Faro's PJ guarantees to the CM that none of this is true.DETAILSASFIC SUPPORTS PROCESSContacted by the 'CM', the president of the Criminal Investigation Officers' Union, Carlos Anjos, guarantees to be available for the whole legal support that the investigators of Portimão need if they understand to sue the McCann’s spokesman Clarence Mitchell, McCann, for damages against the image of the department.RE-ENACTMENTCarlos Anjos believes that the controversy created around Kate's declarations, with accusations to the PJ for the eventual leak of information which damages the couple credibility, 'is nothing more than a stratagem in order that they do not have to collaborate with the Portuguese justice'. In question there is a re-enactment of the crime, requested by the PJ but that, according to the couple’s spokesman, will only happen if they stop being arguidos.Source: Correio da Manhã

Viv, don't think Brown is much involved. From memory, he seemed to extract himself graciously (which means under blanket of excuses) a while ago. There is much we don't know which i think he knew & so removed himself.

Doc - wrt your telly: I hope you have prescribed it a good night's rest and given it a cuddle in your best bedside manner ;)

Hi Viv,
I found this from the 24 Horas paper posted by Li on the 3 Arguidos. Interesting if true.... The PJ is still waiting the for the transactions made with credit cards

Phone calls analysed with magnifying glass

Only now the PJ received the list of the phone calls made by Maddie's parents and friends. The registers of three persons are still missing.

Text Carlos Tomás

"Drop by drop". This is the way how a responsible connected to the investigations on the disappearance of Madeleine McCann describes the way that the data of the phone calls made by the parents and friends on that day arrive to the PJ. The registers were asked more than six months ago to the British but only now they begin to arrive. "The British authorities already send us several invoices of phone calls made by the group, included the McCanns, but there are still some registers missing", said the same source. We discovered that the missing data are from three friends of the McCanns and that is the reason why the complete analysis cannot be made. "Everything is being duly analysed but the crossing of the data means that we have to get the missing calls. Without them is impossible to reach any conclusion because two of the persons involved in the process are fundamental to the investigation", the source explained.
An investigator that was connected to the case in its initial phase said that "since the first hour the investigations came up against bureaucratic problems".
"An investigation in a case like this must be quick. But when we tried to obtain evidence we were confronted with incredible bureaucracy. An urgent rogatory letter took more than five months to be authorised", he added.
To cross phone data is now a team task directed by the director Guilhermino Encarnação and by the coordinator Paulo Rebelo.

Police and banks in silence

But apart from the phone calls the public prosecutor Magalhães e Menezes still waits the register of the bank transactions made by all people that dinned in the Tapas Bar.
The objective is to know where the arguidos and the main witnesses were in the day the child disappeared.
"Although that request was made informally to the British police more than seven months ago and officially requested afterwards in the rogatory letter ( five months ago) the truth is that we did not have yet any reply", said to the 24 Horas a police source. Officially Encarnação and Paulo Rebelo are laconic about the case. None of them say anything because the process "is in secret of justice".

Morning all...

Does anyone know how to get a message to someone at McCannfiles?

I am interested to know if in their section under Panorama, they copied this from another source or have they transcribed it themselves?

The reason being, at the point Tanner was asked how the child was being carried, she said "I was carrying", in the transcript it says she said "He was carrying", which is incorrect.

As this statement is quite paramount, I am surprised McCannfiles did not correctly print what she actually said, and this must be an oversight??

Some questions have been raised on a blog where I am not welcome, no matter how polite I may be. I'll have a bash at answering them here then.

It Was said that Paulo Rebelo returned to Portugal early to discover who was behind the leaks
Correct.

So who was? Does Rebelo know yet?
Metodo3. Yes, even the pool man knows.

Doesn't look as if he discovered much as the PJ have been leaking daily since Rebelo returned
Are you suggesting that PJ officers suffer some form of collective urological disorder? This is illegal and possibly libellous.

Still the way this investigation has been managed, why would we expect Paulo Rebelo to detect who is behind these leaks?
Because he is bloody good at his job and does not spend his days reading The Sun, The People or NOTW?

Seems the PJ couldn't detect a gas leak with a naked flame!
They are much too clever to do this. They'd use you to do it for them.

Who leaked that Jane Tanner had changed her statement?
ABC, BBC, CBC, SABC, all the other BCs, CNN, AFP, SAPA, Reuters, NYT, The Times, Telegraph, Guardian, LiveLeak, thesmokinggun, five British tourists and Jane Tanner.

This leak came before Rebelo had scared customs officers with his passport photo on his return to Portugal.
Are you suggesting that those customs officials are afraid of him because they too are child neglecters (yes, this IS a real word)? This is libellous.

Does the P in PJ stand for 'Police' or 'Plumbers'?
'Policia', as in 'Leona'. In your lexicon: 'Policior' as in 'Leonor'.

Who told Portuguese gutter press 24 Horas that the friends had demanded a private jet?
Clarence Mitchell?

When does the Portuguese government intend to do something about the lack lustre performance of the PJ?
Your lacklustre use of grammar is what lacks lustre.

When is there going to be a full and open public inquiry into the Portuguese police handling of this investigation?
This must be a misprint. I feel you may have meant to ask when the Tapas9 are going to make full and frank confessions.

The article in 24 Horas if true is at odds IMO with what people have been saying over recent days that the case was being investigated by British Police and PJ and maybe even SOCA. Why then if Horas 24 is correct are registers of 3 of the Tapas missing, added to this also the banking details that are required. Will this information be provided or will it go missing, and funny how its the crucial telephone registers according to Horas 24. No wonder the Tapas lot feel so sure of themselves, it looks like they are being protected. Why has Horas 24 got this story and not the British Press?

Hi all, hope you're fine,

I haven't had anything to say re this case the last couple of days and therefore haven't "had my say" on any blog either. I have been thinking on where I stand and what I believe and as usual I've come up blank.

I know why I find it hard to say that the McCanns are guilty (apart from the idea of “innocent until proven guilty”). Many of the theories that have circulated here and elsewhere are way too much of conspiracy theories for my taste, and frankly I think many of them give too much credit to the involved persons intelligence as well as political influence. I have yet to see an idea that (for me) sums the events up in a credible way – not too complicated, not too much involvement from “outsiders”.

However, this doesn’t mean that I don’t see the inconsistencies in their statements and I got to think of a small (or rather long actually) summation I did some months ago where I wrote why I think the McCanns may be guilty. There are probably lots of other points that can be made and some of my points may have become obsolete. Anyway here we go again, why I think the McCanns may be guilty:

1) Responsible parents don’t leave their children alone night after night in a strange apartment in a foreign country
2) (Ir)responsible parents who despite 1. do that don’t leave the door unlocked (they wouldn’t do it out of fear for money and jewellery being stolen and much less for the children’s sake)
3) Those same parents would never do 1. and 2. if they felt that they were being watched or targeted
4) The fact that they night after night managed to get the children in bed and fast asleep at such an early hour – a feat we’ve never succeeded with and especially not on holiday
5) The Tapas 9 claims to have checked on the children every half hour – yet hotel/Tapas bar staff is saying that noone left the table before Kate went to check and found Madeleine missing (then I’m being “nice” and disregarding the “fact” that it allegedly was the first time a woman checked that week). This doesn’t exclude that someone did leave the table, but I’m quite sure the check-ups weren’t as frequent as Tapas9 would like us to believe
6) The twins staying asleep through all the commotion (once again being “nice” and disregarding “They’ve taken her”, the invasion by friends and sundry on the “crime scene” as well as the late phone call to the police)
7) The parents NOT wanting the twins to be examined – despite the parents suspicions that Madeleine had been drugged since she didn’t scream. Why not suspect that the “abductor” drugged the twins as well? And who could possibly know what drugs had been used ...
8) Dr O’Brien’s absence from the table due to his child being sick (he apparently claims to have asked for new sheets but none of the staff remember it). As a doctor he would know that you’re never supposed to leave a sick child alone. Yet he did. This doesn’t seem credible to me.
9) His partner Jane Tanner, who (if we are to believe the staff never left the table) saw “bundleman” carrying a child in one direction. This direction was later altered to the very opposite direction. How credible is that? And why did she change her original statement?
10) And then finally, the McCanns’ behaviour after Madeleine’s disappearance:
A. They did not themselves join the search for their daughter, could be due to chock but if so they wouldn’t
B. Take up jogging immediately
C. Play tennis just a few days after the disappearance
D. Get hair done
E. Buy new things, like clothes and jewellery
F. Show virtually no emotions in public until they
G. Look like “happy couple”, all big smiles, after memorial service on Madeleine’s fourth birthday
H. And I can’t imagine any grieving parent wanting to wash the missing child’s favourite toy, Cuddle Cat, not once but according to rumours twice

Of all those reasons for suspicion I personally find numbers 2 and 10H the hardest to overlook. I honestly can’t see any person from a Western country deliberately leaving apartment doors unlocked while on vacation and the point with washing Cuddle Cat is even harder to find an innocent explanation for.

But, then again, I’ve said it many times before and I say it again, it might just be that:
I simply don’t understand them ...

From today's Mail:-

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=561420&in_page_id=1770

Kate McCann today appears to criticise holiday company Mark Warner over her daughter's disappearance in a new TV documentary.

A tearful Mrs McCann says she wanted to employ a baby-listening service for Madeleine but none was available at the resort in Praia da Luz on the Algarve.

Instead, Mrs McCann chose to check on her daughter every 30 minutes — but the three-year-old vanished while her mother and father Gerry were dining at a nearby tapas bar.

In raising the absence of a monitoring service, Mrs McCann, 40, appears to blame Mark Warner, the company that specialises in family holidays.

The two-hour documentary is on ITV next Wednesday. According to a television insider, Mrs McCann is understood to say: “Of course we wanted to use a baby listening service but there wasn't one at the Ocean Club.”

One source close to the documentary makers added: “She is very emotional. She breaks down on camera at different pointsduring the filming. It clearly shows her as a caring mother who misses her daughter very much.

This is a woman grieving and is clearly more emotional than she has ever been.”

The McCanns are convinced their daughter was abducted
Sources point out that the McCanns, while questioning Mark Warner's lack of a listening service, lay the main blame with the kidnapper.

Mr and Mrs McCann, both doctors from Rothley in Leicestershire, are convinced their daughter was abducted, although Portuguese detectives have made them official suspects in the investigation.

Mark Warner has accepted no listening service was available at its Praia da Luz resort — unlike its other holiday complexes — but has pointed out the couple could have hired a nanny to sit in with the children instead. The couple chose not to use that service.

The source close to the documentary makers said today: “The McCanns said they would have used the listening service had it been available. But they also felt their checks every 25 minutes were just as effective.”

The fly-on-the-wall documentary will be screened at 8pm next Wednesday days before the first anniversary of Madeleine's disappearance on 3 May last year.

An ITV film crew followed the couple for almost two months as they campaigned for a Europe-wide alert system for when a child goes missing.

It also shows them travelling to the US, where they meet Ed Smart, whose daughter Elizabeth, 14, was kidnapped in 2002 from her bedroom in Salt Lake City and found nine months later. Mr Smart tells the couple not to give up the search for Madeleine.

The source close to ITV said: “The film shows a family going through an awful ordeal, trying to find their daughter and doing their best to get her back.”

Emma Loach, director of the documentary and daughter of film-maker Ken Loach, is understood to be convinced of the couple's innocence.

A Mark Warner spokesman said it had been contacted by the film-makers. He said the Ocean Club had never had a listening service at Praia da Luz because the resort was too spread out across the village. Instead parents could use a drop-in creche.

It's the first I heard of his retirement. I must have missed this news before. I thought there were rumours of him returning to the Madeleine case.

Many of those aspects you mention contributed to my opinion about them.

Hi Swedishmum

You know I don't believe the abduction story for a moment. Nevertheless, this mad mother is still admitting that her kids were not worth a tenner. That's why she and her obnoxious husband are worthless and totally undeserving of pity in my view. I'm hardcore anti, unlike you, and I hope they never rest peacefully again, in or out of prison.

docmac said...

LGC I just called you Swedishmum! It must be the emigre thing coddling my thought processes!

Cláudia said...

So, it never crossed their minds that they should have, in fact, cared for their children and stay with them... No listening service available (and you all know what I think of this pathetic method) let's just abandon them and go for drinks and food. I agree with you Doc, I wish they can never be free again: in or out.

docmac said...

I'm fooked, like Gerry McCann. I'm seeing double trouble. It was both of you! I need a wake up pill.

SwedishMum said...

Claudia, great to see you too.

Initially I was just horrified of what had happened and felt truly sorry for those poor parents.

But when a German (?) journalist brought up if the McCanns themselves were involved I started thinking more about the case. And the more I thought and read about it the stranger it seemed.

Add to that that a vast majority of those cases are "close to home" and it would be strange not to even reflect on the possibility that the parents or their friends may be involved.

However, none of the above make them guilty - and as I said, personally I haven't seen a really credible scenario yet and therefore I hold my judgement.

Cláudia said...

SM, I think that in Germany they never fooled anyone. Portuguese people were still crying with the McCanns (myself included) and the Germans were already telling it like it is...

SwedishMum said...

Doc,

your reply to LGC could have been for me as well. I don't think they will rest peacefully again, how could they?

ratonthebeam said...

LGC, the Mail article has been whoosh-clunked. It lasted all of 15 minutes!!! I wonder if the "documentary" will go the same way?

SwedishMum said...

Rat/LGC,

Nice that you copied and pasted it LGC!

dolores said...

LGC,
I am amazed they would even say anything about the listening service they knew was not there, before they booked with MW.they accepted a discount due to this,it does them more harm than good even to mention this.
On reflection,it might be good that she said this, as now people will question why they did not hire a babysitter or use the creche.

XX D

Joe said...

The ITV documentary next Wednesday will put everything straight for the McCanns. The Kidnapper scenario will be reinforced again, there will be tears from Kate........ but will there be any truth?

SwedishMum said...

Dolores,

Did they get a discount due to lack of listening service?
It's the first I've heard of this. I must be incredibly naïve, I didn't even know that listening services existed until this case.

docmac said...

SM, my reply was to you. Then I scrolled back up to read other posts and saw LGC's name and thought I'd gone mad. I thought it was the weather for a moment. It's so bloody hot and windless here today the road surface is bubbling.

LittleGreyCell said...

Docmac,

Oy veh! Do I look Swedish? With this nose? Are own goals catching??? ;)

I can't quite believe that ANY parent would blame a resort for not providing a listening service - which she KNEW they didn't have in the first place before she left her tiny kids alone night after night to spend jolly evenings with her lovely, equally responsible, friends.

And what good would a bl**dy listening service be in the circumstances anyway?

It's a load of rubbish, obviously, but is meant to pursue what I wrote about yesterday; the pushing of the negligence issue over any other possible crime.

Did Kate take a Hippocritic Oath, by any chance?

(Hope you like that one, ST. It was inspired by you. :) )

SwedishMum said...

Doc, thought so, the part about being "hardcore anti, unlike you" kind of gave it away.

LittleGreyCell said...

Rat/Swedish Mum,

Good heavens! Gone? That's a bit ludicrous, isn't it??

How lucky I saw it when I did. But then again, life is about being in the right place at the right time (just ask the McCanns..)

I am pretty sure MW are going to have there say about this in time, they have their reputation to protect, and they are not going to let 2 criminals and liars destroy them, as they have done to others.
But what do they care as long as they can save their own miserable a@@@s.

LGC,

Wonder if it will come back now. Someone said the other day that it seems like the papers are checking what's written on these blogs. If so, they know that the article is in the cyberworld now. (Thanks to you!)

Kate and Gerry should have been the children's listening service themselves and if they weren't prepared to take that responsibility then the least they could have done is hired a babysitter like all normal parents, which they are not, would have done. They and their friends should have thought about what they were doing in leaving their children, but decided their own pleasure came first, so I'm afraid they get no sympathy from me I'm afraid. Also we have to bear in mind that they have done damn all to help the PJ's in connection with their daughter's disappearance and that speaks volumes about them!

LittleGreyCell said...

Dolores,

I didn't know about the discount...

And what a strange thing to say - to offload your parental responsibility to a company you are not paying to look after your children in the first place!

Would it be a truck driver's fault for running over her children if she let them wander about on the M1?

Now I've heard everything (I know I'm tempting fate here...)

Joe said...

Looks like they will have to do a bit more editing with the ITV documentary, and get rid of Kates alleged comments about the listening service.

Cláudia said...

LGC, the fact that that 'service' wasn't offered in Praia da Luz is revealing. Before this case I never knew that 'service' even existed and I don't think the locals in Praia da Luz would react that well to that 'service'...

Joe ,
I would not surprise me in the least if this is edited,as they could have a libel suit against them from MW for damaging their reputation, and this time they would need to aell their house.

Holiday Firm Scraps Baby Listening

Sky News online Updated:12:31,

Wednesday April 23, 2008

The company which runs the resort where Madeleine McCann went missing has withdrawn baby listening services at all its holiday facilities.

Madeleine's mother Kate says she had wanted to employ a baby listening service at the Ocean Club in Portugal but none had been available.

.........

The company's Alex Woolfall told Sky News online: "We don't offer room listening services there, in fact we never have - it says so in our brochures.

"Ocean Club is spread out over a wide area - it's like a whole village and you couldn't go round and listen at every apartment.

"In fact we stopped offering the service at our sites altogether last year. It's important to say to our guests we can offer safety. But you can't offer parents a guarantee of safety with such a service and we didn't want them to have a false sense of security."

Mr Woolfall added: "What we do offer is drop-in creches, open in the evenings, where guests can leave their children and go out for dinner."

The McCanns' spokesman, Clarence Mitchell, denied a report that Kate McCann criticises the holiday firm in the documentary over the lack of a room listening service.

He told Sky News online: "She hasn't attacked them. It's a passing reference in a two-hour documentary. In an ideal world there would have been a listening service but that wasn't the case. She's not dwelling on this point."

Agree with all above, incredibly stupid statement from Kate. The problem is that it gives credence to one of my points above: that many of the theories of what might have happened "give too much credit to the involved persons intelligence" :-)

LittleGreyCell said...

Swedish Mum (my sister!) :)

I have no idea why these stories appear and then disappear. The thing about this one is that it is just a taster of a television programme that's already been made in collusion with the McCanns.

Perhaps Clarrie was upset the Mail didn't mention him...

Joe said...

I think Mitchell and the McCanns will have to be very careful what they say now as they want to blame everybody, even destroying the reputation of Mark Warner.

LittleGreyCell said...

Claudia,

I believe 'listening services' have been in existence for some time in this country - I remember watching a documentary about a 'holiday camp' (are you aware of these?), where employees wander around the accommodation listening out for any kids crying, whilst their parents are enjoying the on-site entertainment (which may be some distance away).

Personally, I would NEVER have left my child under such circumstances. It's complete madness.

SwedishMum said...

Let's hope ITV doesn't reedit the programme after those revealing articles. Not that it does me any good (won't be able to see it anyway)

Joe said...

Dolores,

You are right. That would hurt more than losing their daughter IMO. The ITV programme will be nothing but spin and propaganda putting them as completely innocent. If it was otherwise they would not have it screened. It will be like a Party Political broadcast.

I actually wondered, if the fund was running a bit low, whether it was a ploy to try and extract some dosh from MW out of court, a la Express Group Newspapers. Fortunately if it was a bluff, MW seem to have called it. Thank G-d somebody has finally grown enough of a spine, to stand up to those money-grubbing liars.

docmac said...

Hi LGC, I'm a putz for even thinking that you could look Swedish :-)

Regarding the listening service: yes, they received a discount. Yes, they claim they attempted to replicate this themselves. LIARS!!! Be that as it may, we can all see that all possible protective mechanisms meant bugger all to this pair of hedonists. The following, written in The Times by a PRO, David James Smith, says all I need to know about their 'responsible parenting'.

"They were first to the table at the restaurant at 8.35 and spent some minutes talking to a couple from Hertfordshire – two more tennis players – at the next table, who were eating with their young children. As they chatted, Gerry thought how lucky he was, his children asleep nearby, he and Kate free to come and enjoy some adult time at the restaurant and not have to sit with their children, as this couple were."

ratonthebeam said...

Doc, I cannot believe anyone could even THINK such a thing, let alone write it in a paper!!!!

LittleGreyCell said...

Joe,

Did you see the documentary about MW child care a couple of months ago? We discussed it on here...

...one of the resorts (not in Portugal) didn't even check the passports of the young women it employed as carers, so they obviously weren't bothered if the person was actually who they were claiming to be, let alolne what qualifications they had.

Their reputation is thus already shot.

dolores said...

Ooops I got tongue tied there :)

Cláudia said...

LGC, I am not familiar with holiday places in Portugal who are used by a majority of foreign people, like MW so I can't comment. Personally, I had never heard of that kind of service, nor have my family and friends. To be honest, for the huge majority of Portuguese people the idea of that service and the idea of using it is just unbelievable. During the first months after Madeleine disappeared, people here were still trying to understand why those children were alone because it was someting unheard of. And we still don't understand.

SwedishMum said...

Doc/Rat,

when we're travelling and out eating, I usually look at my kids and think how blessed we are to have such lovely (and at times well-behaved) kids. But then they have been travelling and eating WITH us virtually since they were newborns.

nancy said...

Joe -

You hit the nail right on the head! Why has the Daily Mail article disappeared into cyberspace again today It's obvious to anyone with half a brain that someone with clout, no doubt in cahoots with CM, is preventing the press freedom of speech here. Whoever is putting the silencers on the press must think the public are absolute imbeciles not to notice what is going on!

The very same people will make very sure that the McCanns are allowed 2hours airtime on television at the end of this month, (their acting talents must be perfected by now with all their personal appearances)- that programme wont be hurtled off into thin air you can be certain of that! I have no doubt that there are people behind the scenes who are going to make damn sure that the McCanns and friends will sail off into the sunset pretty soon with their flawless characters intact. That's if they have their way of course, but the PJ's might just pull something out of the bag to snare them all yet!!

I agree wholeheartedly with Docmac - I don't feel one iota of sympathy for the McCanns because they coldheartedly left their little girl crying in bed together with her even smaller brother and sister! My sentiments and feelings are with that little girl whose life suddenly disintegrated. Parents who neglect their children deserve only utter contempt! They deserve no pity in my opinion!

I'm sorry if I sound hard hearted, but I have to say what I feel or else I'm just a hypocrite!

Cláudia said...

Doc, don't worry, now that you've mentioned it, some of them will have to work double shifts! :-)

LittleGreyCell said...

Joe,

Thinking back, I think it was MW Head Office which didn't check the passports. Nor did the young women receive any training when they got to the resort they were working at. And they went their on tourist visas because this was cheaper for MW.

Joe said...

Dolores,

It is depressing that they will be given 2 hours of prime time TV to portray themselves as blameless and spin all the angles they want, yet they could not co-operate with the PJ in the least. Also if Horas 24 is to be believed the PJ have not still obtained vital phone records. IT IS JUST NOT RIGHT .

Joe said...

LGC,

At least Sky put the retort from Mark Warner online , as clearly MW are not going to be destroyed by a negligent parent who chooses to blame others than herself.

LittleGreyCell said...

Docmac (Bubbula),

If MW had told the McCanns they didn't have a service for sticking their kids in the boot of a car every night, would K&G have attempted to replicate this??

Didn't have to sit with his kids, for god's sake? Just when DID Gerry spend any time with his children? Perhaps, just like Jeremy Wilkins' partner, he wouldn't have been able to tell all the little blond girls apart...

(TO THE PROS: I know it's not a crime not to want to be with your children, but neglect IS a crime).

Joe said...

You should hear what the people on the 3As are saying about the Mcs and MW, if the pros REALLY wanted to see "abuse" they should try looking on there instead of on here!

My daughter is away at Adventure Camp with the school this week. I know she will be well looked after and will have a smashing time. She phones every night to let me know how she is getting on. I am still worried sick and missing her like crazy :-(

And actually I think there have only been one or two of them on there for a long time now. Hasn't Tulip's English improved enormously in a very short period of time?

I have given up even bothering with those those blogs now, I figure that if anything turns up there that is really important, somebody will bring it across here eventually anyway, so I am not likely to miss much.

I think even the pros are beginning to realise now that the wheels are wobbling on the McCann waggon....

That Daily Mail article is vomit inducing. What responsible parent would use a baby listening service for their precious children, whilst they were elsewhere. FFS, 2hours of vomit inducing Mac poop to be screened by ITV. Wonder if they spent as much as 2 hours with their kids during that holiday probably not (IMO) if he thought great we do not have our pain in the ar**'s at our table to spoil our night, they are tucked up safely in bed approx 100mts away outside the complex with the patio door unlocked and no adult supervision.

Hiya all

Lizzie thanks so much for this below. I think 24 Horas do a Daily Express, they print the Clarence spin but they print the truth as well..

It does explain the frustrating delays the PJ have had to face which are still ongoing. Also I can clearly understand that timelines and where they were, particularly on 3 May could be easily established by looking at calls they made and making bank withdrawals, credit card transactions etc. Therefore crucial information is being withheld by this lot almost a year later and they say the Portuguese Police are no good and they want to co-operate, what terrible lying hypocrites. It goes back to what we have always said, if they were innocent and had nothing to hide and genuinely wanted Maddie tracked, why would they hide anything at all. Innocent parents would understand they are being looked at as suspects and would immediately hand everything over to prove their innocence. If there could possibly be any doubt this surely has to confirm, not just the guilt of Kate and Gerry but also of their friends. I was also interested to read PJ wanted to know about transactions BEFORE 3 May. This suggests to me they are looking at a planned disappearance and all the dreadful connotations that throws up.

-------

Drop by drop".

I am sure, like me, you have followed the Assassin trail and been quite horrified at what you found, hence the interest of the police.

I am also quite sure, like me, it will have no impact on your exercising your right to freedom of speech.

Good for you!

LittleGreyCell said...

Rat,

I completely agree with you about the wobbling wheels and wrote as much yesterday. I think the turning point has been the PJ suing CM; what a shock this must be for the untouchable Team McEgo! This, along with the investigation of their bank accounts (nothing to worry about, McCanns, just normal proceedure for victims of an abduction), which they tried for months to block, shows that the net is indeed closing in.

What makes me laugh is the blog specifically devoted to laying into anyone discussing the case who is not a friend, relative or paid lackey of the Victims McCann. Apparently it's there to "stop the bullying"! Very interesting ethos, especially since the way they endeavour to "stop the bullying" is to make repetitive negative personal comments about each of us. (Erm, isn't this bullying, guys?). And whilst they hate everything we write, don't they spend an awful lot of their time reading it? (Hope Julia Hobsbawm's making it worth your while, folks. She's probably worth quite a bit).

Aren't we all learning an awful lot about human nature?

Hi All,

Just been reading Viv’s and Lizzie’s posts regarding the delays the pj are experiencing in obtaining bank transaction details. The more I read about this case the more I think Madeleine died on the night of May 2nd. Viv mentions “a planned disappearance” and this is clearly what could have happened on night of 3rd May imo with a staging of a disappearance to cover up for what had happened earlier. Bank transactions for the day of May 3rd might show up purchases for petrol, cleaning material, shovels, bags and might even include a pay as you go phone that could later be discarded. Perhaps more importantly all these transaction could trace their locations at anytime during the day when they made a purchase. The T9 involved here are not hot shot criminals they may well have been stupid enough to buy items by credit/debit card that just might incriminate them.

Hi All

Thanks for updating me about a further sickening article in the Daily Mail. So Kate in their own, apparently self-serving words, in NOW more emotional than she has ever been and keeps breaking down in tears. No tears for Madeleine at all in PDL, fresh make-up, hair tied up in green ribbons, carefully selected jewellery, posing in front of the church and the Pope even. But now as she faces prosecution, oh yes, I can imagine she does keep breaking down in tears more than she ever did before. Before she actually entertained the idea they were going to get away with it. Now she knows different, so she cries real tears now, for herself.

On their own account that night, they did not check Madeleine every 30 minutes but every hour, at 9.05 and 10.05 precisely. What a couple of clockwatchers..with no watches or mobiles of course as Clarence recently pointed out.

I find the comments of Mark Warner extremely sinister in that it clearly suggests the McCanns were making enquiries before they went to ensure there was no listening service. I have to say that the prospects of this being planned and deliberate become ever stronger in my own mind, but I really hope that I am wrong.

AS for suggesting they provided their own listening service due to the failure of Mark Warner to provide one, words simply fail me this is just so disgusting.

When are they going to just shut up and realise the more they say, the more disgusted the public become?

"It clearly shows her as a caring mother who misses her daughter very much. This is a woman grieving and is clearly more emotional than she has ever been."

The source added : "The McCanns said they would have used a listening service but they also felt their checks every 30 minutes were as effective."

A spokesman for Mark Warner said today that the McCanns had known there was no baby-listening service at the resort when they booked their holiday.

They were informed that the Ocean Club - unlike its other resorts - did not offer the service because accommodation is too spread out across the village of Praia da Luz. But the spokesman pointed out that there was a dropin creche available for parents in the evening.

Why did G write this on 11/06 2007 in his blog?

After returning from the beach we did the Irish version of Crimewatch-‘Crimecall’. There are a lot of Irish tourists in and around Praia da Luz and although the awareness of Madeleine’s disappearance in Ireland is extremely high, we want to ensure that everyone is aware of the appeal and we want the Irish public to come forward with photographs of people who they do not know who were in and around Praia da Luz in the 2 weeks leading up to the 3rd May. The address to upload photographs is: to www.madeleine.ceopupload.com . We have also asked for people to contact their local police if they have seen a man matching the description of the suspect carrying a child seen around the time of Madeleine’s abduction. He is 30-40 years, 1.70-1.80m (5’7”-11”), caucasian and was wearing a dark jacket, beige or mustard coloured trousers with dark shoes. No major news on the investigation front- we still believe it is just a single phone call away.

When I write on this blog and give an opinion other than state something that is a fact I try to say imo. The Mail quotes an unknown source that, is clearly giving their opinion, but fails to point this out. The reader has no idea, as we don’t know who they are, whether this opinion is of value or not. But without a thought they publish this story and sell their newspaper to 1 million people.
From todays Mail.
“The source close to the documentary makers added: "She is very emotional. She breaks down on camera at different points during the filming.
"It clearly shows her as a caring mother who misses her daughter very much. This is a woman grieving and is clearly more emotional than she has ever been."”

If you hadn’t been following this story you might draw this conclusion but for those who have, including the Mail, its nonsense. It would be more valid imo to draw the conclusion that KM is sorry for herself and the possibility of her imminent arrest or she has taken acting lessons.

The Mail a rag that thinks it’s a newspaper.

Message from Gonçalo Amaral

As you can understand, I can't do any comment about the investigation on the "McCann Case"... (I have omitted the next part, in the interests of privacy but this did not in any way compromise the judicial secrecy laws)

Looking towards my freedom of speech, I asked for my retirement last month. All the insults, false accusations and lie's from the past year are now being brought to court from my lawyers (the very last one is from Daily Mail, yesterday).

I would like to say thank you to the thousands of persons that every day, for the last year, are supporting me all over the world. I would like to answer all the phone calls, emails and letters, but is not possible...there are so many! As you can imagine, most of the days are not that easy, and these messages have been a great support not only for me, but also for my family. Once again, thank you all!

You're allowed do display this message on you site, and I thank you for that. One last thing:

*Soon, very soon the world will know the "Truth about the Lie" and "we will gain truth and justice for a little girl who has no voice", dead on the evening of May 3rd at apartment 5A, Ocean Club, Praia da Luz, Algarve, Portugal"*

Best regards,
Gonçalo Amaral

Delores,

Food etc and nappies (for 5 people) does that include the nappies as well??!! Maybe Kate hasn't discovered Tena Lady! (sorry - bad taste!)

Docmac, your post:

Doesn't look as if he discovered much as the PJ have been leaking daily since Rebelo returned
Are you suggesting that PJ officers suffer some form of collective urological disorder? This is illegal and possibly libellous.

---------------------------------

I think you should go into writing comedy scripts with LGC. I laughed so much I cried!

So, Clarrie says that Kate only meant "in an ideal world there would have been a listening service". An ideal world? What is ideal about listening when you cannot hear a child choking, being asphyxiated by a plastic bag, being unconscious from a fall, etc, etc....? Ludicrous! I can't see them being able to back track from this unadulterated tripe and blatant attack on yet another group of people, MW.

I assume anybody who is not a doctor will be culpable next so at least Docmac will be safe from that!

Hope, you poor thing! I really hate the dentists. I have a phobia about having my gums anaesthetised now too, since my dentist squirted it straight down my throat and I felt like I couldn't swallow. I underwent root canal without and it was horrible! Still, at least I wasn't numb and could eat soup without dribbling!! BTW, I left you a message last night. If you got it, hope it's ok with you. x

My thoughts are with you. I shudder when I have to go to the dentist (and usually put it off far too long). Still, it's good to get these things sorted so you don't suffer with even more horrible things as a consequence of not going...and I can recommend a very soothing drink... :)

Delores,

Thank you for the post. Poor Goncalo. I am relieved he is finding the support that he has had helpful. Especially that it has helped his family. We often forget the hell the families go through as nothing is ever alluded to in that respect. It is heartening that he has found some solace.

His last words are very sweet and shows that he really, really cares about Madeleine. Just as viv said the other night, crimes like this really hurt the investigative team. This is why there are councillors readily available to the police, ambulance and fire service.

I would go so far to say that it has affected him more than certain others. Need I say more?!

Madeleine Firm Scraps Baby Listening

Andy Jack
Sky News online Updated:13:16, Wednesday April 23, 2008

The company which runs the resort where Madeleine McCann went missing has withdrawn baby listening services at all its holiday facilities.

Madeleine McCannMadeleine's mother Kate says she had wanted to employ a baby listening service at the Ocean Club in Portugal but none had been available.

Instead, she chose to physically check on her daughter every 30 minutes, while she and husband Gerry ate at a tapas bar elsewhere in the complex.

Her comments come in a documentary marking the first anniversary of the four-year-old's disappearance, to be screened next week.

It was while they were eating that Madeleine vanished from their apartment.

The resort in Praia da Luz is run by Mark Warner.

The company's Alex Woolfall told Sky News online: "We don't offer room listening services there, in fact we never have - it says so in our brochures.

"Ocean Club is spread out over a wide area - it's like a whole village and you couldn't go round and listen at every apartment.

Ocean Club resort in Portugal"In fact we stopped offering the service at our sites altogether last year.

Well, as Charles Dickens' Mr McCawber so famously said:

"Earn £1 and spend £1.01 - result misery (and the workhouse)!

Earn £1 and spend 99pence - result happiness"

Maybe in those days, but I doubt G&G could keep up their fabulous lifestyle on that meagre sum!!!

Afternoon all.

Let's see if I can make Rat's html work:

Look at the references to influences exercised via blogs and forums on this PR company's website.

PR companies organise posting on blogs routinely, on behalf of their clients. The McCann/Mitchell PR effort is most unlikely not to include attempts to shape public opinion by means of presences on blogs and forums. Online presences like Supertroll who spend a great deal of time and energy simply trying to shut other people up, with little or no evident social or personal reward (ie no friends) are likely to be professionally motivated. It strikes me that this is a rather fraudulent way of going about things - an attempt to create the impression that there is a groundswell of sympathy out the for the McCanns. But whenever some daring newspaper website actually puts up a HYS facility it is always flooded with comments demonstrating deep public suspicion of the couple - sometimes, after a while, but not always, followed by a flurry of pro-McCann comment, recognisably styled and full of vitriol, laced with threats of libel action etc, meant to scare away the public from saying what the vast majority of them think.

It's a hobby-horse of mine, I know, but I think it's necessary to keep up the effort to expose the anonymous PR bloggers for what they are, and to point out that there is nothing illegal, actionable or morally wrong with expressing the view that these police suspects might well be guilty of some involvement in the case in which they have been named suspects.

It is entirely irrational of Supertroll to claim otherwise, and that irrationality is for me further evidence pointing to the professional motivation of that blog - why else go to all that trouble asserting what anyone can see is nonsense, meant to further the claims of two police suspects who have hired some expensive PR. Of course I don't claim to know this for sure. But what do you think?

nancy said...

Dylan -

That wasn't nice of your dentist!!!

Even in the days before anaesthetic they used to give you a swig of whiskey to deaden the pain.

Hope - don't worry too much about the rc treatment - my son just finished having it and said you get used to it after a while! If you've got a dentist you can trust you'll sail through it!

I have a friend who hates the dentist so much she even asks for an anaesthetic when she has a check up!!!

librarising said...

...by the way, I use that PR company simply as an example of industry practice; they have no connection with the case nor do they specifically claim to post anonymously on blogs, just to exert influence there.

nancy said...

Librarising -

Influences exercised by blogs and forums! I should think it's highly probable that this happens - let's face it things go on via the internet that once upon we would have thought completely unacceptable, i.e. child pornography, sites aimed at children for illicit meetings, the list is endless, so I'm sure that there are people out there trying to influence peoples' opinions. Similar to vote rigging really and just as underhand! It's a shame they can't be named and shamed, but it's difficult for the likes of us to prove; If the government wanted to find out then of course they would have the right tools at their command - there is nothing they can't find out.

librarising said...

Modern dentists' anaesthetics are brilliant. I had some tricky extractions a year or two ago, and a crown fitted - no pain at all, and you don't any longer get that nasty ache afterwards as the anaesthetic wears off.

librarising said...

nancy - yes hard to prove but I think it's worth voicing suspicions. There's no doubt at all that some with family connections to the McCanns post anonymously and generate the impression of being members of the public with no axe to grind. I'm sure I remember dear Old Hippy admitting it once - dab hand with the vitriol but I liked her honesty. It's the sly ones I can't bear.

IMHO I think supertroll is a sad lonely person who seeks attention in any way it can achieve this.I would pay no attention at all to the rantings.

nancy said...

Rat - thanks for the link to the DM article. There is none so blind....as they say!! The McCanns don't lack for friends in the 'muck' newspapers that's for sure!

Viv -

you are so right - if the McCanns are as innocent as they make out just why don't they come clean with the PJ's who would no doubt react in a very positive way and at least view the McCanns in a more favourable light!

librarising said...

Dolores - yes, that's the only other explanation of ST - simply a nasty nutcase. Let's leave it at that then.

By the way was that message from Amaral part of a correspondence you've been having with him?

dolores said...

Libraraising,
No,I actually saw it on Maccannfiles.I suppose Amaral knows the sites that his message would get to.

librarising said...

Dolores - it's touching. I hope he's right and the truth comes out.

nancy said...

I wonder if the family and friends of the McCanns have ever thought how disloyal they are being to them in colluding with their behaviour in this case.

If I was a friend I would try to persuade the McCanns to be 100% honest about what happened instead of constantly changing their stories to suit them at a particular moment.

I would advise them to stop all these personal appearances around the globe, because it must mean they are away from home most of the time when they should be with their twins who need them right now, especially as they have lost their sister and need all the comfort they can give them. They deserve that at least! Children grow up very fast and they will regret that time they lost with them!

Go to Portugal on May 3rd and spend a quiet 24 hours just being where they remember Madeleine having a lovely time, which is what Kate remembers her saying to them after one particularly happy day she spent.

While there get in touch with the PJ's and answer all the questions they failed to answer before they got the plane home. At the same time confirm that they will both return to go over the reconstruction scene when it takes place.

Visit the young priest who was so very good to them in their hour of need and apologise to him for the way it affected his life. At the same time make a very constructive effort to thank all the local people who helped look for Madeleine on the night she disappeared.

If the McCann's friends and family want them to get rid of their nightmares and ghosts, which they must suffer, then they need to do all in their power to persuade them to do the right thing instead of denying they have a problem.

There is an old saying ' you have to be cruel to be kind' and it's so true in this case!

atardi said...

Hi Viv and all,

Viv, your post at 14.49
Kate crying tears for herself, several times during the documentary like she never did before, now she faces prosecution.

So true, I really had to laugh.
The public know Kate by now;).

As for the baby listening service. They got a price reduction because of this. They accepted the price reduction but are still complaining.

I can't believe it.

SwedishMum said...

Hi again all!

I'm still baffled about this price reduction. Did the brochures say that there was a listening service since they got a reduction?

Otherwise, I can't see why they should get a reduction. Not that it really matters since it doesn't change anything. It's just that I'm genuinely surprised (I don't think I would ever get the idea to ask for a reduction due to there not being a listening service).

It's strange to me, especially considering that they allegedly bought a fridge/freezer with their own money and didn't seem to bother too much about the cost then.

bath theory said...

Wizard your 15.13 piece talking about how a newspaper has quoted how Kate is struggling to cope.

Maybe just maybe she is considering more deeply exactly what they did (IMO) and the sheer enormity of it i.e. the cover up.

I am spending each night teaching my child to read and it is joyful beyond words. Even though I am exhausted from teaching during the day I manage to find the strength and patience to read one small book a night. The cat sat in a hat etc His need is greater than any of mine.

So imagine if Madeleine had started school as intended last September. Imagine the joyful experiences the mother would have already experienced as the summer term gets under way.

I would like to think maybe just maybe the deceit and deception is hitting home. Best to own up now.

I remember looking up the cost of their holiday when news first broke and the week at that time was very expensive.

One thing I would like to know if anyone remembers. It was mentioned somewhere that Gerry had taken a book on holiday with him that was a police manual or something like that. It was apparently a book very inappropriate for this sort of break. can anyone enlighten me on the book and the story?

SwedishMum said...

Hi Bath theory,

I'm not quite sure but wasn't it a book with the phrase "no stone unturned" in the title (the phrase they used for the campaign).

LittleGreyCell said...

Hello Bath Theory,

Here's a link to the book on a very well-known bookstore near to you:-

http://www.amazon.co.uk/No-Stone-Unturned-Forensic-Investigators/dp/0786015772/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1208972990&sr=1-1

Synopsis:-

A body stuffed in a car trunk swallowed by the swirling, muddy waters of the Missouri River. A hiker brutally murdered, then thrown off a cliff in a remote mountain range. A devious killer who hid his wife's body under a thick cement patio. For investigators, the story is often the same: they know a murder took place, they may even know who did it. But without key evidence, pursuing a conviction is nearly impossible. That's when they call NecroSearch International. Necrosearch boasts a brain trust of the nation's top scientists, specialists, and behaviourists who use the latest technology and techniques to help solve "unsolvable" crimes, no matter how decayed the corpse, no matter how cleverly the killer has hidden the victim's body. Now, for the first time ever, readers are taken on a fascinating, often-shocking journey into a realm of crime investigation of which few people are aware. Necrosearch's most challenging cases are described, step-by-step, as these modern-day Sherlock Holmes's detect bodies and evidence thought irretrievable, and testify in court to bring cold-blooded killers to justice.

Surely, just another McCoincidence...

Joe said...

From what the PJ suspect what difference would a listening service have made since there was no abductor, and what is the point of a listening service if everybody is well oiled, intent on enjoying themselves instead of looking after their children, which they were legally and morally obliged to do. The McCanns are pathetic to blame or even suggest Mark warner was to blame. If this was not such a tragic situation it would make a great comedy or stage play

dolores said...

Swedishmum,
I beleive they went on a budget holiday, and if they gave MW a hard time over the baby listening service MW would give a reduction as a goodwill gesture.
The new fridge, the villa and all expenses were paid from the fund.

I don't doubt that they got a reduction, it's just that it seems a bit greedy. And to me it seems like they had decided before the trip that the kids weren't going to stop them from enjoying themselves.
I honestly wonder why they "bothered" to bring them. And that goes for all the vacationing families, not just the McCanns.

Swedishmum/Dolores,

When I read that Kate had the courage to mention the baby listening service, my blood started to cook, (don't know the appropiate word in English)

If you have children and you want to go on holiday with them you know already that you can't go out at night with your friends.

Now a 40 years old woman, who wanted to enjoy her holiday
by dining every night with her friends, who left her children alone, night after night, is mentioning the absence of a baby listening service?

Come on.
