WHOEVER THEY HURT INVESTIGATION WILL BRING RESULTS

Hi all

In the toughest talk I have ever seen from the PJ and the Chief, no less, we are promised the investigation will bring results whoever they hurt. This obviously leaves the way open to others being prosecuted besides Kate and Gerry and is wonderful news!

I also post an article from The Lawyer where it is explained London law firm have launched libel action against 11 media outlets including the poor old DE again! It promises this will be the biggest we have ever seen, sounds like it too. Mr Murat is going to be a very rich man:-) Again, fantastic news, for fairness and for justice. The way that Robert and his girlfriend were castigated in the press and by the likes of Rosiepops and Christabel unedited on the comments forum (Now removed) calling him a paedophile and a pervert etc was an absolute disgrace)

Madeleine McCann mystery will be solved, say policeBy Bonnie Malkin and agencies
Last Updated: 11:15am BST 16/04/2008
Portuguese police have insisted they will solve the mystery of Madeleine McCann's disappearance.
In full: The Madeleine McCann investigation
Faro police chief Guilhermino Encarnacao, who is in charge of coordinating the investigation into the missing girl, has brushed off criticism of his force.
advertisement

He insisted the to insist the case was moving forward.
Madeleine McCann investigators have been locked in a war of words with the four-year-old's parents and their press spokesman Clarence Mitchell following the leaking of the couple's police statements.
Last week Mr Mitchell demanded an inquiry into how the McCanns' witness statements - given shortly after their daughter vanished - had been leaked and claimed it was another attempt to smear the couple.
In a rare public statement, the Policia Judiciaria (PJ) then criticised Mr Mitchell for his "baseless intervention".
Dr Encarnacao, speaking after a meeting between public prosecutors and police who travelled to Britain for fresh interviews with the McCanns' holiday friends, said: "Everything's going well.
"The inquiries carried out in the UK are progressing in the best way possible."
He said the police were not "vulnerable to pressure" from any party involved.
"The investigation will bring its results, whoever they hurt."
The pledge came as a clairvoyant claimed Madeleine McCann died in an accident.
Last week it emerged that Robert Murat, the British expatriate made a formal suspect over the disappearance of Madeleine, has begun one of the largest libel claims in the history of British media.
The 34-year-old, who lived close to the Portugal apartment where the missing girl was last seen, has launched libel proceedings against 11 newspapers and one television network.

Simons Muirhead & Burton is launching one of Britain's largest libel claims on behalf of Robert Murat, the man named by Portugese police as a formal suspect in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
The firm, in a statement, confirmed it was representing Murat in respect to libel actions against 11 newspapers and one television channel. The firm declined to comment any further.
Almost a year since Madeleine's disappearance in Praia Da Luz, Portugal, Murat is seeking formal public apologies and damages for his treatment in the British press.
One relative said the media's treatment of Murant resulted in "unfair stains on the name of a man against whom there is not a shred of evidence".
The news comes less than a month after media firm Carter-Ruck ensured Madeleine's parents received apologies from Express Newspapers for suggesting they were responsible for her death.
This included front page retractions in The Daily Express and Daily Star and the newspaper group has paid £550,000 to the Find Madeleine campaign.

Hi folks, just leaving for work in a wee minute, bit I thought I would post this meantime.

An article by Hazel Mackinley

It is quite old (October 2007) but even more relevant today. And reminds us all why we are still here, almost one year on.

Have a good day, all, in case I am too busy to look in.

Hope4truth,

Nice to read that you survived your holiday. I hope your girls enjoyed it.

How was the weather?

Read you later.

Bath theory,

You had a very interesting post last night at 22.18.

If CM was planted does this mean that he has nothing to fear?

He always react on comments made in the press but yet he didn't react on the news that the PJ wants to sue him.

Your last paragraph shows one of the tactics of the Mc Canns.

Wasn't it reported she was too fragile to go to Portugal to do something that may supposedly help find Madeleine but Belgium was ok. It was okay to promote something that diverts people away from the fact that if they had stayed with 3children under 4yrs of age that night then an amber system was neither here or there.

bath theory said...

Great link Ratonthebeam with the article by Hazel Mackinley.

At least Brown has now been completely exposed politically since it was written last October and there are votes to be won by not interfering with the potential McCann trial. Mr & Mrs McCann should now be extremely worried. It would be better if they opened up a little and took the route of honesty wherever that path leads to. One would imagine it would lead to a weight being lifted off their shoulders and souls ! (IMO)

PS Thanks Atardi

bath theory said...

The point about visiting Belgium is bizarre isn't it. A reconstruction Crimewatch style has often led to amazing results and yet too fragile for that but solid enough to brown nose Euro MEP's.

All is Clear to those who believe human progress comes from looking behind what we see and for those like us on this forum who look for a context and motive.

The mere fact that they cannot talk directly to or about their eldest child is perhaps the most telling fact in this sorry story about a young girl who was let down.

MADDY MOVE
18/04/2008

The owner of the holiday flat where Madeleine McCann vanished wants to rent it out, it was claimed yesterday.

Ruth McCann - who is no relation - is said to be asking £19,500 a year from tourists for the Ocean Club property in Praia da Luz, Portugal. The two bedroom flat has been empty since August.

A local paper claimed it will not be available until June because police need it for a reconstruction. Ruth McCann refused to comment.

Good Morning All,
I’ve just been reading some of last night’s posts and I see the subject of Clarence jumping ship resurfaced.

A couple of days ago I posted why Burn’s in his recent book said Clarence left mainline journalism for a government position and why I believed he attached himself to the McCanns.

My post 16th April 08
Clarence Mitchell knew his career as a journalist was over a number of years ago. He was what is called a general journalist which has now out of fashion. Journalists specialise; crime, industry, politics, fashion etc. This was the reason he moved to his government job in the first place - no openings in general journalism. (Burns)

Imo he took this secondment to open a new career pathway in public relations, spin call it what you will. Initially it would have appeared as an opportunity to showcase and promote his abilities to future employers. I believe we will see him jump ship soon because if taking the job was to showcase his wares things are beginning to turn to his disadvantage and his talents are being highlighted in a negative as opposed to positive light.

If he cannot ride out this current storm, which is directed at him, he will go in the next few weeks.

Wizard said...

Hi Viv,

Just seen your reply to me on the other thread regarding CM legal position. Thanks for the information.

atardi said...

Wizard,

Don't you think it's too late for him to jump the ship?

I mean who wants to employ someone who has been spinning about the disappearance of a innocent 3 years old girl for nearly a year?

He lost his credibility.

Wizard said...

I was just re-reading the case of JonBenet Ramsey and the striking similarities between the parent’s behaviour of this child and Madeleine’s are quite striking. It made me wonder if someone in Team McCann isn’t using it as a template for their public relations campaign.

Hi Atardi,

Well in my eyes he lost credibility a long time ago, however, its about damage limitation and I think with the appropriate spin he could come out of this not “smelling of roses” but only slightly shop soiled professionally. The professional damage could be well be compensated by £’s made through interviews, books, articles etc. This secondment has, if nothing else, raised his profile and fuure earning potential.

Good morning all

I am a bit behind with all the news and just trying to catch up.
Why are some of you saying CM has jumped ship, has he gone silent or made some king of statement to that effect.

If he has jumped ship, I hope he is a good swimmer because he has jumped whilst sailing through dangerous and deep waters IMO

atardi said...

Wizard,

You think the damage he has caused can be limited ?

Yes he might write a book explaining people why he has done this but who wants to buy a book written by a spinner/liar?

SwedishMum said...

Good morning all,

I'll just jump right into the discussion about CM and his future earnings. I'm quite sure lots of people would buy a book about this case written by him. This case is something as far from ordinary as possible - whether it will be solved or not - and if there's one thing that people are interested in, it's inside stories about such cases. (Not sure a potential book would be very interesting though, he would probably have to tread very cautiously).

Stella said...

Morning everyone,

After having such a horrendous nights sleep due to high winds, If I cannot sleep instead of counting sheep, I let myself get deep into thought with this case. Last night it was the turn of the so called new fridge.

If the reports are true and Gerry did in fact replace a fridge at some point, did anyone physically see him remove the old one?

If you needed a fridge to be at a certain address you have three options. 1. Order a new one and have the company you bought it from deliver it directly to the address. 2. Buy one and take it home immediately in the back of a very large boot. 3. Get a second hand one.

With option 1 any retailer would have on record the delivery address used. If this happened to be a secret safe house, raising questions at a later date would ultimately lead to that address. As with option 2, it would be very easy to check if a recently purchased fridge was still in your possession, or has disappeared. With option 3, if you were to dispose of an old fridge, one that everyone who saw you leave with thought you were going somewhere to dispose of it, it would be an ideal opportunity to take it to a hidden location, no one would ever know where.

The date of the purchase of the new fridge is important, but not necessarily essential. The old fridge could have gone days or weeks before or after the arrival of the new one.

What are the chances of someone seeing Gerry leave with the old fridge and they managed to make a note of the date?

As you can see, I am finally back to my mischievous old self. It was things like this that used to really annoy Mark55......

Gina said...

Stella have you just thought about the fridge again or has it come up recently somewhere else, I keep losing the plot!!!

Stella said...

On a different note,

I think the PJ should get in touch with the guy who was in charge of the Panorama program, who walked out the week before the Madeline episode was aired.

This guy may actually know who was trying to cover things up, which may be helpful to the PJ with building a case for someone attempting to pervert the course of justice. Just a thought.

Also, I was watching News 24 a few weeks ago and there was a guest on there by the name of John Carr, who was supposedly an internet expert on social networking sites. I wonder if this is the very same John Carr who graced the DE site claiming to be an ex Metropolitan Police officer. If so was he there out of interest or was he being paid?

Stella said...

Hi Gina

I just thought about it again last night. I have a feeling certain things are being cleverly dropped into the public domain for a reason, and this one has been bugging me for a long time. Gerry has probably never visited any shop in the UK to pick up a kettle, let alone a fridge. So why would he do it abroad?

atardi said...

Swedishmum/Wizard,

I think I was trying to ignore the reality. Of course will buy the book and see all the interviews.

But I hate the thought that CM can make money just because he supports child neglecters.

It's an easy and disgusting way of making money.

Wizard said...

Atardi,

I think CM has

• effectively stopped the press publishing anything that is the slightest speculative about the McCanns
• He has in the main prevented the British media from publishing anti McCann pieces.
• He has effectively; given the material he has defended manipulated the press into publishing mainly pro McCann articles.
• He has presided over the closure of the Daily Mirror & Express forums and the successful libel action against the Express Newspapers all of which were thorns in the McCanns side.
• He has put diversionary stories into the public arena to detract from the pj’s line of enquiry.
• He has made the public at large say things like “Would they do all this if they were guilty”. His public relations exercise has had some success and he most certainly has in my opinion muddied the waters between fact and fiction.

I think when I judge someone like CM I start from the premises that the McCanns are guilty in someway of their daughters disappearance therefore it follows under the circumstances he has done reasonably well. The McCann’s are only paying him £70,000 a year and they could not get top flight PR for that. However, if you start from the premise that the McCanns are innocent his work does not look effective. But you can’t expect miracles for £70K.

Great post, that is exactly how I feel. One day CM will fall off his pedestal and all the Kings horses and all the Kings men, will not be able to put Pinky back together again, shame ehh....

SwedishMum said...

Atardi,

as you know I'm on the fence but if it turns out to be as you believe and CM has been aware of it all along - I'm inclined to agree with you. Yet, no matter how disgusting, he'll have his fortune made. And he'll continue to be a celebrity - a bit tarnished perhaps, but people have a tendency to forget. So in the end, he'll probably just be a celebrity.

Have to go on with my cleaning now.

Bye for now all!

Gina said...

Swedish Mum you are so right everybody seems to be making a fortune out of this whether they are innocent or guilty. The only one to have lost out completely is Madeleine, poor soul.

Have to go now will catch up later x

Wizard said...

Whilst talking about CM’s future career prospects what about the McCanns. Imo they are both finished as doctors unless the do some kind of medical research. Kate has, I believe, already accepted this. If they are guilty of manslaughter or child neglect their professional days are over, hence all this interest in Amber Alert and similar organisations. It is putting into the public arena what they can do and trying to make forward advances in the face of a tragedy.

The Mc’s may well, as yet, be charged. If this is so and they are found guilty, no way can they practice as doctors or representatives for children’s charities. This could well explain their desperation. If the Mc’s are found guilty what do they do with the rest of their lives once they have served their respective sentences? It all looks very bleak for them. I believe they will never admit to guilt even if tried and proved guilty in court.

Does anyone know if Gerry wrote about the fridge in his blog, I've never been able to find this comment.

If the Mccanns are found guilty Clarence can still make a fortune on books etc but probably down the lines of, "The Mccanns Decieved Me".

Isis,

Thank you for sending my comments to Niki on the 3A's. Hope she will manage to post here.

marga said...

Stella, you said:

"I have a feeling certain things are being cleverly dropped into the public domain for a reason".

I too can't stop thinking of the reason why this latest leak has occurred especially:
1. after the PJ have denied it coming from them ;

2. if and according to yesterday's news that dialogue between Kate and Maddie is not in the PJ files.

So, we are probably led to think that she was still alive at breakfast on the 3rd and also that Kate has rethought her role as a mother and consequently spent all day long with her and that's why Maddie's "alleged" sentence:
"Mum, I had the most wonderful day ever".

Stella said...

Atardi

I hope I can get some sleep tonight also. Loss of sleep makes my condition much worse.

As to your comment, I do not think a fridge would have been burried. The only use for a fridge is to keep something cold enough to try an preserve something. If you were going to bury it, it would be a lot harder than buring something smaller.

I would be interested to know if there is a special site where fridges have to go to and if it has CCTV?

Cláudia said...

I see CM is still silent. I wonder why... Come on, CM, you don't have to be afraid. If you are sure the PJ leaked it, you will have no trouble whatsoever in court. Of course, there is always the remote possibility that you have been economical with the truth... :-)

Stella said...

Marga

I agree, there is something very fishy about that comment. I cannot imagine any 3 year old coming out with that statement. So why did they feel it was necessary to drop this one into the ocean. Was it as some kind of defence to say the Madeleine was a happy child, having a great time, perhaps to counter balance the truth perhaps that she was very unhappy for being left alone on so many nights.

I can't help but think they are releasing as much as they can to try and scream a mis trial - I think that's how you spell it?

Stella said...

Marga

That's it, they know they are going to court soon and by using dirty tricks, they are trying to get out of it....

lorraine said...

Just been reading Metodos website and looking at their, "Methods of Work". Says something along the lines of 1/ Client contacts us, explains problem. 2/ Corresponding department examines all records and received documents. I wonder how many people at metodo were privvy to these documents?

With regard to Corresponding Department, I wonder which dept was handling this case as their website states their departments as insurance, financial, franchises, fraud, trademarks, information protection. I know it's been discussed before but what a strange choice in choosing this agency to find Madeleine.

Wizard said...

Madeleine’s allegedly said. “Mum, I had most wonderful day ever”. Kat in a more recent interview said that Madeleine was referring to her first tennis lesson that day. This again puts into the public domain, according to Kate anyway, that Madeleine was at the tennis courts on afternoon of May 3rd. No independent witnesses saw her there though!

Stella said...

Lorraine

Exactly, fraud and missing children are at opposite ends of the ruler, don't you think. They might just as well have employed a company who specialises in investigating cleanliness in restaurants, they are a lot more thorough in their work.

Stella said...

Wizard

I know there are many people questioning if it happened on the 2nd or the 3rd, but if it had been the 2nd, why would it have been necessary for O'Brien to have been gone for so long on the night of the 3rd? The night of the 3rd would not have been as hectic as it was if it had happened on the 2nd, in my opinion.

I think it must of happened around 6 p.m. on the 3rd, just before the so called third tennis game. Perhaps one had to go out and scout for assistance?

lorraine said...

Hi Stella
I wonder if Metodo were recommended to them ? Their record shows they only employ the best that money can buy, lawyers, etc so surely they would want the best agency in the world specialising in missing children.

atardi said...

Stella,

With option 2 I meant that you have to get rid of the old one when you buy a new one.

If you don't want to bring it to a place where they collect fridgers than it might be an option.

Stella said...

Atardi

Sorry, I am with you know. If they feared that someone might look inside an old fridge on a mountain of old fridges, you might consider having to dispose of it in another way. Then yes, you may have to bury it. Or maybe it is still sitting inside a villa somewhere, that no one knows of the address? Perhaps a friends place or a long term holiday rental?

lorraine said...

Stella
Do you know where the fridge story came from, was it in Gerrya blog?

Stella said...

Lorraine

I thought M3 had only ever found one child. If I were the McCann's that would not have been good enough for me. I would have done my own research into a suitable company and not just taken the advice of someone else.

Sorry, have to go offline for a bit now, will be back on later this afternoon.

Good morning everyone

Stella/Lorraine

Gerry wrote about changing the fridge in his blog. When it became the discussion on DE & 3As the blog was removed.

Why, would anyone who was renting a holiday apartment have to pay for and change the broken fridge, very odd.

atardi said...

Stella/Marga,

About the leaks I read that there were 3 copies of what Madeleine said.

The ones who have an copy are CM, The British police and the private investigator.

Wizard,

About Madeleine's tennis lessons even Jeremy Wilkins wife couldn't say if Madeleine was there. Because there were so may blonde girls and that all looked the same.

Stella said...

Lorraine

The fridge story first came out around September time last year, I think. It was a long time ago anyway and I am sure it was mentioned on Gerry's blog.

Maybe someone on 3A's will have a copy of the original post, I am not very good on using that site, and will only post here now.

Stella said...

Di,

Thanks for confirming Gerry's blog.

Really must go now......

Wizard said...

Stella, I originally thought something happened to Madeleine on the afternoon of 3rd May but now I'm inclined to think it happened from 11.30pm on 2 May or during the early hours of 3rd May.

Firstly, It would have taken time to consider their options and come up with an abduction theory to cover what happened.

Secondly, if O'Brien was involved he needed cover of darkness to do what ever he felt he had to do. Imo that could have meant just prior to the alarm being given.

Wizard said...

Precisely Atardi – nobody can confirm her being at the tennis courts only Kate who apparently did not stay to watch.

LittleGreyCell said...

Hello Everyone,

Have just been reading back...

...I don't think it was a fridge, I think it was a freezer, which I read Gerry had taken in the hire car to the local tip.

In November a bag was found at the side of the road to the airport, containing clothes and various other items, including a shower curtain which had been frozen.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=491653&in_page_id=1770

This link does not say the shower curtain had been frozen, but I remember reading it in a couple of other places, not sure where.

Regarding CM's future career, I agree that a book would be the most likely proposition for him (apart from working for somebody very rich with an agenda, who doesn't mind paying for a representative who's not too fussy about what he has to do for the money. There are many people who hire such spokesmen, and much of the general public will believe anything they're told, sadly; after all, look how many people believe stuff about the numerous clients of Max Clifford, for example, when one of his most famous 'plants' was that Freddie Starr ate a hamster?)

I also agree with Swedish Mum that such a book will sell, immoral as others might find this fact. If Jeffrey Archer can have a book published about his time in prison (well, the small amount of time he spent there when he wasn't allowed out on day release to work in theatres and lunch with his friends), CM won't have much trouble getting a deal about working with the main protagonists of the biggest mystery of our time. (And maybe their status will be something different by then, too). And how much of this book will be the truth, anyway?

And while I'm at it (it has been a long read!), Stella: if a tragic incident had happened on the night of the 2nd, when we're told the McCanns were dragged out of the beach restaurant by angry MW staff because the kids were constantly crying, thus making the presumably 'tanked up' revellers angey and humiliated, they would have needed time to come to terms with what had happened and to think what to do. If they came to the conclusion they had to cover the incident up and dispose of a body, they would naturally wait until it was dark again, which would make the following evening, the night of the 3rd, the best bet.

It was quite chilly in the evenings that week, we're told, and the resort is a quiet family place. How many people would have been out taking the air at 9.00pm?

Just my thoughts here...

Hello Atardi

We had a lovely time thanks all very quiet now we are home so I went to work for a few hours to see what I had missed (sad) lol..

Hello All

I think CM will make a fortune from a book about this case no matter what the outcome. He was not there the night it happend so cant be held responisble for any of it and if he is working for G&K he can say he had no reason to doubt them if they are lying and how shocked he was if the truth is they are responisble for what happend.

He will never need to work again (unless he wants to)I must be honest every time he opens his mouth I think they are more guilty some of the rubbish he comes out with !!!!!!! (Put it this way if I am ever accused of something I have not done I would not want him spinning for me)...

nancy said...

Gina -

CM has gone very quiet of late and so we've been trying to fathom out the reason. Personally, I think he's been told by K&G to cool it a bit because every time he opens his mouth he gets them deeper into the mire! For instance, he blamed the PJ's for leaking the quote - "where were you when we were crying Mummy?"

It seems that quote was not in Kate's deposition to the PJ's, but she had in fact told it to the investigators they were using before Metodo 3! So the PJ's are now talking of suing CM!

If you can understand all that you are a better man than me Gungha Dinn!!

I'm trying hard to think of who I can sue because I could do with a few bob myself!! No point trying to sue anyone here in Espana though they would just laugh at you!!

Cláudia said...

Yoo hoo, CM! We miss you (not)!

nancy said...

I must say I've never understood this about Gerry heaving out the old fridge and carting it off somewhere!! Unless of course he had permission from the owner - another McCann! Maybe the children had opened it and spilled all the stuff all over the place. Could there have been something in the fridge, i.e. for medicinal purposes that Madeleine could have reached and taken for instance?

Strange thing to do while on holiday though, change a fridge! I would have though the owner had checked all equipment out before letting it out again. Personlly, if I was renting a place where the fridge had packed up, I would go and order a new one (with the owners permission), get the shop to collect it and bring the new one at the same time!

Nowt so strange as folks they say!!

Gina said...

Hi Nancy was just finishing off another coffee before going back to the chores and saw your post. Keep missing you, but I must catch up with loads of things I keep putting off. Yes I agree with this suing thing, Spain are not into that at all. I remember one day in town some Brit holiday maker stumbled over a loose paving slab and instantly went into I am going to sue (he hadn't even fallen down). I told him it was not worth the bother, they would probably just direct him to the nearest opticians.

I keep looking in to see if any new news is coming out of Portugal today. Something has to blow soon surely. Must go, will try and get back later (sooooo windy today, didn't bother to go down the market)

I'm very well, thanks. Oddly enough, people keep telling me how well I'm looking! I think it's getting the digestive disorders under control - and what's more, I'm more or less on a normal diet now, so no more carpet underlay, hurrah!

Were you buying the papers whilst you were away? Not that there's much in there about the PJ suing CM (how odd!). Do you feel rested?

Welcome back!

Welcome back - hope you had a good time even if the bed was a little uncomfortable!! I bet the children enjoyed it too!

You can probably see that Viv has increased the members since you've been gone!

I expect you'll be reading back stuff for a while.

You'll see that CM is the topic of conversation at the moment!

Hi Nancy,

I remember reading that the owner of the villa admitted to being mystified about Gerry buying a new freezer, as he'd only recently put that one in (and it was a new one).

marga said...

Your post: 12:02
Exactly.

It would have been very difficult not to say impossible to recover from sth so terrible in a hour or two and then having pretended the abduction.
And there is also that thing about cleaning service dismissed and the use of diffrent cleaning products in the apartment.

Hi LGC

So pleased you are eating real food again..

We had a lovely week away but I was glad to be back in my own bed again...

We are going out walking this afternoon (dont want to loose the fitness I have gained over the last week) I am a new woman (well until the novelty wears off)...

Did not see many papers although I did read about Shannon while I was away poor little thing another child let down by her parents (or Mother at least)although I would hope my husband would fight to take the girls from me but to be fair I guess we can all make things seem ok so maybe he did not know???

The girls were up and down rocks really quickly I took my time (but not out of choice LOL)...

Hi Nancy,
The replacement fridge was bought for the villa they rented not the apartment. There are always two ways of looking at things announced by the McCanns did Gerry on finding the fridge faulty and absent landlords just say “I’ve had enough of this there’s enough to worry about without the inconvenience of a faulty fridge in a hot climate., “I’m gonna get a new one and wait for them to refund me later.” Remember they were staying for sometime. Or this fridge could contain trace evidence therefore I must get rid of it and say I’m replacing it because it’s broken. Who knows what the truth is with regard to the fridge?

hope4truth said...

Hi Nancy

Yes I saw a few new people last night. I tried to post about 5 times before I realised what had happend.

CM is intresting still reading back and catching up on the news I read somewhere he called them Mr and Mrs McCann which was odd do you know when he did this???

xxx

nancy said...

Wizard -

thanks for explaining that! I hadn't realised the fridge was from the villa they rented! Oh well, another theory out of the window!

Why though I wonder,if the broken down fridge wasn't applicable to Madeleine's disappearance, did he have to mention it at all in his blog.

It seems the fridge and everything else under the sun, like meat and tatties, was more important to write about than Madeleine!

nancy said...

Hope for Truth -

I think it's in recent statements he has made - all of a sudden he is getting formal with them! Maybe he was getting a bit to friendly with Kate and Gerry got the hump about it!! Just surmising of course!!

LittleGreyCell said...

Hope,

Sounds like a healthy and happy holiday...glad you're going to keep it up! I'm not very 'outdoors sporty' myself, but do enjoy the sort of exercise where I can remain dry and warm! (Southern wimp :)). We're on the verge of buying an exercise bike so we can combine the aerobic stuff with yoga. If I can watch the news whilst keeping fit, I'll be very happy! (And so much more so watching updates on the PJ's defamation action!)

The Shannon case is extraordinary, isn't it? And what's more, I should think it doesn't make the McCanns look as good as they'd hoped, either. Shannon's mother has been remanded in custody until her trial in November for her own protection, which can't put the joys of spring into certain people's step...

LittleGreyCell said...

Ms Nancy,

Do you think that Mr Mitchell is distancing himself from Mr and Mrs McCann to preserve his own position?

Ms LittleGreyCell

hope4truth said...

LGC

We had one day when it poured down and we had hail (very very cold) but the rest of the week was fantastic so that made it seem better (I am not one for getting dirty)...

I think the fact she has been remanded shows how serious perverting the course of justice is (will Craig Meehan be charged with that as well or will he get a slap on the wrist and set free to down load more of the vile images he has been arested for???)...

Have I missed anything major???

Wizard said...

Nancy, remember if we are to believe evidence of a corpse was found in a car rented 25 days after M’s disappearance where was she kept in between?

hope4truth said...

I guess this answers my question... Inocent until proven guilty but these sick pervert's lie all the time...

Shannon mother's ex in porn trial

The ex-partner of Shannon Matthews' mother has pleaded not guilty to possessing child pornography.

Craig Meehan, 22, stood in the dock at Dewsbury Magistrates' Court to face 11 specimen charges relating to indecent images of children.

Mr Meehan, who lived with Shannon and her mother Karen Matthews, 32, in Dewsbury Moor, was arrested during the inquiry into the girl's disappearance.

He has elected to stand trial before magistrates at a date to be set.

About 140 images were allegedly found on two computers at the couple's home.

Until his arrest Mr Meehan lived at Ms Matthews' home on Moorside Road, Dewsbury Moor.

He is father to one of Ms Matthews' seven children.

Ms Matthews is currently being held in custody after appearing in court accused of perverting the course of justice and neglect of a child.

Both charges she faces relate to Shannon's disappearance

LittleGreyCell said...

Hope,

I think Craig Meehan is only up for pornography charges at the moment. But since the rest of his family, it seems, are implicated in the 'abduction' malarky, there may be more to come.

I take it you know about the PJ suing CM for saying they had leaked Kate's testimony? Seems what she is supposed to have said wasn't told to them during her interrogations...oops!

Mixed reaction to K&G's trip to Brussels to 'launch' the Amber Alert system. Other than that, there seems to be a bit of a media blackout - possibly because the PJ are about to make charges.

Oh, did you know about JT changing her story about leaving the table?

Apparently, the PJ are going to make a press statement in the next few days.

nancy said...

Ratty -

I love your blogname - it reminds me of the 'Wind in the Willows' stories I used to read to the children - now they read them to theirs!!

Thanks for the link to Hazel Mackinley - makes very interesting reading, and even though we have been discussing for ages what she says in her article, she really puts everything into perspective!

I have always though it strange the sway that CM seems to hold over the media, almost as though he's holding a gun to it's head! But after reading the following it does explain some of the stuff 2345used to come up with ad infinitum. I'm sure most of you have read it but it won't hurt to repeat it.

Hazel said - "Gordon Brown's wife, Sarah Macaulay has a friend, Julia Hobsbawm, who happens to be a chief executive of Editorial Intelligence, and who is also a close friend of Sir Philip Green and Clarence Mitchell, director of the government's media monitoring unit!" I think her words speak volumes!

So I can see now why CM got the job of protecting the McCanns - not that he's made such a fantastic job of it to date! He talks far too much in my opinion - silence is sometimes golden!

hope4truth said...

LGC

I did not know she had changed her story (again) do you know what she changed it to or has it been reported that she just changed it???

I did hear they were interviewed for a very long time though...

I wonder what the PJ know they must be sure of something not to be going along with the kidnap it would have been so easy for them to have searched agreed and then after a while say they thought she had been taken out of the country. As sadly many children go missing every year and are never found they would not have looked bad because of it...

Poor little girl deserves the truth whatever it may be and whoever it may hurt...

xxx

nancy said...

LGC -

Yes, I certainly do think that CM is distancing himself from the McCanns - after all, whatever we may think of him and that's not much, he is obviously a very literate person or he wouldn't have had a job in government before, so he must be finding the McCanns and some of their families, a tad infuriating at times with the inconsistencies in their stories, and that is obviously why he chooses to do all the talking, not that he has done much better, hence the PJ's talking of suing him. This latest clanger about Madeleine asking where her Mum was, when the PJ's didn't have that in Kate's deposition, has been straw which migh break the camel's back!

nancy said...

Wizard -

Yes that does sound feasible and exactly fits in with everything else, but then why would Gerry go on about a fridge in his blogs I wonder - you would think he would want that kept under covers!

hope4truth said...

LGC

I had read about the PJ suing CM but only on here so Kate did not tell the PJ about Madeleine crying but told M3 is that right???

xxx

LittleGreyCell said...

Hope,

Apparently, she has admitted that she didn't get up from the tapas table until 10.00pm, and this means she couldn't have seen 'bundleman' when she said she did. Which would have major implications for many people...

The PJ have said that the interviews in the UK went very well. Ribiero went home a day early - this has been seized upon by the Pros as him reacting to the 'leak' from the PJ, which never happened. And there was apparently some digging going on around the PDL chirch, although some say there has been an ongoing roadworks project which is unconnected.

Hmm.

If nothing else, he does deserve a place in history for this!

nancy said...

Hi again LGC -

Well if the fridge/freezer was new that makes the mystery deepen considerably. Do you think the PJ's have that on file?

But just why would Gerry write about it in his blog, unless he wanted to make out it was an everyday occurence, like the meat and tatties!

hope4truth said...

I am off for my walk see you later xxx

LittleGreyCell said...

Hope,

That appears to be the case. This information was not told to the PJ, which they have stated will be easily proved once the secrecy has been suspended and all the information can be made public.

It would seem at the moment that this information was given to Hogan International, who preceeded Metodo3.

Goodness me, though; if you were going to accuse someone of leaking information, wouldn't you make sure that they had been given this information in the first place?!

General feeling is (including mine), that the 'leak' of the chastising of Kate and Gerry by Madeleine is meant to divert attention away from the night before (2nd), and show that Madeleine was still alive on the 3rd.

Thing I can't understand is how the info was given to Hogan or whoever, but was not told to the PJ.

Yet more intruigue...

Wizard said...

CM very quite! News blackout? Well……… wasn’t CM being interviewed by the Leicestershire police this week. He is probably too busy getting straight what he has to tell them to write press releases to the media and to be honest he is their main source of information on this case.

nancy said...

LGC -

You can say that again - and I'm sure he'll get one, along with the Tapas 9 -

Talking of tapas I just love them so I just hope this case won't put an end to these delicious tit-bits!!

It could have made them more popular of course with people who had never eaten them!

Do you have any tapas bars in your neck of the woods? I know they are getting more popular in the Uk and a friend of mine says there is a lovely one in Reading just opened!

See you later - off for some lunch now!

LittleGreyCell said...

Nancy,

Yes, I personally think the PJ do have the information about the freezer on file - I thnk they have MUCH more than we have been led to believe by the Spinning Mitchell Brother.

I think Gerry mentioned the freezer in his blogs for a couple of reasons: it's mundane trivia, and he can't seem to express any emotion about what he's supposed to be upset about, so what else can he write about?; and he has a desire to live on the edge - a kind of 'hiding in plain sight' thing, where he dares you to make something of it.

I think he goes along the route of bringing things out into the open because then you won't believe that anything untoward has gone on, because he wouldn't be mentioning it if it was at all dodgy, would he? Bluffing as brought to you by G. McCann.

He thinks he's being very clever, but he never sees how he's coming over to us...

LittleGreyCell said...

Hope,

Have a good walk!

(BTW, I think JT's evidence may have changed a while ago, when The Tapas 1 was rumoured to have changed their story. It just may look better that it was 'extracted' from her during rigorous interrogation last week - just a thought).

LittleGreyCell said...

Wizard,

Do you think the next story from Clarence will be that Kate and Gerry ate his hamster?

Joe said...

As Nancy mentioned about the fridge it is an enigma. Why would McCann remove the fridge himself, a fridge that is not his property and do so on his own when the owner of the property would have had it removed I am sure and replaced if it was faulty. It does not add up, only adds to suspicion IMO.

As regards Mitchell getting his story straight for the British Police, he could not get his tie straight.

LittleGreyCell said...

Nancy,

I love tapas, too! But not many places do it around these parts, sadly - they're mostly along the south coast (Brighton, Portsmouth and so on).

It's a great way to eat, because you can just eat as little as you want (or as much). :)

I agree - it's great publicity for the food! If you were marketing it, what a gift this would be!

Enjoy your lunch!

Wizard said...

LGC,
Freddie Star’s PR man at the time of the alleged hamster eating incident was Max Clifford and it was his scam. Robert Murat is now being handled by Max Clifford.

Not to be outdone CM will no doubt have the McCanns eating gerbils to regenerate publicity for them and keep them on the front page. He will of course blame the pj for leaking this information to the press and the McCanns lawyers in turn will threaten to sue them.

I can see where you are coming from about needing time to consider a master plan and therefore the 2nd is more likely. Although I believe Gerry is quite an athlete when it comes to thinking quick, watching him intervene when Kate is about to screw up is quite amusing. I think he could easily have come up with a very plausible scenario in under 30 minutes myself. He may have used his 50/50 and also needed to phone a friend, but in that situation you only have one coice really.

Stella said...

Why did Gerry mention the fridge on his blog?

Maybe someone spotted him leaving with it or struggling trying to put it in his car. If they had a people carrier with sliding doors it may have been big enough for one man to slide it in sideways, so just in case the person who spotted him thought he may have been doing something he shouldn't have been doing, he perhaps thought it best to mention it on his blog. After all everyone replaces fridges all the time, nothing sinister there really, but not everyone would know how old it was or if he had permission to replace it in the first place. Perhaps by putting it on his blog he thought it would never get another consideration. Unsure of the timings I would think it appeared on the blog before the bag was found and disappeared immediately after.

Stella said...

Joe

You mentioned about CM not getting his tie straight. That is perhaps why he wears a tailored shirt without ties, which looks so naff. Just wish he spoke to Trinny and Susannah, they could sort out his continual wardrobe malfuntion in an instant. They could even advise on which colours to wear, obviously not pink.

marga said...

Gerry's blog is also something strange.

Why does he need to have a blog if he doesn't write there regularly and scarcely refers to Maddie ?

Joe said...

Stella,

The thing is on holiday why would the holiday maker, in this case Gerry replace the fridge HIMSELF. He has a high, no extremely high opinion of himself and needs to think that he is so clever that the little people are fooled.

Wizard said...

LGC – the hamster tapas trend, I was thinking Clarence would be into one-upmanship over Max so it would have to be something bigger than a hamster, hence I mentioned a gerbil, but I’ve given it some thought since then and all I can say is ratonthebeam better look out of it will be ratoninthetapis soon.

I’m sure K&G are well naffed off with Clarence for bringing negative press to their doors in case it spills over onto them. That of course would be outrageous as their pristine reputation could be damaged.

Stella said...

Exatly Joe

It's a bit like the urge to clean their apartment. If they employ cleaners at home, why do your own cleaning when on holiday?

Wizard said...

Stella,
I always think of CM's pink shirts as his trademark it goes with his rather camp delivery. As Joe pointed out he can't keep a straight tie.

Joe said...

Stella,

With regard to Mitchell not wearing a tie it looks naff as you say. He is so square he probably thinks its hip. Blair used to go into meetings a few years back with his jacket off, leaving just his shirt , again thinking it looked like he meant business. That was so shallow too and fooled nobody. If you want to be cool you have to look cool and sound cool. Mitch fails miserably on both counts.

Stella said...

Marga, hello

ratonthebeam said...

As regards the fridge, it was a freezer in the villa that they rented, and Gerry made a big song and dance on his famous blog about removing it, taking it to the dump, and buying a new one.

There was then a tiny, tiny snippet in (I think it was) the Times Online from the owner of the freezer, who was surprised it had broken down as it was relatively new.

Since then, both blog entry, and wee snippet in the paper, have looooonnngggg gone. As has, of course, the thread in the Mirror forum. (Although there is maybe something still on the 3As).

I know I read this for myself both in Gerry's Blog and in the paper at the time, but in those days it was still pretty much an investigation into a missing person, so I thought nothing more of it. Since then I have spent many, many hours trawling the internet, looking for it again, but so far, no luck.

I know I did not imagine it and neither did a lot of other people.

The pungent manure cloud could be here until Tuesday

By Emily Garnham for express.co.uk
LONDONERS were baffled this morning as a foul stench of faeces was reported drifting across the capital.
It is understood the smell, which has been blown across the Channel by strong winds, originates from northern Europe where farmers are currently fertilising crops with manure.

A wag on 3A’s has suggested in reply to this article that Clarence and the T9 are having a meeting in London at the moment.

I'm sure the freezer comment was real if you think you saw it. remember, my bit about the Sun dropping article that mentions Tanner told police initially that she saw someone who 'looked like the child's father.'

If the freezer was really changed and it was done by him at the villa that would tally up with fragments found in the boot of the car which had to have happened whilst they were in the villa. If the freezer thing is real who would change a freezer in your villa when you know you were being thought of as a potential murder of your child.

Surely to ensure no confusion or allegation you would employ a local electrics company to do your dirty work. He let other people search for Madeleine whilst calmly playing tennis and running (probably to discuss tactics with Kate)so why would he bother to dump an old freezer by himself ... unless...

This info I find quite compelling.

Stella said...

I could be wrong but at the point he changed it, they were not under suspicion and it was before Eddie and Keela were called in.

LGC, I haven't got a clue what CM might be doing now, but I never worked out what the hell he thought he was doing in the first place. I could have project a better image for the McCanns for less than the price of a case of Rioja

That's it,

Perhaps Pinky has told the clan, every time I appear on TV wearing a pink shirt, go to a public telephone box and dial a phone number he has recently given them, it could almost be like mission impossible, he has purchased in advance a dozen pay as you go phones and disgards them each time so they cannot be traced.

Hope the only problem is I don't think they understand my point and I don't understand theirs so we are talking at cross purposes I think. I always feel it is difficult for anybody to related to the written word, it depends how you read it. You cannot see the tone if you see what I mean.
I much prefer to talk to someone for me it is so much easier and although they may not agree they certainly do not get the wrong impression of how it was intended.

Must be off, see you later if I get time x

It is hard to put into writing what is easier said in words I am sure at the end of the day we would all be pleased if Madeleine was to arrive home unharmed and safe but I dont think that will happen and IMHO a 3 year old child should not just vanish and have parents who wont answer questions and a spin dr hired to speak for them it makes it look really bad...

Children first and then I will shut up xxx

Hi everyone

Just looking back in.

Hope I can't see the link from LGC either.

And here is the Long Range Forecast:_

Hi Gina

I admire your perserverance over there. I have not visited but from what I have heard it is not always pleasant.

Hope,

That was just a little test to see if you're concentrating (!).

Well done!

The chap did look a lot like him, strawberry blonde and all, perhaps this is why he has gone rather quiet, he has changed professions already. A great post by the way, but I do think he has had poor visability for a long time now.......

LittleGreyCell said...

Stella,

I think you should be careful saying someone looks like Clarence - might be costly!

Very interesting article from LGC.

I have always said Maddie looks far younger in that photo than others we have seen from the holiday. Also if you look at Amelie a shadowis cast on Gerry, which is what you would expect. Now look at Madeleine and no shadow is cast on Amelie. I paint with watercolours and during my training we were always taught to look at the shadows as they create the painting.

Bye Stella xxx

Di, I just gave up

Di

I have never taken much notice of the pictures but have just started to read the article and more paranoia is stiring LOL

Yes the shadows dont look right allthough to be truthful I know nothing about painting or what to look for...

I will go and have another look xxx

Just found this on one of the blogs. I think the author sums it up nicely. Come on then Clarence or has the cat got your tongue?

Clarence is not normally so slow to refute inaccuracies by the press or P.J, Carlos Anjos earlier this week called Clarence a liar and Machiavellian in relation to Clarence's claims that the "Mummy why did you leave us" leaks were the work of the P.J.
Carlos Anjos elaborated and said that the McCann team themselves were responsible, to give them an excuse to not return to Praia Da Luz to assist in the reconstruction!!
Normally Clarence would not let the grass grow under his feet in putting the public right with what he calls inaccuracies or unhelpful speculation, so what is keeping him from setting the record straight this time?..... HMM..I wonder!
Usually when Clarence feels a untruth has been printed we are blessed with his smarmy mug on every news media starting with GMTV, all news channels and then the press who are so far up his arse they print his words as if spoken by the messiah himself!
The fact that in this instance, Clarence has not responded is more telling than any bullshit he could come up with!!
Excuse the French.

Lorraine, that can't be right because he said the gloves were off, so I guess he must be winding up his killer punch.

Re-grouping perhaps!!!!

Joe said...

The gloves were off alright but the Mitchell boy was sucker punched by the PJ refuting his lies and allegations. Mitch did not see that coming. Hence he is now probably seeing a pink haze

I really must get myself an avatar I am feeling left out......

Can anyone tell me which sites to visit.

Di

You can save any picture you want to your PC and then use that (by magic it saves itself to your picture file)...

I got mine by going on Google typing in what I wanted then choosing images I think you right click on the image you want and press save as...

I will have a look xxx

Di said...

Thanks Hope..

hope4truth said...

Di

Yes when you have the picture you want click on it and then right click and choose save picture as and it opens a box to put it in and you can name it what you want to xxx

Mitchell has had the gloves off from the start. Anyway, don't think we should write him off too early. Must admit a few days of not hearing his words has been refreshing. Unsubstaniated, ludicrous, catergorically deny, etc etc

Reading Viv's interesting blog this morning makes me wish I'd become a lawyer! Eleven cases to brought - imagine all that lovely lolly they will be making between them! Let us hope that Murat matches every pound!! It should be an interesting trial! On the other hand, they will probably all settle out of Court - but not if the lawyers have their way I shouldn't think! I can imagine what the news is!!!

nancy said...

the last sentence should read:

"In can imagine the reaction to this news from the McCann team".

librarising said...

Thanks for the link Di. 'Sorley MacLean' made me laugh. Clarence Mitchell, bareknuckle streetfighter. Come on then, I'll have the lot of you.

librarising said...

Lorraine - yes those familiar Clarrie-isms, I'm missing them already - 'as ludicrous as it is nonsensical', 'utterly innocent explanations', and my favourite, 'Just Plain Daft'.

nancy said...

Wizard -

We've already seen that post supposedly written by 2345 - I have my doubts quite frankly because she rarely got a word wrong and she certainly wasn't word perfect in this blog.

It's someone trying to scare the s..t out of all of us and I would just ignore it - someone is obviously as mad as hell that Viv has made this blog members only!! It doesn't take too much working out who it is either!

librarising said...

Hey I did a search and found some glorious ones.

"rampant, unfounded and inaccurate speculation"

- and much else that shouldn't be forgotten:
(from Anorak News)
MPs Yellow Ribbons And Creepy Behaviour For Madeleine McCann

THEY’RE showing off their support for Madeleine McCann in the House of Commons. Gordon Brown’s eyes “filled with tears” (Sun) as he held the hand of Madeline McCann’s aunt Philomena.

Says Mrs McCann: “His eyes filled up with tears, he was every emotional…he said he would do as much as he possibly could.”

Touching isn't it.

Gina ,

The news of today was:

Madeleine McCann holiday flat up for rent
18/04/2008

To me it was a way to say that no matter what happens the reconstruction will soon take place in PDL because of the last paragraph.

A local paper claimed it will not be available until June because police need it for a reconstruction. Ruth McCann refused to comment.
