"They have suggested that blood has been found in a hire car that they hired 25 days after Madeleine was taken. How on earth could you hide a body for that long? We are in a hot climate.
"When this was put to Kate she was very taken aback. It was the first time she had heard the allegation and she actually swore at police."
Mr McCann's sister, Philomena, later revealed the plea bargain offered by detectives.

She said: "They tried to get Kate to confess to having accidentally killed Madeleine by offering her a deal through her lawyer, which was 'if you say you killed Madeleine by accident and then hid her and then disposed of the body, then we can grant you a two-year jail sentence or even less. According to one report, the police asked Mrs McCann, a doctor, whether she had sedated her daughter, leading to speculation that detectives think she may have accidentally given Madeleine an overdose.
Mr McCann, 39, expressed his own frustrationin his blog on the Madeleine campaign website, saying: "We will fight this all the way."
Police had told Mrs McCann before she went for questioning that they had 22 "difficult" questions to put to her further to the information she had given them during 11 hours of questioning on Thursday.

I do not think it would matter if the Tapas lot got the questions if the PJ have irrefutable evidence, but it would make a great deal of difference if the PJ were relying on the interviews to help make a case. If its true it fits in with all the conspiracy theorists from day one who claim that the Tapas have had lots of official help. I do not know what to believe anymore.

Thanks for the Daily Mail report about Robert Murat and stating therefore there must be no evidence against him.
I do wonder though if this is actually just pursuing an anti McCann agenda because I find it difficult to believe he has been prevented from seeing his little girl. There were reports he was in the UK a few weeks back when Malinka got his car fire bombed.
Just like the Express the Mail have printed many stories clearly indicating the culpability of Kate and Gerry McCann but have removed many of those, no doubt having also been threatened with libel proceedings...

Have read this on sos maddie re the documents , well wouldn't be surprised to be honest, the Home office is part of the Civil service so is/ was Clarrie. If the Government are protecting the Mccanns and we cannot be sure that they are not, it would be easy to make sure a copy of the documents went to CM, or anybody else for that matter, there is no way we can be sure either way though, remember the data loss, the Chairman of HMRC took the rap and resigned, but went on full pay and full pension so in effect lost nothing , just meant for the year prior to him retiring he left and was paid for not working, not a lot of punishment there. The Civil Service protect people at the top, suppose its the same everywhere. Lizzy

The article states that Sos Maddie has had access to the copied files that were copied so it is implying this was the case.
It is written in the conditional case in French which roughly translates as would be but reading further the article states the secrecy has been comprimised and documents copied. Whether this is true or not we can't know for sure, but wouldn't be too surprised personally. Lizzy

Not stopping at the moment, just looking in before supper...
If the Tapas Lot HAVE seen the papers, somebody's head needs to roll.
However, they've still had much time to collaborate and prepare their answers and, as I wrote yesterday, they must have quite an accurate idea of what the PJ want to ask them already.
But if we are to assume that they have now synchronized their story (necessary because they gave conflicting accounts of the evening to the PJ when originally questioned), any change in the details at this point - which there will undoubtedly be if they want to present a party line - will be evidence enough that some were/are not telling the truth - either last year or now.
And their 'recollections' of that night would be stronger when first questioned than they would be now, nearly a year later.
So they shot themselves in the foot way back then by not giving the police the same details when first questioned. How will they explain the discrepancies between their answers then and now?
Just a thought. Not sure how significant this will be regarding the outcome of the questioning this time around.

If Clarence had used former Whitehall contacts to gain access to the files, is it likely that anyone would get to hear about this? Of course not because both he and the person who disclosed them would be looking at several years jail.
As you also point out if they have synchronized their story now but did not do so in the early stages when their memories would have been fresh then it will simply demonstrate their lies.
I think we should also remember just three of the TAPAS were called back in July to deal with inconsistencies in their accounts, Fiona Payne, Rachel Tanner and Dr O'Brien! So they will now be quizzed at least three times.
Clarence Mitchell insists they will not be changing their stories. It will be a simple process to just compare all their different accounts and see whether that is the case. If inconsistencies remain that do not tally with what other witnesses are saying the inference to draw from this is more than obvious. There are many other witnesses available to the police, independent of the TAPAS and with no pact of silence, only saying what Gerry wants them to say as Mr Payne so helpfully pointed out...

Daily Star had a front page headline “Footy Cole a ‘wife beater’.
Imo Express Newspapers are no worse than any of the other media outlets but it is they who get sued. Are they an easy touch?

Oh god I hope they are not of any of the children in that family although whoever the children on the PC are they matter as well and I pray they are found and kept safe what a sick world...
It is amazing all the people in this world who will stand back and let children be abused the case in Jersey is going to blow wide open and many respected people will be shown for what they really are.
No one should lie for anyone if a child has been abused or hurt if they do they are as bad as the abuser maybe even worse because they know it is wrong.
Blimey I am so depressed over all this it seems our hands are tied there must be something the public can do to help protect children but you can hardly start interfearing or calling social services every time you think you have seen something.
Things need to change to put children first if everyone did this from birth there would not be gangs of kids intimidating people and comitting violent crime.
Invest in children and save money in the long run...

The move comes after the decision by police last month to return items of clothing and computers seized when he was made a suspect - or arguido - on 19 May, 16 days after Madeleine vanished from her parents' apartment in the resort of Praia da Luz in the Algarve.
Mr Murat's uncle, Ralph Everleigh, said: "Robert has been back to the UK for an emotional reunion with his daughter. He loves his little girl and has missed her so much this past year."
Mr Everleigh, who runs a guesthouse just outside Praia da Luz, said he thought Mr Murat was now on his way back to Portugal. Mr Murat was not available for comment today.
Mr Murat has always denied any involvement in Madeleine's disappearnce.
Despite searches of his mother Jenny's villa - about 150 yards from where Madeleine went missing - and forensic science tests on his car and other extensive inquiries, no evidence has been found to connect him to the disappearance.
Mrs Murat, 42, who lives in Hockering, Norfolk, said in a recent interview that Sofia had become the subject of kidnap threats.
She said: "There are a lot of weird people out there and if something happens to one innocent child they think an eye for an eye. They want to harm another innocent child - my daughter. We are living in constant fear."
She has said she has "no doubt" of her estranged husband's innocence, adding: "All he wanted to do was help the McCanns."
Portuguese detectives will visit the UK on Monday to re-interview friends of Madeleine's parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, who were dining at a tapas bar when the girl vanished.
In September, the McCanns were also made arguidos before being allowed to return to their home in Rothley, Leicestershire. They also protest their innocence.

Not looked back in for a while. I am so disappointed with the way this forum has gone today. I am convinced certain people like Arepa maybe, are trying to get this site closed down prior to the PJ arriving, I wonder why!!!!!!!
I think they are all getting a bit worried. However, if it is true that the McCanns have seen the evidence against them and have had time to arrange their defence, then I hope the PJs are aware of this, and if not, then they will be told, because this would be a dreadful miscarriage of justice.

I agree with your long term solution: invest in children, and save a fortune in pain and pay outs for the State in the long term.
However, fear not; no need to be despondent, in the short term. Tender hearted, tough minded professionals do advance children's interests, with the loyal support of the public.
Two examples: the NSPCC, and 'Child Victims of Crime', the only national charity run by the UK Police.
Both deal with the horrid detail of children, and their families, abused or worse. Both provide ongoing support, year after year, in the name of the public who give them donations.
Speaking of donations: the Find Madeleine Fund is not a charity. it is a public limited company with the priority of giving financial assistance to Madeleine's 'family'...the family who neglected her, and her baby twin siblings.
Donations have fallen since the public became aware that her parents were official suspects in her 'disappearance', and her parents paid for their mortgage out of the fund, and pay for her 'uncle' to sit at home, 'managing' the Fund.
Hopefortruth: there will always be fraudsters in this world. Only honest people can resist bullies and manipulators, and defend the weak, in my opinion.

How time flies. Not long until the PJ arrive (you know the same PJ who supposedly were never coming to interview in the UK) as Leigh3 has said lets hope 'the truth the whole truth' is said. As for the PT's authorities deciding not to waste time re-interviewing some people, I can understand that decision, IMO. I have been informed that one can no longer even read the pro blog without an invitation. Well, there are ways around that, but it's too time-consuming so who cares? Sure is a strange way to get their 'it was an abduction because she was gone' message to the wider public.
I have some information of special interest to them specifically. It has nothing to do with murder or Gerry, but as I shall not be able to read the response I will avoid posting the details for now. Suffice to say that if they pay VERY close attention to both print and broadcast media early next week they may 'meet' me. They would recognise me in an instant if they know where to look :-)

The goal by Portuguese police with the questioning of several witnesses on British soil, in the case known as the McCann Tapas 7 would be seriously compromised by the disclosure of the contents of the letters rogatory and part of The English version of the dossier.
The information is put forward by a source of Leicestershire Constabulary and confirmed by a copy of that document to SOS According to the same source, the content of the letters rogatory and parts of the dossier had been copied and sent to a former police officer, now in the private sector, close to a witness and interested in the progress of investigations.
After a few months of waiting, used by witnesses to prepare for the next interrogation, the Judicial Police is supposed to travel to the United Kingdom during the month of April in order to continue its investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
Several witnesses, and not least, have received from lawyers and former officers of the British police, and information on how to deal with questions prepared by the team of Paulo Rebelo. This was the case in November of last year when, after learning that the Judicial Police had intended to interview again, McCann and his friends met with several advisers of the couple.
Yesterday, a source of the British police claimed to the press that "the Portuguese authorities had requested that the contents of their application and form as it would be executed are kept confidential so as not to affect the ongoing investigation."
Inspectors from the Portuguese police wanted to keep confidential the contents of their files in order to take advantage of the surprise factor in its issues but also of their choice in the confrontations between witnesses. The copies we had access particular reveal that the police appealed to the testimony of other British holidaymakers who were able to prove their contradictions, and even lies, the initial statements by the group "tapas 7."
This is not the first time that the proper conduct of the investigation is affected by the interference of people well placed to the British authorities, including the police, acting individually or at the request of persons close advisers who surrounding the couple McCann and his friends.
In January, the head in communication and marketing of the couple who had McCann, in person, acknowledged receiving a briefing in private on the part of officers of the British police in connection with the investigation: "I held in private briefings by the police who assured me that the authorities completely, in this country (United Kingdom), treat this as a case of abduction by a stranger ", had said publicly Clarence Mitchell.

Thank you for the public feeling in the elections. I hoped that for the people it would be something that would be embraced but wasn't sure. Certainly, the papers portrayed it that way (the good papers) but you can never be certain about what you read.
I was in Germany when the wall came down. My familly called me and said what wonderful news it must be. I thought it was wonderful news for the families to be reunited with thier loved ones for so long and I also read the crosses that were a tribute to those who had tried to cross and died in their efforts. Unfortunately there was mixed opinion in the West as some of the Germans felt that thier economy would suffer with the dilution of poorer people from the East being free to enter, live and work in the West. There was much public scorn poured on the incoming eastern people and laughing at thier expense. Especially the trabants and clothes. Very sad & I will never forget it. I am sure things have settled now though.
