PHILOMENA MAY GET OFF PEOPLE FEEL SORRY FOR YOU..

SOME FLYING PENGUINS IN HONOUR OF ONE OF MY FAVOURITES CONTRIBUTORS LGC AND FOR ITS DEEP SYMBOLIC MEANING.

Philomena's false claims, the next day confirmed to be false by Kate's lawyer who warned her you may be charged..Kate was asked did you kill her, did you sedate her? 22 difficult questions for Kate, the next day, as an Arguida...

I recall there being reports of a syringe being found..blood spray?

No wonder the family got Philomena to just shut up!

On one of The Telegraph links going back to September it says:
Salacious reports of blood spots, intercepted phone calls and child sedation so far have been dismissed as nothing more than libellous slurs by the McCann family.

Ummmm, libellous eh?? We will see about that...(!)

Susan Healey, Kate McCann's mother:
"Anybody who knows Kate and Gerry knows it is absolutely ludicrous; I just can't describe it any other way.
"Kate and Gerry are relying on the Portuguese police but there is an uncomfortable feeling that they are not necessarily looking outwards for Madeleine but towards them.
"There are some questions which the Portuguese police are not allowed to ask unless the suspect has been charged.
"Kate and Gerry will answer any questions, it is in their own interests.

THEN WHY DONT THEY MRS HEALY? That is what we would all really like to know

WE would also like to you ask you why it took you such an agonisingly long moment to explain what Kate sounded like on the telephone to you when you appeared on Panorama, what were you afraid to tell us, Mrs Healy? Then you just told us "well she was upset obviously" UPSET??

Why do you think she was asking you to get in touch with the Priest Mrs Healy, did that make your heart run cold? What were thinking when she asked for that Mrs Healy?

"But I don't know if either of them has asked to be made a suspect." continued Mrs Healy...

In the Daily Mail there was an article Madeleine: Parents should be charged with killing daugther says Police

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=480915&in_page_id=1770&in_page_id=1770&expand=true

guess what happens when you click on the link for that story "article missing"....

I do not believe the Mail and the Express just made all these stories up, do you?

Freedom of the Press to tell it like it it? What happened to that?

Kate McCann accused of killing MadeleineBy Caroline Gammell in Portimao and Gordon Rayner
Last Updated: 2:26am BST 12/09/2007
Kate McCann has been warned she could be charged with the "accidental" killing of her daughter Madeleine after Portuguese police directly asked her whether she was behind the toddler's disappearance.
The claims and the case for the defence
Shocked response from friends and family
Full coverage: The search for Madeleine McCann
In an extraordinary twist, Mrs McCann's family said detectives now believed she caused the four-year-old's death in their holiday apartment, then hid the body before returning a month later to dispose of it.

Video: Crowds gathered to support - and jeer - Kate McCann as she returned to the police station in Portimao today
It was claimed that police had offered Mrs McCann a "deal" of a two-year jail sentence if she confessed and told them where the body was.
The astonishing developments followed the discovery of blood in a car the McCanns hired four weeks after Madeleine's disappearance 128 days ago, which police believe proves Mrs McCann killed Madeleine.
The allegation was dismissed as "ludicrous" by Mrs McCann's husband Gerry, while her parents said the police investigation had become "a joke".
Mrs McCann was declared a formal suspect, or "arguida" by police, who spent a second day questioning her in the Algarve town of Portimao before releasing her without charge five hours later.

Mr McCann was also questioned, but remains a witness rather than a suspect.
Mrs McCann has been warned by her lawyer Carlos Pinto de Abreu to be prepared for the fact she might now be arrested and charged.
A family spokeswoman, Justine McGuinness, revealed that Mrs McCann had been asked outright if she had killed her daughter, and was "shocked and angry" at the allegation, which she emphatically denied.
Miss McGuinness said: "They believe they have evidence to show that in some way she's involved in the death of her daughter, which of course is completely ludicrous.
Villagers back Madeleine McCann's parents
Timeline of Madeleine McCann's disappearance
Video: Kate McCann re-interviewed
"They have suggested that blood has been found in a hire car that they hired 25 days after Madeleine was taken. How on earth could you hide a body for that long? We are in a hot climate.
"When this was put to Kate she was very taken aback. It was the first time she had heard the allegation and she actually swore at police."
Mr McCann's sister, Philomena, later revealed the plea bargain offered by detectives.

Interactive graphic: The disappearance of Madeleine
She said: "They tried to get Kate to confess to having accidentally killed Madeleine by offering her a deal through her lawyer, which was 'if you say you killed Madeleine by accident and then hid her and then disposed of the body, then we can grant you a two-year jail sentence or even less. You may get off because people feel sorry for you'."
According to one report, the police asked Mrs McCann, a doctor, whether she had sedated her daughter, leading to speculation that detectives think she may have accidentally given Madeleine an overdose.
Mr McCann, 39, expressed his own frustrationin his blog on the Madeleine campaign website, saying: "We will fight this all the way."
Police had told Mrs McCann before she went for questioning that they had 22 "difficult" questions to put to her further to the information she had given them during 11 hours of questioning on Thursday.
Whistles and jeers mingled with shouts of support as she arrived at the police station today carrying Madeleine's favourite toy, cuddle cat.

Docmac,

Heathrow, eh? Well British Airways have thoughtfully designed a whole new terminal for those who don't like flying. It has one simple premise - no planes take off or land at it!

And if they do, passengers don't have to worry about any of that luggage-lugging malarky, 'cos all the cases have been sent to Italy! (By road. Hmm).

See how your flying nightmares are diminished piece by piece?

In all seriousness, Rescue Remedy is good, and even better when mixed with a large G&T! Did I tell you already that I went out with a pilot once (just the once, mind!) who told me that nothing much worried him about flying - it's the safest form of travel there is. A few days later I flew to California without so much as a sip of Rescue Remedy OR any alcohol. Amazing to those who know me.

I also have a friend who works as long-haul cabin crew, and I always think he - and thousands of others - wouldn't do the job, let alone adore doing it, if it was dangerous.

Don't know if this will help, but hope it does...

:)

A vacationing penguin is driving through Arizona when he
notices that the oil-pressure light is on. He gets out to
look and sees oil dripping out of the motor. He drives to
the nearest town and stops at the first gas station. After
dropping the car off, the penguin goes for a walk around
town.

He sees an ice-cream shop and, being a penguin in
Arizona, decides that something cold would really hit the
spot. He gets a big bowl of vanilla ice cream and sits down
to eat. Having no hands, he makes real mess trying to eat
with his little flippers.

After finishing his ice cream, he
goes back to the gas station and asks the mechanic if he's
found the problem. The mechanic looks up and says, "It
looks like you´ve blown a seal."

"No, no," the penguin replies, "it's just ice cream."

Charged: Craig MeehanA West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "A 22-year-old man has been charged with 10 specimen offences of possession of indecent images of children.

"In relation to the welfare of the family's children, it is being dealt with by social services.

"Police policy is we are not commenting on the welfare of the children."

Shannon was found hidden in the base of a bed in a flat just one mile from her home after a dramatic 24-day search by police.

She has been in the care of social services since she was discovered at the flat in Lidgate Gardens, Batley Carr, on March 14.

Meehan's uncle, Michael Donovan, 39, who lived at the flat in Batley Carr, was charged with her kidnap and imprisonment.

His trial has been provisionally set for November 11 at Leeds Crown Court.

Fishmonger Meehan has lived with Shannon's mother Karen Matthews, 32, in Moorside Road for around five years.

They share the house with three of Mrs Matthews' children, including Shannon, and the couple's own two-year-old daughter.

Some old reminders from:
http://www.channel4.com/news/articles/society/law_order/mccann+parents+speak+of+guilt/531672

They spoke about their feelings of guilt that they were having a meal at a tapas bar when their daughter was abducted from their holiday apartment. But they compared this to having dinner in the garden at home with their children asleep upstairs.

Speaking about the decision to leave the children as they did Mr McCann added: "We've tried to rationalise things in our head but ultimately what's done is done, we have tried to look forward.

"If you think about the millions and millions of British families who go to the Mediterranean each year, really the chances of this happening are in the order of 100 million to one"

"It's true to say the first two days we didn't eat much or sleep much but that was a few days and since then things have picked up and we have been able to be stronger.
---

I would not jepordice my childrens life in a 100 billion to one!
and for sure I would not feel stronger after a few days!

I agree that the McCanns started off the whole thing by leaving their children - no question of doubt. You should never leave children on their own - noone (neither pro nor anti) has ever said any different.

The only so-called evidence we know of was leaked by the PJ. They are happily telling of what the McCanns supposedly did to their daughter. The McCanns aren't allowed to speak so we are getting just the one side of the story. However, I do not believe that leaks to the press constitute "evidence".

Have a nice day Zodiac.

In Norwegian and Greek press, noone asked this question until Gerry was grilled in the USA.

Thanks again, you have been an eye-opener!

Hi Zodiac, I was about to ask Jackie the same thing. It seems depending what side of the fence a person is on, they choose to believe some newspapers and not others if the story suits. Better to believe none of them IMO. Considering the McCanns are not allowed to speak they seem to have managed to do enough interviews and say plenty as far as I can see.

Thank you for your kind words but I think I am only one of many who have had doubts from an early stage. In recent months I have had to restrict my participation (both as reader and contributor) as I found that the DX Forum was taking over my life. Just after Christmas I had to spend some weeks going "cold turkey" . I don't think I ever posted to the DX again.

Gina said...

Hi Niki, the only leak if there is one that concerns me is that the contents of the questions have been given to the Tapas group. Although only a rumour at this stage, it has been said that one of the Leicestershire police officers leaked them and has been removed from the case. Probably nothing more than rumour but if true it shows the British Police up in a bad light too. There are bad cops in all police forces which I think people tend to forget when it suits.

Anonymous said...

Niki/Gina,

Niki thanks for the old reminders, it is amazing what you forget, what is even more amazing is the statements that the parents and family of a supposedly abducted child make. Marga posted a link to an article yesterday, at the side there were little video clips, I clicked on the JMcC link as to why the children were left alone, that family IMO are unbeleivable and I refuse to swallow their spoonfed propaganda. Gina I read some of the newspapers although any opinion I have is by what I have heard and seen of them and what their family and friends say also. I have not subrscibed to the abduction viewpoint since first hearing about the situation on 4/5/07, based purely on the parents behaviour and their interpretation of events in the press/media and how glaringly obvious the press/media interviews were staged. Why did no journalist ask them from the very start, why were your children left alone?

Niki said...

ICTOAN,

Might have been many other "doubters" (like Viv) from the early stage, that got banned before I started reading!?

Anyway, I always admiered your posts, and hope you will continiue to contribute here every now and then!

Hopefully this sad story will see a conclusion soon, then we will all go "cold turkey"!

Have a nice day:)

Zodiac, I have always tried to keep an opened mind on this case, but I do not have tunnel vision and believe anything is possible and nothing would surprise me.

Although there is no set pattern of behaviour for parents of a missing child I do find the McCanns behaviour odd to say the least. (Tennis, jogging, etc etc. within hours of the "abduction") totally bizarre. However it is equally bizarre that they could do this if they had accidently killed Madeleine and disposed of her body.
Why they were not out searching and asking questions themselves is totally beyond my comprehension. They had plenty of friends there to take care of the twins (infact where were the twins when they went jogging early in the mornings)

I'm off now catch you later maybe

McCann abduction theory slammed

A senior Portuguese police officer has criticised Gerry McCann over fears his daughter's abductor was hidden in their apartment, it is reported.

Madeleine's father believes someone was hiding in her room when he went back to check on his children in the couple's holiday apartment in Praia Da Luz on the night of May 3.

But the head of Portugal's police federation, Carlos Anjos, said the claim was a "ridiculous episode" and accused Mr McCann of being "negligent".

Freedom of the Press to tell it like it it? What happened to that? - [quoting Viv]

Viv, I completely agree. I was actually quite shocked when the DE pulled all stories regarding the McCann case. Do the McCanns control the world's media now, do they? And then you get all the Pro's saying how great it is that the articles have been pulled because of the "disgraceful things" journalists had been saying about the McCanns. Well firstly, "disgraceful" is in the eye of the beholder, and secondly, it is NEWS, even if sometimes it is embellished by individual reporters (which happens both in favour of AND against the McCanns). We in the public are entitled to the news, even if there is a small minority of nut-cases that think the media should be muzzled. I don't always like everything that is "reported" in the media either. I often wonder how much of what I'm getting is fact, and how much is just pure journalistic fantasy. However, I'd rather read each and every story and take them with all with a grain of salt, then only be able to access those stories that some other person out there (and in this case, the suspects in a criminal investigation!) have told me I'm allowed to see!

Finally, I wonder what sort of precedent the DE and McCann incident sets for the Free Press? I wonder how many other people now, with money and the right connections, will start putting their foot down about what the rest of us are allowed to see?

2345 said...

gina,

It's a wind up - there's no record in Chambers of any such judgment being made on basis of 'no evidence' - PR spin/media manipulation.

How would you a mere granny of joe public who believes in innocent until proven guilty know any of the information in your post as fact? I have asked you time and time again, what is it evidence of an abduction? Yet you never answer that question. The only evidence facts we have are that 3 little children aged 3 and under were left in a holiday flat all on their own. Why are you posting on here, when you have an invitation only blog. Double standards, we will play on your court (as in tennis) however you cannot play on ours. Do you post here because you are fed up posting to yourself? 2345 I was just confused by Rosipops statement I wasn't sure if she was saying you said the judge said there was no evidence or she was saying the judge said that. I just stick to bog basics, and to my reckoning if the judge feels there is no evidence he would not have authorised further questioning. Whether there is enough evidence to actually convict remains to be seen - or whether, as the McCanns claim, there are innocent explanations also remains to be seen. All I can say is that IF there are explanations they should be ashamed of themselves for not volunteering them sooner in order to prevent so much speculation and unnecessary comments against themselves and their friends and family - Poor little Madeleine hardly gets a mention anymore

As you well know, I've been through hell and high water for continualling repeating hard evidence released by our Police.
Eddie & Keela confirmed death - FSS results uphold it.

In defence of PJ Mr Paula Cristovao publicised British Government's interference in this case. This is the cause of all problems - the Police solved the 'mystery' last July.

Gina said...

Rosiepops, thank you for your reply and I take your point. Perhaps you would also like to take the point that none of us know exactly what the PJ did or did not do either.

If you want my honest opinion, I do not think we will ever know the truth and the McCanns will remain guilty in some peoples mind and innocent in others. Sad but true and nothing any of us say or do is going to change that. I just hope there is not a bent UK copper working on this case too because the Portuguese will jump on that after all the insults they have taken.

All this, blogger against blogger, rudeness and prejudice against nations, etc etc etc all because two people did not have the thought to pay a baby sitter - unbelievable.

I have just read what everybody has said and I have totally lost the plot and am not giving myself a headache over this anymore. Rosie thinks the PJ are never coming, well they have to do something even they know that. 2345 is convinced there is enough evidence, maybe so, so bloody well charge them and get it over with.

At the end of the day none of this is doing Madeleine's memory any good whatsoever. I know there have been a lot of prayers for her safe return but nobody seems to be listening. At the very least I had hoped by now she would be found and laid to rest but regrettably not even that. My views will never change no matter what the outcome. The McCanns made themselves celebrities and only have themselves to blame if they are getting the backlash from that.

I hope we never see another case like this ever again. Going down the garden centre for some therapy

Just read your post, I am off out in a minute. Yes you were put through hell and high water and like me you got banned from the DE for having an opinion. I have a lot of respect for you 2345, as you say 'united we stand'.
Look at the hypocrisy applied today, the other blog invitation only and they cannot stay away from here. Now where are all the Anons, oh looks like they are still posting. They could re-name their blog, A Blog Called Hypocrisy.

Innocent McCanns? Yes, there are a few innocent McCanns - Shawn, Amelie, and most of all, Madeleine.

The others, I don't trust. Why should I? If their own children cannot trust them to protect them, and not leave them alone to go to dinner with their holiday friends, why would I ever do so?

Zodiac, this is exactly what happened to me, and I came back into DE as "Belinda". I made it obvious I was really Bianca and even had the same avatar. I knew it was only a matter of time before Belinda got banned (and she/I did) because I knew that the Pro's knew I was really Bianca and would simply report me to the mods again (for my "venomous, anti-McCann views" and "off-topic talk"). But I didn't care. There were just a few more things I wanted to say to them and that was all. I knew "Belinda" would be almost instantly banned, and she was! If people hassle me about having another name, I don't care in the slightest! I made it obvious why I was doing it and was only "Belinda" for about 4 posts!

Bianca,

I will never compromise my morals regarding child neglect. The 3 children were quite simply neglected, no sugar coating platitudes can change that, child neglect is a crime in the UK and Protugal and is most certainly not the British Culture, IMHO. It has to be adressed not ignored. How any Charity can allow anyone who has neglected their children to attach themselves to it is bizarre. The Amber alert, are the Police, Social Services etc responsible for the system if and when it is implemented, how can anyone take it seriously if the very parents that neglected their children and as result one vanished are associated to it. It is claimed an Amber alert would have saved this child. How would it have saved her? Providing proper childcare would have prevented her going missing. Those children were in danger of many other tradegies occurring, let alone abdduction. IMHO.

I have examples of your split-blogging personalities should you like to see them, which I can furnish you with tomorrow. (Off for a hospital appointment soon so haven't the time to do this today).

To Zodiac,

I too feel strongly about the child neglect issue, and in a way, feel that it has become even bigger than simply the McCann case now. I see all the time at the Pro blog that the "slack parent brigade" have really come out of the woodwork. These people are apologists not only for the McCanns, but often for their own slack parenting, with some even seemingly bragging about how slack they are, and how many "near misses" they have had when almost losing their children. Now, I find this vile, and for as long as there is a platform for me to speak openly, I am going to have my say about it!

The McCanns drew attention to the devastating effects of child neglect, and also to the fact that "neglect" does not always mean a runny-nosed child with parents on benefits, left to play outside in the dark! Neglect can happen in all stratum of society, even among the privileged. Madeleine, imo, was treated more like an expensive handbag than a child. She was loved, I'm sure, but only to a point. When mum and dad wanted to socialise, Madeleine and her brothers and sisters simply got in the way, and were relegated back to the hotel room, along with the suitcases and the sunblock. It may be at first considered "a bit slack", but as we can see from the devastating results (i.e., Maddy's disappearance), it was full-on neglect. This is a position also held by a top American social worker (ask Docmac for the link if you haven't seen it yet) who states with certainty that the McCanns are "culpable for their daughter's disappearance". I will always maintain that the McCanns and anyone who supports their behaviour are completely and utterly supportive of child neglect!

As far as Amber Alerts, I'm sure they are a great idea, but ultimately, isn't prevention better than cure, especially when dealing with something of such vital importance as the lives of children? Certainly, in the case of the McCanns, such an "alert" would never, ever have been necessary, if they'd only so much as stayed in with their children and gotten room service that night! To suggest that Madeleine's disappearance is somehow the police or the government's fault and not the direct fault of her parents is complete bunkum and arrogant in the extreme. Furthermore, I agree completely with you that had madeleine not gone missing, there were plenty of other things that could have befallen her. Like I have asked the "pro's" many times before - would the McCanns neglect perhaps have been more obvious to them if Madeleine had swallowed medicine or toilet cleaner, or been found floating face up in the swimming pool? Because these are all fates that could easily have befallen her, given the appalling, unsupervised state her parents left her and her siblings in (not just that night but several others!).

Thank you and since when, I ask myself, has it been a criminal/libellous offence to recite critically important information released by the Police ?? !!!

My cousin's worked in Government for years; she told me months ago that it's common knowledge amongst staff that the McCanns are being protected as Brown does not want the McCanns to be found guilty.

Police found the reason for Madeleine's disappearance last July. All I've ever done is repeat the facts they released.

The truth is FSS information broadcast last September did not suit those responsible and those protecting them. The fight Gerry referred to in the article is fighting the Police and damning findings !!

Brown will ensure PJ's dossier of evidence is not presented to prime suspects for requestioning. McCann protectors will ensure they evade facing unanswered questions/new ones based on new evidence since. Standard tactic is media spin and lies .....

Back to the McCanns -

As far as (accidentally) killing Madeleine is concerned, there are just a few things I can not get past and have never been able to from when this case became public. Again, if anyone has good, plausible theories as answers to my questions, I'd love to hear them:

* If they killed her, why did they draw so much attention to themselves? They made a huge hullabaloo, turned the world's media on themselves, and used big name people - everyone from Richard Branson to the Pope - to help them do it. Would you really do this if you had killed your daughter and were hiding her body?

* Where on earth did they hide the body for 25 days (in the hot climate of Portugal) before supposedly, taking it to another location in the hire car?

* If they DID drive the body away in their hire car, where did they drive it to, and why has the body never been found?

* If they had killed her (even accidentally) and knew this, could they really be so relaxed as to play tennis and go for runs in the days afterward? (I can believe they were cold enough to do this while knowing Maddy was missing, but could they REALLY be so relaxed if they, in fact, knew she was dead and they had killed her? Wouldn't they be too nervous, knowing any second that the the cops could spring them?)

* If Madeleine had died and her body hidden, how was it all done so quickly (without a single soul knowing other than Kate and Gerry?). If members of the Tapas 7 DID know all about it, why are they all keeping so quiet? It's one thing to want to protect your career, but surely one of them would have cracked by now?

I am more prepared to believe that Madeleine was abducted, and that the reason the "checking" stories all conflict, and Jane Tanner's "bundleman" at first, was faceless, and then, had a face, is because they were all worried about getting done for child neglect so quickly tried to cover themselves by saying they'd regularly been checking the kids (but in their haste, the stories didn't match up). Jane T panicked and said she'd seen a man in order to make it look like it was "all a predators fault", he'd been "staking them out" etc, so attention would go on the so-called "predator" and not on the Tapas Group for regularly leaving their small children unattended.

Bianca 12.23pm,

Well said. I agree.

Claudia,

My eldest is 24 this year, oh boy do I feel old.

Anonymous said...

This is an interesting article JoJam. I didn't actually realise that the McCanns would be allowed to request that certain people are interviewed. If they have nothing to do with Madeleine's abduction, I hope it all comes out soon and that their names are cleared. However, I think they should pay back the fund money that got put into their mortgage - either send it back to the individuals who donated, or put it back into Madeleine's or another missing child/ren's fund. I also think that they should be formally charged with neglect (even though apparently, the time for this has officially passed) and that they should either be heavily fined, made to do community service, or possibly even jailed for whatever the usual term is.

Anonymous said...

I know that the PJ have bigger things in mind than neglect and are putting together a complete case, but if they don't have enough evidence to prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt, I still think it's only fair (if possible) that the McCanns are somehow punished for their neglect. Otherwise, they come out of this whole thing Scott-free and that just doesn't seem right to me.

Jojam said...

Bianca
I would not consider living with the guilt of leaving Madeliene & the conequence of doing so, getting of scott free!

Anonymous said...

Jojam,

It is getting off Scott-free when you consider what Madeleine must have gone through.

If people accept that Madeleine was abducted, then they must accept that she most likely endured (and quite possibly, is still enduring) terrible things. Rape, torture, and probably murder, come to mind. Now, how does this suffering compare with "living with the guilt"??

I'm sorry, but it just doesn't!

Do you think that if Kate and Gerry had been in the hotel room that night that Madeleine would have been taken? Of course not! She was taken because her mum and dad WERE NOT THERE when they bloody well SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE! Those kids were infants - babies. I would not leave a 15-year-old on their own in a foreign hotel room, let alone three children under the age of 4! And it makes no difference if they were left for two minutes or half an hour. A child that small can put a marble in their mouth and choke to death in a matter of seconds, so going back regularly to supposedly "check the kids" means nothing .. absolutely nothing!

If Kate and Gerry walk away from this without so much as a slap on the wrist, not only is it a crime against Madeleine, but a despicable precedent to set for all future neglect cases!

"Living with the guilt" indeed!!

Anonymous said...

Bianca,

I totally agree with you. They should be charged with neglect, I know there has been suggestion that charges should made within six months however do we not know when they were made Arguido/a in Sept. 07 this provision was not made in the likelihood that they would not be charged for the speculated offences. The neglect should not be ignored and they should not be allowed to be involved with missing children organiziations, especially whilst still Arguido/a, IMHO. Whether it is a suspended sentence or the suggestion you make it is only morally right IMHO. Otherwise it sends the message neglecting children is acceptable.

Anonymous said...

Jojam,

Everyone is accountable for their own actions. Legally and morally.

Anonymous said...

I know Zodiac, it does seem weird that they are allowed to travel the world and go to conferences held by other missing children organisations, and yet they are still suspects in the case of their OWN missing child ..??

I'm not sure how that works, but it does seem bizarre! (not to mention unethical).

Yes, I know it's only meant to be within six months that you can charge for neglect in Portugal, but according to Viv, "neglect" may be one of the charges included in the PJ's "manslaughter" case against the McCanns, so in theory (well, MY theory .. am not sure!) if the case goes to trial and they don't actually get charged with killing Madeleine, the "neglect" part of the case may stick and they will at least get charged with that.

Not sure if it can work that way but it seems plausible.

You are correct. Ultimately, I see it as highly immoral if the McCanns are not at least in some way punished for their neglect - not just as it pertains to them but for the precedent it sets.

Jojam said...

Bianca,

I can understand your view but To live with that Guilt is not getting off scott free.........You may well think they should be charged with neglect but that will not bring Madeleine back will it?

Zodiac,
Yes I agree everyone is responsible for their own actions, including what they write, morally & legally.......Pity some on here do not realise they can be held accountable for what the have written

Anonymous said...

Jojam,

No, it won't bring Madeleine back. But if the McCanns ARE formally punished for their neglect, it may just scare off other parents who have previously been slack and selfish with their child care, and make them think twice before leaving small children on their own at night time, or letting them wander off on their own to parks, etc.

The less 3-year-olds left behind in hotel rooms in foreign countries while their parents go out drinking, the better.

Anonymous said...

Ooooh dear Jojam, are the big bad McCanns going to come along and sue us all, are they?

We've all got to be frightened because mummy and daddy McCann might not like what one of us are saying??

Well let me tell you something darlin', these two child-neglecting cretins do not own the world. Furthermore, we are only discussing things here that have already been released by the world's media, so in that, are not saying anything "libelous". In normal cases, those in which Government does not involve itself,
the Police decide who will or will not be questioned in their investigations. Suspects do not dictate to Police.

Last statement from PJ was that they were preparing for a minimum two month stay in Britain to primarily re-interview McCanns.
They required answers to original questions and new questions arising from further evidence. PJ's list includes McCann associates, CM, police witnesses, i.e. waiters and Tapas group.

PJ's visit has been reportedly reduced to 3 days; Tapas group only - questions subjected to lengthy delays and Home Office 'consent'. CM ex Home Office excluded.

Police appear not to be at liberty to interview 'spontaneously', as is normal. It's also 'reported'
PJ want the case 'wound up' by 11th April. Prosecutor's perspective, based on PJ's dossier of evidence is Court and Court judgement. Reason case was not closed months ago.

To this end, Court, and Prosecutor's ruling on evidence, PJ were preparing for a lengthy two month stay, arrival due early March.

Why has their visit been reportedly cut from 2 months to 3 days ?

CM, by association with Metado 3's highly illegal involvement and corrupt behaviour was hardly going to face police questioning any more than the McCanns. CM ensured ALL M 3's labours - false witness accounts were given press coverage.

It seems steps have been taken to ensure ex civil servant CM and McCanns evade Police interviews and lengthy questioning - standard police procedures PJ intended commencing in early March.

Prosecutor's examination of PJ's dossier confirms there IS a case to answer. If NOT, he would have closed the case months ago.

It's detrimental to Prosecutor and PJ NOT to re-interview and re-question prime suspects and CM - his PR antics have jeopardized and undermined two police forces for months.

What is the point in Police speaking only to Tapas group ?

None .... in line with Prosecutor's ruling PJ have waited SEVEN months to requestion McCanns and the same length of time for critical evidence, computer, diary and cuddle cat.

The exiry date for 'arguidos' is
14th April.

The Police and public have been led a very merry dance .....

Should you not be in bed? No way would Rat pull a trick like that.

Hi Hope4

Jackie is Sassy (someone will now deny it).

Hi ICTOAN

Thanks for the link. More confirmation that G&K know for sure that Maddie will not be found before May 3. or at any time in the future. By found, I mean alive of course. Be that as it may, I seem to recall them saying they had no problem taking a polygraph. Their lawyers instructed them not to do this. I expect much the same will happen here. Just the two of them trying to milk the sympathy vote again IMO.

Hello Claudia, I see you're about with finger poised!

Hope4Truth - I think you are right. Rat is a pretty upfront, pretty articulate person, and I can't imagine her playing those sorts of games (even though it's only the internet and reality, you can never be sure). She seems intelligent, friendly, and far too mature to hide behind an "anonymous" tag in order to get at someone. I guess I'll just have to ask her about it when she gets back (unless she pops in before then). You're right though - pushing the "paranoia" button can be quite an effective tool. I guess the trick is just to stay calm, think logically, and try to remember that at the end of the day, it's the internet, so there's no point getting paranoid because in reality, you didn't really know who anyone was to begin with anyway!

Gina - I'm pretty sure it's just a sh*t stirrer too. I sure hope so anyway, because I really like Rat.

:-)

Hi Doc, don't know if you noticed but I outed you at 9.16 this morning :-)

See you later HOPE. Enjoy your evening xx

Hi DOCMAC - Yeah, as I say, I don't think it's really her, but it was really off-putting at first when I read the message. Yes, I should be in bed, but often take advantage of the later (well, earlier) hours to do things I don't get a chance to during the day - like talking on this blog! LOL

JOJAM - Well what do you expect when you come in here and say things like "people in here obviously don't realise they can be held accountable for what they say"!! What about all the horrible, defamatory stuff you lot say about the Portuguese police?? How DARE you threaten libel!

Unknown said...

Jojam

Welcome, I read you on the Pro blog trying to talk some sense into them before they made it private. Providing you are not abusive to other posters you are welcome here.

Claudia - thanks!

Hello all!

Rosie has been telling us for several weeks the McCanns would return to Portugal to "wreck their tourist industry just as the season commences".

Now we have this announcement by Clarence Mitchell, confirming they would like to send out a clear message of their innocence by doing so, but this all depends on the outcome of the police interviews..so if it goes bad for them they will not go back, and if it they perceive it went well for them they will. Does not sound to me like a genuine offer to go back!

More a question of how the spin takes us, on their own admission.

If they really felt the need to go back for this anniversary and they were innocent why would they bother to hedge their bets in this way? Criminals do of course, fear arrest!

---------

The McCanns' spokesman Clarence Mitchell said today: 'Kate and Gerry are currently deciding whether to return to Portugal. It is being discussed.

Scroll down for more...

Madeleine McCann has been missing since May 2007

'Going to Portugal would send out the strongest possible message that Madeleine could still be alive and the search for her should continue. The family feel the focus should be on finding Madeleine.

'Next week's interviews will help in gauging the police attitude. In an ideal world they would not be arguidos and their lawyers have always warned them not to return while they have that status.

But they want to be in Praia da Luz for the first anniversary,' he said.

JoJam" came in here threatening libel charges. Is that "charming"??

I did not..........this was your interpretation.........could it be that you have written some things that you now regret? 'If the cap fits wear it'

I am in no position to threaten anyone I was just agreeing with zodiac...................
I wrote...
Zodiac,
Yes I agree everyone is responsible for their own actions, including what they write, morally & legally.......Pity some on here do not realise they can be held accountable for what they have written.

Unknown said...

Jojam

"to be held accountable" clearly implies a threat against my posters. They are here exercising their right to freedom of speech on articles that I post, clearly in the public domain.

If you threaten people on here, you are not welcome.

Anonymous said...

Jojam,

Rather weak reply. What is there to be held accountable for by not agreeing in verbal or written form that child neglect is wrong, immoral and illegal. Madeleine McCann is missing because she was left alone with her brother and sister in a holiday flat whilst her parents were elsewhere. Please tell me what is morally or legally wrong by objecting to that and not accepting it as responsible parenting and the British Culture, because the McC's and CM say so?
I am entitled to my opinion.

Anonymous said...

Jojam,

You really must get this idea out of your head that I regret anything I say. If I was going to regret it, I would never say it. As far as I am concerned, a little girl is missing and it is ALL her parents fault. They admitted to leaving the kids on their own, so if I then complain about it (i.e., their admission), what is the problem??

Well what does "held accountable for what they have written" mean, if not libel charges? How ELSE can you hold someone "accountable for what they have written" if not by taking them to court and charging them with defamation? Are you suggesting you can hold them accountable by smacking them on the bum, or taking away their lollipop, perhaps?

Anonymous said...

Jojam,

I regret nothing, as I have stated from Oct. 07 at the DE until now.
Child neglect is immoral, illegal and most definitely unacceptable no matter who commits it. The 3 children in question IMHO were neglected, they were left alone to fend for themselves aged 3,2 & 2 open to all kinds of danger let alone abduction. Do not try to threaten me, freedom of speech allows me to have an opinion.

Jojam said...

Bianca,

I have never said any thing horrible about the PJ or the McCanns' so I would appreciate it if you would treat me as an individual not one of a 'lot' I also ask you please if you must quote me do it accurately.

I suggest you think before you type.........read & edit before you post

Have a nice evening

Well Jojam, sorry if I've lumped you in with the proles unfairly, but you must admit, you DID make a threatening comment in here about libel, which is a very "pro-blog" thing to do!

Anyway, I wish you a good evening also.

Good afternoon everyone

Saw this posted on 3As yesterday by Elibean, does anyone know if there is any truth in it?

Just posting something I have been sent......this does NOT come from my sister, and I have no real way of knowing whether or not it is for real....but the track record so far has been good

"yeah, i know that 2 are definitely here and the rest to follow on monday, although i've been told sunday.

the mccanns will arrive in portugal on friday 11th, judge will review case on monday 14th. murat will be released from arguido status. mccanns will have access to files from monday 14th possibly. the reason i say this is, i've have found out that charges may be made on the 14th possibly the 11th. when charges are made , suspects are allowed access to files.

lawyer for mccanns confirmed on portugal tv today that they may have access to files on the 14th. sky news has this on their interactive now.

as i said a long time ago, they were always going to portugal on the 11th or 14th. looks like my sources were correct, so i have no reason to doubt any pf the above.

its all coming together quite nicely."

"also 2 officers from SOCA and 2 from scitland yard serious crime office will also be present at some interviews next week"
He told me that, again, it's fine to pass these on.

Jojam/Bianca I think one of the problems is that we are all classed as either this lot or that lot which is unfair. We all are individuals with our own opinions and would probably beable to compromise some of our views if we were not labelled IMO

Di maybe some has access to the easyjet bookings for those dates and can check it out :-)

With freedom of speech comes responsibility & accountability.

Those who do not abuse the freedom and behave responsibly have nothing to fear if they can justify what they say and it is not libelous. so why should your posters feel threatened?

Anonymous said...

Gina,

I do not consider myself an anti McCann, I neither hate, love or feel sorry for them I am indifferent towards them. I do not love M, I do not know her, my love is solely for my family and friends. I do feel a tremendous amount of sympathy for M, she has been badly let down by the people that mean the world to her. If this poor little soul is still alive I feel so very sorry for her and do hope she is not being ill treated, still hoping that some poor misguided soul/s have her and treating her as their own and looking after her well. If I am Anti anything it is child neglect, if that offends some then tough, do not read my posts. I do not subscribe to the abduction viewpoint quite simply because not one 'pro' (their label not mine) can convince me that it happened. What happened to this little girl I do not know and do hope the PJ solve the case. I agree there should be no labels, however some people cannot manage without them.

Viv,

Once again many thanks for this blog, a place to get a perspective from like minded people. All your info is very much appreciated by me.

Anonymous said...

Gina - I used to think that too, but after going over to the Pro blog and trying to be diplomatic with them, and even having them be quite diplomatic with ME, I realised that ultimately, we are not similar people. Even if we can agree on certain minor points, the big, important things will never be in sync, as the two mindsets (pro verses anti) are just too different! And it goes beyond just the McCann case; it's a general attitude toward life . Some of the things they say over there, that they just take as "normal", are absolutely outrageous to me, and I know it's the same in reverse (i.e., they are disgusted by things I say!). I don't understand them, and I have spent enough frustrating, hair pulling sessions in their blog and at the DE to know that they don't understand me! I don't know what it is .. just different people?? I'm smart enough to to realise that there may be some people at the Pro blog who have a vested interest in not "understanding" me.

There's a reason that the original posters at the DE split into two, distinct groups. Maybe some "anti's" would disagree with my view, I don't know, but certainly, this is the conclusion I have come to after all these months!

I have read posts from Elibean before, and if I remember they have turned out to be correct. Although, I notice this information has come via a different source and not from her sister. I wish I could remember how her sister gets the info but can't. Maybe 2345 can!

Docmac,
Sorry I had to disappear yesterday.
I am sorry, but I do not trust people in exile and the headings like: White farmers are coming back, do not inspire me. And I do not believe, having knowledge of the region, that the mane population ever gained from prosperity of the country.
Opposition that pays with foreign money for a vote is not better then government that frightens population to vote.
Anyway we all know what it is about, like in Iraq.

Sorry to go off track, but the disinformation about Zimbabwe is of the same origin as UK disinformation about McCanns.

Jojam,

With parenting comes responsibilty and accountability.

Those who do not neglect their children for their own freedom and behave responsibly have nothing to fear. IMHO.

Anonymous said...

JoJam - nobody here "fears" libel. They know it is a bunch of crap and that they can not be charged with it.

What they don't like (abhor) is people threatening it, because it is so arrogant, stupid and rude.

We know we can't be charged with libel, but we know you THINK we can, so what angers us (well, me anyway), is your (and others) nerve to think you can come in here and "scare" us or stop us from saying what we want to say.

It's not the "libel" that upsets us (because it isn't real), it's you! (and others like you).

Di said...

Pro or Anti

I have never liked the above labels.

If ever I am discussing the case with friends or family I always use the words, believer or none believer, and I am talking about the facts that we are aware of.

None of us know anything for sure, but we are still entitled to an opinion.

Gina said...

Zodiac, hats off to you for your total honesty. I guess I share many of your views too. In the beginning I had nothing but pity for the McCanns and what they must be suffering as I did not think it possible could be anything other than an abduction. However as time has gone on and I have seen for myself this totally unnecessary media circus that they have created, the online shop, the OTT funding that has been given to them it does anger me that they do not know when to stop ( I do not mean looking for their child IF she is missing). Madeleine as sweet as she is, is one of many and to give one child this much attention is wrong IMO. I have lost respect for the McCanns totally for many reasons and although like you I am indifferent towards them it still angers me that they still intend to make films and books about this and I do not think the money will go direct into a fund for ALL missing kids. I will wait and see on that one.

Yes, I saw that :-) Naughty you, but at least I'll have an audience of one while Rosiepops on his unicycle and Supertroll with his protest banner heckle in the background.

Sorry, got called away to help find a colleague's broom. Claims she went for a meal and when she returned to check it had vanished. There have apparently been a few unsubstantiated sightings of a swarthy fellow hanging around the broom cupboard which was left unlocked. Everyone is now chipping in to a fund to help find the broom and the broom thief.

Gina said...

Bianca, I know exactly what you mean, been there, don't it, got the tee shirt and gave up

I personally dislike the McCanns. I can not help that. I can not feel "indifferent" to people who obviously have such a low regard for their own children and children in general. However, I think the punishment should fit the crime, and to date, and with all the "evidence" that has been presented in the media, from what I can see their only crime is neglect. Now don't get me wrong - this is a huge crime, and this huge crime is the main reason I can not stand them. However, it is still not murder, or even manslaughter (although, it could possibly neglect leading to manslaughter). If they are innocent of direct involvement in Maddy's abduction, then I think they should be released from their arguido status and have their names cleared. It's only fair. However, what about the neglect? Should that go permanently unpunished? I don't think so. If neglect charges are part of the overall case that will be presented by the PJ if it ever gets to trial, then I hope the PJ at least win this charge, and the McCanns are jailed for at least a year or made to do community service as punishment.

Gina 17.14pm,

I believe honesty is always the best policy. I totally agree with you regarding that all missing children are of equal importance. I also agree about the books, films etc it is in such bad taste and so disrepectful. IMHO. I also agree that I do not think any of the money will go to a fund for ALL missing children. Read you later. BBFN.

Bianca,

The libel threats are really becoming boring and to me a huge indication of desperation, despair etc. I honestly do not think Rat would say anything to you as an Anon, as Gina says just another S stirrer. Read you another day, Bianca. BBFN.

Gina said...

Bianca, stop getting yourself in a fizz about it hun. Far short of a minor miracle, they are going to walk away from any charges, neglect and any others that may be appropriate. Remember the saying "it is not what you know it is who you know, and in this case what the who you knows can do"

Off now may catch you all later xx

It's not the white farmers who are returning. They have been given huge tracts of land in Mozambique and Zambia, amongst others. They also have access to government grants which they did not get back home. It is the native Zimbabweans wanting to return, those driven out by poverty, famine and Mugabe's henchmen. With inflation running at 100 000 percent the price of basic commodities doubles a few times daily. Do you know that the notes required to buy a loaf of bread (if available) weighs around 10 pounds?! Tsvangari has already stated that his first action will be to float the Z dollar, not just print more money. Perhaps being closer to the 'action' we get more news regarding Zim than the UK does. It takes up pages 1 to 4 in the Cape Argus this evening, plus most of the editorial page.
