KATE THEY PLANTED DNA;GERRY THEY LISTEN TO EVERY WORD

Reality dawns...? Kate, September 2007

Here Kate and Gerry cleary acknowledge the DNA evidence against them and confirm Police are listening to every word they say following discoveries made by the dogs, forensic experts/British and Portuguese Police in early August...absurd claims are made the abductor or should I say the evil predator who makes Gerry sick to the very core "planted" evidence..that did provoke one of my more satirical posts last night I am afraid..It is quite amazing how toned down the news is now but I did predict this as we got nearer to the McCanns being charged, we do want them to get a fair trial, in accordance with their human rights. Childrens human rights should be recognised far more than they are, they are not the possession of their parents to smack and dump, from further posts I have been reading from certain pros the last few days, this message clearly is not being put across strongly enough..Maybe at the end of all this we can collectively petition the government to do far more to publically educate parents on national TV etc about childrens rights and what constitutes being a decent parent and ..what does not! It is not a question of being "perfect" human beings are imperfect, it is about having values and respect for others. This applies in all areas of life. To some, any person that is different to them, does not deserve respect, it is very sad when they look upon children differently thinking they have the right to assault them, that attitude really does need to change. Swedishmum posted yesterday it is unlawful in Sweden, that is a law change I would personally back because it highlights to parents that it is unacceptable to bully and abuse your own children. How more fundamental issues of why some parents can only think of themselves and not their children can be resolved is another matter. Small steps, no easy or quick fixes any more than the prosecution of Kate and Gerry McCann was ever going to be quick or simple x

Portuguese police tapping McCanns' phone calls and emails
McCanns believe evidence was planted - either by police or Madeleine's abductorLast updated at 17:49pm on 11th September 2007
Comments (10) Portuguese police have been tapping Gerry and Kate McCann's mobile phone calls and hacking into their emails since early August, it has been claimed.
Under Portuguese law, police can tap phones or emails if they believe it will help solve a serious crime.
A family friend of the McCann's said: "Gerry told me police are listening to every word they say and reading every email they write."

Kate McCann is also said to believe that the DNA evidence, on which the case against the McCanns appears to hang, has been placed there in a bid to frame them for Madeleine's murder.
A source close to Kate MCCann said today: "She believes the evidence has been planted - either by the police or even by the abductor.
"Gerry's view is if it is there, it has been planted or it has been accidentally transferred there."
Portuguese prosecutors were today due to start considering thousands of pages of police evidence as they received the full file on Madeleine, and to decide whether to bring charges.
In his blog on the website www.findmadeleine.com, Mr McCann described the past few days as "unbelievably stressful and emotionally draining".

Portuguese police believe Madeleine McCann is now dead
He wrote: "The pain and turmoil we have experienced in this last week is totally beyond description.
Portuguese police declared the McCanns arguidos - or formal suspects - after a breakthrough in DNA tests conducted in Britain.
Police in Portugal now believe Mrs McCann killed Madeleine and her husband helped cover up the crime, hiding the body temporarily before disposing of it at least 25 days later using the hire car.
The McCanns say the claim is ludicrous and far-fetched and they fear they are being framed by the Policia Judiciaria.
Mrs McCann made her claim of being framed in a telephone call to a close friend after she was interrogated for 11 hours at Portimao police station on Thursday, where she was accused of killing her daughter.
The friend said: "When we spoke, the feeling was very much from her that they were being stitched up."
It is understood that the new legal team hired by the McCanns to defend them - they could face charges at any time - will scrutinise the forensic evidence and employ their own expert.
The McCanns have let it be known they are scathing about the standard of policing in Portugal, with one source suggesting that the forensics gathered could easily have been contaminated by officers inexperienced in modern policing techniques.
One source suggested that officers had failed to take the McCanns' fingerprints properly on the night Madeleine vanished and had to take them again the next day.
The officer who searched their holiday apartment in Praia da Luz wore only gloves and not the overalls which are standard practice in Britain to prevent contamination of evidence.
The McCanns could remain arguidos for up to a year, leaving them uncertain of their future.
But police could also issue arrest warrants at any time, forcing them to return to the Algarve, from where Madeleine vanished on 3 May.
The source said the McCanns were much calmer since returning home on Sunday and have regrouped to defend their reputation and continue the worldwide search for Madeleine.
"Now it has happened the way it has they are not unhappy at being home. They can return to some form of normality," said the source.
"They can get some rest and recuperation. They have easy access to lawyers and communications rather than being one stage removed in a hostile environment. They were increasingly isolated in the new villa."

Hi Viv and all,

I have had many debates on the smacking issue. My son suffers from ADHD and can be quite a handful at times. Numerous times I have been in a supermarket etc and he has been naughty and running around etc and i am met with glares from people who say things like "If he was mine I would give him a good hiding", etc. At first I was always embarrassed but have learned how to answer these obnoxious people. I have learned many different ways to discipline and smacking is not one of them.

With regards to your article, the last sentence "They feel isolated a t the Villa". Gerry's diary day 52 states, "If Madeleine is not found during next 2 weeks we will have to find a bigger place as the family are coming on holiday". Yes, a holiday. Unbelievable.

Hello everyone:)

Have not been around lately, and don't have time to read back...

Just want to say: Thank you all for the effort you have given in this story! I am sure that without all the questions you have asked here and at the DE-forum, the case would have looked different and maybe been shelved by now...
Good luck to the PJ and UK-police!
Justice for Madeleine!

Have a nice day all:)

PJ authorized to Question the McCann's Friends

Police begins today the attack on the contradictions of the McCann’s friends
http://joana-morais.blogspot.com/2008/0 ... canns.html

PJ authorized questioning

The PJ Team and the Police of Leicester were yesterday in a meeting that lasted the whole afternoon to adjust the manner of how the interrogations are going to take place.

Now it’s the time for the coordinator of criminal investigation of the PJ, Paulo Rebelo to show what he is worth. The right-arm of Guilhermino Encarnação, the person in charge of the PJ’s Directory of Faro, his going to lead, from 9h00 of today, all the interrogations to the seven friends with whom Madeleine's parents had dinner in the night the girl disappeared, from Praia da Luz, Algarve.

The diligence should be done only by the British authorities, but the Portuguese obtained a special authorization to do the interrogations directly. “We were only going to assist the interrogations and make suggestions. However due to the good existent collaboration between both police forces, it was agreed that we should do the cross-examinations. It was a question of courtesy from the English Police in general and of Leicester in particular”, explained to 24horas a Judiciary Police source.

24horas was able to gather that Jane Tanner will be the first witness to be heard, for the reason that her statement given initially to the PJ and the declarations she made publicly, along the months that followed the disappearance, are of those who present bigger inconsistencies.

It was she who said, some months after the disappearance, to have seen a man near the apartment of the McCanns carrying what appeared to be a child wrapped up in a blanket. But Jane will not be the only target of the authorities. Her husband, Russel O'Brien, is also going to be "grilled", since his declarations to the authorities changed with time. Dianne Webster, of 63, and the oldest person of the Tapas group, will have to explain why she did not show surprise when she saw Kate entering in the Tapas Bar screaming. And why she remained seated more than five minutes until she decided to leave the place.

Witnesses of the McCanns

The day of yesterday was a fuss for Paulo Rebelo and for the two investigators who accompanied him. They had to wake up at around 6h00 to be in the Faro Airport at 7h00 to do the check-in for the EasyJet flight at 9h00 bound for Birmingham, where they arrived only around 12h30.

Soon after they had lunch and at 14h30 they entered in a high speed Ford gray van, with tinted glasses, in the headquarters of the Leicester police. There followed a meeting that lasted all the afternoon. Meanwhile, two witnesses, allegedly indicated by the McCanns, were heard, in the context of the rogatory letter, only by British officers. The PJ did not find them relevant.

Clarence Mitchell and Justine McGuinness, which practiced the spokesperson's functions for the McCanns in Praia da Luz (the first one maintains this position in England) might be able to help explaining to the PJ how traces of blood of the child ended up in the Renault Scenic. The vehicle was rented by Madeleine's parents three weeks after her disappearance and the detection of those evidences contributed in order for the police to change the course of the investigation, in August of 2007, starting to point to the theory of the death.

The interest of the couple McCann in suggesting to the authorities to hear Clarence Mitchell and Justine McGuiness is attached to the fact that besides the McCanns they were the persons, who travelled more in that car.

Morning Viv and all!

First I’d like to thank you Viv for highlighting the Swedish law against abusing (including smacking) your children. I know that there were a lot of people who were against that law when it was new, but nowadays it is widely accepted. And I for one think that children become happier and safer children if they don’t have to fear being smacked if they have done something stupid.

Second I’d like to apologise for covering old territory, I know that you discussed the absent watches and mobiles yesterday. But I just read about it myself and feel a need to comment:

“Mr Mitchell said: "On that night these seven people didn't have mobiles or watches” (http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30100-1311972,00.html)

I did what many here seem to have done, googled pictures of K and G McCann, and like many others noticed that they were almost always wearing watches. Kate even had a watch on when she was getting married (something you wouldn’t expect to see on a Swedish bride, at least that used to be the custom, don’t really know about nowadays).

Bearing that in mind, I find it very hard to believe that out of nine persons dining together NOT ONE would have a watch or a mobile. It just doesn’t ring true. Especially since we’ve been told that Gerry sent 14 (?) text messages during that dinner (don’t know the accuracy regarding that though).

So, the question is:

Why would anyone say that they weren’t wearing watches and didn’t bring mobiles when it seems so unlikely to be the truth?

Good morning everyone!

I get the impression that the PJ's knew exactly what they were doing when they allowed the McCanns to flee from Portugal after they were made arguidos. They were very aware of the government and media interest in the McCanns which could have resulted in them being seen as innocents abroad and the tide turning against the PJ's and Portugal! I think they let the McCanns and tapas pals go knowing that if they gave them all enough rope they would hang themselves!! This has turned out to be true with all the discrepancies in Jane Tanner's statements and blatantly misleading utterances from CM concerning possible sightings! It has also allowed time for people to make up their own minds about what went on that night!

nancy said...

Hello Viv and Claudia

What is the latest news on Alsabella? It's strange that her forum was deleted not long before it was known the interrogations were soon to begin - Also Athena seems to have disappeared from sight! I hope they are both alright and we hear from them again soon.

Nancy,

I agree with you. I do believe the PJ know exactly what they are doing. The group might think they have the safety of being home however there is no escape from wrong doing. I do not expect that this will all be cleared up in the next week. I will not be surprised if it is extended until Sept. 08. If I were one of that group I would not put my future in the hands of another person/s, I would trust no one and protect my own. Murat it looks like he cannot be used as a scapegoat, I would make sure I was not the next scapegoat. IMHO.

nancy said...

I see the Telegraph today has an article stating that the McCanns want the police to interview 60 witnesses, favourable to them of course; just who are these witnesses and do they all actually know what happened that night? I very much doubt it!

nancy said...

Daisy -

Why not make a few intelligent comments for a change and let us know in your own words what you think happened to Madeleine on the night of 3rd May last year. For instance, if you think she was abducted, tell us how you reach that conclusion. I would be interested to hear your views of which you are perfectly entitled, as we are of ours. Show us that you are able to make a comment for us to respond positively to, instead of just coming on with a few insulting words that can't help the investigation into Maddie's disappearance at all.

Come on Daisy, you know it makes sense!

nancy said...

Hi Zodiac -

My thoughts exactly! and just why have the tapas friends been so loath to make any comments at all, apart from the JT sighting, which I don't believe for one minute, having seen her hesitant and obviously unwilling appearance on Panorama; the McCanns are arguidos and they have spoken out more than the pals they were on holiday with. I would think much of it has to do with their lucrative careers which is the probable reason for the 'see no evil' stance they have taken! The response this week will hopefully reveal the truth.

Off to do some ironing - yawn!!! see you all later

Anonymous said...

Daisy,

I agree with Nancy let us read what you think happened and how you make your conclusions.

dolores said...

Nancy /Zodiac,

These people who come on here do not have an opinion and I have never in all the months heard one give any reasonable theory of how an abduction could have taken place, simply because they are only on hys or blogs to disrupt and insult. They all use the same words vile, vilification, sick etc.,its all they are trained to say, they no not seem to possess a free thinking mind of their own.
You will never get an answer, they are puppets.
Anyone would need to be blind not to see through them.

nancy,

Many feel exactly the same and grossly misleading information has emerged via Horas 24. Alsa confirmed ages ago it was highly disreputable especially it's coverage of the case.

Evil threats made to Viv & Alsa by assassin and others have been implemented ... crucial to silence Alsa and 'black out' news from Portugal. Word is the Police are involved - her family's been threatened.

Alsa had direct links to PJ, a threat to CM's media manipulation to get McCanns off the hook. Game plan is to make Prosecutor & PJ scapegoats. Fooling the public has been in operation from day one .... we've all experienced tactics used by CM's team in Forums. Intimidation, threats and cloning.

Gerry's fight from day one has been two quite simple ... turn public opinion against Police and damning evidence. Win and win with pubic support.

His delight at public response to DE 'apology', acceptance of 'no evidence' statement caused him to open his mouth too soon ... arrogance. Gerry (Rosiepops) told us arguido status was to be lifted on 11th April. He knew PJ's plans to interview them, CM, police witnesses as well as Tapas had been stymied, halted.

Prosecutor & PJ have had no more intention of interviewing Tapas group alone, than they had of meeting me. Their focus since September has been primarily to requestion prime suspects - as ruled by Prosecutor - he's seen all the evidence PJ leaked.

CM's misinformation continues ... PJ's visit is a scam ... connections with Portugal were severed for this purpose and commentators are clones.

Britain has to be seen to be co-operating with PJ whilst thwarting them all the way to the end.

Game plan since September has been to fight damning evidence, get status lifted. Public backing to this end has been critical, whitewash corruption, political intervention. Police were wrong, McCanns were right ... there is 'no evidence' - DE's announcement was the beginning of the end for the Police. Gerry knew it and announced it as Rosiepops ... 'up yours' to the public who'd swallowed the DE award scam. CM had got public opinion where he wanted it to the finale ... 'no evidence', DE & Carter ruck were willing parties.

Gerry's arrogance took him to the tennis courts instead of searching for his daughter ... his arrogance told us his protectionists had beaten PJ weeks ago.

PR has always been a scam and always will be, public manipulation. Mari's murder features strongly in the grand finale. Truth emerging here is evil, far more horrendous than Madeleine's case as Police believe her death, based on FSS results, was accidental.

CM's blocked genuine news/events from Portugal controlling Portuguese truth from Portugal has to be quashed and controlled by CM

Madeleine McCann’s parents, family friends and other holiday-makers have been called back to Portugal to participate in a reconstruction of the night she disappeared, Times Online has learnt.

Detectives want to replicate the events at the Ocean Club in Praia da Luz on the evening when Kate and Gerry McCann reported their eldest daughter had been abducted. They have asked dozens of people to attend the event after the completion of a series of interviews with key witnesses which started today.

The unprecedented reconstruction is planned for the middle of next month, shortly after the first anniversary of Madeleine’s disappearance on May 3. Portuguese police have written to witnesses, asking them to cooperate by attending the event.

Mr and Mrs McCann have not been to the Algarve resort since they were made arguidos (official suspects) on September 7. Friends of the couple have indicated that they would refuse to voluntarily return unless they are formally cleared of any wrongdoing.

The reconstruction would involve dozens of people who were in Praia da Luz from the early afternoon of May 3 until Madeleine was reported missing from her bedroom at 10pm.

Events on the ground would be compared with the timeline of evidence being compiled during interviews with more than 50 people which are being carried out by British police throughout this month.

Portuguese detectives hope the reconstruction will help them identify discrepancies in evidence and to pinpoint areas which need further investigation.

However, critics will see it as as a sign that the investigators have no idea what happened to Madeleine. Experts from Scotland Yard and Leicestershire Constabulary had advised Portuguese police to hold a reconstruction within weeks of Madeleine’s disappearance.

Seven British friends who were on holiday with the McCanns are being questioned by British police this week. The interviews at the headquarters of Leicestershire Constabulary are being watched by the chief Portuguese investigator, Paulo Rebelo, and two other senior detectives from the Polícia Judiciária.

Apparent inconsistencies in the previous statements of the “Tapas Seven” and the accounts of Mr and Mrs McCann have been identified by detectives. However, they have insisted that there are no differences and any minor discrepancies are to be expected in any set of recollections.

Mrs McCann, 40, and her 39-year-old husband, both doctors from Rothley, Leicestershire, claim that Madeleine was abducted by a stranger just days before her fourth birthday.

The couple were dining with friends at a tapas restaurant at the Ocean Club when the abductor allegedly forced up a window and snatched Madeleine from the ground-floor bedroom where she was sleeping with her twin brother and sister, Sean and Amelie, now aged two.

Interviews will also be carried out with other holidaymakers, Ocean Club staff, the nannies who looked after Madeleine on the day she disappeared, as well as the psychologist who helped Mrs McCann.

A spokeswoman for Leicestershire Constabulary said: “We will be co-ordinating the execution of the request for mutual legal assistance made by the Portuguese authorities.

“The Portuguese authorities have asked that the contents of the request and the way it is being executed be kept confidential so as not to prejudice their ongoing investigation.”

Mr and Mrs McCann will tomorrow travel to Brussels to lobby MEPs for better co-ordination between European countries when a child goes missing.

The couple last month visited the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) in Washington, United States, to learn about the Amber child abduction alert system as part of a television documentary to be broadcast on April 30.

Mr McCann wrote afterwards: “During our Washington visit we were also very encouraged to hear that, in NCMEC’s experience, the younger the child at the time of abduction the less likely that child will be seriously harmed.

“Such information makes us believe even more fervently, in the absence of evidence to the contrary, that Madeleine can be found safe and well.”

Hello 2345 -

Your posts always seem so convincing and well thought out that it is hard to disagree with your observations.

What you are saying in effect is that there has been so much cloak and dagger stuff surrounding this case there is not a hope in hell that the McCanns or their tapas friends will ever be charged with anything at all!

Well, the next week will either confirm your statements or not - let us wait and see, but I have a feeling that you are just telling us something that many of us already sense in this investigation!

Gina/Nancy/Jojam,

Thanks for helping me out re "bullish", seems to be an odd word to use (personally I thought of "bullies" when I read it, and I'm sure that wasn't intended).

Hi Claudia,

Hi, SwedishMum.
I didn't say there were no threats. I'm saying that not everything 2345 said is true. And I know it for a fact.

Always great to see you.

Claudia, I am glad you are around as I just came in to answer the phone and saw what 2345 said. As you know, none of us know why Alsa closed her site, and if/when she is opening it again. However if I had missed something and there were threats against her I for one am not prepared to standby and do nothing about it.

nancy said...

So according to Gerry's blog he believes after attending a Conference in the States that the younger the child the less likely he or she will be harmed and that Madeleine could be safe and well. If that thought gives him comfort then so be it, but I think he is just trying to convince himself knowing that he and Kate are the prime cause of their daughter's disappearance, for instance inferring before that it was not their fault Madeleine disappeared but that of the abductor! If they had been there for Madeleine and the twins instead of feeding their social appetites, Madeleine would be with them today and that is fact!

SwedishMum said...

Claudia,

that sounds horrible if you mean that the threats aren't coming from "nutters".
Are you implying that Alsabella's site was closed/put on hold due to threats and not because she got tired of the sick posts some contributed with?

Cláudia said...

Well, Gina, I know what happened, obviously. But I won't be the one telling because I would be disrespecting Alsabella and I would never do that. yes, Alsabella will be back. She told me that herself. And there is no big conspiracy theory behind what happened. Or so I think. But she had to take care of some business and that takes time. She will be back as soon as she can. No doubts about that. And she will explain everything.

Margarida Cruz e Silva said...

At least they will not have the pleasure to have the Pj saying it was an abduction. That cloud of suspicion will be forever there over their heads. That is already a punishment.

I cannot understand what I have just read about the PJ wanting everybody to go back to Portugal for a reconstruction. As you know I am do not usually critise the PJ, but a reconstruction nearly a year later doesn't make much sense to me at all. Unless of course they have other motives for them all to return to Portugal!! I do not think however the will fall for that one, they will be advised against it IMO. I guess we will just have to wait and see if anything comes out of this week's interviews. Read you all later

Claudia -

Sorry, I missed your post before but it can put our minds at rest that it was Alsabella posting (you never know these days) and that everything is alright.

Thanks for letting us know!

Just tell Alsabella that we miss her input and that of Athena too.

Gina said...

Nancy, I have had a few runs in with 2345 on issues where I actually knew the truth (ie the alledged attempted abduction here in Spain recently and a couple of other things). I have no knowledge of forensics and I have read with interest her thoughts on that. However to say the following is a bit OTT IMO
...................................
Evil threats made to Viv & Alsa by assassin and others have been implemented ... crucial to silence Alsa and 'black out' news from Portugal. Word is the Police are involved - her family's been threatened.

Alsa had direct links to PJ, a threat to CM's media manipulation to get McCanns off the hook.
...................................
We all know people have come on line and threatened Viv and Alsa and to my knowledge they both took these threat with a pinch of salt. As far as I know the only direct link Alsa has with the PJ is their email address and she said has sent them comments from time to time. I don't think 2345 is in direct contact with Alsa so she knows no more than we do: Claudia I know is in contact with Alsa so I think what she has said is nearer reality. It is silly to make statements like that that can be checked out IMO because if proved false it makes one wonder about other comments. Anyway, non of this is going to solve the case, or plant my plants so off back to the garden

I will, Nancy.

Hi all, here's good news for ya; From Times OnlineApril 8, 2008

Madeleine McCann's parents called back to Portugal

Madeleine McCann went missing in the resort of Praia da Luz on May 3 last year

Exclusive by David Brown
Madeleine McCann’s parents, family friends and other holiday-makers have been called back to Portugal to participate in a reconstruction of the night she disappeared, Times Online has learnt.

Detectives want to replicate the events at the Ocean Club in Praia da Luz on the evening when Kate and Gerry McCann reported their eldest daughter had been abducted. They have asked dozens of people to attend the event after the completion of a series of interviews with key witnesses which started today.

Gina said...

Jojam, I don't have an opinion on other statements made as I have no knowledge whatsoever on DNA to prove or disprove the theories given and I think everybody has the right to their opinion. However as I am confused enough already, I do not need confusing any further with thoughts written as what appear to be fact. No if my phone had no rung again, I would not have come back and answered your post. 3rd attempt now to do some planting :-)

Gina said...

Eurekamano, saw that earlier and wondered apart from making sure they are all back in Portugal, what is the point of a reconstruction nearly a year later???

Wizard said...

Isis, thank you for the link to the Times article. Well, well, well I think what the pj are suggesting for next month is absolutely brilliant. The McCanns lawyers have said they should not return to Portugal however not to do so when requested would look very, very fishy if not an open omission of guilt. If I remember rightly CM said a few days back the McCanns wanted to go back to Portugal despite legal advice to commemorate the 1st anniversary of Madeleine’s disappearance. What of course that means in plain English is they have been requested to go back by the pj and they would have difficulty in refusing.

As all the interviews in England will have been done and the evidence sifted and collated the McCanns and others are asked back to Portugal. Viv will not doubt correct me if I’m wrong but the McCanns and any other parties could be arrested and charged without the production of going through the British Governments bureaucratic hold ups. I was beginning to feel this case could be shelved but now this new manoeuvre is sheer brilliance - well done the pj.

Chrissie Nyssen said...

if claudia says alsabella will be back then i am happy to accept this.

she probably just got fedup with people abusing her blog.

i have seen the pros make threats to viv, 2345, ratonthebeam, docmac, alsabella, claudia and others.

if they truly believe that this will make people respect them or believe them then they are just stupid thugs. and not bullish at all. (i think the word we are all seeking is actually "bullsh*t.")

Cláudia said...

Ultraviolet, Alsabella was the one who told me she would be back as soon as she was able to.
And I can guarantee you that it wasn't because of abusing posters and posts.

LittleGreyCell said...

Hello Wizard (and Isis - great to see you here!),

I'm afraid I'm pessimistic about the McCanns returning to Portugal.

Whilst I totally agree that it will look very bad if they don't go, I think this is the lesser of the two evils for them, and that they will not risk what will inevitably be a farcical re-enactment - or something worse.

They will come up with some lame excuse which nobody will believe, but they will be safe in the knowledge that (presumably) very few legal avenues exist to ensure they go.

Losing face is one thing; losing their freedom is another.

Sorry to be cynical!

LGC, although they said they would come back in a blink of an eye as soon as they were requested by the authorities, I also believe
they will not come. But you know what? Their refusal will be self explanatory for the whole world to see. Once again they will have to choose who comes first: their daughter or themselves.

LittleGreyCell said...

Claudia,

I think they made that choice long ago...

I also think that Gerry in particular believes that whatever he says is seen as the truth of the matter. Delusional, in denial, whatever you want to call it. And by this point in the proceedings, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't half believe it himself.

In politics there's a belief that if you can ride out 11 days of bad publicity, you live to fight another day. I should imagine that this is exactly what Clarence has been advising.

Margarida Cruz e Silva said...

Police have asked the McCanns to return to Portugal to take part in a reconstruction of the night their daughter disappeared, it emerged today.

The request was revealed as British officers began questioning members of the so-called Tapas Seven - friends of the couple who dined with them in Praia da Luz the night Madeleine vanished.

But Kate and Gerry McCann's official spokesman, Clarence Mitchell, has already said they will not go back to the resort in the Algarve as long as they remain "arguidos" or suspects in the case.

Daily Mail

Says it all!

Cláudia said...

LGC, yes, their choice was made long ago. It was made the first time they decided to leave all their infants alone to satisfy their selfish needs. Everything that happened afterwards was just a reflection of that decision. It's always been about what's the best. For them of course.

Marga, says it all, indeed. Does not surprise me, though...

Margarida Cruz e Silva said...

Good the PJ have made this request!

The Pink one is already sying they would go only if the arguido status is lifted.

The world is watching. They are ARGUIDOS and let's remain this status forever if they don't cooperate. If they were innocent they would be eager to collaborate.

I'm glad teh PJ still have the game on.

Chrissie Nyssen said...

in order to reconstruct something, one must know how it was constructed in the first place.

Margarida Cruz e Silva said...

Have to leave now, but as it was said today on PT TV I'm proud of my country and the way the Pj is working in spite of all the dirty tricks that have hindered this investigation.

Sweet little girl, you can count on the PJ and the Portuguese.God give them strength and wisdom to let the truth be known and justice be done.

see you all later.

Abraço a todos!

Cláudia said...

Marga, if they don't cooperate in the reconstruction how can they clear their names? How can they have the arguido status lifted? How can the PJ kneel down, ask them for forgiveness and give them the Parents of the Century Award? ;-)

Cláudia said...

Beijinhos, Marga! :-)

Ana said...

Hello all,

Just heard sky news and one of the breaking news is: the McCanns have been asked to return to Portugal to take part in a reconstruction !!

This reconstruction is supposed to be made in May, which I think is very likely because , is the only way the police have to make this reconstruction reliable , at the exact time at the exact place and at the exact hour…with the exact suspects!!
Clarence was saying that they were not been approach to do nothing like that and if they were, the McCanns, don’t say, no neither yes (I suppose it will depend in arguidos status).
He says that Kate want comeback but the return would bee to traumatic at this stage, she is so fragile, they don’t think that this reconstruction will produce any new evidence to help finding Madeleine; and that they don’t know what is in police’s mind…

Brunt was on saying that, the McCanns and their friends know this for months…

Cláudia said...

Hello, Ana. I'm sure they will come. After all, they've always said that they would return immediately when requested by the authorities and we all know they would never lie. Especially since it's their daughter we're talking about here. Right? ;-)

Sorry, posted on the wrong thread.

Of course the McCann's will go to Portugal.
Just wait and see...

Di said...

Good afternoon everyone

I have just been listening about the reconstruction on BBC news, Clarence has admitted they have been invited, they are considering the idea.

Ana said...

Oh Cláudia, but kate is so fragile at this stage, you know...rrrr she can only go to Brussels you know...to the European Parliement you know..

Cláudia said...

Is there anything brave in leaving three under 4 year old children alone to go have dinner, drinks and fun?

Cláudia said...

Ana, maybe they should be told that we can provide tennis lessons and jogging so they can relax a bit when they come back...

Cláudia said...

I'm sure they are, Di. And they should accept. That way they would clear their names quickly and have their arguido status lifted.

Ana said...

No Cláudia, there isn´t!

Cláudia said...

I know there isn't, Ana. Was just asking a question to the poster who signed with a Latin expression.

Ana said...

Yes Cláudia, and golf too...by the way, do you want a daiquiri or,maybe, a sangria ?

Cláudia said...

I hate to disappoint you but I don't like alcohol. One beer in the summer and a glass of champagne on New Year's eve. And just because people insist. One time, my cousin did a caipirinha for me and man was that strong! Couldn't finish it.
But I've heard it's something quite popular among modern parents.
By the way, how is a daiquiri made? lolol

Anonymous said...

Leaving children alone is stupid.
Going back to Portugal as required is brave.

I was using the motto of my old South African school.

Rori Hegarty said...

LGC/wizard, think about the timing of this. The tapas interviews under way , now talk of a reconstruction. Whatever answers the tapas bunch give if there is a reconstruction they will have to stick to depositions given today if re enacting events. Now that would be one to see.

Cláudia said...

I know the expression. You know, Portuguese is my native language...
So what do you make of CM's statemente that they will only return if the arguido status is lifted? Is that brave or what?

Cláudia said...

I meant 'statement'.

Ana said...

Cláudia,I think daiquiri is made with rum and sugar, but never drinked !!

Cláudia said...

Oh, and leaving children that age alone is not stupid. It is a crime.

Cláudia said...

Well, Ana, I'm more of a coffee girl, as you know. But I could use the sugar! :-)

Ana said...

But Cláudia, you better ask Kate, i think she knows the drink ...LOL

Cláudia said...

Ana, lolol Yep, she probably has an idea...

Ana said...

i know she has...lol

Cláudia said...

I bet she has lots of ideas on many different matters.

Ana said...

Oh ye Cláudia, such what ?Child care, for instance?

Isis,

Yes, the timing - yet another coincidence in this case!

Was this information released only through Clarence? If so, would it be to try to convince us that the police are going to get nowhere with the current questioning so that another avenue must be explored?

I, too, would love to see a 'reconstruction'! The only thing it would lack is Brian Rix running around the stage with his trousers around his ankles. I don't think the Tapas Lot would be able to pull it off, with so many different 'recollections' of what happened that night. And if they all sang from the same hymn sheet, as it were, how suspicious would that be?

LGC,heard clarence speaking and he didnt seem as if it was somthing he had leaked. Be interesting to see if a reconstruction were done would the actors/actresses have mobile phones or watches ??

Reconstitution of crime
Gerry and Kate will be back to Portugal At request of the Judiciary Police, the couple McCann will return to Portugal to participate in the rebuilding of the disappearance of her daughter Maddie. Several witnesses and friends of the couple were also invited.

Sven Kaestner / AP
One year after the disappearance the PJ will reconstruct the events.
The Judiciary Police is preparing a reconstitution of the night in which Madeleine disappeared from the apartment of the parents, in the village of Luz The Express knows that Kate and Gerry McCann agreed to participate in the rebuilding, which will take place in early May, when the first anniversary of the disappearance of the child.
"Parents collaborate in everything for this stage come to an end and that the authorities should focus in the search for Madeleine," the lawyer told the Express Rogerio Alves, who did not want to make further comments.
According to the online edition of the 'Times', will be involved in rebuilding the 50 people who have already been heard by the police, among tourists, friends of the couple McCann and employees of the tourist. Madeleine McCann disapeer the May 3 last year. Parents and Robert Murat are the only arguidos in the process.
