WHY PRISON FOR KAREN AND NOT KATE?

Hi All, I see we do have official news reports confirming Tanner and O'Brien were subjected to 10 hour grilling. Obviously not the usual case of the police simply getting their evidence, more a case of them being cross examined upon it.

Whilst I can understand the legal reasons why Karen has been promptly charged with her own child neglect and remanded in custody and Kate has not (because there is a lot more than that still being investigated) , it is clear from reading comments on the web, see the comments below the article also, and my own blog there is growing public resentment at the apparent disparity in treatment of these two women from very different social backgrounds.

There is no doubt Kate and Gerry McCann have had an awful of help in seeking to defend themselves, not available to Karen, but I would just say this, has this actually convinced the public they are innocent and perhaps, more importantly, has it convinced the Police of their innocence? Clearly not, their legal status as arguidos remain and reports emanating from Portugal clearly indicate the only way they will ever get rid of this status is after they have been tried in a court of law.

There is no doubt the McCanns will be charged and this case would not be brought if it was considered that it was likely the McCanns are going to secure an acquittal. Having said that, Portuguese and British authorities have clearly never been under any illusions as to just how much backing the McCanns have and how hard they intend to face the case against them. As Gerry himself said, "we will fight this every step of the way". That is what they are currently doing in Brussels, it is all part of his campaign.

Euro MPs would have to look at the McCanns proposals in an unbiased way, but he figures if they get approved, that will signify approval of him and Kate. Just like he figured extracting the libel settlement from the Daily Express would do. To quote him again, (he does make quite a few Freudian slips or arrogant clues) "we are conducting an aggressive and high risk strategy". It is a very high risk strategy to have taken money from the Daily Express because as he will well know, that is fraud, but he likes to play poker, the potential gains outweigh the risks.

Whether the Daily Express actually settled the claim because they could not prove the truth of their articles i.e. they killed Madeleine etc without access to the police evidence (which of course they could not have), or whether they did it in a contemptuous way, knowing the money they will eventually make, I am not certain. I certainly think the latter.

Maybe also another thing we have learned is the Daily Express also printed what appeared to be scurrilous accusations against Karen, when we did not know anything of the police case against her, but in fact they did turn out to be true.

I have been criticised (albeit by people who even criticise my parrot!) for refusing to suggest Karen was guilty based on these reports. I resent that criticism. It is not open to anyone in my view to simply accuse anyone of a serious criminal offence prior to any official details of them being either "prime police suspects" or having actually been charged.

I always suspected the McCanns but I never once wrote anything at all on the internet to that effect until October 2007 on the Daily Express, AFTER they were made police suspects and details of why, the forensic evidence, were made public.

That is a matter of behaving responsibly and lawfully and not libelling people, you simply cannot just go around pointing the finger at people when the police are not.

How many wicked people accused Mr and Mrs Cortez and were proved to be wrong? This is why I know I am right in saying, every time, until the POLICE let us know they did something, do not accuse people. It is wrong and it is unlawful.

Karen was entitled to the benefit of the doubt, before we knew, just the same as Kate and Gerry were. We may not like their campaign but they are in it to defend themselves. This blog will continue to oppose their campaign, flag up the insidious and disingenuous nature of it, and support justice for little Madeleine McCann. Once the McCanns are charged however, far greater restraint will have to be shown and it will be. I would ask for the same in Karen's case given she is charged and in custody and is entitled to a fair trial. She is already being punished, leave her alone and remember what she did, although extremely serious, pales into almost insignificance by comparison to what Kate and Gerry did who may well have motivated and inspired a family of clearly far lower intellect and means by their wicked behaviour.

Police continue to quiz McCann friends

Portuguese detectives are still attending police interviews with friends of Kate and Gerry McCann.
The so-called Tapas Seven are the group who ate with the McCanns on the night their four-year-old daughter Madeleine went missing.
Police said that witnesses and Portuguese detectives had arrived at Leicestershire Constabulary's force headquarters in Enderby to be re-interviewed about the dissaperience of Madeliene from an apartment in the Portuguese holiday resort of Praia da Luz on May 3 last year.
It is thought 34-year-old Fiona and 41-year-old David Payne from Leicester are the latest witnesses to be questioned.
The interviews are being conducted by British officers as a three-man team of Portuguese detectives, led by Paulo Rebelo, sit in.
On Tuesday, Jane Tanner, 37, and her partner, 36-year-old Russell O'Brien, were quizzed for about ten hours.
But sources said they were allowed a number of breaks and that the interviews had given them the chance to put their point of view across "strongly".
Meanwhile, Mr and Mrs McCann are preparing to travel to Brussels where they plan to lobby MEPs for the introduction of a child alert system that is used in the US in cases where children are victims of a suspected abduction.
The couple will give a presentation on the importance of greater co-ordination between European countries when a child is abducted.
Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns' spokesman, said: "For Kate and Gerry this is an important opportunity to ensure better co-ordination in Europe when a child goes missing to make sure that no other family goes through the anguish that they are continuing to endure."
The McCanns want to launch a dedicated information hotline that will be available across Europe for when police suspect a child has been taken.
Mrs McCann, 40, and 39-year-old Mr McCann, and their team, have already reserved the number - 116 000 - but it has yet to go live.

Hi everyone, (Yes .. still awake, but no doubt will crash after I complete the school run this afternoon!).

I popped back in because I saw something on the Daily Mail just now that really touched me. Apparently, the mother of Damilola Taylor, the little boy that was stabbed with a broken bottle and bled to death in East London, died on Tuesday night not far from where her little boy was killed. It was a suspected heart attack.

Not sure if you already know about this or not.

It seems this poor mother never got over her son's death (understandably) and now, it has cost her own life. This woman's heart simply could not take the strain - whose could? (and God forbid anybodies should).

Apparently, she was helpful and co-operative with police and other authorities at all times, and dedicated her life to helping underprivileged children after the tragedy.

It kind of puts a certain other couple's behaviour into perspective (even though for me and I know, for most others here, it already was), and really shows the difference between real and pretend parents. I don't even care what the "Pro's" say anymore - to me, they are pretend "people". In fact, I may not even come back to the blogs, as this latest story has given me a fresh perspective on just how tacky the McCanns really are. Why even bother discussing them any more?

Anyway, here is the article at the Daily mail. RIP, Damilola and Gloria. God Bless.

Hi Bianca

Thanks for that which I had read.

Sadly, this is what losing a child does to genuine parents, they never get over it and move on as Gerry suggested "we want to go back to normal". This was such a telling remark, when you have lost a precious child how could life ever be normal again.

I see Calcite had to go back and brag what a little twit she is and Rosie commented how she had earlier been on this site causing trouble. I can understand you feeling repulsed by such people.

Get some sleep darling.

Yes I know Viv, they are a weird and alienating bunch.

Still, in the bigger scheme of things they don't really account for much, when you consider how many real people are out there with real feelings.

Can't let myself crash yet as have to go back up to the school (LOL) but then it should be okay as hubby will soon be back. I've really got to stop getting sucked into these blogs and pulling "all-nighters". The problem is I normally don't get time to go on the computer during the day. I usually only get to it late at night, and I'm "aided and abetted", as it were, by the fact that most of you guys are on during my late-night (your day) so there's lots to discuss! I get sucked in!

Oh well, my fault - nobody else's.

Take care :-)

Hiya darling

I honestly think that aside from Rosie perhaps any connection to the McCanns is simply non-existent and those who suggest Clarence Mitchell would actually pay for their efforts are affording them a status they simply do not merit.

In short they are bunch of racists who support child neglectors and are pathetic argumentative little bullies, provide evidence how they abuse their own children and need a good psychiatrist! There are only about five of them I would imagine including the utterly barmy Supertroll and we should all try harder to treat them with the contempt they deserve for their ridiculous comments and bullying and childish tactics.

I have a lot of difficult work on at the moment and like to work through the night because it is so utterly peaceful. It is nice if I drop in on the blog to find someone sane around.

Hope you can catch up with some sleep soon.

Morning Viv and Atardi -

I see we are the first ones on - when do you manage to sleep Viv?

Very good article once again. I especially agree with what you say about the McCanns quite possibly motivating and inspiring the 'family of Shannon, who are clearly of lower intellect and means by their wicked behaviour'!

I've thought this from the moment they went into world wide publication of Madeleine's eye defect, and then started a company and fund, hence their resultant fame and celebrity. It almost seems that it was a pre-arranged scam, although obviously there is no proof of that!

There are many poor people in this world living in desperate circumstances with large families who would possibly be prepared to go to such lengths to attain publicity and the instant offers of cash that go with it when a child is involved.

I wonder if this ever crosses the McCanns' minds, or are they conveniently blanking that thought as they continue to climb on the celebrity bandwagon!

I feel sorry for their twins who are missing out on the company and love of their big sister and also the numerous gaps in their lives with their parents new lifestyle.

Let's hope we soon get justice for Madeleine! As far as Shannon is concerned, I hope the rest of her and her siblings lives will be happy.

Hi Nancy

Dont worry about me I do grab about 6 hours sleep usually!

I do think this is a wider issue of the McCanns conduct that really does need looking at. We have obviously all been extremely concerned about comments from Gerry, Clarence etc seeking to normalise their terrible neglect of their children. I have no doubt at the end of the day, the GMC would take action about this.

As doctors, the same as any other profession high standards of integrity and responsible behaviour are expected of them. It is clearly recognised that people should be able to respect doctors as though exemplifying the best of behaviour and most certainly concern for health and safety of children. By their actions in neglecting their children to go on heavy drinking sessions I believe they and their friends seriously brought the profession into disrepute.

Then we have the whole issue of their campaign and the amassing of fantastic wealth. Again, a terrible example to set to the general public. There is no way you can entirely blame the McCanns for the conduct we have seen in Shannon's case, but I think questions really do need to be asked about the example these doctors are setting to others who would naturally look up to such peeople and see them as role models to emulate. What they have consistently portrayed, is losing a child can be a road to riches and fame. One could easily imagine a family like Shannon's viewing this as Eutopia and a relatively easy way to achieve it. It really is very sad.

The victims the McCanns have left in their wake and their general impact on Society by their actions just cannot be easily measured, neither can a single legal charge be laid at their door for it either, but I am sure we will continue to see the impact for years to come, particularly whilst there is the current perception, and an undertandable one, that they can just carry on and get away with it. I see a Scottish conservative MP is supporting the McCanns and speaks of "abduction". What motivates such people to behave so dishonestly and irresponsibly. He is clearly directly contradicting the lawful and dedicated work of our police and the Portuguese and seriously undermining their credibility and efforts to bring justice for Madeleine. MPs too could certainly do with learning some decency and honesty. When we hear that even Tony Blair claimed for his TV licence the low morals involved are laid bare. How badly would Shannon's family like to have had such a perk I wonder, but had they not paid it they would have been fined. It really does make you see the corruption and selfish behaviour that supports a couple like Kate and Gerry McCann. Gordon Brown himself even claimed £100 per week cleaning bills. How do we get decent honest people rather than greedy and selfish people to represent a just and decent society. Electing the conservatives is clearly not the answer. Cameron was claiming £200000 per year for his mortgage and the speaker does not want to castigate these people, his wife has done too well out of it.

Sorry I think I have gone on a little hear, but I suppose I am just a little brassed off myself when you see the life and the treatment of Shannon's family as opposed to Kate and Gerry McCann. I know that we can still expect justice but it is what we see in the meantime and the delay whilst they flout their disreputable and downright cocky behaviour.

Did you notice getting on the train, Kate just got ignored with her heavy case as Gerry just bounced on the train ahead of her. What a thug!

Lorraine - I completely agree with you about Mrs Taylor - a real lady in my opinion and certainly not seeking to feather her nest with the publicity surrounding Damilola's death. What a double tragedy for her poor husband too!

Gina said...

As it was pointed out yesterday there are already alert systems in place in Europe so it is not as if the McCanns have come up with some revolutionary great idea and their input is of no value IMO, what the hell do they know, they couldn't even choose a private detective agency fit for the job.

Reading back I saw Bianca apparently got a bashing on the pros site well no suprise there. Make one post on here and you are doomed. They will concede nothing, the saintly McCanns are doing everything correctly in their opinion. Well their opinion does not match mine. What the hell does Kate think she is playing out. Supposedly weak, traumatised etc. she bravely battles on with her quest. Well I would have more respect for her if she stayed at home and looked after the twins and left Gerry to seek the publicity. No need for them both to go to Brussel. In fact no need for either of them to have gone, they should have stayed in the UK and supported their friends.

nancy said...

Hi Viv -

You said it all! Gerry is the leader and Kate just follows it seems! I could never see my husband letting me lift a heavy case onto a train, especially as Gerry himself was carrying much lighter stuff!

We could go on and on about the rights and wrongs of this and the Matthews' case, but I think the world has always been the same - the more money you have and the more important friends, you can get away with anything. I nearly said murder there - my foolish tongue!!

Glad to hear you get six hours sleep - that's about what I get! I do have a siesta in the afternoon too though.

See you later Viv!

Hiya Gina

I have previously posted research that demonstrated the vast majority of child abductions are actually by parents estranged from their children on divorce and the children are therefore generally safe although illegally removed from the parent having custody. The frequency of such abductions is such that say in a country the size of France, television would actually be interrupted several times a day to flash up these "abductions" and people clearly would become blase about it, oh just another one of them. A bit like motorist to those flashing signs telling you, you are doing more than 30!

Additionally most children who go missing are quickly found. So, could it really be helpful in every case, as the McCanns seem to be suggesting to be telling people in Italy a French child just went missing. Given the logistics and expense, together with the dumbing down effect one can undertand why a Europe wide approach, as the McCanns want has had little interest.

The article below is helpful I think.

Could Europe alerts stop abductions?
By Paul Kirby
EU reporter, BBC News

The McCanns also want a hotline and a European children's centre

Gerry and Kate McCann have travelled to Brussels to make the case for an EU-wide alert system for missing children.

Since the disappearance of their daughter Madeleine almost a year ago, the couple travelled across the continent, appealing for help in finding their daughter.

Could an immediate pan-European response have made a difference?

So far, France and Greece are the only EU countries to have introduced full alert systems along the lines of the American Amber scheme which involves immediate broadcasts on radio and television about missing children and information about possible suspects.

Within 30 minutes of a confirmed case of abduction, French authorities can flash up information on a missing child on motorway signs and ads are put out before national news broadcasts.

Britain, Belgium and Germany all have their own schemes but the McCanns want a far more co-ordinated response plan across Europe.

'Dulling effect'

But not everyone is convinced it would work.

German Justice Minister Brigitte Zypries has argued that it would be impractical and may prove counter-productive.

If Madeleine has been abducted by a predator, there would have been a huge chance of her being spotted. All the exit ports would have been alerted immediately

Lady Catherine Meyer
PACT

In her view, publishing media ads in the north of Denmark, say, for a child kidnapped in southern Italy would be of little use to any police investigation.

And showing the faces of missing children on a daily basis on television might result in a "dulling effect" on the public.

It may sound an extreme example but it reflects a sentiment that extending alerts across Europe might be an over-reaction which would probably involve extensive bureaucracy.

Parental abductions

The reality is that the kidnapping of a child is rare, and most missing children have either run away or they are either taken from their homes by a parent in a separated couple.

According to the charity Reunite, more than 400 children are taken illegally either into or out of UK every year.

Lady Catherine Meyer set up Parents and Abducted Children Together (PACT) after her two young children failed to return from a trip to their father in Germany in 1994, despite a court order.

McCanns want US alert system

She is with the McCanns in Brussels and believes an alert system would have made all the difference in their case.

"If Madeleine has been abducted by a predator, there would have been a huge chance of her being spotted. All the exit ports would have been alerted immediately".

Portuguese police had no such mechanism in place and are accused of reacting slowly to her disappearance.

116000 hotline

As well as the child alert system, Gerry and Kate McCann would like MEPs to sign up to a Europe-wide missing child hotline and a European children's centre which would co-ordinate the efforts of governments, the police and voluntary groups.

But is the EU the right body to address the issue?

A hotline has already been launched by the European Commission with the aim of giving a single number - 116000 - for parents to report missing children, wherever they are in Europe.

The aim is to extend the hotline to 47 countries, but it has had a slow start.

The McCanns travelled across Europe to raise the profile of the search

Only five of the EU's 27 member states - Belgium, Denmark, Greece, Hungary and Portugal - have so far adopted it, although the European Commission says more are in the pipeline.

British Labour MEP Arlene McCarthy is backing the McCann's campaign and believes the EU should consider making the hotline mandatory across Europe.

Missing Children Europe brings together charities across the continent and is also backing the hotline number.

But, like Germany and Austria, it is not so keen on extending the French alert system across the whole of Europe. Far better, it says, for national alerts to communicate with each other when necessary.

The organisation raises the recent case of a child who disappeared in France close to the Belgian border. While a search began immediately in France, nobody was looking 10 minutes drive away in Belgium.

Police co-operation

There is also scepticism that police forces could or would want to work together in large numbers. Sceptics point to the difficulty in bringing together 53 separate forces in the UK.

An ambitious plan for a Europe-wide register for child sex offenders was being mooted. The trouble is not all police forces have a national register to contribute to an international database.

And while the broadcast alerts bring the public into the search for a missing child, there are also questions over what happens to the information from that appeal when it is handed to the police.

Once you've got the alerts... you've got ensure that pedalling furiously underneath are police forces who are talking to each other

Baroness Sarah Ludford
British MEP

At times, since the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, Leicestershire police have had a difficult relationship with their Portuguese counterparts.

Portuguese police plan to hold a reconstruction on the anniversary of the night she disappeared, which British police had called for within weeks of it happening.

British Liberal Democrat MEP Baroness Sarah Ludford is in favour of an EU-wide alert system but says police forces are often reluctant to share the information they have.

"I have no idea whether Madeleine McCann could have been found (after an alert), but it seems to me there is a problem of breaking down barriers in sharing information between police forces across the EU," she says.

"Once you've got the alerts, you've got to make sure something happens to them: you've got ensure that pedalling furiously underneath are police forces who are talking to each other and leaving no stone unturned."

For Lady Meyer, the EU could play a vital role in improving the police response to child abduction by organising training programmes. And she thinks a new approach could save lives.

"How would you feel if it was your child who had been abducted by a predator? If we can save one child through a system like that, then it would be worth it."

Gina said...

Hi Viv

To be honest I am not really sure what is the best system. All countries are of differing sizes, so what works for one will not work for another and as pointed out an abductor could be only 10 mins away from the border of another country. Whatever system is in place it is pointless if you call sky news before you think of calling the police!!!

The best people IMO to discuss what they consider to be the best methods for this type of thing are those who have the task of finding the children - The Police - MEP's should listen to their views first, not the B...dy McCanns

Hiya Nancy

An afternoon siesta can be very pleasant, trust me I know:-)

I suppose it kind of raises this whole issue of white collar crime. They do not take hundreds they take millions but when they go to oourt (on that rare occasion they get caught) get sympathy from judges because they are such nice clever people and when they go to prison even go to one reserved for "nice" people! So much white collar crime is not even given that label, like MPs expenses, "well we were not breaking any rules" but they were dishonestly swindling thousands..(!)

Britain is still a very divided society and the Karen's of this world will always be treated very harshly. Sad but true.

Dont even get me on to what a raw deal black victims of crime get from the criminal justice system, still in spite of Stephen Lawrence, Damilo Taylor etc. and the McPherson report that was meant to address the issue of "institutionalised racism", I would be here all day!

Getting Justice is such an important thing to victims and their families.

That is just one of the issues that is so gut wrenchingly sickening about Kate and Gerry's latest little campaign isn't it?

We have heard until we are blue in the face this so called predator could have been in Huelva, Spain in 90 minutes but it took them at least 40 to even ring the police! Getting their publicity stunt started was their or should I say Gerry's immediate priority. It really looks so planned, that dreaded M word has always floated across my mind. I recall Alsabella pointing out he spent the first two hours, glued to his mobile, he must have found it again!

MPs they are just brilliant about deciding the future of various organisations without actually asking the people on the front line. They brough so much mind numbing managerialism to the job of being a probation officer it meant spending 70% of your working week doing "paperwork" on a computer to prove you were doing the job that the paperwork stopped you from being able to do. Their answer, probation service officers (unqualified) to start seeing offenders and going to court etc because the actual probation officer didnt have time!

My sister, a teacher will say exactly the same, so much record keeping, she has to leave her class sometimes with the unqualified teaching assistant so that she can go and do it! Again, masses of forms to fill out proving you are doing your job!

The police, exactly the same, unqualified community support officers strolling around who do not even have a power of arrest because the real policemen are "doing paperwork".

Just a few things we have to thank the labour government for !

Viv,

Many thanks for another excellent article.

Today's media coverage of Shannon's mother is - as always - played to McCanns' best advantage. DE has front page pictures of the 'saintly' McCanns reportedly setting off for Europe, below which is a picture of Karen Matthews running the gauntlet of hate.

Bar the handcuffs, the photo is identical to press photos of Kate leaving the Police Station in Luz facing the gauntlet of hate on far more serious issues than Karen's.

Karen has no help, McCanns are heavily protected and shielded.

The media manipulation for McCanns benefit is, to my mind, absolutely disgusting. Shannon wasn't killed, her mother knew where she was and was found alive.

Police findings in Madeleine's case are truly horrific, but CM always ensures the media place McCanns on a pedestal.

The power of civil servants in McCann's case is astounding, that's used to corrupt is abhorrent.

She also made it perfectly clear that she was walking to and from school.

Viv, as I have mentioned before I have several (imaginary!!) friends in various sections of the Police force and when I get to see them I am amazed of the technology the use now and what they are capable of doing (if they are informed of the crime soon enough that is). When Shannon went missing, I emailed one of my friends to say that I just had a gut feeling that this was an inside job, a copycat case for fame and fortune. I was told that it is likely that all phones would have been tapped from day one and various other things that I will not mention put into place. It came as no suprise to me what is developing now and I believe there is more to come. The point I am making is that these MEP's haven't the slightest clue what the police are capable of (neither are the general public thankfully) so as I said, it would be more appropriate to get the police forces together to talk through their own methods and maybe get them all into line with what THEY consider to be the best solution. Regard the form filling don't even go there, the police have exactly the same problem and it is a waste of valueable expertise.

On a separate issue I really have tried to understand where the McCanns are coming from, but no matter how hard I try to be fair I just cannot and do not accept anything they have done since Madeleine went missing as the correct and most sensible way of doing things.

Need to go and get on with some chores :-( will look in from time to time to see if there is any further news

Hiya 2345

and thanks for a great post, it was those sort of issues I wanted to flag up.

They are saying the most horrific things about Karen on the so called Pro-parents blog, did they forget she is a parent to and she did not actually physically harm Shannon? The hypocrisy in the treatment and attitude displayed towards "terrible Karen" and "saintly McCanns" is really revolting given that forensic evidence proves Madeleine died in their apartment. Absolutely no comparison in the seriousness or the class difference between the two.

If my child was abducted I would feel more reassured if the abduction was announced asap on regional news than on a motorway in Italy. Informing local airports, ferry ports, rail stations etc would be more beneficial as these are the routes used to get the child out of the country. If the ports are all on alert it would help more than flashing up a sign on a motorway that someone might see for 1 second while driving past at 70mph.

Zodiac, before you get Jojam on here biting your head off I think you will find the post was from Calcite, not sure.

Viv - Re Karen, I just want to clarify that whilse I suspected her involvement in Shannons disappearance I never considered the neglect issue, just that she say it as a way to make a fast buck and I doubted from day one they would be able to pull it off.

I am not sure why she has been charged with neglect. Sometimes it is hard to define neglect IMO. My grandmother had 9 children and a lazy no good husband and no money. By the time the eldest child was 9, she was taking care of her brothers and sisters for several hours a day while Gran scrubbed floors etc to earn money to feed them. Was that neglect, there were not all the handout then that there are now. Anyway whatever it was she turned out a great bunch, and they all love and take care of each other to this day, and never have forgotten the love they had for their Mum

Hiya Gina

Neglect does cover so many potentially bad examples of parenting, often it means the children are dirty and not fed properly and the parents failed to seek medical attention for the child. These are very typical examples. I think what they mean in Karen's case is that she quite literally abandoned her, a total derogation of her duty to care for Shannon, it is very serious and I am not trying to underplay that.

She left him with a man and god's know what his intentions might have been, that is neglectful, she failed to consider she was placing her daughter at risk of serious harm and of course she perverted the course of justice by not telling the police where she was, again, very serious.

We have scant details and there may be other ways in which she neglected her but that is all I can say on the basis of what little I have been able to glean so far.

Actually Viv, I agree with your views regards the varying neglect issues, but if this was, as I suspected a scam for fame and fortune, whilst it has backfired on those involved it has least given Shannon a chance of a new and better life so in a way it has a happy ending for those that matter, the children.

Really must go now, take care all

To avoid both false alarms and having alerts ignored as a "wolf cry", the criteria for issuing an alert are rather strict.

Each state's or province's AMBER alert plan sets its own criteria for activation, meaning that there are differences between alerting agencies as to which incidents are considered to justify the use of the system. However, the U.S. Department of Justice issues the following "guidance", which most states are said to "adhere closely to"[6]:

1/law enforcement must confirm that an abduction has taken place
2/the child must be at risk of serious injury or death
3/there must be sufficient descriptive information of child, captor, or captor's vehicle to issue an alert
4/the child must be 17 years old or younger.

How would this system have helped Maddie. Description of abductor. An egg with arms and legs.

Unknown said...

Hiya Gina

Maybe it seems like a happy ending and certainly compared to Madeleine's it is, but little Shannon still has to live with the trauma of being uprooted from her actual family and knowing, perhaps if not right now but later that they did not care about her. That is a terrible thing to have to come to terms with. I know from working with offenders just how heartbreaking lack of love and rejection by parents really can be.

Shannon is probably far less likely to grow up being an offender herself now though because she will get proper care and attention 24/7. Perhaps I should have mentioned the other typical form of serious neglect, that really does get parents into trouble, leaving children alone, especially tiny ones under 5 years!

Viv, being taken from your family I agree is not really a happy ending but I guess it depends on what life was actually like being part of that family. She at least now has the chance to experience a different way of life and as she gets older she can always go back if she wants. At least for now she is out of the terrible mess that is going on at the moment, she has had enough trauma and needs to be able to come to terms with it slowly IMO

Now I am REALLY REALLY REALLY going :-)

PS just had a thought, maybe in the future, as the government seems to know best, they will rule that everbody has to be microchipped with a tracking device so they can find any of us easily if we go missing. Won't even need a passport, we will just be zapped as we go through customs. Big brother time is coming!!!!

Niki said...

Hi everyone!

Have seen that Sweedishmum has told you about Engla who is missing in Sweeden. Today in the newspapers Carina, Englas mother is telling that people probably thinks she is "cold as ice", because she is out and searching all the time. Carina is telling that if she gives place for thoughts in her mind, she would be on the floor in a lake of tears and vomit!
She keeps one thought in her mind: "Find Engla, find Engla". At nighttime she takes a sleeping-pill to rest for a few hours and to be sure there is a "blackout" without images...
There are no pictures of Carina or any other family-members. It is not relevant for finding Engla...

She is so focused at the search that she belives people think she is "cold"! What on earth has Madeleines and Shannons cases done to our world! I'm sure both cases will remend in peoples memory for ages, and every time a child goes missing we will ask ourself: Is this "normal" behavior?, could this be another hoax?
The hope is still there for Engla, but fading every hour, every day...
My thoughts goes to her and her family...

Viv,

In terms of neglect, I wonder which children are considered to be at most risk - Shannon with an unsuitable relative or two 2 year old babies and a three old left without adult care and protection -five consecutive nights in an alien environment.

Authorities reaction to Shannon's plight is profound and rightly so.

McCanns PR spokesman, civil servant CM publicly dismissed McCanns' habitual child neglect as 'normal'. The Law clearly states otherwise.

Law enforcement in McCanns case is definitely hindered, subjected to influences not present in Shannon's case.

McCanns are placed on media pedestal irrespective of the very serious issues in the case.

Police evidence in McCanns case is far more serious than Shannon's.
She's now in good hands and enjoying the kitten the police gave her. I was so moved by this.

Have you read this?:

Quote:"So today some people think Michael Caplan is an excellent lawyer and Madeleine's parents are in good hands. Others who ask why they chose someone who defended Pinochet, a military ruler who was accused of crimes against humanity."

But Mr Caplan has said that a lawyer has a duty to a client, just as a surgeon has to a patient. Clients don't want to be judged by their lawyers. What they want is ability and a safe pair of hands. In Michael Caplan, Kate and Gerry McCann have got just that

Hi viv,
Excellent post.
I agree with Lady Meyer.
It is silly to believe that a child abducted in Spain will be recovered if the child's photo is shown in the UK.
Apart from that, most kids who disappear in Europe are over 14.
They are mostly runaways and they usually come from the former Eastern Europe.
The amber alert has not recovered any of them.
TV stations cut their program to announce an amber and the viewers are quite annoyed.

Having just watched the press conference and just about managed to contain myself hearing from Gerry how "at the very least they are qualified to talk about the Amber Alert System", what on earth is this parasite going on about. Well Gerry if you think you deserve to talk about it maybe it is about time they had a Red alert system to report pathetic, uncaring parasitic parents like you and your wife who leave young children in dangerous situations in the first place. This is what should have been discussed today, a very simple rule that would save many more children from coming to harm in the first place.

As for Clarence, cherry picking the "chosen ones", bet you were just waiting for someone to mention the Arguido status, because I was and just knew someone would mention it. Did you see the look on the face of your MEP, I bet he lives to regret his initial support..........

There were dogs mentioned in my story but no mine was actually about my son, who got out of the house, into the front yard and into the dry dog food. But what shit for brains cant get through her head, is that our front yard is a fully fenced yard, 50 metres from the yard. And the reason we dont let him out on his own (into front yard) is that he eats the dog food and dog pooh. He is only 2.

But now I am a child neglector, just goes to prove you dont need any proof or evidence. Just make it up. Why am I not surprised.

Glad to have found you.

hi diane, yeah i read a post and it was abougt a child eating dogshit and food, obviously the usual viv twist on events, add wings, change facts, and rewrite to suit!

I've played her all day long. My 5 year old has actually been posting solid!LMFAO!

He is word crazy at mo cos learning his letters and reading, i have to write letter for him to copy all tyhe time and spell words for him.

punched in one post, which of course they have deleted all day for hours. Showed him how to do refresh, control and c and he has been in his element playing letter game ha ha. Once he does that, he gets to copy the verification letters instead of me writing them for him to copy on paper, hits send and does it again, and again, for hours on end. The blogger game!

Meanwhile, they are all self combusting and deleting for hours and thinking im unhinged! lol.

Later, thats when i started the pick apart and behavioural analysis. Sadly, my 5 year old cant do that yet. Give him a week eh.

Nice to have you here Diane. I thought you had the url before, otherwise id have given it to you.

Hi Viv and everyone else.

Thought you might like to take a look at a post from the 3A's. A poster called Polandguy posted the below on the board today. My faith in humanity has been restored.

I have just returned to my hotel from the European Parliament where I was able to both witness the McCann event and strike a blow for Madeleine by distributing leaflets about the case.

When I discovered the McCanns were to take their circus to Brussels I checked my diary and saw that I was going to be there the same day anyway on business! This being too good an opportunity to pass up, I drafted a 3-page flyer “Truth and Justice for Madeleine” (see below), had my secretary print it up and I flew over with 100 copies in my briefcase. I managed to get a pass to the EP (not difficult) and headed for the press conference. I missed the presentation part of Amber Alert held in a different room of the EP, seeing only that it was packed to the rafters. But I was in good time for the press conference. I spent about half an hour standing outside the press conference room handing out the leaflets to journalists all of whom expressed great interest. No non-journalists allowed in but there was a video feed in another room.

Other points:

Had an opportunity to chat to one or two Euro MEPs. One of whom I expected better was toeing the party line on “Portuguese police inefficient, McCanns doing what anyone else would do, what’s the evidence?”. Disappointing. One MEP supportive.

Journalists reacted very positively to the leaflets. Several wanted to talk to me on the record but for obvious reasons I had to turn them down. One or two wanted to talk further privately and I have their contacts.

Below is what I distributed. I got rid of about 80 copies and left some lying around outside the press conference room (only journalists were permitted inside).

Page One was 24-point bold title “Truth and Justice for Madeleine”, then picture of Maddie, then website addresses of http://www.mccannfiles.com and http://www.the3arguidos.net.

Then two pages of A4 as follows, bold type:

On 3rd May 2007, Madeleine McCann disappeared from her parents’ holiday apartment at Praia da Luz in Portugal.

Her parents, Gerry and Kate McCann, had left her and her two younger siblings in an unlocked apartment that evening, as they had done every evening of their holiday, in order to enjoy an alcohol-fuelled dinner at the resort Tapas bar, well over a hundred metres away. From the bar, they were unable to have a clear line of sight to the apartment where Madeleine was. They left them unattended, despite their Mark Warner holiday resort offering babysitting services and evening supervision of children.

They claim to have checked on them every half an hour. Yet the statements of the parents and their companions to the police about their movements that night are full of contradictions and obfuscations.

The very instant that Kate McCann discovered that Madeleine was missing, she and her husband Gerry insisted that she had been abducted.

Yet there is little evidence that Madeleine was abducted from the apartment.

Since May 2007, there has been an ongoing investigation by the Policia Judiciária, the Portuguese police (PJ), into Madeleine’s disappearance. The investigation is currently headed personally by Paulo Rebelo, the respected national deputy director of the PJ.

According to information in the Portuguese press, Paulo Rebelo and his team have concluded that the evidence for an abduction is minimal, and that in all probability Madeleine died in the holiday apartment. Their conclusions are based on forensic and other evidence, including evidence collected through the use of UK police sniffer dogs trained in the discovery of cadaver odour. The dogs used by the Portuguese and British police are the same ones which discovered concealed remains in the recent Jersey children’s home case.

On the basis of police evidence and investigations, the parents of Madeleine were constituted suspects (or “arguidos”) by the Portuguese police in September 2007, and then immediately left Portugal for the UK, following police interviews in which they refused to answer key questions put to them by the Portuguese police. They have not returned to Portugal since then.

This week (April 7th-11th 2008), a top-level team of the Policia Judiciara, led by Paulo Rebelo himself, are in the United Kingdom, conducting interviews together with the police of Leicestershire. They are interviewing the companions of the McCanns on the fateful evening, the so-called Tapas 7, because of inconsistencies in their original statements to the police last spring. The Portuguese police suspect that the Tapas 7 are being untruthful in their evidence, and that they have knowledge of what happened to Madeleine that fateful night.

The McCanns personally, and through their media spokesman Clarence Mitchell, have worked hard to discredit the Portuguese police, calling into question their competencies and motives, and insisting that Madeleine remains alive and that the police should be searching for her. The Policia Judiciária are not actively searching for her because they have concluded internally that she has in all probability been dead since May 3rd 2007.
The McCanns have set up a special fund, based on the thesis that Madeleine is alive and needs to be searched for, and which to date has collected over a million pounds (1.5 mln Euro) in donations from the public and libel fees obtained from the Express Newspaper Group. Among the mission statements of the Fund is the aim “to provide support, including financial assistance, to Madeleine’s family.”

Over the last year, the McCann parents have increasingly aligned themselves with lobbying for the Amber Alert system, in place in the US, to be introduced on a Europe-wide basis. They are positioning themselves as global ambassadors for missing children.

As they continue their campaign, many questions need to be asked. They include:

• Why have the McCanns not taken full responsibility for the disappearance of their daughter? Surely what they should be doing is campaigning on the theme of “Do not leave your children unattended in unlocked apartments, whilst you enjoy alcohol-fuelled dinners at a distance where you cannot observe them, as we did”.
• Why have they undertaken a campaign to discredit the Portuguese police, and invested hundreds of thousands of pounds into funding private investigators of dubious reputation (Metodo 3), to maintain the public belief that their daughter is alive? Should they not instead be co-operating in answering the questions of the PJ?
• Why have the McCanns hired, at great expense, top lawyers in the UK and US on matters of extradition, libel and criminal evidence? These include Kingsley Napley, whose Michael Caplan QC fought efforts to extradite General Pinochet from the UK; Carter-Ruck, the UK's most expensive libel lawyers; and Hurley, Burish & Stanton in Madison, Wisconsin, USA, specialising in debunking sniffer dog evidence in criminal trials. Are these the typical actions of parents of missing children?
• Why are the supporters of the Amber Alert system aligning themselves with Kate and Gerry McCann, who remain official suspects (“arguidos”) in an ongoing police investigation, jointly conducted by Portuguese and British police forces? Are these the right role models for ambassadors in the cause of missing children?

There are many more unanswered questions about the disappearance of Madeleine and the activities of her parents since May 2007. The McCanns and their spokesman Clarence Mitchell are working hard to suppress these questions and the debate around them, including having successfully closed down the The Mirror Group internet discussion forum, and forced (via libel proceedings) the Express Group to remove from its internet sites every article that they had published about the McCanns and the Madeleine case since May 2007. The only crime of the internet fora and the Express Group was to republish and comment on stories appearing in the Portuguese media.

Thankfully, it is still possible to debate the McCann case freely and ask the questions that the McCanns, their spokesman, and their expensive lawyers have sought to suppress. This information and debate can be found at two websites:

eurekamano,

Remember, top civil servant CM has control of the media in this case.
He was chosen to fight the police and secure McCanns' freedom - in the public arena as opposed to Court.

CM uses the media to represent and speak on behalf of Prosecutor PJ & Leicester Police. Alsabella has been 'silenced' for this reason - she has contacts with PJ and informs us accordingly. Docmac appears to have suffered likewise.

Police perspective and aims in this case - bring the guilty to justice:

To arrest McCanns last September, halted by political intervention.
To re-interview prime suspects on unanswered questions and new evidence, question CM on his involvement tantamount to perverting course of justice, his close association with illegal activities of Metado 3, PR designed to undermine Police etc.
Interview independent witnesses and also Tapas Group.

PJ were preparing for a two month stay to obtain ALL statements required for Court - prime suspects and CM's of critical importance. Prosecutor ordered arrival in early March - did not happen - political intervention.

CM's media release of reconstruction is another diversionary tactic - misinformation - speaking on behalf of Police.

Prosecutor & PJ remain focussed on Court and dossier of evidence proving death; search for Madeleine alive halted last July - Eddie & Keela confirmed death.

Reconstruction, if it occurs, will NOT be the result of Police request; it undermines their work and dossier of evidence.

Prosecutor & PJ cannot proceed to Court without the ALL the statements they need. Aims and needs have again been stymied.

Police waste neither time or resources; flying to Britain to question only 3 of the lengthy list required for Court is a waste of resources as it does not progress Prosecutor's aims - Court - ALL statments are needed for Court, primarily McCanns.

In lieu of prosecutor's aims and intentions, arrangements were made for McCanns to attend European Parliament.

A document recently published by criminal profilers proving abduction to be an impossibility has entered the public arena. This is as threatening to McCanns as Prosecutor's aims and evidence he has examined.

News in response, Police request a reconstruction, despite the fact Police ruled out any possibility of abduction months ago.

CM's open access to media is used solely to uphold and protect the McCanns, misinform the public, undermine the police and pervert the course of justice.

The independent thesis in the public arena proving abduction to be impossible caused panic and alarm. CM uses the media for corrective measures and manipulation - acting as PJ's & Leicester Police spokesperson in the process.

In Portugal, the Prosecutor is STILL awaiting approval for all lengthy interviews and statements for which a two month visit is required.

Police and public are being played one against the other.

"Democracy cannot function without free press" - courtesy 3 A's.

Police cannot function as the law dictates; they cannot control media misinformation submitted by CM.

Civil servants are running the case, not the Police. From Police perspective the case is not complication - they solved the mystery behind Madleine's disappearance last July, all credit to top dogs Eddie & Keela

claudia,

PJ thoroughly investigated McCanns abduction theory months ago. On receipt of evidence confirming their suspicions of parents involvement no further action for live search was required.

The Prosecutor has no need to reconstruct a theory proven to be impossible. He's examined all the damning evidence on PJ's files and is clearly focussed on Court and Court Judgment.

Stella said...

2345

I agree with you, they have absolutely no need for a reconstruction now, they are wanted back in Portugal to finally face the music and they know it, hence the "reconstruction theory" Clarence is putting about to try and save face.....

2345 said...

stella,

Yes, it's a repeat performance of 'private' re-examination of a forensically cleansed vehicle - McCanns didn't like FSS results.

An article has recently arrived in the public arena, findings of criminal profilers proving abduction to be impossible. CM's trying to 'undo' more FACTS and damage to McCanns' reputations.

Cláudia said...

2345,

the Pj want them here for a reconstruction for many reasons. One of them is because they know they have lied when they said that they would cooperate and return to Portugal as soon as the authorities wished so. The world heard them say it and the world will see them refuse. And the world will, obviously, understand what that means.
Another reason is to corner the group. They have all given so many versions of events, that a reconstruction would make their lies even more obvious and their theory laughbable.
But there are more reasons.

Thanks, Isis.
It's a shame I don't get Telecinco here in Portugal. I only get TVE. But I'll pay attention to our news channel Sic notícias.

Cláudia said...

Marga, tune in Sic Notícias!!!

Rori Hegarty said...

Thanks Claudia, from what i gather telecino is not known for accuracy but lets see.

Cláudia said...

You're welcome, Isis.
Maybe Gina or Nancy can teel us a bit more about this later.
I've just watched Sic Notícias and they concentrated on the trip to Brussels. I was very happy to see that both of them look great and are smiling a lot. I was a bit worried when I heard Kate was fragile bit I guess that was just a rumour. We are waiting for both of them here, so they can clear their names, have their arguido status lifted and the 'abductor' is found (cough, cough).

Cláudia said...

Ass, thanks! :-)
Always a pleasure to piss off child neglecters adorers.

assassin said...

no neglect here, but you lot are happy to keep up the child abuse on sean and amelie mccann.

Cláudia said...

Maybe our lot, by not letting the neglect issue go (and we will never let it go) have prevented Amelie and Sean from being left alone, AGAIN, and 'abducted' by a faceless sketch.

Chrissie Nyssen said...

Cláudia said...

Ultraviolet, I do believe Wizard has been here for a quick hello before.

Gina said...

Assassim it is not us that are im Brussels is it. I am sure Sean and Amelie are being well cared for, but I think their mother would be better placed looking after them than playing Mother superior to the world. Leave it to Daddy, he has enough to say for the both of them

Chrissie Nyssen said...

there is no child abuse on sean and amelie mccann. except perhaps their mother, makes them play games, of "find the monster who took our sister."

Stella said...

Forget the McCann's Ambert Alert, what we need is a Red Alert system to alert all Police Forces when scum parents like the McCanns have gone out on the jolly leaving infants alone and make sure they are taken into care. The Red Alert system, look after them or loose them, simple really.........

2345 said...

claudia,

You have an incredibily convoluted view of the case and straightforward police procedures.

Gina said...

Sorry Isis I cannot help you I do not have a Spanish aerial and cannot pick up the stations. Nancy can I think and ofcourse Ironside if he is around.

Chrissie Nyssen said...

and you, assassin, are quite mad. your behavior here proves this beyond a shadow of a doubt. i feel very bad for your children.

2345 said...

stella,

But for McCann's government connections the case would have gone to Court months ago and been concluded to Prosecutor's satisfaction.

Those responsible for PJ's dossier of evidence would have been judged accordingly, as in Shannon's case.

Same procedures in all countries - evidence, Court, judgment.

Cláudia said...

Well, 2345, I happen to know why reconstructions are made in my country. As difficult as it may seem, before the Mccanns, our police forces were already used to do reconstructions...

And the part about making the world see them refuse and reach their own conclusions, well, that is just common sense.

Gina, do you get Telecinco? I only get TVE!

Cláudia said...

Ooops, sorry, neighbour. I hadn't read you post regarding the aerial. Perdon! :-)

Chrissie Nyssen said...

i do not even know sean and amelie mccann. it is therefor a lie to state that i am a child abuser of them. i hope for the sake of your own mental health, that you do not actually believe this to be the truth.

Cláudia said...

Ultraviolet, do not argue with it. It's not good for it.

Cláudia said...

I see Ass has a thing for child killers. Why am I not surprised? Hmmm....

Stella said...

2345

I agree, and not to beat around the bush here, the only reason we are having to take the slow boat to China with this case, is to save Gordon Brown's reputation. Let's hope he gets questioned under oath.........

Chrissie Nyssen said...

claudia, i think you are right. it is unhinged. i will ignore it from now.

Cláudia said...

Stella, that is interesting.

Cláudia said...

See, guys, the thing is already losing it.

assassin said...

clawdia you lot are child killers, murdering sean and amelie mccann from the inside out

Gina said...

I have just read that article in the mail Isis posted. Heavens are they actually admitting to what we all already knew, Madeleine was crying when they went to Chaplins. And did you see Clarence did not actually deny it, just annoyed it has been leaked before he has thought up a reasonsable answer, like "it is normal practice"

Going back to get on with what I was doing, will catch up with you all later

Cláudia said...

Well, I was going to delete that. But I gave it another thought and that one is staying. For obvious reasons. :-)

2345 said...

stella,

Whether Amber Alert initiative is for childrens' benefit remains to be seen. Most European initiatives are unnecessarily complicated.

Let the Police in each country do the job they're equipped and trained to do; they have immediate access to all resources, counterparts, Interpol etc.

Cláudia said...

Gina, interesting or what?

Chrissie Nyssen said...

they admitted going to chaplins? do you have a link please gina?

why not leave this one too then claws - too true for comfort?

do the pj do reconstructions of mothers with missing kids that have their faces battered in?

Cláudia said...

Gina, I believe that are probably better that way. At least they don't have to play that sick game. I hope.
Hasta luego, Gina.

Gina said...

No ultraviolet, I did not say they admitted going to Chaplins I said they admit she was crying. We have to wait and see if they admit to going to Chaplins, but I was told by someone there at the time they saw them there. It really doesn't matter where they were they were not where they were supposed to be, looking after the kids

Cláudia said...

Oh yeah, I'll leave it. It's perfect to show your admiration for child killers. ;-)

Cláudia said...

Gina, did you like CM's reaction? ;-)

assassin said...

thanks. i like to see your native appreciation for people that beat victims senseless standing too.

Stella said...

2345

You are absolutely right, let each country deal with this in their own way. With the amount of time in theory the McCann's would have given a potential abductor to cross the border with their far from adequate checks on their children, no flashing lights would have helped any of them.

Chrissie Nyssen said...

what a nice photograph of kate. it is nice to see her so healthy and happy. she should be able to travel to portugal now. although i would not be smiling if my daughter had been with paedophiles for almost one year.

Cláudia said...

Well, hate to hurt your feelings but three different courts found them child killers. Oooops.
This is my last post to you today. Enough of humouring a crazy thing. But you can go on talking to yourself. As you're obviously used to do...

Cláudia said...

Ultraviolet, I was also quite relieved to see how well she's doing.
Stella, totally agree with you on the time issue.

Gina said...

Claudia, I think CM is loosing it, once he has to face the world's press they will hit him with whatever they want and they get him backfooted. I don't think this latest publicity stunt is going entirely according to plan. They should be given talks about the dangers of leaving children, actually I will rephrase that, the should be listening to talks about the dangers of leaving childre.

Better go and finish off now CU later

Chrissie Nyssen said...

but also, they did not say that they "didn't" go to chaplins.

Their spokesman, Clarence Mitchell, refused to confirm if the leaked statements were genuine.

this is not normal behavior for clarence. he is not normally at a loss for something to say!

Cláudia said...

You're absolutely right, Gina.
He's obviously been surprised and wasn't expecting it. Didn't have enough time to go through the script as he should.
See you later, I hope, Gina.

Cláudia said...

Ultraviolet, you will have to excuse him. He was not prepared. :-) Come on, he is a human being after all. I'm almost positive about that.

2345 said...

claudia,

You do PJ a grave disservice with your lack of understanding of their intelligence and procedures in this case. The lady doth protest too much.

Police do not work backwards in any country !! That which is eliminated is finished, closed.

McCanns media manager has designed
another ploy to offset independent proof of abduction being impossible.

CM's paid to undermine the police and pervert the course of justice in this case. Metado 3's contract's been renewed, so their illegal activities are still needed to prejudice the case ...

nancy said...

Isis -

I was having lunch in a Spanish bar today and Telecinco was on - there was a discussion about the Madeleine case and they were discussing the fact that Gerry left a precious 45 minutes before telephoning the police when Madeleine disappeared and that anyone abducting Madeleine could have got completely away during that time. This they thought was reprehensible! Unfortunately, I did not catch all of the programme so can't give any more details.

As far as the Amber Alert system is concerned, obviously anything that helps prevent children being taken across a border is an excellent idea, but I think these paedophiles once they catch on to the fact that every border is being checked will just resort to 'dumping' a child wherever they happen to be after they have carried out their evil acts, knowing that their every action would be on camera at a specific border and they would most certainly be caught.

There is no easy answer to this problem, and I know I'm going over old ground here, but I think it essential that police in all countries should carry out their own amber alerts in conjunction with other local police force in that country. Also it's very important for all countries to have up to date paedophile registers with details of where these perverts are at any time, i.e. in prison or out, latest address, families address, etc, so they know those who could be posing the most risk in the area involved. I'm sure this happens in most countries already, but it needs to be worldwide.

2345 -

I'm not at all doubting what you say, but just what is in it for the government to be in on this subterfuge you say is going on? CM gets a hefty payout for his part in speaking for the McCanns, but even that I don't think would make him cover up for them, in view of the risk he is taking in ending up in prison if found out! Also the McCanns solicitors would have to be involved in it too and they could be struck off if found out to be using their status as top lawyers to hide the truth of what happened the night Madeleine disappeared. I have my doubts about a cover up, but I do believe the McCanns have had much more than their fair share of assistance from people 'on high' and that begs the question just WHY?

Cláudia said...

Speak your mind, for certain people, questioning the wonder couple is being libellous. What they cannot understand is that some people engage their brains before they type and know perfectly weel what they should say publicly and privately. I have suspicions abouth the whole group. I think they have questions to answer. I think, well, I am sure they have not done all they could do to help the authorities find out what happened to Madeleine. You never saw me discussing wild killing theories (in fact, I never believe it) but I will never agree they they are responsible parents who made a little mistake. They are not. They are irresponsible, selfish and neglectful parents. Only parents like that would find it possible to leave three toddlers alone in a resort apartment in a foreign country. Get ready to be attacked.
