The above pic emailed to me by a friend was apparently taken on 19 May, just sixteen days after Madeleine disappeared. One might query what Gerry is laughing so happily about? I do not know what others think but the one child in the pushchair does not look like Sean or Amelie and I cannot imagine why Kate is fiddling with the hair of the sleeping child, other than her picture was being taken? Does anyone know who this child is?In the video below from BBC news it is confirmed the PJ will arrive next Monday and will sit in on interviews to commence on Tuesday. Not just the TAPAS 7 will be "quizzed again" but also relatives and advisers who were with the McCanns in PDL at the time will also be interviewed. This is therefore a major evidence gathering exercise and it is understood even Dr Rebelo will be among the small group of detectives who come to the UK.
It states the McCanns friends gave the police a timeline of events and now the police want to go over that evidence again.
Jane Tanner is stated to be a key witness who needs to be re-interviewed and the video has a short clip of her remarks from Panorama included.
It stresses that at this stage there are no plans to re-interview Kate and Gerry McCann but they do of course remain Arguidos FOLLOWING RECOVERY OF FORENSIC SAMPLES FROM THEIR HIRE CAR AND APARTMENT AFTER MADELEINE'S DISAPPEARANCE. Significantly, also, no mention is made of Murat, whatsoever.
So everything the Mechanics have been telling us is false. WE will all recall ~Rosiepops insisting the PJ are not coming back, there is no forensic evidence and Murat she insisted should be re-interviewed with endless writing on her blog of his "guilt". I wish Mr Murat a lot of nice compensation money for their wicked libel against him perpetuating the lies of the McCanns friends about him.
As the article dated January from the Daily Express below confirms the McCanns have been expecting this and feel they will be charged. Well at least I agree with them about that!

What he chooses to write about is simply unbelievable, just trivia about their daily routine. No normal thoughts or human emotions about little Madeleine.
Where does he once say we really hope she is not suffering, we miss her so badly, we just cannot stop thinking about her, our hearts ache, we feel so helpless we just keep searching but we cannot find her and feel so lost without her, the sound of her lovely little voice, watching her playing with her dolls...
We do not see any of this, do we? We see him telling us about putting the twins in the creche and how long it took him and Kate to jog up a hill and how the twins got haircuts. Was blogging a normal thing to do anyway? Surely not..it was fundraising, publicity seeking, selling brand McCann. Did we really want to know every little detail of what they do. We can imagine what normal parents would have done. They would have alternated between fits of absolute despair and crying and then getting in a car and frantically searching, searching..they never even looked. In the first interview with Jane Hill of the BBC Kate admitted they did not go out and physically search for Madeleine. I am afraid there can be only one reason for that.

I give up I dont know what to think anymore.
How can anyone most importantly her parents try to defend what they did as ok? Normal people would be so devestated to be caught neglecting a child (which they have well and truly been) yet alone the child goes missing. I would never forgive myself if my actions caused the mess Madeleine is now in.
I supose any family would try and defend their own but all the spin is so wrong in fact it makes them look worse.
Children are important yet so many are let down they dont ask to be born but when they are all they need is love and care.
I feel depresed and helpless at it all now Madeleine must never be forgoten and any idiot who thinks their child will be ok if left alone must remeber this beautiful little girl and not do it.
Wish there was something I could do for these children but where do you start?

I think Gerry McCann is in denial that any harm has come to Madeleine and that is why he hardly mentions her but goes on about mundane stuff - he doesn't want to face up to the truth that he and Kate reneged on their duty of care to their children. His smiles, his words, and his actions, show him to appear totally unconcerned at what happened as if he has shut it all up in a little compartment, locked it and thrown away the key. In my opinion his words and actions are typical of someone desperately trying to block out what he doesn't want to think about.

If you think it is ok, send an address to Viv, and I will send the clothes for the girl. Her parent's problems are not her fault, I think. Social services are a State response to a personal tragedy; children are embarrassed by that. Better the girl should receive charity from strangers rather than pity from the State, I think. It's just a thought.
I live in England. I respect that other countries have their own solutions - probably better ones on many occasions!

I just wanted to stick up for Atardi who sounds like a wonderfully caring teacher who shows her pupils an experience and not just the whiteboard.
I am an ex teacher and I know that most schools, location or country is not important here, have strict rules for both conduct and dress code. It is important that these rules are in place so that the children learn how to be part of a society in thier formative years so that they can behave appropriately when out in the big wide world. I have known schools to have zero tolerance on dress codes and some that turn a blind eye.
As a matter of hygeine and care about one's appearance, dirty clothes also fall into the dress code. If a school is not clear on this policy and strict about it, pupils soon learn that they can draw their own line and you soon have boys turning up with obscene tattoos (in high school) and girls in skirts short enough to be mistaken for a belt.
In cases where neglect becomes apparent, it is the duty of the teacher to firstly protect that child from abuse from others (which Atardi did by sending her home but i see she had a kind word with her first) and secondly, to ensure the school rules are enforced.
There are very clear guidlines in school handbooks as to this proceedure. Atardi could very well get into trouble had she turned a blind eye.
Wrt to talking to the parents, I would imagine Atardi has this hand. Often the parents in these circumstances will give a teacher short shrift as they don't care or have something against teachers, but Englich ruling would say that a letter or a phone call, no matter how fruitless it appears to be, would have to be made/sent to explain why the child has to be sent home. It is a tedious and often drawn out process and needless to say, reems of paperwork these days.
The final step a teacher would have to make is to monitor the problem with the child. If conditions for him/her do not get any better then the teacher is obliged to make a statement to a designated welfare person within the school if negligence or abuse is suspected. This usually gets followed up by the authorities.
Teaching is a tremendously difficult job but is child-centred. I commend Atardi for doing her job where I had to give it up for the many stresses it involves.
Jenna, to sum-up, unless you are a teacher, you haven't the faintest clue, dear. So leave those that do, well alone. In any case, if I am correct, you are a junior within the Guardian Papers team. Know what their motto is, sweetie?

You know, Viv, if it wasn't for that poor child those idiots treated like an inconvenience, I would be gone a long time ago. All these other child neglecter fans are not worth all this trouble. Let them all apply these fantastic parenting methods on their children and grandchildren and be proud of it and defend it as a responsible thing to do. But when you think of that child, when you think about what she might have felt (was she scared, did she cry, did she feel pain, etc) you realise that you cannot choose the easy way out. Enough of cowards already.

When I read Rosiepops and Co excusing and justifying the way they left those dear little babies and I think of her terrible anguish it really makes my flesh creep.
I have always found those views so utterly revolting. What of the sad, desperate anguish of a terrified little three year old, alone in a dark strange room, desperately crying for parents who were out of earshot laughing, drinking, joking, even if she had lived she would never have forgotten that terrified helplessness, the fear, the longing for comfort and cuddles.
These people are truly horrific to try and excuse what they admit to doing. I did go to their site once and told them I would not trust them to care for a pet rat and I meant it.
Again the other night they were comparing with Mrs Bulger who just turned her back for a second. How does this compare? How wicked are these people who want to defend the quite simply barbarous and indefensible, admitted behaviour of Kate and Gerry McCann?

All very sad. I try not to think too much about Maddie on her own and afraid as it is upsetting. The only way you can imagine this is to substitute your own child/ren and see their faces and tears in your mind,which is just too painful.
How is the lemon drink diet going? I weighed myself this morning for the first time in a couple of weeks and wished I hadn't. My weakness is cheese! Especially wensleydale - Wallace and Grommit have nothing on me ;)
LGC - confession to make, I watched the penguin flight thing this morning and forgot it was April 1st! I have to say, though, that I did think it was all a bit fake - loool! It was just about believable until they all landed in a tropical forest!!!! Just call me Mrs Gullible!

I don't know who these people are, Viv. And I honestly do not want to know. Fortunately, all the people I deal with in my everyday life know this behaviour is nothing more and nothing less than neglect. All these months I've felt tempted to leave, to forget all this, to let go. Several times, in fact. Because this is tiring and emotionally draining. And if you think rationaly you see that no matter what, your life will be the same. This doesn't change anything. All the important people in your life and all the people you love are there and that is what really matters. But then, when you really feel like letting go, something happens. You read something which makes you wake up again. Or you come accross a photo of that little girl and something inside you says that it is not ok to let it go. And you stay.

Years ago I was listening to the radio when there was a short item on a German or Austrian professor who had discovered some sort of genetic weakness in red-headed people which made them susceptible to Dutch Elm Disease. Guess who was susceptible to that little known fact - by coincidence, broadcast on 1st April??? Took me weeks to realize! (I feared for my auburn-tressed friend, and wasn't sure if I should mention it to her!)
Opus certainly wouldn't be seen dead with a lead - and he doesn't go for the diamond-encrusted collar, either. (I'll have his diamonds, then!) But then, he thinks he's the bees knees in his smart red bow tie!
Really off to my nest now (not to sit on any eggs, however. At least, I do hope not!).

So the digs alerted to a smell, so what, they could have been alerting to any number of things being carried in that car and no one knows what they were smelling.

solicitors give advice to clients and they take "instructions", they do not tell clients what to do. If a client insists they are innocent then the lawyer has to go along with that and run their defence accordingly but he/she will certainly advise on prospects of successfully running that defence.
In the McCanns case it seems to me that there is an acceptance the evidence against them is very damaging indeed but they will try and defend it being as unco-operative and silent as possible, forcing the prosecution to prove their case...pretty desperate strategy and very rarely successful..depends entirely on the strength of the prosecution case. IMO the Pros case here is very strong and they are weak and desperate, hence the repeated request that police should interview their paid for witnesses, which I can confidently predict they will refuse to do! They will have to bring them to court - this is a desperate strategy to try and stop the McCanns being charged, but they will be, just wait and see.
RE the Portuguese lawyers, statement, this is organised and serious crime and IMO secrecy of justice will be extended to September in this case as the prosecution can clearly do. Note he says could, not must! Spin, spin....

I agree Viv, it appears that they want to disrupt due process as a way of fighting the case, with whatever means, even by insisting on 20 or so witnesses being interviewed, yet they decline themselves as I and others stated before. I read that it is to give credibility to Madeline being seen on the 3rd of May. Any witnesses who do not tell the truth could face serious prosecution. I also think that such a case, if the PJ believe was a crime, then it could perhaps be considered as organized thus fulfilling the criteria of an extension in the secrecy?
